Then she can get all those Chiefs who pay themselves huge salaries while denying housing to women & children in their bands.
We are waiting Jane . . . go get 'em you professional journalist.
A conservative "member of a protected/special/minority group" is fair game. Political affiliation trumps any other special status with leftists. They demonstrated that with Palin.
The ersatz outrage over Mr. Brazeau's antics are largely, if not entirely, due to the fact that he was appointed by Stephen Harper.
Who cares what he drives? I'm quite certain that Lawrence Joseph doesn't tool around in a used Honda Civic. Put him on the hot seat with some questions about SIGA's huge revenues obviously not being used to improve living conditions for his people.
Did watch "Giggles" Tabor's attempted savaging of the new senator. He answered all her accusations in a reasonable and intelligent manner, which one assumes would have pissed her off. She was interested in his Porsch because she still has to ride around Ottawa on an out-dated Craig Oliver.
Duffy was hounded by reporters over his use of a trivially blue metaphor. It was a big story on CBC -- they aired specious critics who questioned Duffy's integrity as a journalist. Now it's Brazeau's turn.
Prediction: Nancy Greene Raine will be in the prog spotlight within a month or two. Something about ski resorts and the effects on the environment -- something like that.
This is such a non news story. They are both still living off the taxpayer tit,he as a senator, her with her gubbermint job in the "only" province of Queerbec.Until we get rid of the Indian Act and reserves, nothing will change.

What the hell is wrong with our politicians that they can sit there quietly and take all the crap that the MSM throws at them?
I watched the Taber interview and if I were the Senator I would have asked why she was asking the sleazier questions and nothing about aboriginal issues.
Drinking in the office? Horrors! Every time I see a picture of a large CEO office there always seems to be a liquor cabinet in there somewhere.
Driving a Porsche SUV? I would have laughed at the photo of the very dirty SUV and offered a better photo of a sparkling clean vehicle with me hanging out the window waving.
Behind in child support payments? What friggin' business is it of anyone that I might have been a little late on a few occasions!
Jane says, "What do you say to people who are asking about your failure to pay support for your son?" I say, "Until you just mentioned it on national television I'm willing to bet that very few people even knew I had a son."
It's a little frustrating to watch these guys sit there and take all this shit.
I watched Graham Richardson ask everybody and their grandparents if they believed that the Conservatives would favour their own riding's with the stimulus package and not one of them slapped him upside the head.
We need more of these politicians to stand up and walk out when the questioning becomes overbearingly partisan.
Jane Tabor didn't have Senator Brazeau on Question Period to ask him what he could do for the native community. She had him on the program to embarrass him and to build up an eventual argument to prove that Harper is irresponsible in his appointments to various posts and can't be trusted to run the country.
If you chip away at something long enough you'll eventually bring it down.

I just found an interesting statistic... "According to the 1996 Census, approximately 225,000 Indians live on reserves and other Indian settlements, while 60% of Indians live elsewhere."
So lets say for the sake of argument that another 100,000 natives have been born or moved onto reserves in the last 12 years, (that is a gross overestimation and we both know it) that gives us a total of 325,000 natives living on reserves. Now, lets take that 10 billion dollars and see what we get.
Are you ready for this?
And the grand total of government spending on each and every aboriginal man woman and child is...
Thirty thousand, seven hundred and sixty nine dollars and twenty three cents.
Hold on, I'm going to break this down a little further. 365 Days in a year... minus 104 weekend days = 261
Minus two weeks holidays = 251
Minus stat holidays (call it another 10 days per year) = 241 days.
$30,769.23 divided by 241 = $127.67 a day or for an 8 hour work day = $15.95 an hour.
We are paying every native man woman and child living on a reserve $15.95 an hour just for being aboriginal. That looters, moochers, wastrels wage is $6.45 OVER Ontario's minimum wage.
Forget pointing fingers at other native leaders foibles, how about other senators and MPs? How many of them have porsches or were late on support payments? Let's start looking into some of the NDs BQ and L members history.
I've noticed, too, and posted about, the sudden, surprising interest of the Big Media in alleged corruption on the part of an Aboriginal politician. I'm astonished with the fervor with which those Leftist journalists are digging around for dirt on the new Senator and reporting on it even if there's nothing to it but accusations.
There can be only one reason for their doing this and getting away with it without the Aboriginal propagandists calling them "racists" for doing so. That reason is that the Aboriginal in question is a Conservative!
I spoke with a native/aboriginal/First Nations woman the other day. "That's what 'you' call us." she said. "I call myself Indian because that's what we were called in the Treaties we signed." She was clearly proud of her heritage and had no pretentions about her.
If he was Liberal--would the story have made headlines?? I don't think so! My friend was forced to pay child support to a woman who was using the cash to make payments on her boyfriend's Harley-Davidson! Sorry--no sympathy from this cowboy!

I must be a bit dense, but can somebody please 'splain something to me?
Apparently the Canadian government is engaged in treaty negotiations with Indian "nations." So how come members of those Indian nations get to sit on Canada's government and vote on the results of those negotiations?
They get to sit on both sides of the negotiating table.
OK, so this Tabler, Tattler Tatter, or what ever her name asked personal questions that were out of order, but less than $100/mon child payments for a 14 yr old????, Hey, I paid one h!ll of a lot more to support my non-biological granddaughter on my own accord, because of circumstances at the time, cripes!!
Got to skip past my opening groaning over MSNBC's making a big deal out of Obama bumping his head. The post is about the Big Media using irrelevant nonsense as if it's newsworthy. Somehow it flows naturally from the Obama booboo story into the Red Star's throwing dirt at Brazeau, something they wouldn't do if he was, say, a Liberal or an NDP. Certainly not so long as it was an Aboriginal Libby or Nudie.
Fred, Phil Fontaine immediately comes to my mind too. The guy's been living high off the hog -- the GOVERNMENT hog -- for years.
If you're c/Conservative, you'll always get the first degree. If you're l/Liberal, you're given a pass every time.
What floors me is the gall of the media whores like Janey "Giggles" Taber. Presuming they're not totally stupid, how can they not recognize their double standard which is the size of an alien spaceship?
The hypocrite award of the century goes to the Liberals on so many fronts.
The fact the Conservative PM appointed an Aboriginal to the Senate is burning their butts big time. They have been the big saviours of the Aboriginals BETWEEN ELECTIONS for decades. Harper stole their thunder and they're as mad hell.
There's no place for them to go on this but attack the man and they've gone to a very low level to do it. To strike out at a person's personal life which has no bearing on he job at hand is as low as it gets.
That's the depth the desperate Liberal slaggers and their fellow slugs in the MSM have stooped to.
According to Liberal doctrine and their love and concern for Aboriginals they should be ecstatic with this appointment. This is proof they're nothing but a pack of phonies.
Oh my god, he missed payments of $200 (and paid back). Lets call a parlimentary enquirey folks. Seriosly though, as someone thats been through a divorce and having dealt with child and spousal maintenance, there are lots of mitigating circumstances that may surround the reasons why these payments were missed. Ask any lawyer that works in family law. The news is trivial to say the least.
Some folks might've missed the fact that Mr. Brazeau actually sent the support payment checks to Revenue Quebec, who's responsible for bureaucratizing 'em and sending 'em on to the ex. Why don't the Red Star folks go poke their noses up Revenue Quebec's hiney, then, to demand answers from them? Nah... not sexy enough. Not as sexy as bashing a Conservative Aboriginal to try to falsely discredit conservatism as a whole... again.
Leftists, especially the journalist ones... they lie and cheat, sure as fish swim and eat...
We Conservatives must remember, through all the visisitudes of Harper's government, that the enemy is the establishment itself; that which must be overthrown. And can be. A majority is required.
The Family Compact must end. Finally. After 200 years.
I've never understood the objection to "Indian". It's not a pejorative. This constant re-designating of ethnic groups (and re-naming of cities and countries) is neurotic and power-obsessive; like slang, it's purpose is to catch you out if you're an inch behind the curve.

The news is small spuds, but it will raise public skepticism about Senator Patrick Brazeau, as the media intended.
Over five years ago I read an article in a magazine focused on native issues about the division between issues considered important by many young native leaders as opposed to those significant to the older native establishment. The younger native leaders wanted less dependence on government and more emphasis on education, innovation and leading *themselves.*
we dont usually see parts of mssr. Jean Chretiens native son life openly questioned.
Michel, Chrétien's youngest child, was adopted as a Gwichʼin child from an Inuvik orphanage by Jean and Aline in 1970. At the time Jean Chrétien was the Minister of Indian Affairs. He was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. He was arrested for drunk-driving in 1988. In addition to past heroin and cocaine addictions, Michel is an admitted alcoholic, and was convicted for drinking and driving in 1998. He later received a nine-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault after throwing an object at a former girlfriend's six-year-old son the same year. The child incurred Chrétien's wrath by taking down a Christmas tree early. Chrétien threw a tobacco-rolling tray at the boy, injuring him slightly. In the 1990s, he was sentenced to three years in prison for sexually assaulting a 27-year old Montreal woman, allegedly taking her home from a bar, then tying her up and forcing sex on her. Michel Chrétien spent the three years between trial and incarceration with his birth mother, Anne Kendi, a counsellor at Northern Addictions, a Yellowknife detox centre. She had recognised her son, then 23, from pictures in a newspaper during his trial. In 2003, Michel was charged with 3 counts of sexual assault, when an 18-year old woman accused him of having non-consensual sex with her after she passed out from heavy drinking at his apartment in Yellowknife. His trial lasted four days before he was acquitted by a 6-male, 6-female member jury. He worked at Pluridesign's Canadian office for a time, having been hired by Jacques Corriveau. Michel is a talented graphic artist and has worked as a
furniture designer
Preston Manning also has a native son who remains entirely out of the media and does not design furniture.

There are times, watching the news, when I'd love to add to a continuing file entitled "This is just bullshit!"
So little time doing the job and so much time spent on stuff that doesn't matter.
Brazeau said he does not want to discuss the issue of his relationship with his son.
We call them "dead beat dads" here in the USA.
