I always shudder when leftists use every excuse under the sun to justify "peace-terms" with murderous Islamist forces. It's like they've already decided that we can't defeat the barbarians, so we might as well allow the killers to have their way over millions of people in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Then, I read pieces like the following, where mere children demonstrate incredible courage in the face of barbarism ... where acid burned young women return to school and a Pakistani girl takes on the barbarians with poetry of all things.
I compare this to the loathsome left ... the so-called bastion of the down-trodden and dispossessed, and I realize that the world is upside down ... that left is right; and yesterday's civil rights-fighter is today's bellicose phony ... more concerned with expanding bureaucracies and leeching off of taxpayers than in doing something positive about a very ugly world.
Tuba Sahaab is taking on the Taliban. But the 11-year-old Pakistani girl is no militant and her weapons are simply her words. She lives on the outskirts of Islamabad and writes poems about the pain and suffering of children in her country despite personal threats from hardline Islamic militants."If they kill me, do not worry," she says. "I want everyone in Pakistan to be equal."
The young poet has been interviewed by US network, CNN, and now regularly appears in the media. She is not afraid to express her views and is famous in Pakistan.
"I want to give peace to my nation," she tells CNN (photo). "I will fight for it."
Tuba is strongly opposed to hardliners who have tried to restrict girls from going to school in certain parts of the country.
Before a peace agreement announced in the volatile Swat Valley in the country's northwest on Monday, the Taliban was forcing girls out of the classroom and destroying schools.
"This is very shocking to hear that girls can't go to school, they are taking us back to the Stone Age," Tuba says.

I wish her all the best, and deliverance from her our leftist oppressors
I expanded on your post, itemizing all the various groups that this little girl is braver than. Feel free to leave comments about other such groups I should add to the list.
She would step on Taliban Jack like the little cockroach he is.
There are those who pursue "peace" at all costs. Then, there are those who pursue what is right and just at a greater price. Peace is not, and should not be a means. It should always be what is achieved in the end of a righteous struggle.
Here's the shorter, more pedestrian version:
I'm not eating that freakin' sandwich until you put something between the bread.
This is way off topic here, but was this blog and AceofSpades in the running for best conservative blog?
That is intestinal fortitude. Moreso than some whiny leftist diplomat!
Kate,
I don’t know where to post this so I thought of you
I’ve been thinking about this idea for a while. It is racist, discriminatory, bigoted and absolute murder. It begins with the oft surmised preposition “Why didn’t somebody assassinate Hitler before it was too late? And why was Hirohito allowed to survive after Nanking? (I am aware that Hitler’s own Generals tried & failed on several occasions). Pol Pot and Stalin are two other leaders whose premature deaths would have saved literally millions of lives. In hindsight I don’t think anybody can reasonably say these men were good for mankind. This brings us to UN Declaration R2P, Responsibility to Protect, initiated by Canada. Given the potent form of Islam, Wahibism, maliciously spread by Saudi Arabia, which threatens billions of people, mostly in the third world, I would submit that R2P requires surgical strikes now, to avoid millions of deaths in the near future. The evidence is overwhelming. When little girls are lauded for reading poetry about their oppression, when the very civilizations that created R2P have their own laws turned against the populace, when the very civilizations that create the technologies that alleviate the world’s sufferings are under attack by forces that would drive 6.7 billion people back to the Stone Age, well something very nasty is going to happen to the Human Race. We can either live through the fear, hype & appeasement of pre-WWII and finally commit ourselves, and have to fight hand to hand, body to body, bayonet to machete all over again or use the hindsight gained from WWII, Khmer Rouge, and Russia and try to nip it in the bud. Take out some of the prime instigators such as House of Saud, Ahmadinejad, Taliban and whoever else is deemed despicable by, I dunno, a panel made up by the best informed, most knowledgeable people from agencies that are expert in such things. British SAS, Canadian CSIS, Mossad, Deuxieme Bureaux, Interpol, and, I hesitate to say, but yes the CIA. I would tell ‘em “I want six names” (and leave Kim Jong Il out of it for now).
I fully realize the slippery slope this leads to as exemplified in countless Hollywood movies. However we survived 40 years with the OPUS one button away from mass murdering half the population of the world and the retaliation would have murdered the other half. Whether you believe in capital punishment or not, you do believe in defending yourself (some, not), your house, and your family. If you don’t defend yourself when push comes to shove it is because all your survival instincts have been smothered by the nanny state. I’m a peaceable man, but if somebody comes through my door and threatens me & mine I will kill them if necessary. So maybe the G8 Foreign Affairs Ministers get together and appoint the panel. Maybe Israel should have the honour of initiating it (old hat to them) but six names get distinction. Again, the agencies involved can determine execution of the plan. No big hurry, it took years to arrive where we are now. I would even give fair warning to the individuals. I would have no qualms privately telling King Saud “OK we know what you’re upto, (all smiling faces) you stop now or you are going to have a heart attack. And if your Princes step up to the plate, they’ll have heart attacks too,(smile & nod). But over the course of time King Saud will have a heart attack, Ahmadinejad will be inspecting a nuclear facility when it blows up, Hezbollah and Hamas financiers and idolized leaders have terrible accidents, hell just send Mossad strike teams after them, with the intelligence and precision weaponry the good guys have, these annihilative goons could all be gone in an afternoon. But like I said, no hurry. Gaza has proven how gullible and deceivable the MSN are. A little misdirection here (Russian missile), a little legerdemain there, (their own bomb blew up) and in a couple of years the world will be a friendlier place. Does the end justify the means?
Mo the Teddy .
yes , in fact the bunker buster was made to whack Saddam. the first gulf war was halted when Saddam realized his own a$$ was on the line.
in the next war he skidded himself and was found hiding in a wormhole. a few months later the Iraqi people got to give him a necktie as an early birthday present.

"In the Swat Valley, where a young Winston Churchill once served with the Malakand Field Force battling Muslim insurgents, his successors have concluded the game isn't worth the candle. In return for a temporary ceasefire, the Pakistani government agreed to let the local franchise of the Taliban impose its industrial strength version of Sharia across the whole of Malakand Region. Malakand has more than five million people, all of whom are now living under a murderous theocracy. Still, peace rallies have broken out all over the Swat Valley, and, at a Swat peace rally, it helps to stand well back: As one headline put it, "Journalist Killed While Covering Peace Rally."

"Into a Taliban wasteland of blood and fear
Daud Khattakis the first reporter for a British paper to enter Swat Valley, Pakistan, since the rebels who hold it agreed a ceasefire. He finds a hell-hole of bodies and ruin"
"Last week I became the first journalist from a British paper since the ceasefire to venture past the heavily armed Taliban checkpoints and travel into the valley.
The journey was not made without trepidation. On Wednesday a journalist for Pakistan’s Geo television network, Musa Khan Khel, 28, was killed when he tried to secure an interview with Fazlullah. In a characteristic Taliban flourish, there were signs that his killers had attempted to behead him.
What I found in Swat was a hell-hole."

Mo -- I don't usually read walls of text. Many blog/forum readers don't. You make some excellent points, and to ensure the widest audience possible, I respectfully recommend you break your posts into paragraphs.
as Pohoretz says, this is world war 4..
i suggest anyone in doubt of the appropriate attitude and measures to take read Churchill's history of WW 2..
obviously we are in a kind of those selfsame locust years....but soon enough an affront from that massive international conspiracy of muslims, barbaric enough to waken the great mass of the common western man wallowing in self indulgence will come to pass...
then a mad scramble to find the leaders..those with a strategy and a will directed otherwise than appeasement or armistice...
same old same old...til today the few positive confrontational attempts to stifle the disease is suborned and subverted by the self appointed gutless basically left wing idealists...
believe me when i tell you it ain't gonna get better til it gets a whole lot worse...
john begley - we've previously had a few back and forths - I have been thinking a lot lately, and have determined that (in my opinion) the only way that the battle can be won is to frame "civilization" vs "tribalism".
That removes the religious aspect from the debate (of course it doesn't, but at least it can be argued as such)
Tribalism? Polygamy, oppression of women, domination by a few elites, lack of progress because of fear of change and loss of control, and an aggressive and militaristic approach to all problems.
Civilization? The rights of the individual, equality regardless of race, age, gender, religion, leading to inherent dynamism, etc etc
It may work. Maybe not.
poor eriklarsen...obviously a llliberal in transition to right wing tooth and claw barbarity...
kill them erik...kill every one of the enemy you can find til their leadership cries mercy and rolls over to become senators in Canada or sumpin.....
your lloyd axworthy style interventions won't bear fruit for 50 years even IF you had a receptive audience...
which you don't.
but have a nice day son...
Colin:
Yeah, sorry about that. Wrote in Word first and I guess when I pasted it, lost format. Should have noticed in "Preview". My apologies.
As I've noted elsewhere, "liberalism" used to mean more personal freedom, diversity of views, and greater personal liberty. It was a great and noble cause.
Today, it's been twisted into a neo-fascist attempt to impose the ideology of the few against the wishes of the many (which in many cases, is just to be left alone) - but only against the cowed populaces of the West. Against the murderous Islamist thugs, these so-called "liberals" (in which I lump in the Liberals, NDP, Bloc, Greens, Labour, most Democrats and half the Republicans, plus a bunch of European parties whose names I don't know), their "concern" for human rights completely evaporates, and they turn turtle. They know that opposing these murdering bastards means making hard choices, like more expensive oil, killing some innocent citizens along with the Islamists, and risking terror retaliation. Now that would hit the cushy Liberals in their own homes, so of course the cowards are shit-scared of that.
I mean seriously - if I'd been Bush, I would have ordered they destroy Mecca in retaliation for 9/11. I'd show the bastards that for every act they take against us, we'll take a much harder once against them. Islamists don't understand "turn the other cheek"; they only understand brutal force.
The sad thing is, it's going to take at least another 9/11 - and probably more - before the West acts. And, as Steyn points out, in a few more years, Muslims will be in a position to significantly affect elections in Western Europe, so that's going to hamstring them.
But as Howard Beale said in Network "First, you've got to get mad. You've got to turn off your TV's, get out of your chairs, go to the window, and shout 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more!'". And in our complacent society, I just don't see that happening.
You seem as full of hatred against 'leftists' as you do against "islamists'. Maybe moreso.
But what the hell has Bush, or the right done, that's so great? Invade Iraq? How'd that turn out?

Hmm. A secular democracy in the middle east, an American ally, with two successive successful elections. Saddam executed. Al-Quada in Iraq summarily defeated.
Despite some early setbacks, I'd say it turned out well for American interests.
john begley, well, OK, good luck with that, let me know how it turns out
Colin
I don't get it - how does any of that relate to Cjunk's post, about an 11 year old girl defying the Taliban? They defeated Al Queda in Iraq? Well, hell, they weren't even there before the US invaded.
You think throwing trillions of dollars into a war that they 'thought' would be paid for by oil revenues is good for American interests? How's that, Colin? Are you speaking of war profiteers?
Again, how does Cjunk's ranting about how 'loathesome' leftists are even relate to his citing the Pakistani girl's story? The right wing has done nothing to be proud of in this situation. He's just letting off a lot of hatred for no reason.
real -- I was answering your own question. If you're wondering what my answer has to do with the OP, ask yourself why the hell you asked your own question to begin with.
Freakin' leftard.
Well, Colin
Given that the thrust of my post was that the right has done nothing to affect the plight of the Pakistani girl, one might assume that the "How'd that work out?" related, you know, to the subject of my post rather than general "American interests".
What's with the "leftard" stuff? Is that supposed to be some sort of clever put-down? Surely you must be able to make your points without schoolyard made-up putdowns, no?
Now that Kate's site is "Best Conservative Blog" in the universe, can we now expect more clever trolls, gotcha-baiters and misdirection attempts?
Memes and MSM seem to go together for some reason.
Clever put down?
*chuckle*
It's an accurate descriptor IMHO.
I wonder if anyone would have ever even heard of the Pakistani girl before Bush put the boot to these bastards throats. Something tell's me she would have been just another dead girl who couldn't keep her mouth shut.
"poor eriklarsen...obviously a llliberal in transition to right wing tooth and claw barbarity..."
No,John Bagel,,,,,that would be what the left wants to roll over on and let in.I'm sure the Khadrs love you to!Nice try at the reversal, though.

Most definitely.See Highwayman as the perfect example of leftard trolling and link-whoring.
cjunk writes: "I realize that ... yesterday's civil rights-fighter is today's bellicose phony."
I knew them then, and they were always bellicose phonies.
justnotthinkinenuff...
i have no idea what your message meant to convey...none whatsoever..
like it or not you're in a war...try to remember that...the survival of your way of life is in the balance....you face an implacable extremely well organized barbaric foe....your defences are manned by far too great a number of appeasers and naive effete ideologues....the world body designed to adjudicate and police international peace is controlled by rogue states and financed by other rogue states...
what's not to like you ask ?
Real: You are clearly unfamiliar with Canadian politics and Canada's role in Afghanistan ... or playing dumb. The post is directed chiefly at the Canuck Left.
But then, I guess to give it a global twist, one can look at the leftist love affair with Hamas, Hezbollah, and even Hugo.
I have no clue what you are running on about,John.I realize fully I am at war with socialism/letardism/Islam.My defences are most assuredly NOT manned by appeasers. The effete have only one reason to appear at my door.I'll let you figure out the reason.
There are many forms of courage, this type leaves me in awe. I hope she lives and can contribute to her nation's future.
real - you're close, but not accurate about just one thing: we don't "hate" leftists here - we despise their worldview and feel contempt for their stupidity certainly, maybe sometimes bordering on pity, but frankly you're not SUBSTANTIAL enough to merit hate. It's like hating a bowl of sawdust - what's the point? It'll still just be sawdust, you can't change it into something useful and nutritious like oatmeal.
To some of the others here - yep, you have it dead on: we are the true liberals now. Liberalism is about freedom, especially of thought. That has long been a dead ideal in leftist society, I mean, my god, it's exactly the opposite: they cherish conformity of thought and opinion, like a bunch of damn parrots (lemmings might make a better analogy). dissent results in letters to Ministers a la Kinsella: shut up opposing viewpoints at all costs. "No such thing as consequence-free speech" as some utter buffoon wrote regarding Kathy Shaidle's guest spot on The Agenda.
It is now obvious in every walk of life that conservatives are the people truly concerned with freedom, with reason, with rationality, with sanity for our society and, god willing, for the world. leftists are only interested in mass control; no wonder they identify so strongly with Fascist pigs like Al-Qaeda and Hamas. Moreover, conservatives represent humanity's best hope, since we are optimistic enough to believe that people are genuinely interested in BEING free and rational.
Hope the idea of us having inherited the mantle of liberalism doesn't leave TOO bad a taste in some mouths... :)
Hey Mike
Thanks for clarifying things. Your post is a veritable fire hazard since it's filled with so many straw man arguments. Like the intemperate rant which inspired this thread, in which the plight of a Pakistani girl is used a platform for cjunk to spew bile against 'leftists', when there's no logical connection between the two topics at all, your bizarre linking of disparate points is simply another opportunity to release the hatred you guys seem so full of.
It gives some creedence to the theory that your type is filled with endless bitterness and resentment for which 'politics' is simply a handy outlet.
It all comes to a marvelous head in your proclamation that "leftists...identify so strongly with Al Queda" Of course, you have nothing to back up this preposterous statement - it's simply more incoherent ranting on your part.
A little rich, though, don't you think, when it was your side who chose to ignore Al Queda, the perpetrators of the biggest mass murder on American soil, and divert all resources to the neocon pet project in Iraq - completely unrelated to Al Queda & its attack on 9-11? It was your side who dropped the ball on Al Queda and decided that avenging 9-11 wasn't a big deal after all. It was your side's guy whose father (George H W Bush) was in a business meeting with Bin Laden's brother on the day of 9-11. Hmmmm.
To all you all you facists: Keep praying.
