A poignant reminder that our soldiers are us. They are ordinary Canadian men and women from ordinary backgrounds and this grass-roots tribute demonstrates that like nothing else could. Thank you to the people who live along that corridor of Highway 401 for doing what so many of us elsewhere have no opportnity to do.
If you live in Ottawa, where I do, you can visit the National Military portion of Beechwood Cemetery where several of our Afghan war dead are buried. Their graves have the same simple slab markers as the graves of tens of thousands of their brothers in arms who lie in the soil of Europe. Instead of the maple leaf, though, each marker bears a regimental or service branch isignia.
Sadly, since that report aired, the number of Afghan war dead has reached 103.
MSNBC used a Clip from the "NBC Network News Anchor". Although they, NBC, are normally known for respectful & diligent hard news, today's Journalists are like Chamillion lizards. I would guess the dirt bags at MSNBC are celebrating with Smirking Katie (CBS) and Chuckles (Meet the Press) and making heady arrangements for JAN 19th (Gores Show) and Jan 20th.
At least someone will know where they will be!!!
Sad that when we have a military funeral all the Hair Balls get the Press. That changes when the Dem's are in power...watch the flip
This was a VERY touching video clip. But lets not give MSNBC the credit because they probably did it , not to show the repect many of our citizens have for those fallen military heros, but rather to show how bad the Americans are for NOT doingit.
Moving piece. It goes to show the respect we have for those who fight in our name and the sympathy we have for their families. There are things worth dying for. Merry Christmas.
Cant SOME of you guys just apperciate the story!!!
It seems like SOME of you are not happy unless you are complaining. Doesnt that just drain you eventually.
If the MSM doesnt cover the story you bitch, if they do, you bitch, enough already you ungrateful windbags.
I wanted to read some repectful comments, as I had tears in my eyes, and I read this crap.
Just take the emotion and the respect shown in the clip and shut the hell up!!! I guess I am just as guilty of it now but I just couldn't ignore it this time.
Why this blog? Until this moment
I have been forced
to listen while media
and politicians alike
have told me
"what Canadians think".
In all that time they
never once asked.
This is just the voice
of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I can't answer or use every
tip, but all are
appreciated!

That was very touching. And I can't believe that MSNBC did it. The MSM gets a story right, without an agenda. Maybe there is hope...
