Legalize And Tax Honey To Put An End To Organized Crime

Don't tell the leftoid do-gooders in Vancouver . . they'll be demanding a Safe Ingestion Site for honey addicts.

I've heard it said that there's nothing like a Chinese honey.

What I've gleaned from this article is that the trick is to legalize, and *not* tax... ;P

The trick is to obfuscate and deceive.
Take 'Europe's Best' for example
http://www.europesbest.com/en_us/whoweare.php
skim through to "To offer the “best in the world”, our producers are handpicked for the quality of their produce. Our fruit and vegetables come from around the world: we comb the planet to find the very best."
Now a trusting person would assume that the veggies actually come from the EU, with their quite stringent standards. Not so; the packages I looked at stated in small print that the veggies came from China. No thanks.

Another great reason to buy from the Saskatoon Farmer's Market.
BTW, the Europe's Best I've bought was from Chile. And I think the blueberries are from Canada. It depends on the product. Do they really source some from China?

this topic should make all good husbands remember their "honey do" list:-))))

I take the same lesson as K Stricker : )

That's why you need to buy your honey from:

"Nicola Valley Honey" near Merrit, BC.

US Customs should know that Canadian "Nicola Valley Honey" has more MERIT!

Also useful when the diabetics in the household 'go low'.

Maybe these other interlopers should just buzz off.

Cheers

Oh the eating kind! Provocative lead Kate. lol

I love mandarin oranges but I won't allow the Chinese produced ones in the house and unfortunately our local grocer brought in nothing but Chinese fruit this year.

Canadians better get used to China-crap food products because it will be China that feeds this country in the future. Just how many young farmers (regardless of commodity) start up in this country per year?...a few handfuls.

I think Ive heard of this ,out on the farm ,they send out the honey wagon.

Money Laundering. Honey Laundering. What next ?

Just another government department not doing its job. The giveaway is the part where they tell you how many actual inspections get done.

"The FDA's Stutsman said the agency only tests about a hundred honey samples a year and relies heavily on tips from industry whistle-blowers."

A hundred samples for the whole USA. What's their budget again? Could they stand to lose maybe 90% of their staff and maintain the same level of service they currently provide?

I think one guy could do 100 samples as a part time job. What the hell do the rest of the b@stards do?

Phantom; don't know about South of the border but up here the inspectors are harassing farm gate sellers. I kid you not, I'm not allowed to buy a fryer chicken from my next door neighbor here in B.C; massive fines to the hobby farmer $25K - $50

Sorry, make that last line $25,000 t0 $50,000 fines.

That dead dinosaur is SO accurate!

Yes, the Seattle PI is probably going out of business!

Time for personal responsibility, like "the bear" we do not consume food products from China. If some entity is counterfeiting food they should be TASERED at Vancouver, if this is done once or twice problem should be solved. Arm every food inspector with a taser, there should be bargain prices on the older models now since the CBC has decreeded that they(older models) are to powerfull.

A sticky situation to be sure. And another reason whe should be cutting trade with these pirates in China, they respect no international procuct quality standards so I would severly limit food stuff from there unless it has a recognized consumer protection seal and source documentation.

Save your national economy, don't buy Chinese junk.

What's the buzz? Customs is obviously a hive of activity over this one. I won't drone on but as they say, if you want to find the kingpin just follow the honey. If you want to keep the food supply safe you've got to be proactive and not just let contaminated honey shipments go past-yer-eyes.

The Glengarrian:

How the wonders of the Truedopian State has blessed us. We used to send mega tons of wheat to China & the Soviet Union until under the Liberals we became a fascist socialist polity that abandoned Capitalism. Now we have to go hat in hand to procure food, laced with anti-freeze or other poisons from the very Nations we sent grain to. Yup Socialism has been very very good for Canada.
