No double standard here from the MSM now is there?

Oh nothing bad ever happened until 2001 when W took office. That incident in 1993 was just a misunderstanding is all.

I don’t remember allot of protest when he bombed the hell out of non-Muslim Serbia either.

Of course the people there remember.

Here's a nice direct link to the carnage that didn't matter to the lefty world as long as they were not Muslim.

You silly neocons, get with the official program:

When a Democrat American president or left-leaning country uses its military then it's for a just and righteous cause.

But when a Republican American president or right-leaning country does EXACTLY the same thing then its genocide and war crimes.

Can't you see the difference in actions?!?

LOL

Why does “globalization” always have to be a one way street with you people?

Not to sound insensitive, but if indeed your internet conspiracy buddies were correct, what’s the problem? I don’t think there are very many cars to fuel and oil in Gaza anyway, and the UN seems to provide most of their transportation.

Deez or New. I can't tell the difference. They come and they go.

"Takes me back to that day in 1993, when President Bill Clinton sent six warships to blockade Haiti."

I thought that your smearing the vast majority of western civilization as "anti-semites" was the absolute lowest level of debate possible by the human race, but this - this wretched moral equivilency - is arguably a stupider argument.

Israel's latest invasion has its positive side: it is helpful in distinguishing the unpatriotic fauxcons whose loyalty is to Israel from the authentic conservatives whose loyalty is to USA, Canada, and western civilization.

It's a simple process to extract the fauxcon cancer from the conservative body politic:

1. Has this person accused anyone of anti-semitism in the past week?

Yes: you've got yourself a fauxcon.
No: possible conservative.

Conservatives don't make lame excuses on behalf of third world Asian countries, and we don't accuse our fellow citizens of "racism", an alien concept that appears nowhere in history, philosophy, or literature until it was invented by proto-neocon Leon Trotsky in the early 20th century.

Deez - stop your links, your killing me here. I know that you think they are "legitimate news" (which I though you didn't trust anyways) but to any sane person the lunacy equates to sheer comedic madness/genius (it's really hard to tell)!

Fauxcon - yah, really, nothing exists until someone defines the " construct" and thus provides a reality for it. Have a nice life with that logic!!!

I do believe Kate is trying to point out the hypocrisy of the media/left for ignoring Clinton's little useless blockade of Haiti while they turn around and convict all of Isreal of gross and indecent crimes for teh gaza blockade.

Perhaps you see some sort of moral equivalency argument here, but then again, you would - wouldn't you?

Plus, I don't believe anyone here was smearing the vast majority of western civilization as "anti-semites"! I believe most were just smearing* YOU and fellow lefty anti-semites.

Smearing : as redefined to mean providing facts and logic to show the hypocritical nature of the left when it comes to anything to do with Isreal.

And "lowest level of debate possible by the human race", really, like lower than saying, oh I don't know, how about "Jews making cookies with the blood of palestinian children"??

Fauxcon finder
Your stupidity is only surpassed by your jew hating anti semitism.

Actually, nobody has figured this one out so far.

But, please continue!

Sorry Kate, I should read your titles more often...considering that Gaza gets most of its crap smuggled across borders a naval blockade wouldn't actually do much.

Clinton probably had his "mind" in other things at the time and confused Haiti & Cuba next door.

Things like that happen when you get distracted, right Monica ?

What good is a blockade if they're only partly surrounded? Land travel through Dominican Republic for Haitians and sea travel for the Gaza strip.

That's my guess...

Like the Hostess said people, THINK!!! A naval blockade!

Oh...and how about all of the tunnels from Egypt from the unsecured borders? Station guards at the front door, don't worry about the back...

Maybe bill thought that arms were being smuggled in from cuba or gitmo to supply the uprising against ariside?

What good is a blockade when the country in question produces nothing of value to the outside world?

That kinda along the lines of your thinking Kate?

Grook is the closest.

Gaza has a border with Egypt. Blockading Gaza is about as effective as putting a fence around three sides of your cattle herd.

Unless some else puts a fence on the fourth.

blockade implies surround , cut off of all supplies. Berlin was blockaded by the soviets and releaved by air. gazans have two other exits. not the brightest bulbs in the mid east.

rats I was typing when kate put the answer up.

But who to appoint as the new leadership in Gaza? Using Haiti as the model they'd have to pick the worst governance (aside from anarchy) that they've had. That would seem to be the current "leadership" (if it can be found what rock they're hiding under).

Here's another valid news source for you, Deezflowers: http://www.davidicke.com/index.php/.

Gaza may have a border with Egypt but it has been closed since this foolishness started. Even Egypt doesn't want anything to do with Hamas or the Palestinians. That is "closed", as in officially closed. No doubt there are more than a few border guards that are "earning" their Christmas bonus this year. btw, Does Iran pay in American money?

The naval blockade is more to show that the head honchos of Hamas can't go for a cruise to get out of town. Remember that the big bad guys aren't the ones blowing themselves up. They take great care to protect their soft backsides.

Of course it's too late to properly take credit now, but the only thing I thought of when I say this post was "How can you blockade a country from less than all sides?"

You know Kate, conspicuously absent in any MSM reports on the Israel-Gaza news are maps.
I guess geography is so yesterday.
We have our maps on the wall, atlas handy to discuss these situations in our home.

Of course they are blockading Gaza, they are at war with Gaza. What the hell else do you think they are going to do?

Kate wrote:

Very true, but doesn't Egypt also have a fence up to keep the Palestinians out?

So much for Muslim solidarity.

Sometimes a blockade is intended to keep somebody in, rather than keep somebody out.

So long Hamas, it was nice knowing you.

Gaza was part of Egypt, so aren't the "Palestinians" just Egyptians that Egypt doesn't want any more?

Wheres the cry's for Egypt to open the boarders to allow refugees out and aid in?

Fauxon Finder? Ought that not to be Faux off, Finder?

Oh, the sheer irony of reviewing the Googled headlines link from a year ago about that "crippling" Gaza blockade. It's the same old song and dance with these people - arming, provoking Israel, having their asses kicked, promises to behave, then re-arming again ad infinitum - only the newspaper date changes. The MSM support for Palestinian duplicity never wavers because they are too dumb to review their own archives.

Israel has until the 20th before the Dems throw them under the bus in time, so here's hoping they utilize the next few weeks by inflicting maximum damage to Hamas.

Clinton blockaded Haiti in '93 to stop the boat refugees.

"In an attempt to block a wave of refugees who were expected to sail in hopes of arriving in the United States on Wednesday, Inauguration Day, Mr. Clinton announced on Thursday that he would return the boat people without giving them a chance to apply for asylum. On Friday, the Coast Guard began to move ships toward Haiti to help discourage people from fleeing."

Perhaps the reality of the blockade is to force the population to rebel against Hamas and also to force the legitimate government of Gaza to take action to be a government.
This would seem a lot more expedient than putting your own forces on the ground... Let the general populace do it for you!

Duffman, when Israel declared independence in 1948, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq declared war on Israel and urged Arabs inside Israel to flee so they wouldn't be caught in the war. Egypt took control of Gaza, Jordan annexed the West Bank. Refugee camps were set up in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and the West Bank, and all are still there today. Israel inherited the problems of Gaza and the West Bank several decades later. And by the way, nobody ever complains about the poor treatment of the Palestinian refugees in Syria or Jordan.

And of course Egypt blocked the border because the delusional Condoleeza (Mahmoud Abbas is Martin Luther King) Rice insisted on "democracy" resulting in Hamas controlling the strip and several Muslim Brotherhood seats in the Egyptian parliament. Hamas is of course a branch of the MB.

Kate, I was thinking hard.

Looking at the map, my thinking was centered on how we should offer every citizen of the Turks and Caicos Islands a million dollars to join Canada and then offer very cheap airfares there.

A two or three day sunny getaway would be nice right about now.

The established line is that how could Hamas have any chance at an economy with Israel's brutal crippling blockade. But as Kate's picture points out, there has never been a crippling blockade because their border with the Mediterranean has always been open.

Egypt does indeed have fences and walls along their border with Gaza. But it's not like the big old Israeli apartheid wall that we hear about in the MSM. Egypt just has big tall fences and walls to keep out the Palestinian rabble. Apparently Palestinians are as welcome in Egypt as they are in all the other arab counties.

A Little pissant dictatorship criminal run Country like Haiti gets this array of warships! Yet what of Israel? A staunch ally of the US & Western block? Both Canada & the US just out of spite at the UN if nothing else. Should be sending forces to help perhaps blockade Gaza till they have no rockets or bullets. The Eurabians won't that’s for sure. Let them try to nuke Jooo's while where there on the ground. Hell can fall from different directions, which it assuredly would at an attack like that.

FWIW . after Israel yanked their citizens out of Gaza by force to accommodate Hamas and their demands...the Israelis were forced to barricade the crossing points.

Hamas went into Gaza and started handing out Millions$$ ..... which the locals promptly took into Egypt to by colour TVs and such.... by the truckload..... only one problem .... counterfeit cash!

The Egyptians still HATE jews .... but they don't trust their Arab bretheren at all and WILL NOT lift a finger to help them.

Re the UN aid commissariat getting bombed.... how many Hamasses were hiding there?

Fair dinkum.

Glad to see Israel is using Smart Bombs:

damn smart I'd say, should have used them JUST like that when in southern Lebanon the last time, maybe the Hizbollah would have had to have done their own recon!!

The next smart bomb on the UN should be in NYC.

Screw the warships. Lets get the Dominican Rebublic to build us a fence. You figure they can keep the locust Hatians out of a shared border, they gotta have something going right. Ever Google Earth this island? You don't need a yellow line to mark the boundry.

Knight99: What do you mean "why does globalization have to be a one way street"? Please elaborate.

Are you trying to say that because in your opinion Palestinians don't have an overwhelming demand for oil that any reserves they might have are up for the taking? Well, I guess we should get ready for China to come and take over our oil sands then eh?

Michael H Anderson: You've tried to compare a clearly...CLEARLY unreliable sources with an independent international news organization. Try again. I could do the same with a "pro-Israeli" garbage website.

Penny: You managed to both criticize the information given by MSM and use it to support a statement in the same post. See any problem with that?
