More Hope and Change

Something that's really not news - Guantánamo Meets Geneva Rules, Study Finds. Well of course it does. Sir Hopenchange has sprinkled it with his magic pixie dust, so everything's kosher now.

This isn't really news either: Bagram Detainees have no habeas rights. Of course not. Terrorists fighting out of uniform and violating all rules of war can be summarily executed and this would be perfectly within the rules of the Geneva conventions. Geneva conventions protect legitimate soldiers who follow the rules of war, not terrorists. And terrorists detained overseas certainly aren't entitled to the rights of U.S. citizens.

And now that Bush isn't president anymore maybe all can agree on that.

But the evil bushchimphitler did not possess the messiah's magic pixie dust, so Guantanamo was an aberation of humanity and the work of that satan's porn, Bush.

Now, all is set to rights and peace and love and free money rain from heaven. Oh, glory the messiah!!

After talking to a few of my military friends this may only confirm what they already knew. Not taking prisoners has been standard practice for the past couple of years, for the most part only the Afghans take prisoners. One thing the dopes on the left don’t understand is NATO forces love combined exercises with the Afghans, no prisoners no hassles.

much wiser to extract whatever intelligence one can before disposing of the perps.....as our allies the U.S.A. understand....the disposal is somewhat problematic given the U.S.A.'s predilection for following(for the very most part)international law.

Hey, where was the NYT's with a story like this during the Bush years? Amusing isn't it, the attitudinal reversal on many of Bush's policies that has swept across the media now that their little Messiah will probably need to continue the same policies.

the things he can't possibly change instanter he won't even try...the things he CAN change by guile and subterfuge he will attempt incrementally...

bottom line ?...someone ideologically driven who isn't playing on the level with the mass of Americans whose inspiration is self reliance and a general contempt for those who rely on others...

i see looming 'un catastrophe Malthusien' NOT tied up with a Gordian knot as some wag described it recently...

Gitmo was an American mistake similar to the Nuremberg trials. Churchill didn't want trials, he wanted summary executions. At least with Nuremberg the public ultimately had an overwhelming appetite for executions. Americans are far too attached to lawyers and in the case of Gitmo, the public appetite had turned to PC mush.

As far as the potential loss of intelligence benefits without Gitmo, my Vietnam vet buddy described how they got the VC to talk by taking two of them for a flight in a chopper and when the first one was sent skydiving without a chute after no answers, the remaining combatant spilled his guts. This is just one of many techniques that exist (literally) under the MSM radar in the theater of war.

"Bill Clinton tells President Obama to give America hope on economy"

"Mr Obama’s sombre message was surpassed this month by Joe Biden, the Vice-President, in unscripted comments that dismayed the White House when he said of the Administration’s economic prescriptions: “If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there’s still a 30 per cent chance we’re going to get it wrong.”

Despite Mr Clinton’s call for more hope and optimism from the new President, Mr Obama does frequently end his speeches with an upbeat message."

Obama's pixie dust is indeed a wond'rous thing. A mere sprinkling yesterday had Iggy pontificating on Pravda that we should seriously consider extending the Afghan mission beyond 2011 "if Mr. Obama asks". Wasn't it the Liberals who couldn't wait for us to pull out a few months back?

"felis says... A mere sprinkling yesterday had Iggy pontificating..."

it's way past pontificating... iggy's starting to hallucinate.

naw....it's FAR more insidious and invidious .....Count Igula is hoping a crowd of Acorns will come up to Canada from the USA and 'get out the vote' for the lllieberals....

Surely a 'study session' for all Gitmo staff can be set up for tuesday afternoon. Then, horror of horrors! a terrorist bomb attack annihilates the compound.
(Where is the CIA when you need them?)
ps, maybe don't tell all the lawyers of the scheduled study sessions.

So now that we can do this to terrorist scum and be accepted.....

Can we do it to MSM scum too?

Just wondering how this is going to square with the "O"s race mongering ACLU lawyerin' AG ... ?

Obama isn't going to change a thing of consequence. His only aim is self aggrandizement and that precludes making any decision, especially a decision that may take away from his 'glory'. So far he has been relatively harmless but that may well change when events overtake him and he is forced to act. His decision will be to preserve his halo and if that happens to coincide with the national interest things will be fine but if his interests do not coincide with national interests.....

Of course it meets the standards. Now that the American public will finally grasp that,Obama can delay his promise to close it. I think they should close it and transfer the prisoners to a suitable prison in Alaska.

This just in ......a new study has shown that the more you attend the mosque the more likely you will support suicide bombers. This seems to be unrelated to how devout you are. People who pray once, five or even ten times a day but rarely go to Mosques are much less likely to support these explosive urges.
The Scientists posit that the social/collective experience may be the problem. The Imam's message to the congregation was not mentioned as part of the study.

Highwayman,
Don't you at least want to have a show trial? Where is your sense of theater? There is a protocol to be followed. They might even let you be Rumsfeld's lawyer so you can pretend to defend him.

the 'highwayman' indeed...prolly the Hershey highway if'n i knows my llliberals.

"Sir Hopenchange has sprinkled it with his magic pixie dust, so everything's kosher now."

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Love it.

Penny: "where was the NYT's with a story like this during the Bush years?"

Filing bankruptcy.

"the 'highwayman' indeed...prolly the Hershey highway if'n i knows my llliberals."
