Much Ado About May

And Dion, over at Bourque tonight.

Add to that comments from one of Canada’s top media personalities, who told Bourque tonight, “if I were a member of the Greens, if i were a candidate for the Greens, I would see her as a traitor, how could i possibly think of her as someone who wants to grow the Greens. She is simply behaving as an agent for the liberals”.

Pierre’s commentary has been expanding in detail all day. Make of it what you will.
I will say that I’ve noticed an uncharacteristic silence in recent hours from certain quarters.

  1. Now Kate, those “quarters” or should I say name wouldn’t have the initials “Warren Kinsella”, would it? OH, sorry. I meant “WK”. Damned keyboard!!!

  2. No, not him. I’d have to read his stuff to know if he’s being silent or not.
But the burning question is this – will Daisy Group sponsored National Newswatch link Bourque, or just observe the information in the denials?

  3. Wednesday morning Dion will be back in the land of fairies, lollipops and unicorns, staring out the window with a blank look on his face while mumbling something that only he can hear.
May will probably stow away on that WWF world tour that Bourque linked to.

  4. Hey Lloyd, hope that last name isn’t one your buddies plunked on you, you being a lieberal and all. By the way, Bourque has done more than his share of lieberal sliming of Harper in the past 3 years, do some research. Hard for you Steffi plants to grapple with what is going on and all isn’t it. What with dizzy Lizzy mating with your hero Steffi you might in years to come have a candidate that can speak an incoherant language at a high rate of speed while felling a tree with those buckies.

  5. I have no idea where Lizzie May could get the idea that someone’s party loyalty is for sale.

  6. My mom picked up the phone on the Dryden auto-phoning today too. She hung up on it and commented about our MP Boris must be in trouble if he needed Ken’s help.

  7. I can only laugh but really what these two are doing is beyond being any secret or funny and frankly crosses the line.
All this “strategic voting” in any other country would be called “cheating” or even “election fraud”. If this was the Conservatives and the Reform parties the Liberals and NDP would be beside themselves.

  8. blanks…that wouldn’t have happenned…when Reform was at it’s prime(93) it didn’t need PC(note the difference) and PC was too far left, or Reform was right…depending on your POV.
    But I get your point….

  9. May had the chance to get her party taken seriously for the first time and she threw it away. I sort of feel sorry for the Green party volunteers

  10. I always wondered what made Hezb’Allah hattie think she was qualified to be the leader of a political party. Now I know. No scruples.

  11. If this is all true as it appears to be, May should be run out of Dodge by the Green Party with a one way ticket never to be heard from again (one would hope).
I was involved in elections during the Alliance days and if something like this happened I would be pissed and my support would be gone forever. It’s a distinct lack of class on May and the Dion camp. I’m sure there are some good people in the Green and the Liberal Parties who are embarrassed over this.

  12. Why the hell didn’t she just run for the Liberals instead? What an egotistical drama queen!

  13. Elizabeth May – backroom deals, manipulation, lying to her own members, taking money from Green supporters under false pretenses, ….you know, Politics as usual.
Same old – same old as May herself says.
Oh – but her and Dion’s smug self rightiousness is probably the most cynical and hypocritical of all don’t you think?

  14. Check Liz Mays BIO, especially her Parents!
BTW: At the English debate she made a strange statement to the moderator when asked what she would do if elected “Come finish the roof on your shed”. Was that code for thanks for the rehearsal, and or do Canadian sheds have a sexual context.

  15. Hey Belinda….is that you Garth? We miss a portion of you in some camps. Kicking up your heels in Calgary PROPERLY AND OFFICIALLY joining 2 parties not being slime bucket, behind the scenes, last minute desperados. We miss that CONSERVATIVE morality that you had and were proud of but okay, you do not miss us. Over it!
This is mind-flipping-boggling. In Calgary, we actually have some super Greenie’s that do NOT SUPPORT the LIBS. I am offended on their behalf but not surprised. She is a master manipulator and a SCAM artis….oh there is that word again..SCAM!!

  16. A crisis of self-esteem is not a good thing for a party leader to have … although it seems entirely appropriate.

  17. *
here’s the real ‘kiss of death’ on that strategic voting
    thing… cherniak thinks it’s the cat’s pyjamas.

  18. To hell with Lizzy May and to hell with the Greens. If they wanted to be a legitimate political force within Canada, then that’s fine. They fought to get into the debate. They fought to gain some traction of political credibility.
But, the moment they asked their supporters to compromise their values and vote for another political party they lost any shred of respect I had for them.
F**k the greens. And, when the next election rolls around, they should be banned from any televised debate. What a joke they’ve turned out to be.

    Exactly blue.
The Reform Party was a political entity based on clearly established conservative principles. It wouldn’t even have been entertained by anyone, at anytime, within the Reform organization to recommend Reform voters (in closely contested ridings) vote PC to avoid a Liberal win.
Funny thing about principles: they tend to provide a nice moral compass for folks to follow. A shame the greens appear to have discarded their moral compass for little more than political schadenfreude.

  20. My riding is Vancouver Island North. The Green Party candidate at our all-candidates’ meeting said that the Green Party would not be encouraging strategic voting.
Looks to me as though Elizabeth May and Stephane Dion are out for *themselves.*

  21. And this is why we aren’t voting GPC. St. Liz can take her ego a f@ck off. Jim Harris needs to take another urn at the party leadership.

  22. The Red Greenies party will lose a buck seventy-five for every vote they cast for the other two lefty parties, coming up a tad short, not only in cash for any future election but particularly in believability, all the while Lizzie eyeing a Dion Senate seat!!
    Good grief!

  23. I find it interesting as the Lieberal party looks forward to its final death throes, how people like May, Rae, Hargrove, etc are brought forward to help in the “last stand”.
Reminds me of the old structure where every “independent” and “non government” organization in the USSR or its front groups abroad had a secret member of the KGB/Communist Party running or controlling it.

  24. May just doomed the Greens to wander the wilderness for a bit. If she is still leader at the next election the other parties have a strong argument for preventing her from being in the debates.
Harper’s comment was true, she is a stalking horse for the Liberal party, the NDP might just show some backbone as well.
Prediction, Lizzie will apologize and break down and cry publically over it, claim the environment made her do it because HArper is the snake in the garden of eden. As she finishes her seminary studies.

  25. Oh – but her and Dion’s smug self rightiousness is probably the most cynical and hypocritical of all don’t you think?

Indeed, I read this morning that Steffi is calling May “courageous” for her call for strategic voting. Of course, were it a right-wing party calling for strategic voting, I’m quite certain Dion would condemn such tactics as dangerous, and desperate.
Got to love the malleable ethics of the left. Whatever feels good and/or fits the situation at any given time is fair game.

  26. Lizzy May is an American that has injected herself into Canadian politics because she wouldnt have a hope at home. Her wealth comes from a trust that was made either from WHALE hunting or BIG oil which are the same, just different times.

  27. CJ: “And, when the next election rolls around, they should be banned from any televised debate. What a joke they’ve turned out to be.”
Some of us clairvoyants have known this all along. Why doesn’t anyone listen to us?
It’s getting near time for Canadian elections to have international monitors: ‘too much crossing the line going on which must be bordering on the illegal. What we’ve come to expect from the Liberals/Lieberals/Librano$ and, now, the Greens under Chairman Mao…er… I mean, May.

  28. Ms. May has accomplished at least two things: she’s signalled she doesn’t think Green will win any seats; and she has driven down potential Green party turnout.
I heard her say she thought she had a chance in Peter (and Elmer) McKay’s riding, saying it was within (her) statistical error of a Green win. Wow, a 15% margin of error.
So many people think highly of her, but I don’t see it (BTW, the insults about her appearance are really childish).
Her policies are paper thin, she is of elitist ilk, and personifies the rude left who think they have a right to cajole, interrupt and insult those with whom they disagree.
PM Harper made the best call of all on her when he remarked she would likely support the Liberals by election day.
I sincerely hope the Bourque plant is wrong, that May was not offered cabinet or Senate enticements. I don’t believe it because it would be insurmountbly stupid, and no credible evidence has been presented.

  29. Lizzy has gnawed and jabbered the Green party to it’s death. It’s adherents will morph into Liberals which was Lizzy’s plan all along. Who in their right mind would expect them to elect even on MP let alone have party status in the HOC?
Knowing what she’s up to now, doing what she said she would not do, throw support to the Liberals in the end game, who would think about voting for either Red or Green given the desperate mess they’re in?

  30. Further to my previous posting, “My riding is Vancouver Island North. The Green Party candidate at our all-candidates’ meeting said that the Green Party would not be encouraging strategic voting.”
The Green Party candidate ALSO said that Elizabeth May had been “misquoted” by the media in regard to her encouragement of strategic voting.
Elizabeth May should try to keep her story straight. Dion is out there on the campaign trail, calling PM Harper a liar. The LIAR is Elizabeth May.

  31. Some of us clairvoyants have known this all along. Why doesn’t anyone listen to us?

Well, it certainly comes as no surprise to me. For the record, I was against the inclusion of the Greens in the debates. Under no reasonable measure was their inclusion justified.

  32. Lizzie May is just one more fruit cake on the fringes of the looney left. The Greens have established themselves as a legitimate political party in Europe but Lizzie the loser has set them back at least 25 years in North America. Can you imagine a government with DeYawn as Prime Minister,Bob Rae as Minister of Finance and Lizzie May as Minister of the Environment,God help our country should that ever happen.

  33. fyi:
the bourque link tripped an alarm from my spyware doctor. ‘clickserve.cc’ something-or-other
    thanks there kate !

  34. Im going to vote green for a number of reasons.
I like how Canuckistan with 10% of the US population averages 2 times as many political parties. plus carved-in-granite reasons not to vote lib, ndp.
if the popular vote for green slides so much as 1/100th of 1% I will blame bigmouth lizzie borden and NEVER vote green again. besides, might not even see them on the ballot after a couple more rounds with her quadruplespeak so widely noted.
