A pretty good interview with the PM on CNBC.

The more I see PMSH doing interviews the better I like him!!!!!!!
This must really pee off the MSM and Liebrals in general!! LOL

Listen to PM Harper then try to imagine those clowns, Chretien and Dion, answering the same questions...... in either language.

Harper Rocks when he is doing these kinds of interviews!!!

If our newspaper editors had any sense at all, they would have had some type of feature that juxtaposed Iggy's purchased picture of himself in Times Square slobbering all over Barry Dunham with Harper's confident stride through the same locale - en route to explain the obvious and inevitable consequences of protectionism.

Perhaps SDA can feature this, perhaps with a further juxtapostion of the cost of Iggy's ad vs. Harper's trip.

Very impressive. This gets noticed in the power corridors in Washington.

I just can't imagine Iggy having any gravitas on these topics.

PMSH is great...what else can one say about his public performances of late.Smokes the opposition all to heck...relaxed...thoughtful...knows his material...fast on his feet...a real professional job.He does us proud.
This should wash back into the Cdn MSM and if not...their loss. Mr Harper is in demand right now by our southern neighbours who are looking for something solid to believe in.
As for Iggy...well his LPC by their own volition have to pay for their disingenuous exposure.
Ha! what a lark.

Gl1800,
My sentiments exactly.
Throw in Jack and Iggy and that mix too.

Harper hit it out of the park, and then circled the bases twice to wave and sign autographs.

Cripes. The guy rocked.

Me tinks the Canadian MSM is a tad bit jealous because the American MSM likes Harper.

Ooops. I meant BCer

And another one from Fox News

"Take a look. Prime Minister Harper is very impressive." Alexis Glick

If Harper keeps doing interviews as good as this one, and Obama keeps making foolish announcements like giving $900 million to rebuild the Gaza Strip, while the Defense Department budget for the tribal areas of Pakistan has a shortfall, the Americans may try to draft Harper.

I just finished watching both the CNBC & Fox interviews and Harper was very impressive. It's too bad our Canadian media won't give him the same opportunities to put forth his government's positions without throwing their leftist crap back at him while he is doing so.

imagine that , an economist not a community organizer.

and not a long winded um and ah fest as Obama is without the prepared speech.

Yesterday on ctv.ca they reported on the PM in NY & on Fox, In the comments at the bottom of the article Most in fact allmost All were very favourable, a couple even elated to the msnbc interview Because the usual Harper Haters would come back with "Its fox what do you expect" BS.
However if you went to Almost the same article at the Good Ol CBC.ca you would find the same old, Bush/Harper BS, Harper Scary crap in the comments.

The PM is selling(promoting) our country he is trying to drum up business while at the same time trying to stop the Protectism Movement, The PM is doing his job. He is proving that he is the right man for the job, While the Opposition sits back & complains not enough money for the Unions Pensions & Plots how to overthrow the Gov't without an Election.

Thanks Kate for posting that, You can Bet your Bippy that would never be shown even in clip form on any Major Media TV outlet in Canada.

It puts a smile on my face to hear him start off the interview by blaiming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and then government micromanagement of the financial sector, for the problems in the US economy.

Very impressive. Few economists can speak in common language that well. Previous Prime Ministers neither knew much about the subject or could speak that well about any subject.

What I have noticed is when the US media interview PMSH they give him a chance to answer relevant questions. They are good questions instead of the 'when did you know' attacks on gotcha stuff along with snide sneers.
A previous poster asked if anyone had a vid of the PM telling us things were going to get rough and the response was he was fear-mongering. I remember that but have no link. I listened at the time.

CBCpravda out of date by 3 days. they have there nose pushed up against the outside of the window looking in and casting about surly glances to find his Ignifacence.

"Don't have Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac equivalent mucking around in the system"

Perfect

Canada, listen, and please, appreciate

The Prime Minister did a wonderful in this these interviews to explain about and allieviate fear of oil from the oil sands. Now having said that, let' be perfectly clear, that the socialist-seperatist-opportunistic seditionists, bent on the destruction of the western canadian economy (especially Alberta's), will be doing their damdest to undermine these advances with the help of the eco-fascists and the Vichy-MSM.

Canadians have to resort to American TV get the Harper message out, Canada, by virtue of the Harper conservative administration, is the best fiscally managed country in the world.

Leftist Canadian MSM are corrupt and absolutely anti Harper administration, why else would they keep blowing smoke up Iggy and Taliban Jack Layton's collective asses?

Thank God for FOX cable and Larry Kudlow.

I agree with all the comments here especially with the points that netsurfer and Speedy made. When is the last time the Canadian MSM has shown this much professionalism and respect for PMSH? Comparing their conduct to the American MSM in these interviews portrays our MSM like a bunch of children.

He is my Prime Minister.

If Iggy has seen this interview I wonder how much of what PMSH said did he understand.

Obamara reads a great speech but in a Q & A situation Harper eats his lunch. I watched the session with the media following their meeting last week. Why many in the MSM keep referring to Obama as "eloquent" is beyond me. He is not quick on his feet. Lots of "ummms and ahhhh's"

There can be no doubt that we have the right man as PM. I only hope Canadians see this and give him a majority next time.

Another thing about Iggy -they call him the "intellectual". Horse cookie! A true intellectual would have recognized what the attempted coup by the Lib/NDP/BQ would have meant to the West and would have refused to have any part of it. No - this "intellectual" stepped right up and put his name on the list.

Last week his attempt at damage control out West fooled no one.

a different bob - well, I'm not an Ignatieff hater; I don't know much about the guy but I would view him as likely quite intelligent. That being said, you can be very smart and not translate that into political success. The jury is still out on where Ignatieff will take the Liberal Party, and how successful he will be as a leader.

The sad thing is, no matter how brilliantly Harper performs, many in Canada, and the media in particular, could care less, and that is the sad thing to consider.

I can breathe again; I've just gotten a blast of economic fresh air. That was such a refreshing interview to watch vs the leftist pap gumming up my TV from the likes of CBC/CTV.

Canadians are smart to have voted this man Prime Minister. MSM dumb to be all Liberal all the time.

The only comment I remember made on Canadian media was CTV's snide remark (several times) that our PM was "running around in NY trying to get himself interviewed anywhere he could."

I never watch CBC but imagine that the same opinion exists there as well.

Seems that liberal senators-in-waiting Craig Oliver, Jane Tabor, Bobby Fife & their ilk all have the fear of god that our PM is likely to receive a positive rating south of the border, and their continual sniping & bitchin' will be revealed as the petulant, puerile griping of mental midgets.

He's got the style, now if he only had the substance to back it up.

Pretty words are nice, shrinking the size and cost of government(which he's actually doing the opposite of) would be better.

Ive surprised that CTV(tass) didnt put up the story of the billboard with Obammessiah and IgMcMuffin (the egghead)up in times square. there was a time during the the Big Owe visit that 2 out of three headlines were Iggy and the other was the GG.

and they wonder why they dont get an interview

where is BoratDion , self imposed exile ? visiting Fwance? writing an autobiography with Cretian as translator? where?

You know they'll say it is only Kudlow and Fox.

He had a good interview on CNN leading up to the Obama visit.

He has to be careful he doesnt look like he is pandering. But being PM is a way to differentiate himself from Iggy, who isnt PM.

Obama did the proper thing with Iggy when he visited. Most foreign media couldnt give a rats ass about an opposition leader when they are outside the country...a PM makes a difference and gets interviews

Farmer Joe - it would be better, but maybe not now. Sometimes it's good to go in the same direction of the herd, because otherwise you get left behind/exposed.

If you could convince all Canadians to give Harper a majority government, I'm sure they would be pleasantly surprised with the outcome - easier said than done though.

cal2 - IgMcMuffin (cf egghead) is actually pretty funny. And, I'm still laughing about the "video professor". Cheers.

I would say the Mighty "O" is lucky to have a mentor such as PMSH. What I would have given to be the proverbial fly on the wall. I imagine it went something like, "Oil sands, right, OK we'll just contrast it with coal-fired generating stations. There is your 'out'. You tell 'em US will work on them & we'll work on 'dirty oil'.
Protectionism? Senate made changes. Have to follow GATT etc." Don't worry Mr President, together we can get you out of this mess. Just take that one foot out of your mouth and follow Uncle Stephen's lead.

Very impressive as usual.
Makes one proud of our PMSH.

I've been impressed by PMSH for some time now. It's the backbenchers that I worry about. The conservative candidate in my riding has shown her irrational side several times in the past.

I'll be voting Liberal next time around to ensure Harper remains where he belongs...in a minority position.

cal2...CTV did cover the 'Iggy makes Times Square' story on QP (Sunday).
Giggles Taber loooved it! She was slurping and drooling.
Iggy had no idea...apparently.

Well said and absolutely correct summation !!

Tom Clark and Giffen might well be added to the CTV list.

Great job by PMSH, as usual.

As he pointed out, Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac are political institutions which have no parallel in Canada.

They are a hangover of the ‘chicken in every pot' era of FDR, when the American Dream started being redefined from an equality of opportunity to an equality of outcome.

Now the chickens are coming home to roost on what had obviously been a political solution as both the Democrats and Republicans have spouted the nonsense that home ownership is right.

You can see the absurdity of the argumentin one ACORN activist I saw, who said that they would advise physical resistance to attempts to repossess houses they had no business owning in the first place.

It's economics, not politics that build a nation.

Canada has built a solid banking system based of solid fundamental economics, not some pie in the sky idea.

Harper does point out that Canada has neither the bank bailout, nor the subprime problem Obama has inherited.

In a way, it's a good think Obama is now the president, since he's a natural product of the entitlement mentality foisted upon the US by FDR so many decades ago.

The US will continue to flounder until the mid-term elections next year and who knows what kind of a mess the country will be in by then.

Harper gives it four years ... he said Canada would be back into a balanced budget situation in four years.

It's the economy, stupid. And Harper's backgound as not only an economist, but an articulate economist, makes him the right man for the times.

Let the political wankers in Canada's MSM spout all they like. They continue to demonstrate their total ignorance of the fact that political systems which reflect economic realities are the ones that succeed in the long run.

sorry I missed it.

CTV(tass) All Liberal, All the Time.

Grown-ups, like Mr.Harper, should run governments, not affirmative action amateurs.

Count your blessings, my dear frozen neighbors.

And, my fellow Canadians, given the measured tone, and thoughtful content from Harper, why would you want to take a flyer on another national leader during these uncertain times?

Has this interview been widely posted elsewhere in Canada or the US?

I think the light's dimmer on MSM is being turned up a bit. They were all pro-Obama and the US was great and now they have to spin PMSH does quite well there thank-you. Iggy paid to get his picture in the US and the PM smokes the US media for free. Before he was too close to the US in support of good ideas, now he is too close to the US because Iggy is basically an American. Oh the wondrous web we weave.

Erik Post it at the G&M but you have to be sneaky and say something like Harpo screws up. They have a habit of taking down links that don't agree with their POV.
