  1. Never underestimate an ignorant electorate.
O/T Kate: As per my e-mail to you, it appears the NDP ad is no longer being displayed on Drudge’s website. However, it may appear again if Drudge’s ads run in a ‘loop’.

  2. Lest we Canucks smirk too much at them dumb Yanks, the very same thing can and is found here in dear old Canada. Just had a conversation with a colleague who thought that, all politicians were the same, Harper is a Bush plant and Dijon seems like an honest guy. I guess issues and policies don’t count.
btw, this colleague is a phd and yet he is still a sheeple to the MSM spin.

  3. Speaking of ignorance, I wonder how many Stearn fans didn’t notice he’s ripping off Jay Leno’s “Jaywalking”?
I think stearn is a vile, putrid human being, but this is a pretty good skit.

  4. I have Sirius, so I heard this live. What I would like to get, and haven’t been able to find, is the video from CBC Newsworld’s Canada Votes show last night when they had Psychic Margot on with her election predictions. It was hilarious to hear Psychic Margot go on about how ‘there is a party that is very angry, and they are in power now…’
It is interesting what lengths the CBC will go to in order to slag the Conservatives.

  5. Trent…you have to be kidding, did the CBC actually run something as pathetic as that?If so ,their desperation has hit a new low,not easily done I might add.

  6. Don’t laugh folks, we’ve got a whole lot of the same here judging by the polls and the volatility of the electorate on the least little perceived gaffe by the present government, we stand to lose BIG.
It may be exactly what we need to clear the stupidity, elect it, a Leftist quagmire.

  7. Ignorant sheeple? You got that right. I mean, what kind of an idiot would approve of Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential running mate?

  8. The Left worry about the minutia, the insignificant, the tertiary, and elevate them to the front burner. How did Canada become a great nation without having previously allowed gays to marry? Aren’t great, just societies built on the deaths of 3 million babies? However could we have built the world’s 3rd largest navy at one time without universal daycare?
They just don’t understand. They take for granted that all the basics, the hard stuff, the things that have to be done will somehow just get done. They fritter away time and energy and money and oxygen dealing with things which do not matter in the grand scheme of things. It’s like 13 year-olds have been put in charge of the house. They see a big bank account, and just want to spent it on toys and candy. They don’t know you have to pay the mortgage, RRSPs, electric bill, gas bill, food, property taxes, water bill, fix the hot water tank, change the furnace filter, mow the lawn, paint the house, etc. The last decision is “which DVD to rent tonight”, not the first.

  9. Bravo Grok, very true. Tell me just how many people actually ask where the money promised them by left politicians is going to come from.

  10. Wow, the electorate is uninformed. Shock, surprise!
Of course they are uninformed for crap sakes, the MSM is going full out to keep them that way. TV shows, newscasts, papers, books, movies, its all one big, gigantic propaganda campaign.
Tell you what, apart from “health care is a right” I couldn’t name one single Obama policy. He hasn’t said what he’s actually going to do.
Besides which, you show me a black guy in NYC who’s willing to say to a reporter that he’s NOT voting for Obama, I’ll show you one brave SOB.

  11. btw, this colleague is a phd and yet he is still a sheeple to the MSM spin.

I used to own an auto detail shop, you find out that bullsh!t baffles brains real quick in that business, and they don’t all have PHDs, some have only Masters :-)))))))

  12. “what kind of an idiot would approve of Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential running mate?” Manny would if Palin were running mate with Obama.

  13. is there nothing Obama cant do.
with the collapse of the stock market he can say that he repopulated the middle class. good job Barry!!!

  14. “what kind of an idiot would approve of Sarah Palin as a Vice Presidential running mate?”
An idiot who is smarter than the idiot who approves of Barack Obama.

  15. I put as much faith in the “journalistic” ethics of Howard Stern as I do the CBC and the rest of the MSM scum.
Everytime someone runs a bit like this I am left wondering how many interviews they had to go through to get the ones they wanted.
    Sounds very Micheal Moore ish.

  16. Oh good lord! As much as I loathe Stern, he showed just how wonderfully uninformed the left voters are. Lets just hope that they stick to their trends and stay home on election day.
(Educated women for McCain and Palin!)

  17. Following up on Grok’s comment, the left take economic growth and prosperity for granted. They think it just happens, and will continue to happen even with a government that is disdainful of business. This is why they feel free to focus on the small stuff, like insuring that Human Rights Commissions have a proper framework in orde to insure that nobody has any hurt feelings.

  18. Jonathan Kay, National Post, 10/14/08:
“With both McCain and Obama doing their best to pander to middle-class voters amidst the fallout of Wall Street’s crash, the ideological stakes have vanished, or at least gotten very tiny, in the U. S. presidential election. And so I am inclined simply to pick the guy who is best placed to restore America’s political capital in the community of nations. As every available survey of international opinion overwhelmingly demonstrates, that man is Barack Obama…
“Obviously, a lot of this is tied up with George W. Bush, but his disastrous presidency has also tarnished the Republican brand. It’s unfair that John McCain has to pay for that legacy but he does.
“Finally, there’s Sarah Palin. I’ll admit that I was a fan when she was first named to the Republican ticket. She was funny and down to earth, and she gave a great speech at the GOP convention. Even when it was clear she was overmatched in her debate with Biden, I still stuck with her — because I saw her on her own terms: as a stick in the craw of smug, secular, big-city liberal elites.
“But then I realized that this was the only reason I liked her. After a few weeks, I began to focus on the idea of her as a (potential) U. S. Commander-in-Chief. On the crucial question of whether I would actually want this woman to be running the most powerful nation on earth, I really couldn’t, in my heart, answer yes.
“I suspect that many conservatives who profess to believe that Palin would make a great leader have secretly come around to the same view as me — but their tribal political reflex won’t let them admit as much.
“That’s an understandable gut reaction. But voting should be done with the head, not the belly. Count me among the millions of self-described right-wingers rooting — this time–for the guy on the left.”

  19. h.ryan,
Yes, the CBC is desperate enough to enlist Psychic Margot to slander the Conservative Party of Canada.
If anyone knows how to access the video for last nights Canada Votes on Newsworld, I would hope that the clip of Psychic Margot gets post here.
I can’t seem to find the clip myself, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

  20. Howard is definatly the LCD of talk radio but has some very funny stuff, I haven’t listened since he moved to satellite radio.
He was kicked off Canadian radio stations because he treated homosexuals the same way he treated everyone else on his show, equally.
“Free Speech” in Canada only applies if your talking about Jews, Porn Stars or the “Religious Right”.
Or so it seems to me.

  21. Don’t forget that half the population is below average.
Which is a scary thought, especially in democracies.

  22. It demonstrates the dirty little secret that guilty-white-boy lefty pc forbids uttering, blacks are much more racist than whites. They will vote 99% race without much interest in content in this election. Obama could be a drain dead cartoon(my opinion) and he wins without any substance on the issues with blacks. Anyone that hasn’t noticed this lives a very sheltered life. I’ve worked in enough workplaces to see black racism in action.

  23. DP wrote, “Speaking of ignorance, I wonder how many Stearn fans didn’t notice he’s ripping off Jay Leno’s “Jaywalking”?
I think stearn is a vile, putrid human being, but this is a pretty good skit. ”
You have it wrong dp, Stern was doing that stuff long before jay leno was a host of the tonight show.

  24. The Left worry about the minutia, the insignificant,
I agree. In high school English
Besides which, you show me a black guy in NYC who’s willing to say to a reporter that he’s NOT voting for Obama, I’ll show you one brave SOB.
    Phantom
Very true. I watch BET regularly, and during the last US election Cousin Jeff the “political expert” on BET said ” Any black person who votes for the Republicans is a sell-out to their race”. This one statement has sat wrong with me ever since. I’m not black and I’m not American, but I felt this was one of the most irresponsible statements I’ve heard. I suspect most people watching BET are in the youth demo, I was when he said it, and I think the amount of weight given to a statement like that is unmeasurable.
Publically stating your voting or voted Republican instantly results in confiscation of your ghetto pass. The black community needs its leaders (ie Jay -z, Ocho Cinco, and the P.Diddy’s) to stand up and explain the importace to the black community of having a choice. This philosophy IMO will hurt the black community in the long run.

  25. Just goes to prove that approx 2/3 of the population shouldn’t be allowed to vote. I confess that 2/3 might be a low ball estimate!

  26. Folks it’s worse than you think. The Dions of the world think that prosperity is a result of social programs, not a trade off at all.
Dion’s comment during campaign was telling, when he criticized Mr Harper for not understanding the role of government in a crisis, which in Dion’s world means massive intervention.
In Layton’s world none of this matters; he simply hates capitalism, which he believes unfairly enriches corporate owners (apparently including small business), so it has to be put down to ensure prosperity.
Bill Gairdner (“The Trouble with Canada”) called the actions resulting from this attitude, “transactions of decline.”
The Canadian left today doesn’t understand that you forgo private output (resulting in lost jobs and output) to help those who are hurting (compassion), but your society cannot be defined by them, nor can they dominate your thinking and treasury. That is their major error, which they refuse to acknowledge.

  27. Back when Ontario still had OHIP premiums, rather than a Health Care Tax (hidden to all but employers), we hired a twenty something girl from out of province. Our company paid 1/2 the premium and the employee paid the other half. This young woman was irate and disgusted that in ‘rich’ Ontario, people still had to pay for health care. I asked her who she thought paid for it in her home province, “Why, of course, the government pays! Nobody back home has to pay a cent!”
A little while later we hired a thirty something, hardworking and seemingly bright woman to work in sales. One day I noticed that the price we were charging to a large customer for an item in our inventory was less than our cost. When I pointed this out to her, she responded, “That’s OK they buy a lot of them.”
I’ve got a hundred more but those are my two favourites.
Never underestimate the ability of the Canadian public to misunderstand what anything costs, especially in relation to ‘nice-sounding’ government programs, if they aren’t actually removing the money directly out of their own pockets, purses or bank accounts.

  28. By the way dp. Stern was doing interviews on the street like this 20 years ago. Leno the scumbag is constantly ripping off Howard.

  29. Hey Kate
Rafael at “Trapped in Suburbia” has an election result page that updates every 90 seconds.
Might help to keep the EC servers from bogging down.

  30. What Stern demonstrated is that there needs to be a qualification test before someone is allowed to vote. If you have no idea who the players in the election are, or the basics of their platforms, you’re no more useful to democracy than a poo flinging monkey.
If you can’t be bothered to learn about government, why should you get a say in its makeup?

  31. I don’t think it gets much scarier than this. This mindset is going to determine who will be the most powerful man in the world???
I think the McCain-Palin ticket should find a way to leverage this stuff this mindset – I think is is a big part of Obamas “surge” in the polls.
So we have educated young professional whites and uneducated politically oblivious blacks all bowing towards an idealist mecca of change – God help us all!!!
    .

  32. First, I would like to say I fully agree with Shamrock @8:17 p.m.
But what I really wanted to say is, if you think back to the last couple months and all the flak about a few arts supports being cut with the term “censorship” being flung around, here is a REAL instance of censorship: the banning of Howard Stern from Canadian airwaves by government fiat. Whether you like him or not (I’ve never listened, but I gather it’s all pretty juvenile), the fact is he has a right to be on the air here.
“Freedom of the press and other media of communication”. The Charter of Rights is full of errors that need fixing, but this part is correct; the problem is it is not being respected.

  33. One addition to the post I just made: Canadians have the right to listen to Howard Stern’s show.

  35. Mr “conservative for Obama”
You will be “back” in about six months.
sarge, I can’t wait until hate mongers like yourself are in charge. It is amazing how quickly the left pulls the image or threat of rape out as a weapon against any dissenting woman.

Penetrating comment, manny. Hey, speaking of idiots, let’s play a game! I’ll count the number of gaffes made by Sarah Palin during this election campaign, and you count those by joe biden. Then we can compare notes.
“Stand up, Chuck, and let ’em see ya… OH MY GOD…”
Take your time, manny; I won’t expect to hear from you soon. And don’t let anything as trivial as facts or reality impede your thinking; it’s more fun to read your comments as-is.
