I don't understand why Europeans can't see how rapidly and ruthlessly the EU has moved to take over political power.

Everything I have read about the impact of the EU is negative and disturbing. It's hard to tell if it morph into Orwell's Oceanea where England was supposedly located in "1984", or more likely Orwell' Eurasia based on current political trends. Either way European is turning into a soft totalitarian state.

That's actually eerie. What's on display in the video is something that everyone on the left has in common: their collectivist political goals require that others will have to follow their orders. They always couch it in different terms than than -- social justice, "the people," etc -- but the fact is that in their political theatre they are interpersonally fascistic as a direct result of their political beliefs. Ultimately, they are opposed to democracy.

I was surprised to see Sarkozy blaming Klaus for the meeting in which EU delegates visited his castle in the Czech Republic, where the Czech parliament has not ratified the Lisbon treaty, thrust an EU flag on his desk, and then proceeded to browbeat him for not flying the flag along with the Czech flag outside the castle: "Presidents of political groups of the European Parliament shouldn't be treated this way...neither should the symbols of Europe, regardless of where you come from or your political beliefs."

Think about that for a second -- you will fly this collectivist flag on your official residence, out of respect for the primacy of the collective, and you will do so "regardless of your political beliefs."

Notice how German Socialist Martin Schultz uses a tactic we are familiar with, through the Liberal Party of Canada, namely that of attempting to divert criticism of their own behaviour, by attacking, in a self-righteous tone, those who get in the way of the priestly tribe by noticing and making public such behaviour:

"At both discussions, it was not made clear to us that this would be recorded. We assumed it would be confidential, as was the case at the Elysee, the Conference of President's meeting with Mr Sarkozy was behind closed doors. The contents of these meetings, unbeknown to us, ended in the Czech press. Now I don't know what sort of system this would fit into, it certainly forms no part of a democratic state under the rule of law."

Sound familiar? Democracy means the little people don't actually get to know what's being planned for them or the manner in which such actions are taken; a priestly tribe will elbow aside democracy to get what they want, on behalf of all people, of course. An Irish MEP at the meeting of the thugs in Prague said Klaus had insulted the people of Ireland, because "the Irish people wish for the Lisbon treaty." But he and everyone in the room knew that the Irish people had recently voted against the EU constitution in a referendum. No wonder the EU types are outraged that what happened at the "meeting" got out to the public.

What most North Americans forget when thinking about old Europe is that the USA and Canada have a much longer tradition of democracy than most of Europe. Other than Britain and Switzerland most European countries have only had democracies since after the second world war. The citizens there are comfortable with dictators and rule by elites - its in their DNA. The EU is just getting them back to what they are most comfortable with, kind of like the women who keeps returning to a husband that beats her.

Could anyone blame a Canadian Veteran, if he were to pick up the phone and say to Sarkozy; "Next time, you and your ilk can kiss my ass."

Socialism has alway been about power. To those on the left, true soveriegnty of the people is a totally foreign concept; yet socialists always claim they are for the "people" and "democracy".

Anyone who hasn't figured out this garbage probably hasn't also clued in about the crap perpetrated by the left. For example, the most brutish and repressive regimes have official names that include the words "Peoples", "Democratic" and "Republic" in them. Don't be shocked if we go from once being the "Dominion of Canada" to "la République des peuples démocratiques' du Canada".

Is it what they deserve at the moment ron? Yeah.

Would we actually let it happen? Probably not.

I'm surprised by Sarkozy's stance. I thought much more highly of him. However, I think context is important in this situation. More research is needed(for me personally).

The Czechs are a nice, reserved group of people. It takes a while to become good friends with them. It doesn't mean they hate everyone else. Far from it. They just need time to warm up to other people.

The Czechs do remember 1968 and 1989. They remember the Russians who were not so nice to them. They are not about to fall into Putin's sphere of influence directly or indirectly.

When I think of Vaclav Klaus, I don't think he is anti-European or anti-EU. There are good things about the EU such as no formal border checks between several of the EU countries and a common Euro currency does have positive implications for trade and price comparisons. I think he doesn't like this bureaucratic EU which is undemocratic and bloated at the same time. Why should his country transfer power to an bureaucracy that is not directly accountable to the people? Imagine having a bureaucracy in Ottawa that is weakly accountable to the provinces with a weak advisory parliament. The bureaucracy would eventually become a government within itself and dictate people's lives.

Okay, now I'm ill. Sarkozy and Co are sick. But thanks be to God for Farage.

It' like watching the dominoes fall. Only faster and faster as they approach the last one.

First, the largest transfer of wealth in the history of the world through oil.

Second, mass immigration for no rational and honest reason.

Third, the advent and eventual control by the European Union, ends democracy and opposition in that part of the world.

Fourth, the same happens in North America, largely as a cure to current and protracted economic problems and in order to compete with the EU.

Fourth, the rise of the UN to real global governance.

We'll probably see it all in our lifetimes, as it appears currently to be a mad dash to the finish line.

China is looking to be the future bastion of freedom, liberty and democracy. And common sense.

It seems that communism simply went underground in 1989. The fascistic thinking and will to power just slipped—or, rather, ploughed—sideways: it’s frightening to consider the number of places, once considered free and democratic, where the socialist bullies are raising their ugly and dangerous “crowned” heads.

In the US: King Barak and Queen Caroline (Charles Krauthammer discusses this in today’s National Post, “Sorry My Lady, This is a Republic”); here, in Canada, I’m not making this up, Prince Michael and his cronies in the coalition; and, across the pond, this sorry debacle in the EU.

Thank God for people like Nigel Farage. And it seems that Canadians are beginning to wake up to the very serious threat to our freedoms, and peace, order, and good government posed by the skulduggery of our very own fascists, the Liberals, the NDP, and the Bloc, who have now played their treachery card very publicly.

The hour is late, and the enemy has nearly taken the citadel, but maybe, with the truth beginning to be exposed—thank God for the internet—we’ll once again have the spirit and guts to fight for our freedoms.

That Mr. Shultz is one scary guy--and, unfortunately, it seems, he's not the only scary guy in the EU.

Two things struck me about his presentation:

First, he didn't initially deny what Mr. Farage reported he'd said in Czechoslovakia. He simply whined that what he'd said hadn't been protected "in camera." What he said, in other words, had got out and he wasn't very happy that "the great unwashed" had heard his opinion. He was chagrined and angry that he'd got caught.

Second, when he DID deny he'd said that people who voted "No" were fascistic, he could not be persuaded of the truth of this by Mr. Farage's reading, word-for-word, what he had said. He continued to deny what he very clearly had articulated.

Everything in Schulz's presentation bespoke a bully. Bravo, Mr. Farage!

The Germans are scary at home as well. They keep very tight control over what their citizens 'learn', and homeschooling is illegal. Everyone must be taught the gov't perspective. This concept, of the state having primary (or sole) responsibility for educating children - as opposed to the parents, even in opposition to the parents, is something that is increasing around the world. Even in Canada.

You would think that Europe had forgotten to teach any history in the last 20 years, the way citizens sit back and allow their gov't to take over one freedom/responsibility after another.

It will not end well. Klaus is absolutely right in calling the EU 'post-democracy'.

The Lisbon Treaty is a tool to allow the fascists control. It is important that the right oppose this, to support individual liberty and human rights. Better a government modified by the people than a people modified by the government.
