As much as I enjoy Ace's hobo hunting stories and his flaming skulls, Kate gets my vote due to her magnificent way with words that put forward a conservative message with humour, wit, and constructive arguments that are tough to beat.
Currently 5229 to 5199. It's like Coleman vs. Franken.
P.S. I hope that no one takes these things too seriously. It's like the CBC nominating Tommy Douglas as most Important Canadian or whatever that was - popularity contests - ughhh!
P.S.2. Kate, if you do win I hope in a few years you don't end up entangled with Mexican narco-terrorists like that Latin Beauty Queen!!

Ah Kate, competition brings out the best in you. It is one thing to work hard to achieve, it is quite another to have FUN doing it. That is what I have been noticing, not a lot of bashing and cheap talk. The blogging community should teach that to the political people on both sides of the border.
Of course, this type of poll doesn't truly identify the BEST CONSERVATIVE blog...there is no objective test used by voters, it is simply a popularity contest.
This poll more accurately identifies which blog has the most active and dedicated readers. Of course, such dedication is engendered primarily by the intelligence, wit and temperment of the blogger...that is, how much respect the readers have for the blogger.
So, Kate, win or lose, this poll is really a testament to how much we in SDA-land respect / cherish you.
I vote every morning, and SDA is trailing just slightly now; it's good to see that Ezra is running away with "Best Canadian" though. From the "When you're on the same side of an issue as David Orchard, that should be your first clue..." file, many Libloggers are still trying to run with this "oh, we're not anti-Semitic, we're anti-Zionist" angle; http://calsun.canoe.ca/News/National/2009/01/08/7962756.html
Guys, this is no time to engage in the age old Canadian tradition of apologizing or justifying a loss before it even happens. I know a lot of people do that in order to try and help someone have less hurt feelings in case they get 2nd.
That's really not a conservative value, is it? The time is now to vote from work and home and your friend's house and get all your conservative friends who stop by once in a while, to stop in daily to vote until the 13th.
Kate can easily win this, so let's do it.
I'm asking Darcey at Dust My Broom and Ezra to put a link to vote for Kate on their sites as well.
Knowing that most Americans (probably Ace, himself) know very little about Canada's political culture, I've just posted this at Ace of Spades:
Re Small Dead Animals (SDA), biff has it exactly right. [". . . Not to influence votes or anything, but while this site is one of my favourites, Kate at SDA is literally the pointy tip of the spear being thrown at the left in Canada."]
Unlike Canada's "progressives" on the left—four out of five of our political parties and virtually all of our public and private institutions, including the MSM—whose official philosophy is virulently anti-American (except, now, for Obama worship), Kate's site is an oasis of pro-American sentiment.
Most of us see the US as the best friend Canadians have and we're utterly ashamed of the American bashing of the brainwashed lefties, who pretty well run our country—into the ground. SDA is a beach head to reclaim our integrity as a country—from a European like, socialist Nanny State, where mediocrity and irresponsibility are regularly rewarded, to a society more like the one many of us grew up in, where responsibility trumped rights virtually every time and accountable citizens, who behaved like adults, made the decisions, rather than the present day “adult toddlers”, who use the country as a great big playpen—on the backs of the responsible Canadians, who pay. . . and pay . . . and pay the bills.
Canada also has government run Human Rights (sic) Commissions (HRCs), which cherry pick their victims—always on the right side of the political spectrum. These kangaroo courts, where due process is noticeably absent, strip their victims of their dignity, their money, and, finally, in their astonishingly totalitarian edicts, the victims’ free speech and, often, religious rights as well. (HRCs also act as a huge chill on politically incorrect expression.)
For taking a bold stand against these jackboots of the state, Kate has been sued by one of their “Orcs”.
So, SDA is a most worthy opponent: I believe Ace of Spades HQ should be honoured to be in the same category!
"Knowing that most Americans (probably Ace, himself) know very little about Canada's political culture, I've just posted this at Ace of Spades:, etc, etc, . . . "
Looking at the tally, I think I'm seeing "some movement on the floor of the convention", as in other candidates seem to be making their way through the throngs to Ace of Spades, the front runner.
Could this be an "anybody but SDA" strategy developing?
I mean, the prospects of a Canadian blogger topping the list? Quel horreur!
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media

have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -

Know what the difference is between the best conservative blog in the US and Canada?
Lipstick!
Ace is steamed! Hah!
Good luck Kate!

I vote every morning while I'm sipping my morning coffee waiting for my synapses to start sparking.
At work when I'm checking the score I'm sorely tempted to vote 'again' - but I won't cause I'm conservative....
