I enjoyed his pieces very much, and I looked forward to hearing them. Always informative and full of humor. he was one of the Best. RIP. 2009, the day the story ended.
I loved listening to Mr. Harvey. I was lucky enough to catch him at noon hour on chqr.I don't know much about the man but I sure appreciated hearing "The rest of the story" R.I.P.
Thank you Kate, for this acknowledgement of a great orator.
Missing him? There are not enough of him. How do we replace genuine human beings, that had a civilized agenda?
We do it with educating our own young people, the ones that we give birth to and that we can teach the difference between right and wrong.
We do it by making sure they see clear options, discussing and respecting opinions.
The likes of Paul Harveys travel our way but seldomly. We who have listened, enjoyed and been influenced by his style and knowledge can be encouraged that his son is following in his footsteps. Paul Jr even sounds like him. In this case it is good that the apple has fallen not far from the giant tree that was Paul Harvey.
When an Icon is gone from us I like to reflect on that person's contribution to society and more specifically to my life and enjoyment. I am grateful for having been given the priviledge to listen to Mr. Paul Harvey. Mr. Harvey - I bid you "Good Day" forever.
I spent many of days in my youth bouncing around in a tractor tuning in his noon news broadcasts and then trying to guess who the "rest of the story" was about later on in the day. Legend does not do Paul Harvey justice. The man had no equals - and there will never be another like him. I'm so glad I am able to say I am what I am today because of Paul Harvey.
He always entertained, informed and surprised us with his elegant telling of America's tales. With his own clever twists, he told the stories that brought home the values that made his and our countries great.
My condolences to the Harvey family. Heard his show everyday it is something to look forward to. The stories related real America values all over the world. May he rest in peace.
Another Angel just joined his kin, our loss is Heaven's gain.
I hope broadcasters will replay Mr. Paul Harvey's marvelous stories to entertain and educate the next generation. There was always a commercial between the main story and 'the rest of the story'; I sometimes missed the 'rest of the story' and I had to phone my Dad to find out - he always knew, my Dad was a 'Dirty Thirties' kid and he appreciated all that Paul had to say.
RIP Mr. Harvey, you have earned your reward. You will always be missed by those of us who knew you.
I used to listen to him in Saskatoon while working on construction. We soon had a number of crews come around for coffee just to catch 'the rest of the story.'
R.I.P. funny man.
His genius was to take a simple concept and spin gold from it. Reportedly he was carried by about 1,200 radio stations in Canada and the US. He was an original cornball in his delivery but I always enjoyed listening on CFRA in Ottawa to try and guess who he was talking about before he delivered the punch line. I probably had about a 10 per cent success rate, such was his skill at dropping hints but never too many to give the game away.
What a wonderful person the world has lost. Indeed his family should be comforted by the response to his passing. Someone once said that we come into the world crying and everyone around us is laughing-- we should live in such a way that we go out laughing and leave the world behind crying!! I'm crying.
C.S.Lewis said " you do not have a soul-- you are a soul, you have a body." We will see Paul Harvey again in even better ways. I pray that God is sweeping him from Galaxy to Galaxy, saying " and now Paul you are going to see the rest of My story!"
One of the last nice conservatives. To the point, but never bombastic or histrionic. And of course, his "rest of the stories" and "for what it's worth" segments always brought a smile. RIP.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Rest in peace and thanks for the fond memories.
I am praying for the family and loved ones of Mr. Harvey. God Bless him for everything he has done for our country...
Hardly ever caught his show now for a long time.......
But I did for a time in my younger days, and he holds a place in my history.
I miss the show already
If I had a fraction the skill of Mr. Harvey, I'd still be in the business.
One of the best. Ever.
"Good day"
Someone who appreciated freedom and liberty because he knew what it was like not to have it.
RIP Mr. Harvey, listened to you often.
Condolences for your loved ones.

CFAM - the noon hour.
I heard him speak, when I was 16, at the national meeting of the Future Farmers of America. Jimmy Carter was speaking the same day.
Paul Harvey blew President Carter out of the building.
I had not heard another speaker who made so much sense until Sarah Palin at the convention.
Thank you Kate, for this acknowledgement of a great orator.

I'll miss him. Another set of large shoes are now empty.
I'm genuinely saddened by Harvey's passing. He was a fantastic broadcaster, and I enjoyed his reports very much. This is too bad.
Another light has gone out in Rome.
A sad day indeed.
May he rest in peace knowing that he touched untold multitudes of listeners with his much appreciated and enjoyed segments.
A very sad day.
There is no no to fill his shoes. No one. God bless him & his family.

Moved west from Ontario in 1980.
Caught his broadcasts from time to time."The Rest Of The Story.." Absolutely the next best thing to the TEN COMMANDMENTS... awesome stuff!
Just shows what one DOESN'T know!!
Thank you, Paul Harvey. You'll be remembered.
That is sad news. Good bye Paul Harvey, I'll miss you.
Good rest and God bless. Thanks for the learning and inspiration.

There is far more of a market for simple common sense expressed in booming classical language than Bill Mayer, et al, suppose.
WE WILL MISS YOU SO MUCH, IT JUST WON'T BE THE SAME. YOU AND ANGLE ARE NOW TOGETHER AGAIN. THANK FOR ALL THE STORYS
