MS has been hiding in Beijing ever since he was named on an INTERPOL arrest warrant for pocketing some ill gotten loot from the Oil For Food Program that was run by the UN supposedly for the benefit of the Iraqi people.
Greenpeace and Earth First, and all the other environmentally conscious activists, should go over to China and parade about in protest of their terrible ways.
Start with a big one in Tiananmen Square for starters, the Chinese government will be SOOOOO embarrassed.
Climate change will wipe out most life on Earth by the end of this century and mankind is too late to avert catastrophe, a leading British climate scientist said.
James Lovelock, 89, famous for his Gaia theory of the Earth being a kind of living organism, said higher temperatures will turn parts of the world into desert and raise sea levels, flooding other regions.
His apocalyptic theory foresees crop failures, drought and death on an unprecedented scale. The population of this hot, barren world could shrink from about seven billion to one billion by 2100 as people compete for ever-scarcer resources.
"It will be death on a grand scale from famine and lack of water," Lovelock told Reuters in an interview on Wednesday. "It could be a reduction to a billion (people) or less."
-----
Of course, with rising sea levels, the 2/3rds of the planet that is currently covered by water will increase. But hey, consistency isn't this lunatic's strong point. I wonder if this "scientist" has heard of the desalination plant...
Quick shut down Ontario...Oh wait, it already has. :) LOL!
I love the smoking stacks, except for the fact that CO2 is colorless and odorless.
AGW will die a natural death.
These people will do anything to stampede people into the latest apocalyptic claptrap. If I want to read about the Apocalypse the book of Revelation has that covered.
What we are getting now is the tsunami of hysteria, that somehow people are a 'biotic evil'

Cue "A Convenient Outright Lie", lights camera action.
And now for our convenient Enron cap n trade skimming program. Hey the SEC will get 'em, just like Bernie "Made-Off with Billions".

Did the Prime Minister Not elate to diffences in Co2 emissions this week on US tv or was it with Obama.
Stating that the yes we have the oilsands & the US has the Coal producing More. Thats right Canadian MSM did not show his interviews.
Also with Daltons New Green Machine Annoucements this week there were No mentions at all about Ontario's coal fired Gen.Plants, Was that not a prime objective of his when he ran for Premier to close these plants.
What 8yrs ago? anyone..
The disingenous and relentless preoccupation Canadian AGW believers have with the oil sands is like the Everyready Bunny.
The GreenReds so fixated on this they have failed to realize that Barack Obama's statements about the oilsands, American coal, and China/India does not bode well for realizing their dream of forcing Alberta to dish out cash for pay-to-pollute credits (hello! Jeffrey Simpson).
I think your source was referring to potentially recoverable reserves, not annual production. US Energy Information Administration says that total US coal production was 1.15 billion tons in 2007, of which Illinois produced 32 million. Seven other states produced more.
I realize that someone is going to say it is a cash grab or a power grab but I still find it amazing that despite all the scientific evidence and the the thousands of scientists that say man made global warming is load of dingo's kidneys, how all these governments just refuse to listen and insist on implementing their so called green plans regardless of what it will do to their people and economy. Stupidity and power is a very dangerous combination, may God help us.
I realize it was just intended as a joke, but - quick calculation (I stand to be corrected)
If the China stack was, say, the width of a hand 5 inches, then to scale;
China stack 5 ins (about how it appears)
US coal 2.1 ins
Oil Sands 0.004 ins (thickness of paper)
Watch for a three part series on The National beginning tonight.
TONIGHT ... ON THE NATIONAL ... CANADA WOULD HAVE TO SHUT DOWN 1200 OIL SANDS (we only have one) IN ORDER TO EQUAL MAURICE STRONG'S CHINA CO2 OUTPUT ... KEITH, WHAT DOES THIS ALL MEAN ? PLEASE PUT IT INTO PERSPECTIVE FOR OUR SHEEP, er VIEWING AUDIENCE. WELL PETER, IT MEANS MAURICE STRONG AND GANG HAVE LOTS OF WOOL. BUT PETER, THE WORLD 'IS' RUNNING OUT OF WATER, SO LETS TAX THAT. YOUR WELCOME.
The question for the National Geopgraphic Magazine to answer is:
Did the large, advanced cities of the Mayan and Aztec empires, empty out and decay because of what happened in the cold north, thousands of miles removed from them at the time, or because did these wonderful large cities run out of energy and food?
Frankly I'm surprized that a such a venerable magazine would stoop to critizing and sensationalizing Alberta's oil sands especially when the so many of the large cities of the USA have to rely on its coal fired power plants.
3.3 million tons of Alberta oil sands co2 versus 1.9 BILLION tons of co2 by USA coal.
Sort of like the kettle calling the frying pan black, eh?
Apparently, coal puts out 40 times the amount of CO2 into the atmosphere than an equivalent amount of oil.
Not sure what National Geographic's motivation is on this, but if there's a conspiracy theory, it's that NG would like to take the pressure off Obama by pointing the finger in other places.
Once the nuclear plants are built to power the OIL (not tar, you CBC retards) sands production, that would make it about 100-1 ratio.
But then NG, would start whinging about nuclear power.
Also consider the other pollution, NOx and SOx. A lot of the smog in the states is caused by coal plants.
Last time I checked, Alberta doesn't have smog. As a matter of fact, I don't think Saskatchewan does either. I'll bet Manitoba doesn't have a smog problem either!
Effective February 12, 2009 OPG will reduce the CO2 emission adder from $7.50 per tonne to $1.00 per tonne. This change reflects our forecast for significantly reduced demand for coal-fuelled generation and associated CO2 emissions. The reduced demand is primarily due to lower electricity demand associated with weakened economic activity. The forecast is revisited on an ongoing basis and will be revised as required.
Seriously, a license to have kids? What was he gonna do if I just told him to F**K OFF? Forcibly abort them? Confiscate them? Kill them?
F**k that wanker and good riddance. I'd a shot his ass 6 times+ for trying to get between me and my missus and the lil' uns. F**k him, seriously, how come the Chinese mafia haven't iced his @$$ already?

Yeah well, Gore, Suzuki, Obama and Harper (the four hoarse men of the a'pucker lips) should take a stroll around For Mac tomorrow and point out for us peons where the globe is warming.

So there you have it, Day spoke to "the people". That "settles" it, I suppose.
It's an honest question that deserves and honest answer. Not some bit of stupid grade 5 rhetoric.
I'd like to see it all in perspective. Wouldn't you?
Maybe I want all the facts so that when some greenie from Ontario points finger at my industry (oil/gas) I can promptly give them the real numbers. And you know that they'll point at the coal gen here after I point out the miniscule amount of C02 our oil sands produce.

Coal production by state;
Obama's home state of Illinois ranks way up there at # 2 with 78 Billions annually. A huge 16.7 percent of all US production.
You first, Barry. Tell the good people of Illinois they are SOL.

Need to add a fourth stack to that illustration.
Ontario Power Generation (that's Dulton, the Ontario Liberal party and the Home of Hypocrisy, otherwise known as Toronto)
Every year they are burning enough coal to put CO2 up the stack in the amount of:
29,000,000 - that's Twenty nine MILLION
Nine times worse that the Oil Sands.

Guys you miss the point it is per capita you have to divide by population, that crazy metric that greens use to justify the Chinese Footprint.
So all we need to do is get 300 million people living in poverty and alakazam 90% reduction, no more co2 emission problem!
Well we do have the US in 10 years, that is 300 Million and the way they are headed....
