Related! New Study Shows Climate Change Largely Irreversible, Climate Modelers Given $140 Million Bonus

Question - if a climate modeller is bailed out by taxing oil profits, who's pocket does it put him into?

They have only a maximum of four years to wait for The Great Thaw, according the AGW guru at NASA.

And now, it's irreversible!

New Study Shows Climate Change Largely Irreversible
January 26, 2009

A new scientific study led by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reaches a powerful conclusion about the climate change caused by future increases of carbon dioxide: to a large extent, there’s no going back.
http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2009/20090126_climate.html

But but but you know global warming causes these conditions...

The passengers don't seem to be worried at all. If I was on a ship, dead in the water for two days at -40, I don't think 24 hour party would be my first response......

Obama has promised to send one of his disciples to melt the ice by a waving a wand over the river.

Behold the river JSt Lawrence is saved!

There is this as well:-
Stimulus Plan: Non-Existent Unemployed Climate Modelers Get $140 Million
This is in regard to the stimulus spending bill in the U.S.- the bill reads “Provided further, That not less than $140,000,000 shall be available for climate data modeling.”
http://blog.heritage.org/2009/01/26/stimulus-plan-non-existent-unemployed-climate-modelers-get-140-million/
..........................................
It is vital.....vital I tell you,to have a good model of an irreversible process.

Dats cause yer not a sailor Weasel!!! So long as the fuel, generators and booze hold out, what else would you do?

Further evidence to the warming effects were the ice pans the tide took out of Bedford Basin this morning. Lived here 30 years, second most ice I have seen in the harbour and the last time was sea pack ice blown into the harbour.

It's time for a truly national effort to save the globe. All that ice in the St Lawrence must be towed to the North Pole where it's balmy and warm and ice-free, thus solving both (non-existent) problems.

"The sky is burning, the sky is burning!!"

There, now Barry can mail the stimulus check to me C/O Ad Hoc useful climate hysteria Inc.

We're also available to spread fears needed for any subversive government policy agenda...give us a call...Iggy?

Bedford Basin.....
I recall watching an hour of that McDonald guy, doing a science for kids thingy.....about sea level rise.....
He spent a lot of time, pointing out sea level rise damage in Halifax.....
According to Canada Fisheries and Oceans....their Halifax tidal guage has shown NO change in sea level in 3 decades...... 1cm drop in St John's NB, St John NFD, Churchill MB, Vancouver, Victoria, Prince Rupert BC.....

HMMMMMMM

Have everyone pee off the side of the boat is what I'd do...If they're boozin, they should all quite full. They'll be one their way in no time!

Just saw a clip about Mexican cold snap. They're claiming 30 people have died from the cold. I wish it was as cold here as it is in Mexico right now. I suppose most Mexicans don't even own a warm jacket.

Make sure they look out for the guy in the canoe paddling to the north pole.

How about some, oh, I dunno, model validation, before we hand these guys another big check?

Give them known starting conditions from the past and see if their models replicate known results going forward. No "tweaks" allowed.

Pulled this from the Drudge Report,
GORE HEARING ON WARMING MAY BE PUT ON ICE
Mon Jan 26 2009 17:59:26 ET

Al Gore is scheduled before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday morning to once again testify on the 'urgent need' to combat global warming.

But Mother Nature seems ready to freeze the proceedings.

A 'Winter Storm Watch' has been posted for the nation's capitol and there is a potential for significant snow... sleet... or ice accumulations.

"I can't imagine the Democrats would want to showcase Mr. Gore and his new findings on global warming as a winter storm rages outside," a Republican lawmaker emailed the DRUDGE REPORT. "And if the ice really piles up, it will not be safe to travel."

A spokesman for Sen. John Kerry, who chairs the committee, was not immediately available to comment on contingency plans.

Global warming advocates have suggested this year's wild winter spells are proof of climate change.

Developing...
So when the temperature goes up it is due to global warming and when the temperature goes down it is due to global warming. You just cant win with these delusional idiots.

Does this mean when all the ice melts that the St. Lawrence will overflow its banks and thousands will drown in the floods?

Better hold back the 16 billion in theft..sorry equalization payments to Quebec until we can see how things work out.

CO2 molecules are time stamped?

Obviously we are responsible for this Global Warming errr... Climate Change.

It's been futile to even TRY to predict things more than a couple of weeks out. Look at how many highly paid economists were able to predict the current financial meltdown (hardly any). The people at NOAA are just making themselves, and all the rest of the scientific community, look silly by trying to predict such things. They might as well be on that cruise ship guzzling all that liquor! Then they might look out the window and at least see the real world.

It's lucky they didn't fly to the ski meet. That would have contributed to global warming.

You too can be a climate change expert and offer climate change services like climate change accounting. h/t Globe and Mail.

AtlanticJim: You are absolutely correct, I ain't no sailor. But is a ship like that built for the ice? If it isn't that's awful cold to go for a swim.....

THE GORE EFFECT:
Courtesy of Drudge
http://www.drudgereport.com/flashghi.htm

i know a Quebecois woman whose given name is Deneige.....she's at least 50 years old so it stands to reason her parents were familiar with the phenomenon of cold weather....imagine that...just imagine how long ago that is and how long people in Quebec must have suffered under global cooling....

....now of course...or rather 50 years hence..with the climate change we have brought unto ourselves i fully expect many Quebecois girls will be christened Desecheresse...

Well, for a start, surprising no one, the media got it wrong. She is not a cruise ship, but a Ro-Ro ferry that regularly plys the St. Lawerence as part of the CTMA line.

As such she would have to be CCG certified to operate in the conditions she set out for. Like the Marine Atlantic ferrys, even the most robust ship will get stuck in crap like that. I would suspect that this is hardly the first time she ahs been held up by heavy pack ice.

Atlantic Jim:

I guess that explains the lack of portholes to look at the global warmening through!

...oh so that isn't the HMCS Ambiqette(?)...

The car ferry between PEI and NB that my Sargeant posted me to as a joke when I arrived at RCAF Cold Lake?

Oh love the tag line Kate used "look out your porthole".

Sounds um...

Ah, nevermind.

If I was on a ship, dead in the water for two days at -40, I don't think 24 hour party would be my first response......

You're quite right. A 24 hour party, as a first response to that sort of disaster? Utterly insane.

First sex, to get the circulation going, then 24 hour party. Repeat.

All that ice and no baby seal heads to smash.

Pity.

I hope that ship has those useless little squiggly lights throughout, and isn't leaving a carbon footprint by god. I hope the people on board have given their Ashton Kutcher pledge, I just hope that they know, "they have the power" as the Suzuki says. I can only hope that global warming didn't cause this, cause this is what can happen people! Anything can happen! Oh think of the polar bears, and this ship, is is irreversible...can't take it anymore. Ah single malt has just saved me, back to work.

It's nonsense to say that climate change is irreversible, and ridiculously arrogant, as if those stupid Goreans are playing God, deeming that which shall be in the universe, as if they somehow know, or have the power to make it so.

Sorry, but it's too hilariously absurd to even countenance... they're just plain nuts!

Besides, the climate change over the earth's history did reverse itself, so only a moron would say climate change is irreversible. Only a moron will believe the moronic claim. Of course, there's lots of morons out there, so just watch them believe it!

"CO2 molecules are time stamped?"

As a matter of fact, yes, they are:in little letters, right around the upper molecular bond.

If yours are getting close to their expiration date you can order, for US $49.95 a "Carbon-Fiber CO2 Opener" from Al Gore's web site. It's the convenient answer to an inconvenient date.

BTW, if you order in the next 5 minutes you will get a second one free, for just the cost of shipping.

There are only two weaknesses in the global warming theory, the global part, and the warming part.

Free at last, free at last, thank you Gaia, free at last.

"Deep cold freezes over Lake Erie (could be 1st Lake Michigan freezeover since the 70's!)

This week's bitter cold was enough to freeze over Lake Erie's surface.

But that doesn't mean you take a short-cut across the ice to Canada.

Jim Kosarik, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Cleveland, estimated the lake is 98 percent covered by ice. Some of the lake is covered by chunks and plates of ice that can move around in the wind.

Most of the lake freezes over about six of every 10 years, Korsarik said, and we're right on schedule for when that usually happens -- mid-January.

So did the ice break the Lake Erie snow machine for the season?

Not entirely.

Kosarik said splits and cracks in the ice are enough to produce lake-effect snow. And a north wind can carry lake-effect from other Great Lakes -- particularly Lake Huron -- to our area.

And Lake Erie waters can reopen quickly, he said, if we have several days in a row of temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

But there's no chance of that this week."

So when the temperature goes up it is due to global warming and when the temperature goes down it is due to global warming. You just cant win with these delusional idiots.
Posted by: Warren Z at January 27, 2009 12:47 PM

Yes, Warren Z, that's it in a nutshell. Also, when there's an "extreme" warm, localized weather event, it's proof of global warming. When there's an "extreme" cold, localized weather event, it's just....er....a localized weather event.

I've had it up to my skull cap with global warming idiots. When I talk to people in every day life now, I don't even qualify my language any more. With family. With friends. With clients. When the topic of global warming and/or climate change surfaces, I declare myself an unabashed Denier, and maintain that anybody who believes AGW bunk is a Certified Lemming.

This weather that we are getting is cyclical. I lived on Lake Erie in the 70's and the ice was solid for miles. You could look out and it looked like ice bergs out there. Later in the 70's in came the floods and went to the highway some 3 miles down the road. The winds would show up in the summer and the water would disappear like a tide. People would take their tractors out there and scoop up the coal on the bottom of the lake. Gee I miss those days.

In Southern Ontario we had weather like this in 65, 70, and in the 80s'- nothing to do with CO2.

a pdf , but what the hey?

cal2, thanks for that. I have saved it, and distributed to many friends and colleagues.

Interesting that the "settled" science of the NOAA report states that the supposed warming will result in increased drought a la 1930s dust bowl. However the IPCC's "settled science" reports state unequivocally that warming will result in increased precipitation as a result of acceleration of the hydrological cycle. NOAA also fails to explain how the 1930s dust bowl arose sans elevated CO2.
Have these loons no shame?

Have these loons no shame?

No, they have no shame.

I've been saying it for years, and I think the message is starting to get through to the unwashed masses. Modern day enviro-fascism, evidenced primarily through AWG orthodoxy, is simply the new club being wielded by socialists, communists and Marxists to beat the wealthy, prosperous and healthy western civilization.

It has nothing to do with Saving The Planet (tm). It has everything to do with Big Government, Social Justice, and Redistribution Of Wealth.

Looks like the hockey stick is back. Again.
