Diane Sawyer looks to become the next Dan Rather;
In an interview with Sen. John McCain on Monday, anchor Diane Sawyer described Limbaugh’s “I hope he fails” comment as “another big issue in the news.”
She then tossed to a sound bite comprising two separate comments made five days apart, which ABC joined together. The edited comment made it sound like Limbaugh wants Obama to fail because he’s black.
Here’s the ABC version of Limbaugh’s comment:
Limbaugh: “I don’t need 400 words. I need four. I hope he fails.”

“Good Morning America” took the first sentence from Limbaugh’s Jan. 16 radio program. The second sentence comes from Limbaugh’s January 21 appearance on Sean Hannity’s TV show.
The original quote from Limbaugh was the hope that Obama's apparent attempt to turn the U.S. into a socialist country would fail.
On that point, I would agree with him.
Fortunately, the first three words of the U.S. Constitution will take care of that: ‘We the People.'
Far as I can tell, the average American taxpayer is fed up with having somebody else piling debt on them, whether it be Bush or Obama.

I work with many smart people but I am amazed at how (un)savvy most people are with "news" media, yet they are very savy with the rest of the media(ie ent). I have spoken with people I respect who get their news/current events from YouTube. For example, I had one person tell me how he "hated Fox News because it's way too right wing". I proceeded to ask him if he has watched Fox news and he said "no" but he's "seen some clips on YouTube". This is not an isolated event, and I think people like Sawyer can do massive amounts of damage with their misleading propaganda.
I think it is crucial that we teach our kids how to navigate the internet and the news media. It is my opinion that my kids are not being taught the necessary critical thinking skills at school so the job falls to the parents. I have found that a 9yr old can comprehend and analyze most issues very intelligently if they have access to the pertinent information.

This is why we are losing so badly. Because of the demographic of conservative supporters and the “technological generation gap” conservatism has been relegated to the equivalent of the old man who still can't program his VCR. I'm with you there. In high school I was left leaning, but I also wasn't familiar or interested in politics and current events. It wasn't until I was paying my way through University by working two jobs (around 65+ hours a week) that I started moving to the right. It angered me one year when I unexpectantly entered the next tax bracket and I ended up owing the government money.

The reason why conservatism is disappearing or at least getting quieter is because the kids who actually are conservative in school learn to shut up or accept that they will (for the rest of their academic lives) be on the defense from attacks from their left-leaning teachers, councillors, administrators and indoctrinated peers. The ones that might be conservative watch those who openly are, and in school, its worse than coming out of the closet, because instead of acceptance of your differences (which kids are now taught in school if one of their peers "comes out"), you're ostracized for not following what everyone is being taught is right (because kids are told quite regularly that conservatives are bad!).
