Did watch "Giggles" Tabor's attempted savaging of the new senator. He answered all her accusations in a reasonable and intelligent manner, which one assumes would have pissed her off. She was interested in his Porsch because she still has to ride around Ottawa on an out-dated Craig Oliver.

Duffy was hounded by reporters over his use of a trivially blue metaphor. It was a big story on CBC -- they aired specious critics who questioned Duffy's integrity as a journalist. Now it's Brazeau's turn.

Prediction: Nancy Greene Raine will be in the prog spotlight within a month or two. Something about ski resorts and the effects on the environment -- something like that.

I watched the Taber interview and if I were the Senator I would have asked why she was asking the sleazier questions and nothing about aboriginal issues.
Drinking in the office? Horrors! Every time I see a picture of a large CEO office there always seems to be a liquor cabinet in there somewhere.
Driving a Porsche SUV? I would have laughed at the photo of the very dirty SUV and offered a better photo of a sparkling clean vehicle with me hanging out the window waving.
Behind in child support payments? What friggin' business is it of anyone that I might have been a little late on a few occasions!

Jane Tabor didn't have Senator Brazeau on Question Period to ask him what he could do for the native community. She had him on the program to embarrass him and to build up an eventual argument to prove that Harper is irresponsible in his appointments to various posts and can't be trusted to run the country.
If you chip away at something long enough you'll eventually bring it down.

I just found an interesting statistic... "According to the 1996 Census, approximately 225,000 Indians live on reserves and other Indian settlements, while 60% of Indians live elsewhere."

So lets say for the sake of argument that another 100,000 natives have been born or moved onto reserves in the last 12 years, (that is a gross overestimation and we both know it) that gives us a total of 325,000 natives living on reserves. Now, lets take that 10 billion dollars and see what we get.

And the grand total of government spending on each and every aboriginal man woman and child is...

Thirty thousand, seven hundred and sixty nine dollars and twenty three cents.

Hold on, I'm going to break this down a little further. 365 Days in a year... minus 104 weekend days = 261

Minus two weeks holidays = 251

Minus stat holidays (call it another 10 days per year) = 241 days.

$30,769.23 divided by 241 = $127.67 a day or for an 8 hour work day = $15.95 an hour.

We are paying every native man woman and child living on a reserve $15.95 an hour just for being aboriginal. That looters, moochers, wastrels wage is $6.45 OVER Ontario's minimum wage.

Disgusting.

Forget pointing fingers at other native leaders foibles, how about other senators and MPs? How many of them have porsches or were late on support payments? Let's start looking into some of the NDs BQ and L members history.

I've noticed, too, and posted about, the sudden, surprising interest of the Big Media in alleged corruption on the part of an Aboriginal politician. I'm astonished with the fervor with which those Leftist journalists are digging around for dirt on the new Senator and reporting on it even if there's nothing to it but accusations.

There can be only one reason for their doing this and getting away with it without the Aboriginal propagandists calling them "racists" for doing so. That reason is that the Aboriginal in question is a Conservative!

i don't say this to defend the 10 billion dollars... but here in toronto they spend 220 million a year on the 3000 homeless people here. and i think we know how much of the money actually gets to them. not very much.

The news is small spuds, but it will raise public skepticism about Senator Patrick Brazeau, as the media intended.

Over five years ago I read an article in a magazine focused on native issues about the division between issues considered important by many young native leaders as opposed to those significant to the older native establishment. The younger native leaders wanted less dependence on government and more emphasis on education, innovation and leading *themselves.*

He later received a nine-month suspended sentence after pleading guilty to assault after throwing an object at a former girlfriend's six-year-old son the same year. The child incurred Chrétien's wrath by taking down a Christmas tree early. Chrétien threw a tobacco-rolling tray at the boy, injuring him slightly. In the 1990s, he was sentenced to three years in prison for sexually assaulting a 27-year old Montreal woman, allegedly taking her home from a bar, then tying her up and forcing sex on her. Michel Chrétien spent the three years between trial and incarceration with his birth mother, Anne Kendi, a counsellor at Northern Addictions, a Yellowknife detox centre. She had recognised her son, then 23, from pictures in a newspaper during his trial.
