Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Hon. Rob Nicholson,
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada
Dear Sir,
I wish to congratulate your Government on keeping the Radarsat-2 high tech industry in Canadian control.
However on another matter – Alberta , B.C. and the Canadian Human Rights Commissions (if they succeed in their current charges) against
Ezra Levant, Maclean’s magazine, Mark Steyn, Jonathon Kay, bloggers Kathy Shaidle, Kate McMillan, Mark and Connie Fournier will forever change Canada as a free speech country.
The state will have taken control and vet printed matter and mute debate in society.
I am an original Ontario Reform member and a current Dave MacKenzie (Oxford) supporter, but am very concerned where we are heading as a free nation.
The blogosphere has been all over the foul nature of the Marc Lemire charges by the HRC, Ezra Levant’s case has been shown to be a kangaroo court as well.
I urge you as Minister of Justice to abolish or drastically change the rules of Canadian HRC’s as they are currently constituted, because even Alan Borovoy sees they are an abomination as they now function.
While Canadian MSM has not taken up this fight, they should, because the Canadian and Provincial HRC’s with the power they wield are ready made for any state governing despots, with a majority of seats.
Simply because the leftist Canadian MSM are silent does not negate the seriousness of the HRC fight for speech control in Canada.
I am enclosing CC’s for other interested parties in order for them to appreciate this, my plea, to you as Justice Minister of Canada in this serious matter of individual freedom in Canada.
Sincerely,
Joseph (Joe) Molnar

You wouldn’t know it from the MSM but PMSH was relaxing in Halifax yesterday at the Canada-Finland hockey game.A little blurp about him in the sports section(CTV), and some live coverage on TSN during the game.

The oil in Burma? What does that have to do with a natural disaster?
It’s about the Junta’s control of the population and economy. Now we see that the Junta is taking the aid for itself; in Burma, the black market economy is apparently as large as the official economy.
And it’s up to the UN to deal with it; that’s why the UN was set up – to deal with situations as a collective. Rather than having individual states deal with situations.
However, the UN is a corrupt morass and doesn’t deal with anything. People all around the world, while claiming they hate the US – still ask, ‘When is the US coming to help us’? Why should the US people do so?
What the hell is National Sovernty? Apparently to the world today it means a piece of dirt is worth more that a human life.
To me the UN is simply another bit of look good do nothing meanness that the left fearlessly protects to uphold it’s image of caring. Not caring. To me it represent nothing more that a sanitized version of Hitler’s ovens.
Always remember, the UN is corrupt from the loading docks to Chief’s offices and everywhere in between.
It isn’t set up to help ordinary people. It is set up so people on the inside can get rich off the misery off those on the outside, off the take.
Tony Soprano would appreciate the business model.
WOW! I just agreed with Ted! Must lie down now….
And the transformation of Stephen Harper Version 2.0, principled career pundit and policy wonk eager to reform and democratize government, into The Right Honourable Stephen Brian Jean Harper (or Deceivin’ Stephen for short) is now complete.

Tories in court to battle access law
Ministers’ offices out of reach, they argue
OTTAWA — Federal government lawyers were in court yesterday to fight against a principle that Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Conservatives pledged in the last election campaign to protect: that cabinet ministers and their offices are covered by the country’s access-to-information law.
In a major case over the scope of the law, Mr. Harper’s government is defending former Liberal prime minister Jean Chrétien’s refusal to hand over portions of his agendas that were requested by the Canadian Alliance, a predecessor party of the governing Conservatives.
Speaking of UN and other man made tragedies like the Burma cyclone and it’s link to Global warming (Hey, Al Gore said so, OK!):
About the earthquake in china, tragic as it is, I tried to post on CTV.ca yesterday but of course it must of been deemed too offensive by the moderators. Anything but typical bleeding heart platitudes like “…My thoughts go to the victims…” or “…I hope the neocons in Ottawa send help…” was not to be accepted.
This is what I wanted to post, dry humour intended to provoke reaction from the many leftoids that usually post stupid moonbat comments there:
“I have a feeling that this earthquake is a direct cause of man made ‘Global Shock’ which is the result of accumulation of ground tremours caused by increasing: Rocket launches, explosions from bombs in Iraq, Afghanistan and other war thorn regions, Keith Richard’s morning after shakes, jackhammers and Al Gore walking.
We must act now to save the planet from ‘Anthropologic Global Shock’ (AGS) as it will eventually lead to the planet coming out of it’s orbit. According to my giant billboard size data collection called the “sledge hammer graph”, this could occur within the next 50 years or so.
So it is urgent we start a massive awareness campaign to stem and control AGS. Eventually, UN controlled earth tremour offset credit exchanges could be develloped along with other measures like finds to wealthy nations along with tax increases.
Please send me your cheque or money order and I will send you a complementary copy of my new pseudo science documentary “An Uncontrolable Shake” which will soon be in wide circulation in every school across the western world.”
Although some are trying to make the case that he is more of “Son of Mr. Dithers” on his delay in deciding to call a public inquiry into Mulroney/Schreiber (which he promised and which his handpicked factotum twice recommended), his delay in deciding to release Kahn’s report on the Middle/Far East (which he promised to release in full), his delay in calling a public or any kind of proper inquiry into the NAFTA comments leaks, his habit of announcing and then re-announcing the same bit of news, and his penchent for promising huge spending or making huge committments over the course of many decades even though with a minority government he is guaranteed to not be around to be held accountable.
The best examples of the latter, of course, is the 30 year spending re-announcement from yesterday (Harper even admitted there was nothing new in the announcement) and the 50 year emissions targets: both of which tactics were employed by Martin on the same files and ridiculed by critics. But the view is different when you are government, I guess.
Ted Must be VERY HAPPY … HArper is a Closet LIBERAL!
If Dion was’nt the grand master of ditherers and would of voted again’st the government like he kept saying he would on about the past 20 confidence motions we would now have:
– A majority Conservative Government
– Ted out of our hair
Ted – could you provide the data base to substantiate your claim that the CPC promised to include Cabinet Ministers and their offices in the access to information law – and exactly what this means. [I think you might find that your claim (and that of the press) is in error.]
And ted, no government can properly serve its country if its decisions are made only with reference to the political lifespan of a single political party in government. That is, it would be irresponsible for a government to plan projects that would only exist for a few months. It takes years to build an infrastructure – and that includes roads, public transportation, economic links etc.
A government that would refuse to look beyond the next two months; that would refuse to consider what needs to be done in the country..and acknowledge that these needs will take years of support and funding to accomplish – would be utterly irresponsible. You don’t seem to understand the role of government.
As for Harper calling inquiries about the Liberal drive-by Smear-Of-The-Week – why should he? Why should be play at being the Liberal’s sockpuppet? It’s the Liberals who are mired in mud and trying to prevent govt work by doing nothing but searching for mud and flinging it. Why should Harper use our taxpayer money for Liberal smear campaigns?

Charles M — guess who arranges these “marriages”, the Mullahs, for a fee, and very often with poor children from the countryside. The Mullah’s act as pimps,
My full post got caught in the filter. So, ted, I’ll briefly comment on your lack of data to support your claim that the 2006 CPC election campaign pledged that cabinet ministers and their offices are covered by the country’s access-to-information law.
Not true. Check out the full document of ‘the access to information act and recent proposals for reform. Feb 6, 2006. I won’t post the link as that might have twitched the filter.
You can also check the actual CPC 2006 platform.
It’s not in there. But, the ‘access to information act’ outlines the party platforms of the CPC, the NDP and the Bloc. This agenda of cabinet ministers is…wait for it..NDP.
Making cabinet ministers and their staff subject to the Act. – That’s in the NDP platform.
Check it out. Facts matter. But you can still continue to hate Harper, ted, because emotions aren’t based on facts.
Jeez Ralph … Not even a consumation?
Oh, ET. Keep up will you.
“As for Harper calling inquiries about the Liberal drive-by Smear-Of-The-Week – why should he?”
Because he publicly promised he would.
That used to be enough for Conservatives, at least before they got into government. For Deceivin’ Stephen, I guess you are confirming that promises are now just something to get the issue of the day out from public scrutiny in the hopes the sheeeple will forget his many broken promises by election day.
And, ET, if you are going to pretend you care about facts, then use real facts.

• Subject the exclusion of Cabinet confidences to review by the Information Commissioner.[…]

Standing Committee on Access to Information,
Privacy and EthicsTuesday, November 20, 2007
Chair: Mr. Paul Szabo
The Chair (Mr. Paul Szabo (Mississauga South, Lib.)): Good morning, colleagues. This is meeting number two of the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics. Our order of the day, under committee business, is planning of future business, and as agreed at the last meeting, we have the three commissioners, who will be giving us no more than—
Mr. Pat Martin (Winnipeg Centre, NDP): A point of order, Mr. Chair.
The Chair: Yes, Mr. Martin.
Mr. Pat Martin: Mr. Chairman, I didn’t know if it would be necessary for me to intervene at this time, until I understood what you have planned here. I was optimistic—
The Chair: Mr. Martin, that’s not a point of order.
Mr. Pat Martin: Well, my point of order, Mr. Chairman, is that I believe we should be dealing with the motions about future business first and then hear from the witnesses.
The Chair: That’s also a motion. You cannot make a motion under a point of order. Now, we have before us the access to information—
Mr. David Tilson (Dufferin—Caledon, CPC): A point of order, Mr. Chairman.
The Chair: Mr. Tilson.
Mr. David Tilson: I see some cameras leaning over your shoulder, Mr. Chairman, and I don’t know who those cameras are. If it’s the media, that’s one thing; if it’s the parliamentary people, that’s fine. It’s just a little unusual to have cameras leaning over the shoulder of the chairman. I just leave that with you. You are setting a bit of a precedent if you’re allowing it.
The Chair: Thank you, Mr. Tilson. I was advised at ten o’clock that there was a request that the media be permitted to televise—
Mr. David Tilson: Obviously, there was a request.
The Chair: —and I was advised directly by the clerk. Maybe the clerk could advise the—
Mr. David Tilson: Well, people can make a request all they like. I’m just saying that in my brief experience in this place, it’s highly unusual and irregular for the media to…. They can interview people out in the halls; they can watch it on television, if it’s televised by the parliamentary channels. I don’t know what the media is going to do with these things. They’re taking pictures of me as I’m speaking here. God knows what will happen. I’m just saying I’ve never seen a committee where this happens like this.
The Chair: Thank you, Mr. Tilson. You’re quite right. I’m aware that the normal practice is that 24 hours’ notice be given, and 24 hours’ notice was not given. If it’s the wish of the committee, we will ask that the cameras be removed. Mr. Martin?
Mr. Pat Martin: Mr. Chairman, the order of business that we’re at right now is planning of future business, and I would like to—
Mr. David Tilson: We’re moving along, Mr. Chairman. It’s a point of order. Are the cameras going to stay or are the
cameras going to leave?
The Chair: We’re on the issue of the cameras.
Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal (Newton—North Delta, Lib.): Are you going to take a vote on the cameras?
The Chair: No. I’m just asking if it is the wish of the committee that the cameras be removed.
Mr. Sukh Dhaliwal: No, they should stay, because we….
The Chair: I think that given that 24 hours was not…it would require unanimous consent of the committee to allow the cameras to stay.
Would someone care to make a motion that with unanimous consent the committee ask the cameras to be removed?
Mr. David Tilson: There’s a lot of theatre going on in here, Mr. Chairman. I don’t think it’s appropriate.
The Chair: Okay. I see none. I’m going to move on with the agenda then.
I would like to introduce—
Mr. Pat Martin: On the agenda, Mr. Chairman—
The Chair: No, we’re on the cameras.
Mr. David Tilson: Are you saying there was unanimous consent? I keep saying there isn’t. I don’t know how you’re getting that interpretation from me……
Preventing government to work is the natural state of assorted bureaucrats, lifers, and worst of all, politicans. These time killing mouthbreathers simply mark the days to their fully indexed pensions, and ‘harrummmph’ alot to sound important – don’t you know. Hey, these people actually can even call themselves ‘honorable’. A sick, and sadly, expensive joke on the people.
These idiots can’t carry a thought. By the 10th page, you’ll cry at the thought of the translation, publication, and archival costs that attaches to the idiocy on display. What a waste.
No, ted, the ‘exclusion of Cabinet confidences’ is NOT, I repeat, NOT, the same as
“Making cabinet ministers and their staff subject to the Act”
The Cabinet is not the same as ‘cabinet ministers’. Read the Access document and you’ll see what I mean. That document is quite clear about the difference between ‘cabinet confidences’, i.e., the discussions within the Cabinet…and ‘cabinet ministers and their staff.
You’ll find the full document by googling ‘the access to information act and recent proposals for reform’.
So, try again, ted. Get your facts straight. The CPC did NOT claim that they wanted ‘cabinet ministers and their staff subject to the Access’.

Records show that Sendler’s team of about 20 people saved nearly 2,500 children from the Warsaw Ghetto between October 1940 and its final liquidation in April 1943, when the Nazis burned the ghetto, shooting the residents or sending them to death camps.

“Top court asked to intervene in EI spending dispute
OTTAWA – Labour unions are telling the country’s top court the former Liberal government broke the law by diverting surplus funds from the employment insurance program to whittle down the federal deficit.
The Confederation des Syndicats Nationaux, one of Quebec’s leading labour organizations, wants the Supreme Court of Canada to belatedly declare the move unconstitutional and force Ottawa to return $54 billion in surplus premiums to the EI account.
The legal challenge echoes an old political debate.
Paul Martin, as finance minister under Jean Chretien, was repeatedly accused by critics on the left of fighting the federal deficit on the backs of workers.” (canpress)
Thousands Support ‘Citizens For Bruce C’
A campaign in support of a new nuclear plant at the Bruce site has attracted more than 4,000 signatures in the week and a half since it was launched. ‘Citizens for Bruce C’ want to convince decision-makers that the Bruce site is the best choice for Ontario’s next nuclear plant because it has a skilled workforce, available facilities, and community backing. Organizers say the campaign to gather signatures is a vital show of support for a project that could pump money and jobs into the area.
The campaign is going to municipal councils in Bruce County for endorsement, starting with Northern Bruce Peninsula and Brockton councils.

Funny that. Of all things, I could never imagine that I’d be on the side of a labour federation.
$54 billion in excess taxation, ploughed into general revenues is, simply said, theft.
Good to see the Cons addressing this, but as in everything, it requires the people going to court to get action.
But – for every action there is a reaction – like the Cons using taxpayer dollars to shut down Access to Information of cab mins.

WOW – Liberal Senator says Canada, U.S. just as bad as al-Qaida
============
OTTAWA – Canada and the United States have sunk to the moral equivalent of terrorists in their handling of a young Canadian held at Guantanamo, Liberal Senator Romeo Dallaire said Tuesday.
[…]
“The minute you start playing with human rights, with conventions, with civil liberties, in order to say that you’re doing it to protect yourself and you are going against those rights and conventions, you are no better than the guy who doesn’t believe in them at all,” he said.
“We are slipping down the slope of going down that same route.”
Tory MP Jason Kenney asked if Dallaire really believes that. He pointed to a number of al-Qaida outrages, including an incident in which the terror group outfitted mentally challenged young girls with explosive belts and sent them to their deaths in a Baghdad animal market.
“Is it your testimony that al-Qaida strapping up a 14-year-old girl with Down’s Syndrome and sending her into a pet market to be remotely detonated is the moral equivalent to Canada’s not making extraordinary political efforts for a transfer of Omar Khadr to this country?” he asked. “Is that your position?”
Dallaire was adamant.

Hezbollah’s dramatic gains in Lebanon last week are just part of a regional process that began last year in the Gaza Strip and will continue in Jordan and Egypt, a Hamas official in the West Bank told The Washington Times.
Sheik Yazeeb Khader, a Ramallah-based Hamas political activist and editor, said militant groups across the Middle East are gaining power at the expense of U.S.-backed regimes, just as Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip from forces loyal to U.S.-backed Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.
“What happened in Gaza in 2007 is an achievement; now it is happening in 2008 in Lebanon. It’s going to happen in 2009 in Jordan and it’s going to happen in 2010 in Egypt,” Sheik Khader said in an interview.
