33 Replies to “Clinton Hack To Head CIA”

  1. Seems to me that the change you can believe in isn’t panning out the way many BO supporters may have expected. They shoulda just voted for the Hildebeast.

  2. The Democrats really need a loyal lapdog in the CIA to start shredding the files before any more international sellouts, corruption or treason by the Party Leadership can be revealed.
    Clinton will be especially happy

  3. The Obama Presidency has more scandal than ALL of the Bush years combined, and Obama isn’t even in office yet!!!

  4. In choosing Leon E. Panetta to be the next CIA director, President-elect Barack Obama appears to have concluded that a spy chief who understands politics may be better equipped to carry out the incoming administration’s national security agenda than one who understands espionage.

And there’s plenty of politics in the Byzantine world of U.S. intelligence: this primer is 490 pages. Better start studying, Leon, there’ll be a pop quiz soon:
Dr. Gabriel Marcella (ed.), Affairs of State: The Interagency and National Security
The United States has a large and complex interagency process to deal with national security on a global basis. It is imperative that civilian and military professionals understand that process. The chapters in this volume deal with various dimensions and institutions, from the National Security Council, the Department of State, and other agencies. It also contains case studies of interagency coordination and integration…

  5. “The Obama Presidency has more scandal than ALL of the Bush years combined, and Obama isn’t even in office yet!!!”
    You can’t be serious…

  6. I’m no expert but I often support brining in someone from the “outside” to run an organization; so an argument based strictly on the fact he’s not from the intelligence community doesn’t hold water with me.

  7. A guy with no experience hires another guy with no experience. This really can’t come as a surprise.
While it would have been wise for Obama to find the best and the brightest – after all, no one person can be an expert on every topic, so take all the help you can get – surrounding himself with the best and and the brightest would only serve to point out how mediocre Obama really is.

  8. Like they said at HA this morning, he picked another Clinton hack with no foreign policy experience for Sec State, so this should really come as no surprise.

  9. Indiana Homez,
Bringing someone in from outside an organization is very often a good shot in the arm, but only if the someone has an inkling what the organization does.
The way you present it, a mine engineer would be a good prospect to replace a software CEO.

  10. Kate;
My initial reaction to the Panetta appointment was the same as your’s until this morning when I read a short column by Michael Ledeen who likes the appointment. Sorry but can’t find the link. Ledeen, to my mind anyway, is a highly credible actor with respect to security issues and the war on terror. If he likes Panetta, maybe we should give him a chance.

  11. I’m all for going green and doing my part to save the planet yada-yada, but must we recycle politicians too? How many Clinton-era has-beens does this make now in high-profile cabinet positions? Does everyone really want a replay of the Clinton administration?! If I were Mrs. O, I’d be keeping my eyes open for a little blue dress lying about…
On another disturbing note (and, come on, there are so many disturbing notes surrounding the Obamessiah…), is anyone else surprised at the media’s constant comparisons to JFK? Great President aside, that one didn’t end so nicely for the Kennedys or the nation. Are they purposely jinxing his future or are they that stup…never mind.

  12. Indian: By your logic Someone with no experience in Hospital administration should be allowed to be one or someone in chagre of the building of a bridge should have no background in Engineeering.
What’s at stake in running the CIA is far, far too important to be left under the mgmt of someone with no experience.
Panetta is against torture and apparently ahs been hostile to the CIA in other ways. The lobbying abilities of the CIA and its supporters is very strong in both parties so it is possible that that appointment may not be permitted by the House and Senate.
This appointment demonstrates all that it suspect about BO’s abilities as a C in C.

I know I didn’t word it correctly, and I’ll point out that I said I’m not an expert. That being said, I do think a good executive can operate an organization effectively if that person is a good executive. I don’t prescribe to the theory that only healthcare professionals can run the healthcare system. The background is usually good experience but in my opinion is also often a hindrance.
I’m not supporting Obama’s choice to head the CIA, I don’t know enough to have a good opinion. I am simply trying to say I don’t think being a spy is necessarily the only or best criteria in appointing the CIA head; therefore, I think another line of criticism would be better.

  14. Gord
I’m not saying I support appointing someone who isn’t qualified. I’m saying that experience with the CIA isn’t necessarily the only or most important qualification for the job.
One doesn’t have to look in the auto industry to find the next CEO. There could be a qualified CEO with experience in another industry who can apply his/her craft effectively in the aforementioned industry.
If I followed the reasoning you suggest, many of the former Presidents were not qualified to be Commander in Chief.

  15. Madam secretory
relatioship of mr. clinton and mrs. clinton with
newyork and put mrs. kennedy in newyork
it is proof newyork direct forign policy
    to gov. of USA
    this habit need to review
and money taking must be review
and conflict of interest must be review
this is proof OBAMA is quiet not know what he can do for best and may be later he can come and fix it or just let mrs. clinton to follow past

You must be smoking some really good crack if you think Oboma had more scandals than Bush. Damn you guys are so desperate.
I just got back from vacation in Mexico and all the Americans I talk down there can’t wait to see Bush gone. Not one American had a good thing to say about Bush and most are very hopeful about Oboma.

  17. Having something “go wrong” isn’t a problem when there are plenty of political and media hacks who are able to spin it away, or simply ignore it altogether.
As an example, Jamie Gorelick’s fingerprints can be found all over the place – from the 9/11 Commission conflict-of-interest to Fannie Mae – but this will never be big news. Most people, including Obama voters, probably never heard of her, just like they don’t know who Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Dodd, etc. are and how government powers and responsibilities are divided up.
It makes political sense (not security sense) to appoint a political hack who can effectively massage handling of events that shape public opinion when even the slightest intelligence misstep could have enormous and disastrous consequences.

  18. Indian: Panetta has no experience in the field of intel. BO has a fair amount of experience in being a politician (not enough IMO) and thus is far mre qualified to be potus than Panetta is to head the CIA. Should this appt go through it will not end well – hopefully for panetta and not for america and the rest of the free world.

  19. Obama’s appointments with so many of the same old re-cycled Democrat hacks, I mean, please Hillary as Secretary of State?, really exposes him as simply not very original or independent. Richardson’s, one of the biggest Dem dolts who is always sucking up, poorly vetted choice was in gratitude for delivering New Mexico. Even considering Robert Rubin with his tentacles all over WS’s disgrace was stupid move.
Panetta will simply be reunited with the Clinton people that Bush failed to purge from the CIA. Same with Hillary at the State Dept.
At some point in this administration when they drag in the pathetic carcass of Jimmy Carter you’ll know they jumped the shark.

  20. “I just got back from vacation in Mexico and all the Americans I talk down there can’t wait to see Bush gone. Not one American had a good thing to say about Bush and most are very hopeful about Oboma.”
From this I would guess that “all” the Americans you talked to, came from California and worked in Hollywood! There’s a truckload or two of people who are going to be entirely surprised when GWB’s departure does not change international politics, or national politics for that matter. There will only be the ashes of the Bush Derangement Syndrome…which will further derange them.
As to Panetta, someone elsewhere already posted today that he was put into the CIA to stop it from waging war against the new President, as it did against the old President. And Panetta is politically attuned enough and politically astute enough to stomp on that sort of thing stat! Note also that Hillary will be at State…which gave Bill (and George, despite Condi) lots of problems. And both Panetta and Hilary know where the bodies are buried, on both sides of the battlefield. Both State and the CIA need to be taken to the woodhouse and given a good spanking over their supercilious arrogance. Looks like O’B may be smarter at that level than we have given him credit for…and of course, if it doesn’t work out for his choices, there’s lots of buses under which the bodies can be thrown.
Guess I should’a started with metaphor alert!

  21. having conflict of Mrs. clinton with obama
    during campaign of presidency
also bring more risk for obama
    if obama allowed clinton to
follow her husband view not new view from
change if really obama do the change
    to forign policy of USA.
bring all old guy back if not smart and
can even be safty and security
from inside against used for obama i think
    if some thing goes wrong
this can be go back to another election in 4 years in benefit of not obama also
this is goes mostly for lack of experince from obama to begin with
and also this is becuase he may think
he must allowed all staff do waht
they like to do while all must get reviewed all
    over again
Mrs. clinton has history of not help men abuse and will may caused her husband like his secretor more than her only for abondent and not pay attention to his ideas to start with
if Mrs. clinton get this job and not listen and
do what she like to do
it will made her easy to change to new position too
while they can start with her and change with new one any time
    as Obama
    came with idea of “chang”
it means he can change who ever he likes any time too if not fit with it
i only wish money and power and enjoyment and false
clap and nap his back do not made obama got proud for wrong direction to not see facts before made decision or one isreali come to him
and tell him he is teh best nice blakc man jewish isreali to made him fool again with
    their play a game again
    this is politic
politic used for play to stop viloance not made so many violance then aske intelengt to find who is agaisnt with them like isreali recent look for hamas leader to hit the all citizeis
while still too early to be too optomestic or too pasemestic
just have to wait and watch and
hope they do it right plan not wrong
that is last chance for democrate to stay in power and bring more peace other wise
next run go back to repulcian with more violance of war again
who care how many intelengen working in war zone all are suspected peopel to begin with
forign policy of US need to get changed

  22. I’m sure he would staff with a Dem if he had one. The people that know what to do are currently doing it therefore toxic. When it seems all of his friends are radicals who do you pick for security? Probably not his illegal grandma (not the racist one, the one Pres Bush stopped all homeland security arrests and deportations for 72 hours so she could..disappear during the election.)
I don’t know what happened to the US. They are still great people but man I just see no backlash to Franken etc. Has it become that hopeless?Caroline Kennedy may be a great Senator but you know, she just isn’t ready you know. The blatant pork isn’t even discussed, doesn’t amaze at the brazenness and is accepted. Not My Problem. Yeh, it is. O got the people involved, now educate them a little.

  23. An actor walks upon the floodlit stage of life
wearing a mask of an angel beneath a demon’s gown.
Pretence smiles upon the crowded hall of life
holding out hope as bright as it is false.
Son of a woman in whose veins flows the blood
of ancient Ireland and dark Africa’s plains.
You are Obama, nick-named the standing king
You are Barack, oh, son born to deceive
The suffering hoards of Africa look up to you,
See a black saviour where nought but a Judas strides.
An entrapper of nations, bringer of dismal war
Behind the robes and the nylon wings of hope
Oh, may those who look upon you, see you as you are.
May those who hope in you behold you as you be
A prince deceitful to bring down Africa’s shrines
A siren who leads Africa’s ships onto rocks of obliteration.
Your rule my lord will not be one of peace
Your reign my king will not be one of smiles
Even as we speak in caves both dark and dank
Enraged fanatics plot your dark demise
They will put around your head a bloodwet martyr’s crown.
Oh black Kennedy following the one before
May God forgive thee and thy fiery spouse
As you walk in silence from the stage of life
Barack Obama, blessed son, Oh standing king.
    Credo Mutwa

I just made a similar comment to someone today. It seems like the average American just doesn’t care anymore.

    We’re desperate?
You don’t find that there are a tremendous number of scandals involving Obama and his people? Or you just choose to ignore them? Rezko. That is one name of someone who will bring down Obama. Bush had his problems, and I, personally, was disappointed with the man, but the number of criminals around Obama is FAR more than Bush.
Obama isn’t even in office yet and his former business partner (Rezko) is waiting for his sentencing on numerous convictions.
You can’t deny the corruption, that is what upsets you.

  26. oops, I clicked on the wrong comment, this should be posted above with the thugs and critters.

  27. New – I’m sure you have some interesting things to say.
If you try to put forward your ideas one or two at a time in two or three sentences, I’m pretty sure some of us might read them.

  28. bob c. writes: “Michael Ledeen … likes the appointment. … If he likes Panetta, maybe we should give him a chance.”
Perhaps Prof. Ledeen is just relieved that the appointment didn’t come from Obama’s base supporters.
I first came across Panetta many years ago when he served as a trustee of my alma mater; he seemed to be just another right-on liberal opportunist and careerist who did his part to weaken a once-respectable institution.
The appointment also follows a pattern noticed by the folks a LifeSite of the new president surrounding himself with NARAL-approved Catholics.

  29. Scroll wheel Brian. Scroll wheel. As soon at the comment starts getting gibberish, give ‘er a turn or two. Or three or four, in some cases.

  30. well.I have to admit that if you google ‘scandal” with bush and obama’
s names respectively, bush gets half a million hits to obama’s quarter of a million hits…but bush’s scandals are so much more varied and so much more likely to be you know…real….
lying us into war that killed a close personal friend’s of mine? what about torture, the US AG firings, the close oh so close association with several convicted felons involved in bribes to some of his biggest supporters…staying on his fake ranch after condoleeza told him el quada was going to strike inthe summer of 2001…remember abramoff? lots and lots of stuff…do a google search…look for the old stuff like bush’s insider trading at harken his awol from the louisianna/texas national guard thing, his refusal to admit to being busted in texas with a bindle full of swing dust…nice his daddy could get the texas DMV to issue a new driver’s license hey! seriously, we could go on all day long here. scandals on scandals.. man, you guys are a serious bunch of coco puffs!
it’s sort of pointless to actually debate you crazy mother f-ers but it is important to monitor your activities….like I monitor all hate sites. the funny thing is the dudes at http://www.stormfront.com actually make more sense than you f*kups
As the clock winds down on the Bush administration, historians and critics are coming to grips with how little they know about some of the scandals which helped make the president one of the least popular leaders in modern U.S. history….
