Just wondering how the time of this post could be 12:01 AM when my clock shows 10:38 PM.

It's 11:45 pm in Newfoundland. So perhaps it was posted from a laptop, aboard a fishing vessel, a few hundred miles out, between the Rock and the next time zone east. It's plausible. ;-)

Welcome to virtual reality, INP. It may show 20:38 your time, but somewhere it shows 00:38 the next day, maybe in, say, Atlantic Canada, perhaps (tonight's show was ½ hour early, I admit). Usually we publish SDA LNR somewhere around GMT-0500, modulo DST, yet remember, Small Dead Animals is an international blog, so technically the window of opportunity is t ± ( 12 - ε ) hours.

Thanks for the show Vit. That program was recorded when I was two years old, nevertheless it brings me back to some fond memories, when I saw Lionel Hampton in Montreal in the 50's. Also saw Gene Krupa in New York, either at Birdland or the Metropole. Don't remember which because I went to both places.

Some vigilante justice in Winnipeg, and the Sun is putting out some bait for the Southern Chiefs Organization:

http://www.winnipegsun.com/news/winnipeg/2009/01/02/7905511.html

The Southern Chiefs are the group that got all riled up after Matthew Dumas' shooting(he lunged at a police officer with a weapon) where he died.

On a separate one, I forget the guys name, he was shot by police. Southern Chiefs accused the police of racism. Then it turned out, the cop was himself native. Oops.

Watch for a response from them within a day or two regarding the vigilante action. Cause you know, it has nothing to do with the fact that the suspect matched the description of someone doing several B&E's in the area. No, it's because he's native.

You may, Ghost of Ed, like this delightful Lionel Hampton & Benny Goodman
show we previously featured here at Small Dead Animals Late Nite Radio.

It's uaually only a handful of scumbags that can cause a whole town to live in fear of robbery, theft or abduction.

The town that made it law that every house "Had to have a rifle and ammo" dropped off the national average scale for crime.

Bottom line is that "All it takes for evil to flourish is for good men to do nothing."

Good on the guys that were involved in catching this piece of trash. Trying to steal a car with the guys wife and child in it? Lucky he's alive. Mucking with a man's family!! Not a healthy thing to do.

Seems like a very pro-hamas article... Near the end...

The other great strength of Hamas, say Shaul Mishal and Avraham Sela, two Israeli academics who authored the book The Palestinian Hamas, is that it is more than just a militant or terrorist movement. “Contrary to this description, it is essentially a social movement,” they write. “As such, Hamas has directed its energies and resources primarily toward providing services to the community, especially responding to its immediate hardships and concerns.”

Yet these same people, are also responsible for the hardships and concerns. They create a vacuum, then fill it with their "social justice". Whatever that means.

The Hamas Covenant

There is no solution to the Palestinian question except by Jihad. All initiatives, proposals, and International Conferences are a waste of time and vain endeavors.
. . .
In the face of the Jewish occupation of Palestine, it is necessary to raise the banner of jihad. This requires the propagation of Islamic consciousness among the masses, locally [in Palestine], in the Arab world and in the Islamic world. It is necessary to instill the spirit of jihad in the nation, engage the enemies and join the ranks of the jihad fighters.
. . .
It is necessary to establish in the minds of all the Muslim generations that the Palestinian issue is a religious issue, and that it must be dealt with as such, for [Palestine] contains Islamic holy places, [namely] the Al-Aqsa mosque, which is inseparably connected, for as long as heaven and earth shall endure, to the holy mosque of Mecca through the Prophet’s nocturnal journey [from the mosque of Mecca to the Al-Aqsa mosque] and through his ascension to heaven thence.
. . .
Muslims cannot conclude peace with those Jews who have usurped the territory of Palestine and attacked its people and their property in any manner which allows the Jews to continue as a state in that sacred Muslim territory.

Remember kids, it's all about the land!

(Via SWJ) Michael Evans, Death from above: how Predator is taking its toll on al-Qaeda

The top hierarchy of al-Qaeda has taken such a hit from US missile strikes that Osama bin Laden and his deputy have had to replace people in the terrorist organisation with men they have never met, according to Western intelligence sources.

A dozen of al-Qaeda’s “senior management” have been killed by Predator drone attacks, which have been so effective in locating their targets that the militant group has been forced to move from traditional outdoor training camps to classroom-style facilities that are hidden from view...

"Czechs providing balances

I can't get enough of those Czechs.

First it was their president, Vaclav Klaus, laughing at global warming fanatics, those proposing mega-bailouts in the recession, and disparaging the European Union itself -- as he takes over the EU's presidency.

My favourite excerpt from that story is how Klaus refuses to fly the European flag over his castle -- and how he cut down a snooty French Eurofanatic who demanded that he did:

"No one has ever spoken to me here in this tone. You aren't on the barricades of Paris. I have never heard anything so insolent in this hall," Klaus spluttered. "The way Cohn-Bendit speaks to me is exactly the way the Soviets used to speak."

The Eurolovers at the Guardian didn't like that -- they jabbed at him by saying he "spluttered" those words. But I bet Czechs loved it, as did Euroskeptics throughout the continent.

Then the magnificently named Karl Johannes Nepomuk Josef Norbert Friedrich Antonius Wratislaw Mena von Schwarzenberg (his friends just call him Karel), Klaus's foreign minister, said what any foreign minister in a former Soviet colony would say:

Let us realize one thing: Hamas steeply increased the number of rockets fired at Israel since the cease-fire ended on December 19. This is no longer acceptable."

"Francisco's 'Money' Speech from "Atlas Shrugged"

"So you think that money is the root of all evil?" said Francisco d'Aconia. "Have you ever asked what is the root of money? Money is a tool of exchange, which can't exist unless there are goods produced and men able to produce them. Money is the material shape of the principle that men who wish to deal with one another must deal by trade and give value for value. Money is not the tool of the moochers, who claim your product by tears, or of the looters, who take it from you by force. Money is made possible only by the men who produce. Is this what you consider evil?

"When you accept money in payment for your effort, you do so only on the conviction that you will exchange it for the product of the effort of others. It is not the moochers or the looters who give value to money. Not an ocean of tears nor all the guns in the world can transform those pieces of paper in your wallet into the bread you will need to survive tomorrow. Those pieces of paper, which should have been gold, are a token of honor – your claim upon the energy of the men who produce. Your wallet is your statement of hope that somewhere in the world around you there are men who will not default on that moral principle which is the root of money. Is this what you consider evil?

"Have you ever looked for the root of production?"

I just heard a professor from the Univ. of Western Ontario - Michael L... (couldn't get the spelling of his last name) say, "Israel's disproportionate response may very well warrant war crimes and human rights violations."

Can we expand our "Fire Them All" chant for the CBC and HRCs to also include all Radical Left "professors" in this country. They're truly pathetic!

" Czechs Providing balance" - They also provide very fine firearms, and have for a long, long time.

What a laugh. A "disproportionate" response is a war crime? Is that a subcategory of "mean bully?"

OTOH, holding human shields, and shedding your uniforms for civies is a war crime.

The lack of objectivity of Israel haters is something to behold, such as attacks from Gaza justified by "occupation" of West Bank.

I say it again, renounce violence. If Israel continues their actions in absense of violence, then the case against them can be made. That hasn't happened, and won't, so therefore most of the Israel the only bad player arguments are BS.

"“Green Helmet Guy” now working for Hamas

“Green Helmet Guy”, whose photos depicting him carrying the corpse of a child went viral during the July 2006 war in Lebanon, has resurfaced.

Playing a prominent role in proven bogus pictures in the aftermath of the July 30, 2006 raid on Qana where he seemed to be on the payroll of Hezbollah, the corpse-bearing photo of “Green Helmet Guy”, aka “Mr. Green Helmet” is now being used to disseminate Hamas propaganda.

YouTube can now be added to Green Helmet Guy’s propaganda arsenal. In a YouTube entitled “Ahmed Hamdy Singing for Ghazah, here Green Helmet Guy is holding up the corpse of the same child he held up two years ago in Lebanon. It is unlikely that singer Ahmed Hamdy knows his singing is being used to promote propaganda via YouTube.

Graphic photos of Palestinian victims, many of them dead or mortally wounded children, appear in the YouTube with Hamdy’s voice singing in the background. The YouTube, which includes messages written in Arabic, was put together by Mohamed Ibrahim.

Green Helmet Guy was caught red-handed when bloggers spotted him in the aftermath of the raid on Qana as a “rescue worker” who seemed to parade around with the corpse of a child for protracted periods of time.

“Many bloggers speculated that he is, in fact, a Hezbollah “set designer” and media relations officer whose job is to milk maximum propaganda value from each photo opportunity, with the cooperation of willing photographers, who must witness his shenanigans in person, but not report on them.” [...]

Canada Free Press (CFP) was sent the YouTube on an email list that included info@radioislam,com. CFP’s IT expert Brian Thompson recognized Green Helmet Guy when checking to see what was on the video."

Mr. Gore: Apology Accepted

You are probably wondering whether President-elect Obama owes the world an apology for his actions regarding global warming. The answer is, not yet. There is one person, however, who does. You have probably guessed his name: Al Gore.

Mr. Gore has stated, regarding climate change, that “the science is in.” Well, he is absolutely right about that, except for one tiny thing. It is the biggest whopper ever sold to the public in the history of humankind.

What is wrong with the statement? A brief list:

1. First, the expression “climate change” itself is a redundancy, and contains a lie."

Thank you very, very much for the link. That article is one of the more concise pieces I've seen that not just refutes AGW, but explains what is really going on.

I not only bookmarked this piece but I printed off a few copies for the reality deniers I have been dealing with of late.

I don't want an apology frome Gore et al. I want money back via a lawsuit for the bogus cost I have incurred due to taxes, transportation and energy price increases over the last five years that have funded this scam.

(charging these clowns with treason is wishful thinking.)

Having Vaclav Claus address parliment on the Climate Change Hoax would definitely be the bonus round.

"China rattled by Sun King attack

An elite dissident has split party leaders with criticism of their ‘sham’ reforms

THE most prominent dissident still living in China has attacked the Communist party’s economic reforms and compared Deng Xiaoping, its late leader, to Louis XIV.

His essays are the second public challenge to the leadership after the appearance of Charter 08, a manifesto for political change that has been signed by more than 7,000 prominent citizens.

The essayist is Bao Tong, 76, who was the highest-ranking official imprisoned after the 1989 crackdown on China’s democracy movement. He served a seven-year sentence and now lives under house arrest in Beijing.

The essays contain devastating language. They will agitate China’s leaders because of Bao’s status as a veteran comrade speaking out while thousands of workers lose their jobs as a result of the world recession. The essays appeared as the party was celebrating 30 years of the “reform and opening-up” policy instituted by Deng, who died in 1997.

Bao says true economic reform died in 1989 when Deng turned against political liberalism and backed rule by a strong state. He argues that the party has merely transferred economic privilege to a corrupt bureaucratic elite. “The price we have paid for it today has been too steep: a cheap labour force, added to massive plunder of natural resources, poisoned air and polluted water,” Bao writes.

The essays were broadcast on the Chinese-language service of Radio Free Asia, a US-funded station, and have been posted on the internet.

The fact that Bao has apparently not been punished suggests to Chinese analysts that the reformist faction inside the party remains influential enough to protect him."

"Army puts collection of Korean War photos, videos online

PYEONGTAEK, South Korea — The U.S. Army is now offering on the Internet a rare and often stark look at Korean War combat captured through the lenses of military photographers and other cameramen.

The images — which also document the plight of Korea’s war-stricken refugees — provide a broad look at the 1950 to 1953 war that ravaged the peninsula and led to a U.S. military presence in South Korea that continues to this day.

Installation Management Command-Korea posted more than 40 video clips and about 150 still photos from Defense Department archives that show all the services in action.

The videos can be found on YouTube, and the photos are on Flickr."
