“How fast is fast?”
The older kids are allowed to run them on alcohol with some expensive engine parts. They will hit well over 60 mph in 660 feet (1/8 mile). Fast enough to get a speeding ticket on many highways.
“And how old are the drivers in competition?”
From 9 to 17 yrs old I believe. The older they are, the faster they’re allowed to go. It’s governed by the sanctioning body of the track. NHRA or IHRA.
Looking at the logo the good nes is that you have a fourth, or is it fifth, career as a tagger.
Any discussion of speed should include speed and the relative proximity of one’s butt to the ground. 60mph in a Triumph feels a lot faster than 60 in yo mama’s Vista Cruiser, cooler too.

Texas Canuck- How dare you suggest a Triumph is cooler than a Vista Cruiser? That’s almost treasonous.
I wish I’d gotten my son into that when he was about 12.
Texas Canuck- 60 in a Triumph was a lot rarer as well. And usually allowed you to see the taillights of the 124 driving off and leaving you behind.
Granted, I’m biased, I had the second 124 sold in BC that I know of, a ’69 124-1348cc, (round markers, no hood bulge), British Racing Green, and ate up as many TR6’s as I came across.
Upon closer examination of the pictures, I see Kate shops at Princess Auto. I have those folding stands too. They rock for holding up truck doors and stuff.
