Not Waiting For The Asteroid

Ahhhhhhhh. I may shed a tear,I feel so sad/bad for them....heh

I hope our papers do not fold -- I enjoy reading the news I have read on the internet, the day before, in print...

The cells in the corpse are finally dying away. Its certain there is no brain activity. That went a long time ago. Maniacal leftist "Progressivism" merged with lies implanted for misdirection that laid bare the nakedness of modern Journalism. The bias coupled to a desire for power worship This was only a few of the corrosive acids in the Cynical Kool-Aide chalice the MSM has drunk. That’s what killed this Beast in 2008. This is just the decaying gases.

I'll tell you what I think after these fellows let me know.

Hm, so what are we to line the bird/rodent cages with?
And just think of all those poor puppies that won't get paper trained!
Oh the (SOB) horror!
Kate you are so mean, and here I thought you were a true dog lover, hmp turning you over to PETA, stat!

This is pathetic more than anything. All my life, through various careers I have prided myself on staying abreast of the latest in my field of endeavor. I've tried to stay alert for the next wave, for innovations that would change the way I do my job. When something newer and better has come along, I've made the effort to assess, comprehend and change if indicated. It hasn't always been easy. I've had to spend a lot of late nights with books and attending courses where I was side by side with youngsters who could, frankly, learn the techniques faster, easier, and better than I could. But I persevered because that's what it takes to be current in one's field and give real added value to the system or one's patients.
These newspaper workers and editors just don't get it. Far from being the "progressive" liberals they boast of being, overtly or tacitly, they are in fact the most ultra-conservative, ultra-orthodox, ossified dinosaurs in the information era. Their world has passed them by and they plainly and simply cannot or will not see it. They are doomed -- utterly and completely doomed, and they lack even the most rudimentary comprehension of their own predicament. They're to be pitied more than scorned.

Rather than pitied I suggest we have a memorial service. Those whom failed to adapt have found their natural end.

One could say the pride cometh before the fall but I don't think there was much to be proud about.

Finally some bad news is good news. Its enough to bring a tear to a glass eye.

It sounds like CanWest is about to be put on an ice flow and pushed into that dark nite. Wonder what'll happen to the National Post - they're on our side for the most part. But on a more cheerful note the Toronto Star lost $ 211,000,000 in the 4th quarter and had to cut dividends in half. They may need a defibrelator - hope the batteries are dead.

And while we're on the topic of the MSM suffering the death of a thousand cuts I hear CTV lost 100 mil and had to write down properties by 1.7 billion which represents 3/4 of their value. They have to cut back on Llyod's embalming allowance.

It goes deeper. US FedGovCo is exploding like a supernova. One last rapid expansion, all light, smoke and mirrors and very little substance and then collapse. No one reads newspapers, or watches national news on TV anymore either. The news has become irrelevant as well as untrustworthy.

The USSR died 20 years ago, unable to maintain a repressed society in the internet age. Soviet society was felled by the silicon chip. The USA surfed that wave but is tumbling now under a tsunami of systemic corruption that gave us subprimes, derivatives and the DC kleptocracy.

Blaming free markets is as idiotic as blaming gravity, or the laws of physics. The marketplace doesn't care. The Industrial Age, and the Nation States it begat are done. What comes next ain't pretty, and is also way way off-topic. :-)

I have to correct you Agent Smith, the MSM suffering the death of a paper thousand cuts. Heh

I wonder if it will EVER occur to them that the businesses that liberal taxation will kill off will no longer need to supply that ad revenue stream. Perhaps they can ponder that while standing in the unemployment line with the chattering class.

The next great act would be to fill the unemployment lines with liberal politicians, standing next to ex-editors.

It looks good on them.

The media does not report the news anymore, but simply fabricates their own version of events.
Example"Obama says hes pulling out of Iraq in 2011" Yet he still plans on having half a million troops on the ground. Oh.. but they are in non combat roles says Obama. Really, so like if you get shot at, you cant shoot back?. Wait a second that sounds like a plan from the other guy.
None of the main stream media even would let you think the truth. They even go as far as interviewing everyone, and anyone, that supports their version of events. Unfortunately most people today are illiterate thanks to the education system, and would much rather not think for themselves.

drD....they ARE NOT to be pitied! Save that for the middle-class of this country who work and get ripped off constantly,or the poor bystanders family after s/he dies from a gangwar. Scorn is much to easy a term for what the MSM in this country deserves.Your sympathies are misplaced.

If the MSM is going to the mausoleum, its fitting epitath would be:

"Punditry, politicking and pontificating were always easier than real reporting."

The print media was doomed in the 60-70's when most only looked at the classifieds and obituaries. Small demographics and the compulsive sports types even less.
I have watched the small town daily newspapers morph into weekly "shopping news"...mostly classifieds and real estate ads.
They were not missed and the MSM won't either.
The decline in ad revenue is killing the TV networks but then boob tubes are now connected to cable, DVD players and dishes.
Internets has exposed the MSM "news" as partisan propaganda....
Most of my existance I have watched the evening and late news now if distracted and missing it, I don't rush to turn it on. I have largely become indifferent to MSM news.
Then the apathy shown by low voter turnout is an indication of an even larger public appathy.
911 was perhaps the last time TV or MSM had an audience.
Perhaps the AGW/KYOTO agenda has contributed to the apathy/distrust.

[ Perhaps the AGW/KYOTO agenda has contributed to the apathy/distrust.]

Absolutely !!

For the Media, Kyoto was a 'pull out the stops' kinda thing. Last stand. Prefer down in flames. Nothing to loose. Best chance for a first step to One World Governance/world socialism.(Chirac) Maintain the 'power of the pen' through fear mongering. End of the world through climate frying being the ultimate tool.

A well packaged snow job. Better than Madoff's hedge fund.

I do believe that you have isolated 'the moment the red rags imploded', ron in kelowna. Even the Keyootee cultists (or hillbillies of the present, as some call them), do not want to pay for the hoax - the promoters of the Enron environmental scam could not figure out a way to isolate and insulate the greenies with big bucks. The Internet and SDA were way too fast for their stone age thought process and technology. Heh.

Same goes for their antiquated braahdcatting (h/t to Special K) on the TV. The sporadic and short information clips tend to be easily forgotten and discarded by those who know the price of fuel. Most taxpaying people know that if it is promoted in a big way by the propaganda arm it will, for sure, invade our pocketbooks. Given the choice, most of us prefer to spend our money on a concrete thing rather than an abstract (Carbon credit) esp if the 'credit' is for nothing and good for nothing.

MSM lie about Keyohteee, they lied about the 'new Ice Age in the 1970s, they will lie about anything...the msm are rated as very poor comedy by most people.

Nice payback for the Obamessiah cheerleading section!

This is more than just a coincidence, that several arms of the MSM have lost signicificant revenues, and going under, after their shameful rah-rah biased 'reporting' of the US election campaign. Those that pay the bills (advertising) have had it and are speaking with their chequebooks.

payback is a beatch!
