  1. I think this time around he’s sucking wind. I guess we’ll see how smart he is outside of his field of expertise, oil and gas. With the capital maintance and replacement costs I have my doubts it will be anything but a Don Quixote misadventure. Will he make money, yep, he will sell it to the state and they will support it and loose money.

  2. Sounds like T. Bone’s trying to raid the California treasury.
Several years ago I had a Dodge cargo van that ran on natural gas, huge tanks-extra weight, long time to fill up, few places to buy it, hard starting in the cold, and a large power loss.
Unless the technology has improved a lot I’d never run another CNG vehicle.

  3. He has vast land positions for companies wanting to get in on the wind play. First he has to create the hype to get the interest generated. Next, he’ll sell off a piece per company, retaining a royalty or interest with no capital investment on his part.
    Result = mega profit.
Been around that block for 18 years as a former stockbroker. He will make a killing and the upside will do little on the energy requirement front. Reminds me of the EU’s carbon credit scheme which hasn’t panned out too well unless you are one of the companies getting the free carbon credits.

  4. I can’t help but think he’s in cahoots with Ted Turner in this venture. Turner has been buying up literally thousands of square miles in the country’s mid-section for some time now.
He’s either smart as a whip or he’s lost his marbles. I’m betting on the former.

  5. You know what you have to have as back-up for wind farms, for when the wind doesn’t blow or blows too hard? Or you have to clean the bird guts off the blades? Or the surges from the wind farm frag the capacitor farm they use to buffer the grid?
    Gas turbine generators.
Not steam turbine, because it takes too long to boil the water and get the pressure up. Gas turbine. Biiig huge jet engines burning good ol’ natural gas by the cubic buttload.
What business was Mr. Pickens in again?

  6. Watch for Pickens to lobby for alternative power generation subsidies from the gobmint.
The guy is not a fool; he knows who’s got the money and where there is money to be made. If he can help it with an advertising feature, so much the better. A little investment for a big payoff, that is the way to do business. Too bad that the taxpayers are going to be sucked dry in the process.

  7. T-Boone-Doggle.
And, apparently, the Ubermessiah has had a meeting with. So he will now be supported by George Soros and T-Boone-Doggle.

  8. Western Canadian,
If T-Boone-Doggle were proposing a commercial concern that had to sqand on its own feet, yes, you would be correct.
However, the whole point to this Boone-Doggle is that the state subsidises it, to the tune of all the profits. I.E. It is a naked, government money cash grab scam. And the Ubermessiah will go along with it, because he believes.

  9. and his son is a convicted scamster crook……so where’d sonny boy learn THAT kind of attitude i ask you ?

  10. T. Boone WAS the head hookin’ bull of LOVACA GATHERING company a few decades ago… LoVaca Gathering was to natural gas as Exxon is to crude oil now. OF COURSE he wants to go to natural gas !!!!! He stands to make BILLIONS ( with a “B” ) if he can sell those of you who haven’t kept up with this subject simply by FOLLOWING THE MONEY….
He doesn’t give a fat rat’s A** about getting the United States out of our dependence on foreign oil — ALL HE CARES ABOUT IS THAT WE CHOOSE HIS method of getting free of foreign oil.
HE will knock the HELL out of any other form of energy to get us free…. God forbid that someone develops a commercially viable FUEL CELL… He will FIND A WAY to declare it as the WRONG WAY…

  11. All these people who’ve been demonizing the oil industry are suddenly embracing one of its biggest players?

  12. I believe his plan was to build thousands of Wind turbines up the central plains from Texas to Canada.
Since this is a major migratory area for all kinds of birds, I wonder if his environmental study includes an estimate of the number of birds that will be killed. Millions are killed every year in the world from Turbines.
I’ll bet it will be more than the front page headlines of the Oil Sands incident last year.

  13. t boone has deals made with government so he can make a profit no matter what the outcome. a capitalist screwing the system. the sob needs a lesson in morals.
