With not a moment to spare.
The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.
The Savior will sign it after he gets back from his three day weekend.

Throwing bad money after worse. The bankers have North America by the short n' curlies.
Now, nobody run away, da big bad highwayman isn't gonna stay.
Have a nice life... such as it is.
Can't stay? Oh right, your Mommy just called you upstairs for Sunday pancakes.
Back on topic, it was reported that Nancy Pelosi wanted things rammed through because she had to fly out to Italy Friday evening.
Nice to see the US has a frugal first lady, bringing home the leftover wagyu for Bowser.
The HighwayMan is a 911 Truther and Holocaust Denier. Ignore him.
Troll.
So I guess things like a bad economy take weekends off? Phew. Now I can breath easier.
One definition of Crisis Management:
Create a crisis and then manage it, naturally with time off for three-day weekends.
The Bankers have us? The government has had the banks by those curlies for years. Then when it blows up, they don't know anything other than to blame everybody but themselves. Weasels.
The best analysis yet of the "stimulus package" is that is 28% stimulus and 72% pork for the Democrats.......Taking advantage of using the trojan horse "stimulus package" to sneak through all their favourite agendas which separately would be impossible to sell...
The net effect IMNSHO is that any stimulus will be overwhelmed by the obscene costs of the "progressive" programmes.
Perhaps a better term than "sneak" would be stampede.
in 8-10 months time, when he creates the next crisis and the Dumbocrats launch the next Porkus Gigantus Bill, remember this:

"Ironically, President Obama could really be our savior. In fact, he might be the only person who could get away with what needs to be done. We are talking cutting government programs and raising regressive taxes. No Republican could do this; the electorate would hand him his head."
Well, at least this way he can fulfill, at least partially, his promise of a five-day period for comments before he signs a bill. Amazingly, they have actually published the monstrosity on the White House web site (http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/09/02/13/ARRA-for-comment/), so go comment while you can.
Create a crisis and then manage it, naturally with time off for three-day weekends.

I've never been a conspiracy fan myself, but unlike the right, the left is highly organized, highly motivated and supremely well-funded ...
Cloward-Piven Strategy.
It brought New York to banktuptcy in 1975. Destroyed the financial system in 2008 with ACORN-Sub-prime.
Perversely, this behavior by the Dems makes me feel a bit better. If things were so bad -their- butts were going to be in the wringer they wouldn't be screwing around like this. They'd take it seriously, instead of using it for a pork bonanza opportunity.
Of course, there is the possibility they are even dumber than I think. That would be... bad.
I'm not sure if the stimulus will help that much in the current economic environment. Economies go through cycles and recession is part of the cycle. I read a good article on the history of cycles at, I think,
http://www.recessioninfocenter.com
He farmed out the creation of the bill, now takes a three day weekend before he signs it despite the so called catastrophe that awaits just days away. And his contribution? Well, he preaches fear, then goes to town halls where people chant his name and ask him for things. Just imagine what the media reaction to this flake would be if they were doing their job?
You never want a serious crisis to go to waste.
The Obamas don't have a dog. That restaurant hit the jackpot, so why not share?
Hey Kate:
Will the left's "Messiah" rest after 7 days too.
You know..........he did make everything new.
O's Numbers Racket.
Try to imagine a one hundred billion trillion O's.

" True Cost of Stimulus: $3.27 Trillion
All of the major news outlets are reporting that the stimulus bill voted out of conference committee last night has a meager $789 billion price tag.
This number is pure fantasy.
No one believes that the increased funding for programs the left loves like Head Start, Medicaid, COBRA, and the Earned Income Tax Credit is in anyway temporary. No Congress under control of the left will ever cut funding for these programs. So what is the true cost of the stimulus if these spending increases are made permanent?
Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) asked the Congressional Budget Office to estimate the impact of permanently extending the 20 most popular provisions of the stimulus bill. What did the CBO find? As you can see from the table below, the true 10 year cost of the stimulus bill $2.527 trillion in in spending with another $744 billion cost in debt servicing. Total bill for the Generational Theft Act: $3.27 trillion."

War is the Health of the State
Substitute CRISIS for WAR. Same deal. Government ratchets up; eventually, when the crisis abates, it partially de-ratchets but arrives at a bottom higher than the previous one. Sorta like a secular bull market with corrections.
Most simple folks think big scams are like one act plays when in fact they go on and on. The actors come and go but the scriptwriters are always busy.
Nancy Pelosi to her personal banker, "What do you mean I'm broke, I still have cheques".
Fear and a feeling of complete powerlessness. Exactly as our Founders intended...
that's a whole lot 'o zeros.
I'm praying for Canada Geese.
I can't blame him for disappearing. After all he had to defend the Bill and compliment Pelosi, state there is no pork and ..So what if there is? The smell in Washington must be pretty bad.
"The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote"
Well, this is encouraging, Congressmen vote on a bill they really aren't familiar with, and we're supposed to have confidence in it?
And we know when the media says," didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document", most of them probably never read it at all.
I guess Obama can hold the weight of the word on his shoulders for a few more days.
Me No Dhimmi,
Thanks for the link on the Cloward-Piven Strategy.
A must read.
Voting for (thick) bills without reading them beforehand is more common than you think. The late Barry Goldwater Sr. was complaining about it as far back as the mid-late 1980s.
Out of Respect for Kate, I promised to never post while I was drinking.
So, I am gona get another adult drink and see if they will ever start this Daytona 500.
Glen Beck has a good track record on the major issues.
On Fox now - on Canada's Fox channel ??
Is it any surprise that the Democratic Party Machine wanted this bill passed before members of Congress - let alone the public - had a chance to find out just exactly what's in it ?
And, is it any surprise that, once passed, it would be regarded by Oblaba as a trophy: to be signed during a peak press attention moment ?
Americans are not famous for penetrating insight into their leaders, but betcha they're going to get over this guy pretty quick.
Save the economy?

The urgent necessity is revealed to be just an excuse to get the dumb congressmen to pass it without reading it.
me no dhimmi and garyinwpg - could you explain to me how the Cloward-Piven strategy can be deemed successful?
That is, if the strategy is to 'hasten the fall of capitalism', then the example of overloading the welfare system didn't accomplish that task. The result was a tightening of welfare, and an insistence on more personal responsibility, a key attribute of capitalism.
I also question the premises of the plan, which is socialist/marxist in its binarism between the 'ruling classes' and the 'poor classes' and therefore, since this is a purely fictional setup, is ridiculous.
Can they really substantiate such conspiracy premises as 'the ruling classes used welfare to weaken the poor and prevent rebellion'? Can they substantiate views that 'the poor can advance only when the rest of society is afraid of them'?
This is 19th c coaltowns and Orwell, not economic reality.
"The HighwayMan is a 911 Truther and Holocaust Denier. Ignore him."
And you're an idiot, but I'd still talk to you.
You guys are all scared shitless over this economic thingie, aren't you?
You know what I think it is? It's those "Moozelums", they're behind it. They're backed by space aliens, too.
What's say we kill every last one of the bastards, and make the world safe for us master race types, hmmm?
Can I get a "Whoaaa... let's kill all the Moozelums and space aliens, and make the world safe for us master race types"?
Highwayguy aka Warren Kinsella ; entrapment won't work in your marsupiel hearings. To quote the "Soup Nazi" NO MONEY FOR YOU.
A Presidency of lies. Is there on thing Obama does not prevaricate about?
Whats more funny is how stupid Congree & the Senate where taken in by the false messiah.
These are America's smartest men? Not likely.
Folks, I know it's tempting, but please don't feed the troll.
It's the beginning of the end of a great nation when the unproductive outnumber the productive.
When the money train comes to a stop and the me people are still getting on expecting a free ride and demanding service as usual, it should be fun to watch. They just don't understand that productive people finally say if you are so smart then run this damn train yourself, and walk. Money really does talk, with it's feet, this time the parasites have over eaten.
This election has taken away what you have and what your grand children will never have.
It's the beginning of the end of a great nation when the unproductive outnumber the productive.

So true, WC, and you describe a phenomenon currently in relatively advanced stages underway in the U.K. I look forward with morbid interest how things will unfold in the U.K. in the coming 5-10 years. Unless a strong leader in the mold of Maggie Thatcher emerges, I am not optimistic about the U.K.'s future.
In the U.S., watching this deliberate and blatant abuse of process, called the stimulus package, to put through practically every liberal-left pet project under the sun makes me fear for our cousins south of the line as well.
Nov 2010 should be interesting. Remember people voted for those democratic congressmen/women and senators. Many of them have been there for 30 yrs or more, and you expect things to change.
The voters have changed, grown up, moved, but their elected clones stay the same.
Economy of words: 14.

"“The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money” –Margaret Thatcher."
Revnant Dream - I don't believe that the people and people's representatives, in USA, were taken in by Mr. Obama "GOOD/Savor" thingie. Only a small stupid/silly crowd (msm and followers)bought that junk - and about half of those who voted, voted for President Obama. I think that of the half who supported Mr. Obama; some were taken in by PC some were taken in by a perception of 'guilt' and some were fostering a lust for redemption against the American people as a whole. President Obama can not fix any of these latter citizen's private 'feelings' because responsibility for a nation is not an emotional job; by nature it is objective. Bad/sad as it is though, the USA has elected a President based on subjective reasons, IMO. It appears that the man and his underlings have no interest in the nation; they are fixated on emotional responses to all national responsibilities (much like the Blocheads in Quebec, the latest being the Plains of Abraham; absolutely no interest in the history only an emotional response to a 'perceived' defeat, 250 years ago! Just as an aside, I have a subjective gripe too: if the French had responded with a little more vigor Scotland would not be in the sorry state it is in today, Scotland would have had a successful uprising against the English - if the French had not caved so easily, my ancestors in Scotland would have a country of their own, filled with Scots:as Edward II lamented...I digress). The Valentine dinner thingie - like two teenagers on a date - the trip 'home' - where they really like to be - insinuating that the Obamas are sacrificing their lives for America. It seems to me this script is all underwritten and the President does not have a clue about the perceived script he is following. "Being" President seems to be a lark for him! He acts like some union reps I have had pass by my life: they don't give a rip about the people they represent, they just want to keep their own job. People who have agendas dependant on the good will of others have two distinct faces: the present President has shown both faces and the people of North America and the free world have every justification to be on high alarm alert mode.
The people in congress will have seen both faces; just look at the look on the mugs of those three traitor GOPs in photo posing with the President, I can see the beaten dog look and the shame. They should be ashamed and they should be impeached by the people they are supposed to be representing. As has been said often, on this site: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" Edmund Burke.
There is a valid reason for Justice to be presented blindfolded. This planned, destructive, chaos in America choose a predictable modus operandi considering the fanatical PC mindset in USA today, IMO.

Thanks, Maz... I'm going to remember that one...
With Obama, it's all about other peoples' money.
Sometimes I believe that his agenda is to put America on the road to bankruptcy, using the fearmongering about the economy as an excuse to impose massive new communistic, permanent entitlement programs... which will have to be torn down to save the country someday.
And he's going to raise taxes... saying he has "no choice", 'cause of the so-called "stimulus" package of what's actually trillions of dollars...
Socialistic spending doesn't stimulate economies.
Just watch America stay down under The Exalter Miracle Worker's regime.
Funny how when other industries have fallen on hard times, the leadership has taken an honorable approach and worked for a token $1 per year until the companies were turned around.
Wall Street, on the other hand, showed up as a bunch arrogant whiners and snivellers demanding the right to keep their bonuses.
They are too important to be denied bloated paychecks.
Even inspite of the despicable jobs they have done ru(i)nning their companies.
A columnist the .detnews.com wrote a great column making this great point but it seems to have disappeared for some reason.
O will be screwed in a few short months, broke, approvals plummeting, bankruptcies gaining steam, just in time for the next collapse of 2009, the commercial real estate market.
alinski would be proud!!
Let us see now.
The Chairman thought to bring change and transparency. Even though the dear leader apparently has not got the concept down as to recognize what the two words mean. None the less it has certain well meaning ring to it.
As can be reviewed many times on the net and the news, change, as per the Chairman’s definition is just a phrase to use for the consumption of the masses.
By your agents nonacademic analysis, most of the masses have no clue as to what the Chairman means, though it sounds wonderful, positive nirvana. Some of the masses are aware of the con, though they have no say at this time. Rather small minority are well aware of the program and being of the socialist totalitarian mind work with it in hope of getting some cash benefits.
It is well known fact from the European history of second half of 20th century, the socialist and communists once got in power, will kill (actually, literally) their young.
To gain knowledge of this fact, just look for information on Stalin or other communist regimes. It is not hard to find.
From the history of the US, it is almost incomprehensible to think that this can happen in that country.
See the fall of communism at the end of 20th century; nobody, using common sense would have thought that this would be possible, although some courageous characters like Reagan, Thatcher and likely unwittingly by Gorbachev, have worked for it and made it happen. Otherwise it is doubtful that this would be the course of events.
You see there are not many in politics that will speak the truth. Many on this forum advise Harper to be careful what he does in minority. Minority is not a barrier to state empirical truth.
People in general will accept common sense.
Be aware that Pelosi is not a politician, Pelosi is a bee queen. She will destroy any woman that crosses her path, will do her best to destroy any man that does not work with her. Viz recent difficulty with Dingy Harry.
Pelosi’s reign is not about doing good, is not about her country's economy, for she has no clue, is not about anything other than what she can get out of it for herself.
Free botox, free flights, free parties, free, free, free, of course the worker bees are happy to pay. The person is extreme contrast to Thatcher.
Americans have lost their will in majority. Unfortunately it will take many generations of good (as opposed to recent) conservative (not really, just people that understand, if you have no money you are broke) republicans (dare to say some of the John Kennedy democrats) management to fix things up.
Socialistic spending doesn't stimulate economies.
Sure it does CS. Just look at Queerbec, and BOMBbardier,and....OH wait.
I never thought I would call Yanks stupid, but as Forrest says, stupid is as stupid does.
