Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to SDA Late Nite Radio. Tonight, for your delectation and pursuant to our Twelve Days of Christmas shows and our Christmas Eve 2008 show, here are the Vienna Boys Choir performing Silent Night (1998, 3:14). For tonight's flip side, here is Linus explaining The Meaning of Christmas to Charlie Brown (1:18).
And for tonight's Reading the Classics tip, here is Mr. Benjamin Franklin's Autobiography (1771, 1784–5, & 1788), which is I find a much easier read than wading through Descartes was.
Your Reader Tips are, as always, welcome in the comments.

I recieved an e-mail from Michael Ignatief tonight with the usual holiday greetings. There was a link to his website and on this website I came across this little piece of 'creative history',"Michael has been involved in the Liberal Party for over forty years, starting out by knocking on doors for Lester B. Pearson in 1965 and serving as a delegate and National Youth Coordinator for Pierre Trudeau in 1968." Hmmm,is it only me or did they just gloss over his thirty years outside of Canada?
Here is Mikey's website---http://www.michaelignatieff.ca/en/--- for those who may enjoy it. There is a page where you can 'get involved'. You register and then import your address book to the liberals and they will make sure Michael's message gets out to all your friends. Now,that doesn't seem quite right either.
So apparently terrorism has to be prosecuted and treated as a legal issue, not the violence that it truly is:

It's been suggested before and I'll suggest it again: let's take convicted terrorists/rapists/murderers and have them live in the same neighborhoods as the judges?
No,Bacardi Breezer. Not the same neighbourhood, the same damn HOUSE!
A comment from an earlier post, "What Do You Call A $200 Million Cut To CBC Funding?"
Interesting when put in perspective:
"PS: Go to hell, all you braindead circumcised UberKike/globalist-loving retards whether you call yourself a Con or Lib, you are shit. What a glorious event, the economic crash is! Your corrupt society is going straight down. I hope it keeps you up at night, and Oh yeah Talmud Harper won't save you, neither will Talmud Ignatieff. The plutocracy is going down, and you with lips vapourlocked on it are going down with it! Hallelujah!"

Just a comment on Pamela Wallen.
Too funny hearing the Buzz about her not living in Sask for 29 years.
How long has Iggy lived in the States among those "bastards".(yeah Carolyn Parrish, I remember)
anarchore also has h/s/its own blog dropped in the comments. Unfortunately.

I just wanted to stop by and wish Kate a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and all the folks who post here.
I thought this was a good spot to do that. Maybe not. Maybe so.
In any event this is the spot I chose:
Merry Christmas to All and to All a wonderful Holiday and New Year!
Thankyou for the links to Christmas music Vitruvius, the Vienna choir is beautiful. May I take this oppertunity to wish all commenters
posters and our wonderful hostess, Kate; here at my vitual haven, a very Merry Christmas. God Bless you, one and all.
This sounds like a great couple of days to rest from commenting all that is going on out there and reflect on the true reason we are celebrating this festive occasion.

Thanks for a lot of great knowledge and topical insights in the past year. All the best in the New Year and have the merriest of Christmases especially to you, Kate, for all your hard work in making this the best blog in Canada.
merry christmas and a very good newyear to Kate and all who post. hear May all who you love be safe and well!
me 2 . . . Merry Christmas to Kate and all the regulars from a very snowy & tres blanche Vancouver.
No traveling this year - the mountain passes are in really rough shape and the Fraser Valley forecast is for 50cm more snow followed by freezing rain. It is a mess, beautiful, but a mess.
So its home for Christmas, turkey in the oven, entertain the cats with wrapping paper piles, family & friends and time to ponder the great fortune to have been born in Canada in this time.
Merry Christmas everyone, all the best for next year.
Merry Christmasto all. A specialone to Kate. I for one always appreciate your dedication. To Vit and his musical lore, thank you.

Snowfall Warning for Owen Sound/Grey/Bruce then turning to Rain & strong winds, So have a safe & carefull drive home.
The Festival of Northern Lights have had a great turnout this year, total numbers not in yet for tour buses but organizers expect to exceed last years numbers well in the hundreds, if you are close to Owen Sound or a few hours drive it is a worthwhile display of Christmas Lights Very Impressive. The Owen Sound OHL Attack are off till the the 27th hope they continue their winning ways in the new year.
Merry Christmas to All
I'll pipe up too.
To Kate and her loyal SDA friends, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas full of happiness and joy! To all of our friends who are either secularly-inclined or of different faiths, I wish you happiness and joy!
Happy Channukah, Merry Christmas, Happy Hogmanay, and a Happy New Year to all.
Spengler, Waking from Lever-Lever Land
The United States lived in Lever-Lever Land too long. Like Peter Pan, the country has refused to grow up. The object of the stimulus plans offered by the present and the next US administrations is to return to Lever-Lever Land, that is, to debt-financed consumption. It won't work. Leverage is for the young, who borrow to build homes and start businesses. The financial crisis forces Americans to act their age, that is, to save rather than borrow and spend.
For a world economy geared to servicing the once-insatiable maw of American consumption, that is very bad news for 2009...
Merry Christmas to all who comment here. This is my first stop of the day, every day, and is frequently revisited throughout the day. Thanks to this site, and Blogging Tories, I'm more up-to-date on news events than even the most religious of daily News-watchers (my Mother).
Thank you for the gifts you give us every day, Kate, on this marvelous blog. May you have a blessed, and WARM, Christmas, and a very Happy New Year.
"Iran's president to deliver Christmas message on British TV"
LONDON (AFP) — Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will deliver an alternative Christmas message on British television to rival Queen Elizabeth II's annual address, broadcaster Channel Four said Wednesday.
Ahmadinejad will give a brief speech which will go out on 1915 GMT on Christmas Day.
A Channel Four spokesman said the message is a spiritual one and includes Ahmadinejad's wishes for seasonal goodwill.
Channel Four has invited a figure in the news to deliver an alternative Christmas message to the queen's annual broadcast every year since 1993 but Ahmadinejad is the most high-profile guest yet.
The channel's head of news and current affairs Dorothy Byrne said: "As the leader of one of the most powerful states in the Middle East, President Ahmadinejad's views are enormously influential.
"As we approach a critical time in international relations, we are offering our viewers an insight into an alternative world view."

"Symptoms of Offended Muslim Syndrome (OMS)"
Irritability, agitation, anxiety at the sight of women who are not fully covered
Prolonged rage or unexplained killing sprees
Significant changes in immigration patterns
Brooding about the past glory of the Caliphate
Decreased effectiveness and minimal work productivity
Difficulty in understanding new information without a trial lawyer
Feelings of despair or hopelessness about the existence of Israel
Recurring thoughts of death to the infidels
In order to guard against OMS, health officials warn individuals who are at risk to make sure that the objective reality they are exposed to does not:
Make them aware of the outside world
Trigger curiosity about the Western notions of "logic" or "rationality"
Make life more enjoyable
Cause them to question the need for martyrdom
Have side effects such as independent thinking and longing to live as a productive individual
Create an illusion that communication with infidels is possible without hostage-taking

"‘Giordano Bruno’"
February 17 marks a peculiarly Roman holiday whose ritual centers on the bronze statue of a hooded friar. Just over life size, clutching a book in manacled hands, he glowers over the marketplace of Campo de' Fiori, the "Field of Flowers" that was also, for many years, one of the city's execution grounds. The statue was meant to point in the opposite direction, facing the sun, but a last-minute decision by the City Council of Rome in 1889 turned it around to face the Vatican, which had complained that the original placement was disrespectful. Because of this change in position, the friar's face is always shadowed, so that he looks more melancholy than defiant. But then, he is a man condemned to die by burning at the stake; he has every reason to be melancholy."

Merry Christmas all!
I'll be in the tower over night for the last remnants of the Christmas air traffic, so spare a thought and raise a glass for those working over the holidays. I'll be home for Christmas, just a little later than some. Others won't be that lucky.
Secret trials and secret outcomes about secret behavior - within our secret police society. I'd say that cops are here supposedly to assist the population - but that's a pretty well kept secret...especially in the corrupt and politicized RCMP....
SASKATOON -- Three Saskatoon police officers have been disciplined for inappropriate behaviour at work.
One officer has been demoted, one suspended without pay for one month, and the other suspended without pay for one week.
Police spokesman Alyson Edwards said an internal investigation was ordered into the conduct of a total of six officers - five men and one woman. The investigation of the three other officers continues. Edwards said the inappropriate behaviour went on for several months this past year.
She said it was not a criminal act or sexual harassment.

In Vancouver and Victoria, where we're being dumped on (snow-wise) like crazy, one has to wonder if the faith of even the most devout Lefties is being challenged?
If this keeps up perhaps they will soon be trading in their "Global Warming Will Destroy Us All" bumper stickers for some new ones:
"Al Gore is a Big, Fat Idiot!!!"
Wishing our hostess Kate and all here a blessed and joyous Christmas.

felis c., I love to sing along: thanks!
Is there a web site to get the sing along scores? I happened across Victoria's "O Magnum Mysterium" the other day at First Things, but I'd like to know if I can access the sing-alongs consistently. Any info. would be appreciated.
Merry Christmas!
...oh no! Say it ain't so.

"Is there a web site to get the sing along scores?"
lookout,
I just go to google or yahoo or youtube and type in the name of the piece I am looking for. Sometimes I get lucky and find scores along with the music, sometimes not. Maybe there is a website repository I can look for when I'm not hanging around here.
Here's another example from youtube. I know Rutter can be a little too slick sometimes, but this one is nice.

I also noticed a version of "He shall purify..." when I was looking for the last one I posted.
Merry Christmas.
To Kate & the SDA regulars & irregulars - both those with whom I usually agree and especially those with whom I heartily disagree - Merry Christmas! I wish you and yours all the best this Christmas, and good fortune in 2009.
Be well, everyone.
