  1. I really hope Americans are listening. We’ve come a long way, and the Dems want to take us a long way back.

  2. Barry can begin by downsizing from that old barn of manse he has in Hyde Park and move to a more energy efficient new development. Our betters need to lead by example.

  3. Since when the hell does America have to get the “okey-dokey” from the likes of France and China?!

  4. Remember when governments were judged on how much our standard of living increased not on how much they could take away!

Gotta disagree with you. I’ve heard both Dion and Obama deliver speeches, and they’re from different universes. Obama actually has an impressive style and delivery. Dion, on the other hand, should be indicted for torture.
Obama’s message, though, is another story. I have the hope that he is simply playing to his crowd and doesn’t really believe his words. (odd isn’t it that I hope they are lying to us.)

  6. “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.
So, he wants Americans to give up SUVs, conserve fuel, go on a diet, buy a sweater. And then ….

  7. We should do the responsible thing, and cut all energy exports to the US so their domestic sweater industry can flourish. Then maybe Barry Hussein would love us and leave NAFTA alone…
    Ya think?

  8. i remember when the MSM slagged GWB mercilessly and at great length for not knowing the name of some ‘Stan’s’ dear leader du jour….
whereas THIS on the make main chance little man doesn’t even know how many states are in the Union and gets a lifetime pass from the progressive press….

  9. Interesting quote from Obama’s speech,

“… but his big strategy is to do more drilling … that’s a phony solution,” he said.

I have to laugh whenever I hear democrats talk about the so called lack of an energy plan. It was they who in the Senate last week, again voted down drilling in ANWR, offshore oil development, continuing to put put approximately 70,000 barrels a day into the strategic petroleum reserve and even rejects trying to recover Colorado’s shale oil. Additionally, Congress passed a resolution forbidding the military to use oil imported from Canada’s tar sands.
Now even if you hate oil and want to see its use end, it’s not going to happen tomorrow. In the meantime, just how do they think that we will obtain fuel? Obviously an alternative needs to be brought on line. This will obviously take time.
It would seem the biggest obstacle to an energy plan is the democrats themselves.

  10. He wants to emulate Jimmah Cartuh.
Turn your heat down -wear a sweater. Get involved in interminable negotiations with fledgling “states”. Negotiate with everybody before deploying pitifully inadequate troop formations. Cut military funding and allocate to welfare.
We understand this is university educated theorist who believes action is multiple committees discussing multiple issues and co-ordinating action to the nth degree, but NOTHING will be done.
You know Hillary is wrong about almost everything but she is the preferred candidate, hope she keeps going.

  11. Barry hasn’t even been officially nominated by the Democrats, and he’s already giving us Malaise. Frak that!

  12. Don’t despair. This peace of hot air will have to meet McCain in a real political battle. Strange, but whenever he speaks if I close my eyes, I hear the intones of MLK. Funny about that!
McCain has proven leadership. He was born of a top Navy family and proved he was “one of 10,000” by being selected for Naval pilot training. After a distinguished military career, he served in private industry.

  13. I’m afraid the US is going to have to see what all these nitwit “green” policies will do if enacted. I’m pretty sure both houses of Congress will have heavy Democrat majorities after November, and all the remaining candidates for president are spouting a lot of the same environmental nonsense. The Democrats owe a lot to the environmentalists and trial lawyers and will be falling all over themselves to please them. It will be a shame to see the shambles left of our economy, but I just hope it will make people see the consequences of all this “climate change” hysteria. I am a Republican, but I kind of hope McCain loses so the Democrats can’t pin the blame on him for the unemployment and high fuel prices that are to come.

  14. It is hard to watch the recent tv commercials with Newt Gingrich and Nancy Pelosi blathering about climate change (once called global warming) without puking. And here in Southern Montana the trees are not even leafed out yet because of our late spring.

Being a liar or an idiot are not necessary or sufficient credentials for being the next President of the United States of America.
Either way, Barack Hussein Obama is only qualified to be the loser of the November general election.
Assuming he wins the Democratic candidate nomination, Obama’s best realistic option is to be “the next Ted Kennedy.”

  16. Is it just me, or does anyone else’s head start spinning when listening to one of Obama’s endless diatribes?

  17. “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times”
I have a three word answer to that that B.O. might find familiar.
    Yes! We! Can!

  18. Lets see here,
    – drive my SUV, having given Buzz Hargrove and his gang a job and an outrageous wage, along with buying the gas to keep the oil industry afloat-check,
    – eating as much as I want so as to keep the food producers, marketing boards, not to mention all the waiters and waitresses employed-check,
    – heat my home to 72 degrees and continuing to buy the energy to do so and keeping those makers of triple glazed windows and insulation employed-check,
    – what anyone here let alone any other country thinks about my life-who gives a rat’s ass!
I will soon be going on a cross country journey and spending my hard earned money from sea to sea, at gas stations, hotels and restaurants and supporting the travel and tourism industry. Just my way of stimulating the economy.

  19. Do Obama’s illogical, lengthy, and incoherent diatribes make any one else’s head spin? Or is it just me?

  20. “We drive our SUVs, eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times”
Oh well, oh well, I feel so good today,
We touched ground on an international runway
Jet propelled back home, from over the seas to the U. S. A.
New York, Los Angeles, oh, how I yearned for you
    Detroit, Chicago, Chattanooga, Baton Rouge
Let alone just to be at my home back in ol’ St. Lou.
Did I miss the skyscrapers, did I miss the long freeway?
From the coast of California to the shores of Delaware Bay
You can bet your life I did, till I got back to the U. S. A.
Looking hard for a drive-in, searching for a corner café
Where hamburgers sizzle on an open grill night and day
Yeah, and a juke-box jumping with records like in the U.S.A.
Well, I’m so glad I’m livin’ in the U.S.A.
Yes. I’m so glad I’m livin’ in the U.S.A.
Anything you want, we got right here in the U.S.A.
    — (presumptive) Vice-Presidential nominee Charles (Chuck) Berry

  21. Brilliant TexasCanuck…totally brilliant and so so true. thanks for the chuckle

  22. Gotta wonder how old Buzz Hargrove and the CAW are taking this no-NAFTA-no-SUV stuff, especially given that southern Ontario is where the SUVs and pickup trucks are made.

  23. Dr. Fruitfly Sucksuki was on CTV’s Question Period yesterday about Dion’s carbon tax which btw is “a good idea but hard to sell” according to MSM but of course would just be “a bad idea” if it came from Harper.
Anywho, there’s a CTV.ca report on Suzuki bashing Layton and Harper and praising Dion: Check out the comments section below:Most all are negative again’st Dion’s tax and CTV.ca is NOT a Blogging Tory site by far!
Happy Vic day and stay warm (Cold here in SOUTH western Ontario)…Lay on your polar bear skin in front of the C02 spewing fireplace.

  26. Sounder: So, he wants Americans to give up SUVs, conserve fuel, go on a diet, buy a sweater.
Shudder. Will I ever, ever forget Jimmah Carter cacooned in his cardigan delivering his Whitehouse sermon on turning down the thermostat … and expectations for a better future! Can anybody today under 35 (40?) have any clue as to the striking contrast of Ronald Reagan’s non-cliched Morning In America to Jimmah’s glooming twilight?
    Nostalgia time, folks.

  27. Me no dhimmi’s so glad Reagan came in with his Mourning in American after that idiot Carter bummed everyone out with his talk of an ‘energy crisis’.
He loved when Reagan came in to cut social programs and slash taxes for the wealthy. that was great!
As Cheney noted, “Reagan proved deficits don’t matter’ – RR stacked up a massive one that Clinton paid off with a surplus to boot. But GW Bush/Cheney destroyed all that by amassing the biggest deficit in the history of the world!
Dhimmii likes that! And also the highest oil prices ever known! That ‘better future’s workin out great!
And to think that Carter talked of an energy crisis! What an idiot!

  28. “We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.”
If this and “revenue neutral Carbon taxes” are what people in N.America desire then I must be way out in left field. Perhaps this is finally the breaking point for both of our countries, where the people sitting on the fence will have to choose between real world problems and fear mongering rhetoric. Hopefully comfortable wins by the Republicans and the Conservatives will force the other parties to start offering some substantial contributions and ideas to our political processes; or, perhaps Mike Kelly’s post is a better prognostication.

  29. “Since when the hell does America have to get the “okey-dokey” from the likes of France and China?!”
Probably around the same time that America started expecting France, China, and the rest of the world to get its ‘okey-dokey.’

  30. We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” Obama said.
“That’s not leadership. That’s not going to happen,” he added.

I am not going to parse these statements for you, but the conclusion is obvious: obama talks gibberish. He’s called eloquent but he says nothing. In this example he actually is confused. What is not going to happen? Americans reduce energy usage or Americans eat all they want?
His elopquence is simply speaking words with no meaning other than hypnotizing his audience.
    Elmer Gantry for president!

  32. Oh well, the hijabs and burquas we’ll be forced to wear eventually will keep us warm anyway…

  33. Obama can preach to me when his pastor refuses to move into his mansion and rids himself of his two cars. Add a few thousand other hypocrites, and in my lifetime none of us lowly folk will have to change our standard of living.
All we have to say to these jerks is, “walk the walk or don’t talk the talk.”
I recall too well sitting in my office at school freezing to death after then Pres. Carter turned down the thermostats. Never again!

  36. But Michelle did say that we were all going to have to give up “a piece of the pie” to others.
But of course, she has already had hers.
