Hee hee, well that's the end of Kathy's career on TVO!
Paikin asked her what she thought of Obama's inauguration. Kathy replied that she didn't watch. Paikin was completely dumbstruck - she's the only person he's met who didn't watch. She told him that he needs to expand his circle of acquaintances, and then said that if she wanted to hear a Marxist prof she'd go to college. Paikin was ticked off, gave up on Kathy and asked the question of another guest.
Priceless.
ron in kelowna....I hope he sues their green asses off, right into bankruptcy. As one poster there suggested, may a class action?
Well done,Kathy. Brava!!!
No inauguration in this house either.
Considering Obama's inauguration was about 6 months long, it's no wonder a lot of us didn't bother watching the final day.
I didn't watch the inauguration of Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Johnson or Kennedy and had I been old enough I wouldn't have watched Eisenhower, Truman, Roosevelt... I am much more interested in the substance of the man and the policies he brings forward than the theatrics of inaugurations.
So far, apart from scandal and ill advised policy, there isn't much to watch coming from the Big Owe.
Woo wee! that was one boring video.
Yes, well, the queens we use would not excite you.
Last presidential parade I watched, there was gunfire, and the conspiracy industry was born!
I think red, white and blue bunting are funeral colours , but that's just me.

Bravo, Vitruvius, although I don't expect that pete e will necessarily take your meaning. The reference is a wee bit obscure.

Really, really badly set-up site, lots of poor quality photos (the ones I sent in are OK-looking), huge pages and rambling. Cool, though.
Thanks, Exetaz, understood. Yet they will go wandering blithely through life oblivious to Martha's Sons bringing them the water and food and fuel they depend on, and providing their shelter, and their transportation, and carrying away their sewage, until it all breaks down, and then they'll whine and complain about it, blaming the politicans, when they have only themself, the voter, to blame.

Back in the day, Liberals talked breezily about the Reform party's "racist immigration policy" because they wanted to base immigration decisions on one's fitness for employment in Canada!
It seems that it wasn't reduced immigration they objected to after all. It was that those immigrants should get jobs.
This would only interest Christians with what it means. Its like picking up the paper reading the Bible these day's.

"Queen's University axes language cops
Queen's University in Kingston, Ont., has scrapped its "dialogue facilitator" program, calling it "incompatible with the atmosphere required for free speech." A scandal arose last year when it was revealed the student "facilitators" were mandated to intervene in private conversations to encourage discussion of social justice issues and discourage offensive language. In a report to the administration, a panel of experts noted the risk of "making students feel unsafe or under surveillance because of their opinions.""

Cross post from last night:
Steve Paikin of TVO is worshipping at the shrine of Obama.
[On Wednesday], he was convinced that the end of the "Me Generation"'s infatuation with itself was, after Bush [sic], a thing of the past.
[Yesterday], Paikin opined that, with the coming of Obama, the "culture wars" are over.
Steve, what do the words "Sarah Palin" mean to you?
(I guess they mean, "We won".)
Kyrie eleison.
Today: Steve Paikin’s pampered, ivory tower existence and his impregnable arrogance—the nice guy mask is just that: he’s as left-wing, elitist, and as prickly as Kinsella about being challenged—were astonishingly exposed when he excoriated Kathy for not watching the inauguration. How dare she! (Happily, I didn’t watch either.) Kathy had obviously committed the unpardonable sin in the Church of Obama: she questioned his teachings and his omnipotence. In Paikin’s mind that means she’s a heretic and not worthy of inclusion.
If I’d been Kathy, I’d have taken Paikin on and pointed out both his chauvinism and the fact that, via media of various kinds, I was quite able, thank you, to form and provide an opinion. Paikin’s put-down here was juvenile and exceedingly rude, but not surprising for an Obama true believer and acolyte. The good thing is that Steve let his nice guy mask slip. Maybe more people will now realize that he’s neither nice nor balanced (or even reasonable) in his political outlook. Honestly, re Obama, one wonders if Steve has a little blue dress!

Three years ago, Revenue Canada wrote off $500,000 in back taxes it says Radwanski owed. A few months later, Prime Minister Jean Chrétien appointed Radwanski privacy commissioner, complete with a salary of more than $200,000.
Radwanski avoided bankruptcy by proposing to pay $60,000 of the bill

"Australian brush fires: Police release suspect photo
Victorian police have released a composite photo of a man wanted for questioning over the Australian brush fires that killed at least 181 people and which authorities suspect may have been started by arsonists.
The man in the composite photo, who police say is in his early 20s and has a dark complexion, is believed to have information about a suspicious fire at Ivanhoe East, in Melbourne's north-east."

"Climate scientists blow hot and cold
Antarctic warming isn't evidence of climate change – despite what scientists would have us believe Just about every major outlet has jumped on the news: Antarctica is warming up.
Most previous science had indicated that, despite a warming of global temperatures, readings from Antarctica were either staying the same or even going down.
The problem with Antarctic temperature measurement is that all but three longstanding weather stations are on or very near the coast. Antarctica is a big place, about one-and-a-half times the size of the US. Imagine trying to infer our national temperature only with stations along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, plus three others in the interior.
Eric Steig, from University of Washington, filled in the huge blanks by correlating satellite-measured temperatures with the largely coastal Antarctic network and then creating inland temperatures based upon the relationship between the satellite and the sparse observations. The result was a slight warming trend, but mainly at the beginning of the record in the 1950s and 1960s. One would expect greenhouse effect warming from carbon dioxide to be more pronounced in recent years, which it is not."

"Are Lapses Of Best And Brightest Prelude To Our Decline And Fall?
By VICTOR DAVIS HANSON | Posted Thursday, February 12, 2009 4:20 PM PT
Most historians agree that earthquakes, droughts or barbarians did not unravel classical Athens or imperial Rome.
More likely the social contract between the elite and the more ordinary citizens finally began breaking apart — and with it the trust necessary for a society's collective investment and the payment of taxes. Then civilization itself begins to unwind."

"The Obama administration finds a bomb in Iran
[The following is a guest post from "TigerHawk," cross-posted here with permission from Richard, who is on the road. The story seems important, and has received scant attention in the media or blogosphere.]
Most political blog readers will remember the storm of controversy that erupted in early December 2007, when a new American “National Intelligence Assessment” claimed that Iran had stopped development of a nuclear weapon in 2003. The New York Times wrote that “[rarely], if ever, has a single intelligence report so completely, so suddenly, and so surprisingly altered a foreign policy debate here.” Blogs exploded.
Lefty blogs rejoiced. At the Daily Kos diarists mocked Bush, Cheney, McCain, Romney, and Huckabee for having taken various hawkish positions on the subject. The Booman Tribune claimed vindication, having “spent a lot of electrons over the last year writing to you about a committed and sustained misinformation campaign to suggest that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program.” Crooks and Liars wrote that “[i]f it’s possible to make Bush look any stupider—the new NIE report on certainly Iran does.” At the HuffPo, Jon Soltz declared “World War III plans stymied by National Intelligence Estimate.” And so forth. There are literally hundreds of similar posts.
So imagine my interest to see the Los Angeles Times report that the intelligence agencies have reversed themselves again;"

charles krauthammer has a nice article in yesterday's Washington Post, on the election in Iraq, which was a great success for Iraqi democracy.
Krauthammer noted that this event 'barely pierced the Washington consciousness' and I'd add, it most certainly was ignored by the world's leftists who pride themselves that 'people out there' have not only no capacity for democracy but even, have made the choice to reject it.
A concern is that Obama's indifference to foreign policy will endanger Iraqi democracy as he hastens to forget that enabling such a democracy is part of American history. Obama's focus is on his own textual narrative as he and he alone writes it; this means that his interest in foreign policy is limited unless he can manipulate the people involved to view him as a Sovereign-Saviour. It is far easier for Obama to engage in mass propaganda in the USA; he won't venture into foreign areas.

Re Christopher Pauchy: I heard the CBC radio news today, concerning the healing circle taking place on the Yellow Quill Reserve to discuss his case.
The female reporter "reported" that he took his young daughters outside "after he'd been drinking". I don't recall the "reporter" reporting that both children ended up frozen to death in their diapers and that Pauchy hadn't even remembered he'd taken them outside until many hours after the fact.
CBC is an utter disgrace. I wish that the Christopher Pauchys and Omar Khadrs would be assigned to the useful idiots at CBC and elsewhere (like, with our judges) for their so-called rehabilitation. Both CBC headquarters and the idiots who serve it would soon be run ragged (at the least) by the dysfunctional and anti-social “cuties” whose rights they believe are more important than those whose lives these deviants so cavalierly snuffed out.

The medicine bottles were filled with explosives, holes were drilled in the caps, and fuses were installed. Once Hamas fighters lit the fuses, they had several seconds to throw the grenades at soldiers. The IDF also found small explosive devices that used medical syringes to hold their fuses...
