Good-bye Mo, thank you for your work. Good on you for getting the best deal for yourself and your family. Well-done on your hard work. I trust you'll forgive me if I hope you and Ritchie Hall fail against the Riders.
Hello Moose Jaw native Joe McGrath and welcome back Jamie Boreham, the best punter in the league!
I do have one complaint, James Johnson, '07 GC MVP traded to the Peg for ankle tape . . . oh, sorry, I mean a 2011 draft pick. That was a little classless if you want my opinion. He single-handedly won us the GC with his three picks and I think that trade was demeaning to the reputation of the club.
In this football mad province this version of the Rider brass has made huge commitments to acquiring home-grown talent. In the final quarter of last years season the home-province boys shone. Indeed, all that is gold does not glitter! Over at Riderville, in today's video-scrum, Ken Miller alluded to Canadians at receiver but only if they are the best player. In this province, with the boom still going strong, the Riders are positioned to benefit. Benefit from the investment in football programs for young students (Go Sheldon-Williams Spartans!), benefit from the incredibly successful Regina Rams and Saskatoon Hilltops, benefit from the programs at UoR and the demonstrable success of the UoS.
Every Saskatchewan football player, boy and girl, dreams of playing for the Riders, now we know. We know we can! This club has taken the cue from the Montreal Allouette's dedication to Quebec athletes. We can compete, we can win! We are the ones who will take this club to the next level. We have been waiting for the club to notice us. They have. Now it's up to us, the ball is in our court. Now we have to deliver. Deliver talent, deliver ticket sales, deliver support. We have to deliver, because our conditions have been met. We either believe or we don't. This is a place to be or it isn't. I believe that this is the place to be.
I believe in Saskatchewan.
Go Riders!

Yeah, Go Riders & take the Stampeders with you.
I saw the RIDERS in Calgary in '05 I think. Lost the game but won my heart.
Tailgate parties at the hotel at 3:00 in the afternoon, WAR PAINT, watermelon helmets, miniature GREEN Styrofoam combines for hats, no kidding!!
"RIDER PRIDE" :
... best god^mn slogan EVER!
To quote a most recently worn out, over used, and now meaningless phrase, "Yes we can!"
Amen. Watching our home grown boys step up last year was great. When you need a fix of grass roots Saskatchewan football, watch the trailer from "Season of Dreams" that was produced a couple of years ago. I bought the DVD and it never fails to inspire.
oh yeah, welcome back Lance...
I hope the Rider Nation does as well as last year! oh, should I re-phrase that?
ok, how about a "I really hope the Riders do well this year".
there I said it, no conditions.
That start of the season rush last year *almost* put a scare in me. It'd be cool for them to do it again and wrap up a post season game early on,
and again, I wonder where the Ottawa fans are? and I hope Moncton has a team sometime in the medium future too. any Schooners fans listening? Montreal re-signed Calvillo, another year as the only real team in the east? jajaja, probably!
Andy Fantuz is the franchise player for Regina, if he stays healthy and plays up to his ability, Regina is in the game to the end. Note: Everyone knows that the Regina Rough riders only changed thier name to prevent Saskatoon from buying the team in ~ 1975. "Saskatchewan", the name, provided for a TV Blackout province wide and solved thier financial woes. They are still the Regina Rough Riders
Andy Fantuz has the talent & heart to play in the NFL.. lose him and its game over.. What was Regina's record before he was hurt? 6 - 0
JMHO
Marc,
You know that I was thinking of you the entire time I wrote this post, right?
I was. Enjoy it, your team, you, and the Stamps fans deserve it.
This year.
Come June we're all looking to knock off the defending champs.
Cheers,
lance
I already have Grey Cup tickets pre-pre booked.
If the Riders don't make it watching a title defense on home turf would be a nice consolation prize...
STAMPS RULE! ...don't ever forget it.
Lance,
JJ was a free-lancing, one hit wonder liability, who deservedly lost his starting position last year. Denatay Heard will make you forget his name very quickly. I wish JJ well, but there is no slight on the club's part toward him.
Philip,
With all due respect:
F You.
Saskatchewan Roughriders. So it shall be written, so it shall be done.
I think the Riders will do great this year with the signings of MacGrath, Clermont, Wagner, and all the recent re-signings. I'm glad they didn't break the bank on Mo Money and Anton since they didn't want to play for the Big Green Machine anymore anyways.
ps- JMHO, Quit being a jackass.

James Johnson had a terrific Grey Cup game and was rewarded by being named MVP of the game. He probably had the game of his life, but it wasn't so much his great pass coverage- the receivers had him beat on two of them- it's more that an inexperienced quarterback gift wrapped a couple of picks for him.
The 2008 season began with an air of optimism. Then his true ability started to show with his lousy coverage that resulted in numerous big gains/scores, so much so that they finally benched him on D and gave him a shot at returning punts. That was even worse- what with his 3yd returns and his fumbles! Overall, he should be credited for 2 or 3 of the Rider's losses.
There was no place for him on the 2009 roster, and with the impending $10,000 bonus due in the tight salary cap world of the CFL, the Riders were right in making the trade and getting at least something in return.
Good luck in Winnipeg, JJ. (or should I say good luck, Winnipeg)?
