While all those people are buying "bullets" I'm out buying "cartridges". Since I'm not a reloader I like mine 'ready rolled'. Dolts!
I guess I'm lucky I picked my Kimber in .40 S&W. Plenty of that at Walmart last week, and at my local Co-op. In fact I will be picking up another brick in about two hours, with some 12 gauge and 30-30.
Looks like Obamassiah and his band of ivory tower lefty idiots are going to roll the clock back the 1800's. No electricity or cars (Kyoto and AGW) Dirt poor (Banks and Geitner) Survival of the best armed (linked story).
Somebody ought to tell that out of his depth imbecile that the right are better armed. Might give him pause.
I just had a shipment of goods arrive from Tennessee yesterday. I was talking to the truckers who delivered it about the US political situation. They said all the gun shops have been cleaned out of inventory (guns and ammo)where they live.
If there is a complete breakdown in the USA, where do you think all of those heavily armed, unemployed rednecks from Michigan, NY and Illinois are going to look for their next meal???
Geez, some of these guys are in private militias that are armed to the teeth.
We better hope PMSH arms those border guards up real good, ya all hear?
Cuz there is no way your average urban Canuck could defend his family from any of that s@#$!
a storm is coming.....imagine situation when you are driving to a store or work and someone shoots at you. Unless you have high capacity pistol, then you are unarmed.
I buy ammo every time I'm inside a sporting goods store. I have it cached all over the place. It's not so much that I'm paranoid, more like I'm forgetful.
I priced out hand loading, and found it probably doesn't pay for itself very quickly. I might reconsider, to shield myself from possible shortages.
As far as owning a gun in Canada, it isn't that difficult. I'm one of the few who can legally own a short barreled pistol, because I've been "grandfathered". The section of the code that banned barrels shorter than 105mm was supposed to get rid of "Saturday night specials". What it actually did was stop the importation of perfectly safe, 4" barreled revolvers. People like I have been "collecting" as many of the remaining snubnosed pistols as we can get our hands on. They can never be passed on to our kids, so they'll all come up missing when I exit this dimension.

xiat, do you know what you're talking about or not? Handguns are merely restricted, not prohibited. Anyone with a valid PAL can buy .38 Spcl ammo, no problem.
I mainly concentrated on 12 and 20 gauge with plenty of pistol rounds, down heya in my Lil spot in N. Louisi-Yana you ain't gona be shooting to many times at 400 yards, it's just way to thick and you would have to elevate yourself just right below the tree-line which means maximum exposure, best just to let em walk on up to the front door and then lower the boom, with everything.

"Somebody ought to tell that out of his depth imbecile that the right are better armed. Might give him pause."
The fact that the right is better armed is not their biggest problem. Those on the right who are armed are most likely to be competent with those arms; that is the bigger problem. This group is more likely to be made up of hunters, sports shooters, active and retired military and competitive shooters. (All of your typical rednecks ;-) )
The left also realizes that those on the right would more likely make the decision to defend their freedom.
The old saying kicks in also: Beware of the man who owns but one gun..."
You are sadly mistaken. Any handgun with a "short" barrel (less than about 4.25 inches) is deemed a prohibited weapon under the Firearms Act s. 12.4. If you owned the registered weapon prior to the Act your ownership is grandfathered and you may acquire other registered s12.4 prohibited handguns.
It is sad because we are not talking snub-nose revolvers. The S&W M&P Model 10 with a 4 inch barrel, the standard Canadian Police sidearm in Canada for decades is now classed as a prohibited weapon whereas the Glock with the composite frame, referred to a a "terrorist weapon" by Alan Rock, Ted Kennedy and other liberals, is now the standard police sidearm. Go figure.
I'm glad I stocked up on ammo years ago when it was cheap. Like dp I'd buy a case every time I was in a gun store and it does add up over the years, even with shooting regularly. I think I've got a nice balance of 9 mm, 7.62x39, 7.62x51 and 30.06 just being a bit short on .223.
If we get into a TSHTF situation I feel I'm ready and have the security of knowing all my neighbors are also armed.
I wouldn't worry about it, bullets are easy to make. You can do it with a mold and a propane torch.
If the Obama regime does something irretrievably stupid with the ammunition supply, the "private sector" (black market) will quietly take care of the situation. Same as the dope trade, same as Prohibition, same as guns in Canada.
I might be able to make Minie balls for my Springfield that way, but I can't make Nosler Partitions or Sierra Boattails. We might be forced back into using saltpetre based gunpowder
Grant, making bullets is a little harder and more complicated but if you have the casings, powder, and primers, and you buy the bullets separate you can make your own rounds a lot cheaper.
Minuteman, Lee sells all manner of bullet molds for all manner of calibers, and that was just the first one on the google results. You want to be off the grid, try Craig's List. Want to be super duper secret agent off the grid, cut your own stuff with a milling machine or a lathe.
A few molds, a swaging press and you can make any bullet shape in any caliber with any jacket style you want. Steel, aluminum, copper, cadmium, whatever. Legally! No law against it.
If you want super duper duper accuracy, you can turn them one at a time out of solid copper on a metal lathe.
If you're lazy or otherwise can't do any of the above, have a geeky friend do it for you.
This is why the entire idea of gun control is so pointless, they CAN'T CONTROL IT. Its impossible. Can't be done, no matter how much money they throw at it or how many people they jail.
It's not only insane to object to a human being armed to defend themselves, it's frigging hostile!!
It's like the government attempt at closing shooting ranges in BC. It caved when the boys in the interior told the range inspectors that they were going to continue to use their ranges and if the inspectors didn't like it they could come out to they range. That they'd be there shooting.
Scared the what ever out of them because they knew that not only these men armed, the knew how to hiw what they aimed at.
The disarming of the people by a government that does not trust law abiding citizens with a weapon, is a government to be distrusted.
Bernie; yeh, and now the Powers That Be are trying to make it illegal to have your vehicle all armoured up, cause hey, that's waaay easier to control than automatic weapons...
phanatom came close to the reason ammo is being bought up. there is a real concern that the libs under o's control will use the controlled sale of ammom to both reduce the use of guns and to record who has a specific type of weapon based on the ammo they buy. the long gun registery in canada was unnecessary because everyone who has a hunting licence has informed the province they have a gun or a bow.
I suspect the run on ammunition is a delayed effect of the run on firearms. Guns have been selling like hotcakes. It's taken a few months for the new owners to get around to trying them out. Ammo is expensive, and added to the price of a new gun, it causes people to buy a minimum supply.

....meanwhile up to the north and over the unprotected border there is large unarmed population of lame ducks where you can not even own .38 Special.

They're rationing bullets in Orlando?

Why do you believe we are unarmed? I certainly am not. None of my neighbors are. Maybe the libs in toronto are, that's their problem.

Well since two thirds of my country calls me a redneck I guess I would just feed my redneck breathren from the south.
.38 Special? Nothing prohibited about it.
You can buy a gun, you just have to register it. In fact, my girlfriend and I are going to purchase one and take shooting lessons.
The out of control gang activity should be a clue to anyone that the cops are outnumbered and cannot protect you.
Don't be foolish enough to think any gov't dept or official has what it takes to protect you, your family, or your money.

There's still hope for America.
Gee, Europe may be the first to ignite.
Turns out that European banks have toxic assets of about $24 Trillion US$ on their books.
Total USA economy is(was) about $15 trillion and the Europe economy is less.
To hell with national bankruptcies - try world bankruptcy.
Whole nations could sublimate from first world status to third world status overnite.
Hey Jupiter, have you got a couple of, ok many, trillion greenbucks you could lend the 3rd Rock?
Just till we get back on our feet, eh.
No shortage of bullets in Vancouver;
luckily machine pistols are banned otherwise someone could get hurt.
