Media starting to turn against Obama already.

CNBC's Santelli tears up Mortgage Plan. Literally.

There have been some great discussions and links at Joanne's Blue Like You blog, following the overly tacky posting of Iggy and Obama on the screen in Times Suare. Iggy claims he knew nothing.
He's so in charge it just slipped right by him...apparently.
Taber of course loved it...

TERROR chiefs plan to flood our streets with heroin in a terrifying plot to wage “chemical jihad” on Britain.

And they have been using hate-filled Muslim gangs as their UK dealers.

Pakistani and Afghan-based al-Qaida and Taliban warlords are sitting on a £6billion stash of deadly heroin.

And they have ordered their dealers to sell it only to non-Muslims.

Ron, I'd like to believe that what you're saying is true but my sense is that 80% - 90% of the media are still protecting him.

On a bigger note, I heard a disturbing discussion on WABC Radio (out of NYC) this evening. Simply put, if those Americans paying little to nothing in taxes have now collectively realized that through democracy they can control those who do pay the freight then America is doomed. I do not *think* this has happened yet but if & when it ever does, we are all truly up the creek without you-know-what!

Obama is the Pres. He's the big guy and he has a tuff job.

I'm going to hold back on judging this guy for a while.

I think Eric Margolis in the Toronto Sun is starting to diss him, and I think a bunch of left wing guys are as well because he is sending 17K more American troops to Afgh. as a start. I think that Obama is a centrist type of guy. This guy might turn out to be pretty good.

On another topic, it is great to see "Slumdog Millionaire" do good at the oscars. I enjoyed this movie. I've only been to India for about a week - but this movie rang true - except that I thought the Taj stuff was corny. As strange as it seems , this movie is a huge confidence builder for Indians. I remember going to hotels and restaurants with Indian colleagues - and I was always treated much better than them even though I was not Indian - I am an extremely white blue-eyed mick and it was disgusting that they were putting themselves down - so I hope that Indians realize how great and unique they are - and who knows - there could be an Indian American in the White House in 4 or 8 years.

"Former defence minister maintains UFOs 'irrefutable'

'As far as I'm concerned, it's irrefutable."

Paul Hellyer is in his downtown Toronto office on a Saturday morning, just as he is the first five mornings of every week, still driven at 85 years of age.

He has been finishing up a book, his 13th, that is part memoir, and so he has been looking back on a remarkable career that once made him Canada's youngest member of Parliament, that took him to key cabinet posts in the governments of Lester Pearson and Pierre Trudeau and that had him run for the leadership of the two main national parties and even form his own political party.

Lately he has not been looking backward - but into the future.

A future in which humans will have to accept they are far from alone in this universe.

Hellyer's "irrefutable" evidence received a bit of pumping this past week. A Winnipeg group that tracks UFO sightings across Canada says 2008 produced a record number of sightings - 1,004 - a 25 per cent increase from the year before."

What a profound short little paragraph that says it all!!!

"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy
out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another
person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to
anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody
else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other
half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is
going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of
any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

The suit was filed by Warren Kinsella, a Liberal lobbyist and the head of Ignatieff’s war-room. It’s clearly a nuisance suit, designed with two goals in mind:"

Spengler, Sex, drugs and Islam

Political Islam returned to the world stage with Ruhollah Khomeini's 1979 revolution in Iran, which became the most aggressive patron of Muslim radicals outside its borders, including Hamas in the Palestinian territories and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Until very recently, an oil-price windfall gave the Iranian state ample resources to pursue its agenda at home and abroad. How, then, should we explain an eruption of social pathologies in Iran such as drug addiction and prostitution, on a scale much worse than anything observed in the West? Contrary to conventional wisdom, it appears that Islamic theocracy promotes rather than represses social decay...

"Hamra Street

I’m not going to add anything to the narrative describing how Christopher Hitchens and two other journalists were assaulted on Hamra Street, West Beirut. The persons who were there on the occasion can describe it themselves. But since words often fail to give a sense of what the scene looked like, and since it involved a short foot pursuit, I’ve posted a trio of pictures after the Read More to give readers a flavor of the street and its environs.

The first image is a panorama of Hamra Street with the site of the infamous “Syrian Nazi” poster highlighted in full color while the rest of has been blued. The sign that Hitchens wrote on — what he wrote I will leave to him to say — is not really a poster, but a commemorative sign marking the spot where members of that organization — the SSNP — once killed two IDF soldiers at a place called the Wimpy Cafe. As the NationMaster site says:

One of the best-known early actions of the resistance was the killing of two Israeli soldiers in the Wimpy Cafe on west Beirut’s central Rue Hamra by party member Khalid Alwan. The party continues to commemorate this date. A party member, Habib Shartouni, was also responsible for the assassination of Lebanese president Bachir Gemayel in a bomb attack on 14 September 1982.

Whatever the SSNP may lack these days, ferocity is probably not one of them. The Wimpy Cafe is gone, but the site of the killings is commemorated by signs. In addition to the panorama of the street are two zooms showing the poster itself. You can the see the stylized swastika on the sign which had been cleaned up in the interval. Please click on the pictures to enlarge them to full size."

"Obama’s Homeless Woman Is Actually Real Estate Investor

We all know them. People that abuse the system. People that work a few months of the year, just long enough to qualify for unemployment, and then jump on the unemployment bandwagon. Those that get food stamps to support their families despite being able bodied, often educated and capable of work. And, of course, the people that work “under the table” while receiving government aid intended for the truly needy.

One such image sticks in our minds from a visit last year to a local softball game. Across the street was a truck distributing food for the needy. A brand new Mercedes pulled up and out popped a couple that walked over and jumped in line. How someone driving a $60,000.00 car qualifies for free food is beyond our imagination, but somehow these people find any way they can to abuse the system.

During Obama’s campaign to promote his stimulus package, he staged an event with a woman, Henrietta Hughes, who, as it turns out, appears to be anything but truly needy. Henrietta was given an audience with Obama to beg for a home. When aid was provided via the offer of free rent by an opportunistic politician, the liberal press spouted that Henrietta was actually given a free home and implied it came from Obama. The lie has propagated through the liberal media and, quite honestly, it nauseated us because it was so obviously staged and such a distorted lie. Well, as it turns out, the lie didn’t end there."
