A couple of weeks ago I alluded to this, to the dishonest outrage of a vocal few who, by defect or design, chose to miss the point entirely;
The problem is, the Weimar Republic had such laws. It used them freely against the Nazis. Far from stopping Hitler, they only made his day when he became Chancellor. They enabled Hitler to confront Social Democratic Party chairman Otto Wels, who stood up in the Reichstag to protest Nazi suspension of civil liberties, with a quotation from the poet Friedrich Schiller:
“‘Late you come, but still you come,'” Hitler pointed at the hapless deputy. “You should have recognized the value of criticism during the years we were in opposition [when] our press was forbidden, our meetings were forbidden, and we were forbidden to speak for years on end.”
The Nazis would have been just as repressive without this excuse, but being able to offer it made Hitler’s task easier. Like Canadian supporters of hate-speech legislation, supporters of the Weimar Republic thought that their groups and causes would occupy all seats of authority and set all social and legal agendas forever. Shades of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association or the Canadian Jewish Congress! They couldn’t envisage the guns of their own laws being turned around to point at them one day.
Meanwhile, the crack investigators at the CHRC scour the dark corners of the internet in the relentless search for “Nazis” as the Aryan Guard parades down a Calgary street in broad daylight, complete with police escort.
(Speaking of which – when the Communists show up to protest the Nazis, you’re supposed to pray for an asteroid, not pick a favourite.)

The documentary ENDGAME has Biometrika and Eugenics by Madison Grant’s book “The passing of the Great Race” imported from the U.S. as Hitler’s guide to sterilization most permanent.
Excellent post Kate.
CONSTITUTION ACT, 1982
PART I
CANADIAN CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS
Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law:
Guarantee of Rights and Freedoms
Rights and freedoms in Canada
1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society.
Fundamental Freedoms
Fundamental freedoms
2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
(a) freedom of conscience and religion;
(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
(c) freedom of peaceful assembly; and
(d) freedom of association.
Is the Supreme Court of Canada a valid court in deciding Charter issues when it only has representation by judges that represent law and no representation by God or his agents here in Canada. God and law (not or). This explains why God is being disregarded in SCC decisions.
As I am nearing 50 years of age, and I do not have to rely on the system for my income, it is time that I tested how “free” speech is in this country.
With the advent of the warmer weather(finally, no thx to the goracle and the fruit fly f#$%er), I am initiating a one man protest machine.
I am going to rotate between the following locations:
1. the local mosque
2. our esteemed speaker’s(Milliken) office
3. the local National Parole Board HQ
4. city hall
Each location will have a site specific protest, and I plan to push the envelope right up to, and including arrest and incarceration.
Watch for me in the news kids, it is going to be an interesting summer!
Supreme Court judges utter the words “so help me God” as part of their installation ceremony. I remember seeing a video of one of the female justices being installed, expressing distain as she spit out the words.
But, it was necessary, so she could then assert that Canada was a secular society with laws to be interpreted along strictly secular lines. All of our great founding institutions, including the inscriptions above the Parliament Buildings, betray this fiction.
And Christians have been sternly told they have no place in public life.
Good post Kate. What our man George said so eloquently is what I have been saying to Warren Kinsella over several emails.
He just doesn’t understand history.
In another article on this site it was suggested the reason the left does not see the hrc star chambers as detrimental to Canadians, is because they believe they will always be the ones with the power to chose what is acceptable, and what isn’t. They are fools to believe that.
Warren doesnt care about history, he is just interested in saying “Kate said Nazi….see, she said Nazi, I told you so. And look, oh my goodneess, Kate quoted Hitler approvingly. Do I need anymore proof.”
Warren should stick to music.
He’s really bad at that, but really, really bad when it comes to understanding and defending our constitution.
Must be something about being a Cretin lover . . .
Langman, Warren understands history just fine. It just doesn’t happen to fit with his agenda this week, is all.
I have an analogy.
Once upon a time last year Kate ran a story about people in Gaza dying in a sewage flood. A dike burst and poo flooded the town built down hill from it. Nice, eh?
The dike broke because some enterprising gentlemen were DIGGING IT UP and selling it as fertilizer. Some genius obviously took too much from one spot.
The parallel is clear. Our ancestors built a dike called the Canadian way of life, to keep out all the bullsh-t that infests the uncivilized world.
Mr. Kinsella is digging away at our ancestors work and selling fertilizer.
Nazis..yawnnn..that’s so yesterday.
WK loves to refer to the “hate bloggers”. He lumps them all together under that title. Problem is he includes those who don’t write or think “hate” but defend a person’s right to express thoughts that are in some cases extreme. That is where Kinsella has, to quote a famous fellow, “his head stuck so far up his a$$ he can’t walk straight”. There is no way to improve WK’s posture on all this. Hopefully, though extremely doubtful, he will have an epiphany.
Unfortunately the Charter and the HRC’s come from the same mindset. Some elite somewhere is defining what is and isn’t acceptable. As soon as someone with an agenda comes up with a legal arguement societal norms will be changed. Witness the changes that have been brought about since the inception of the Charter. Right and Wrong, Good and Evil have been relegated to the trash heap as we venture forth on our own stupidity thinking that the wisdom of the ages no longer applies to our ‘adavanced’ society. Somehow no one seems to realize that our advancement is actually societal decline and we are little more than the proverbial ‘frog in the warming water’. Canada is ripe for another Hitler or Stalin is there anyone who will defend against such depravity? Certainly not the HRC’s as they are on the side of despots, that being very nature.
Kate says by Defect or Design they miss the point.
Defective tools imprint their flaws into everything they touch. So it is with th kind of people who promote the idea that they can arbitrate appropriate thought and expression.
OMMAG, you’re saying Kinsella is a defective tool?
I concur, sir.
The Human Rights Commissions are based upon a false premise. This premise is that ordinary citizens are incapable of reason. They cannot read or hear information and judge its meaning or contents using their own reason. Therefore the content of what they read/hear must be governed by …an elite.
This elite is the bureaucracy, who alone have the capacity for reason and therefore, the knowledge of what is ‘right and wrong’.
This political structure, where the population is assumed to lack the capacity for reason, and only the governing class, the ‘Philosopher-Kings’ have that capacity is totalitarian. It’s found in every totalitarian nation since and including Plato’s Republic (with his Philosopher-Kings versus the peasantry)..all the way up to fascism and communism.
That’s what we have in Canada. People like Richard Warman consider themselves in this elite class of Philosopher-Kings. They reject not only the capacity-to-reason among all people. They reject the Human Right To Reason among all people. Only they have the Right To Reason. this is not merely arrogance on their part. It is a clear action of denying us our freedom. The freedom to think, to critique, to analyze, to come to our own conclusions.
So, they self-assume a ‘heroic role’ for themselves as Philosopher-Kings to rule over what we are allowed to read. The HRC’s basic infrastructure is totalitarian; it is fascist/communist. Above all, its disdain and contempt for human beings is clear in its complete rejection of, its refusal of, the ability of rational thought amongst ‘regular’ (non-bureaucratic) human beings.
Dang.
My wife saw my post, and has informed me that I will not be doing my one man protest show.
So much for freedom of speech!
This post is germane to a discussion on a thread of mine in which leftists try to narrowly, myopically frame the Warman suit issue as merely a “defamation suit, period”.
I try to explain to them the implications of such a frivolous (they don’t want to admit it’s frivolous and prefer to believe Warman’s the good guy) legal action, but they don’t want to open their minds as to the dangers inherent, particularly as concerns the left.
If anyone’s interested, here it is. Don’t forget the comments, of course.

Hume, Of the Study of History:
“THERE is nothing which I would recommend more earnestly to my female readers than the study of history, as an occupation, of all others, the best suited both to their sex and education, much more instructive than their ordinary books of amusement, and more entertaining than those serious compositions, which are usually to be found in their closets. Among other important truths, which they may learn from history, they may be informed of two particulars, the knowledge of which may contribute very much to their quiet and repose. That our sex, as well as theirs, are far from being such perfect creatures as they are apt to imagine, and that Love is not the only passion which governs the male world, but is often overcome by avarice, ambition, vanity, and a thousand other passions. Whether they be the false representations of mankind in those two particulars, which endear novels and romances so much to the fair sex, I know not; but must confess, that I am sorry to see them have such an aversion to matter of fact, and such an appetite for falsehood. I remember I was once desired by a young beauty, for whom I had some passion, to send her some novels and romances for her amusement to the country; but was not so ungenerous as to take the advantage, which such a course of reading might have given me, being resolved not to make use of poisoned arms against her. I therefore sent her Plutarch’s Lives, assuring her, at the same time, that there was not a word of truth in them from beginning to end. She perused them very attentively, till she came to the lives of Alexander and Caesar, whose names she had heard of by accident, and then returned me the book, with many reproaches for deceiving her.
…
In reality, what more agreeable entertainment to the mind, than to be transported into the remotest ages of the world, and to observe human society, in its infancy, making the first faint essays towards the arts and sciences; to see the policy o£ government, and the civility of conversation refining by degrees, and everything which is ornamental to human life, advancing towards its perfection? To remark the rise, progress, declension, and final extinction of the most flourishing empires; the virtues which contributed to their greatness, and the vices which drew on their ruin? In short, to see all the human race, from the beginning of time, pass, as it were, in review before us, appearing in their true colours, without any of those disguises which, during their lifetime, so much perplexed the judgement of the beholders. What spectacle can be imagined so magnificent, so various, so interesting? What amusement, either of the senses or imagination, can be compared with it? Shall those trifling pastimes, which engross so much of our time, be preferred as more satisfactory, and more fit to engage our attention ” How perverse must that taste be which is capable of so wrong a choice of pleasures!”

She Who Must Be Obeyed always gets the last word, Kingston.
Reminds me of what a Greek king once said:
Athens rules Greece. I rule Athens. My wife rules me. My son rules my wife.
There is an important aspect to the basic ‘rationale’ for the Human Rights Commission, Section 13.1. This is an axiom, a belief about the nature of human beings, and Canadians in particular, that grounds the very reason for its existence.
This axiom is that ordinary citizens have neither the capacity nor the right to think. They have no capacity to reason, to question, to critique, to analyze. Along with this assumption that Canadians have no capacity-to-reason, is the concomitant assumption that they have no inherent right to do so.
Freedom of thought and speech is based on an assumption that our species, homo sapiens, has the capacity for rational thought. Therefore, each individual can judge the validity of what he reads/hears for himself.
The Canadian Human Rights Act, Section 13.1, rejects this basic definition of our species. Some people, it assumes, don’t have this capacity. As Dean Steacy asserted, freedom of speech, and therefore the ability-to-reason, is an American not Canadian capacity and right.
Therefore, we have in Canada set up a two-tiered society. Those who can and are allowed to reason. And the rest of us – who are unable to do so.
Those who can reason are the bureaucrats. They alone tell us whether something is good or bad. We don’t have that capacity. Or right.
A government that rejects the very essence of human beings, which is that capacity to reason, is totalitarian.
One thing that should be mentioned here is that while the Weimar and state govts did their best to enforce gag laws on the National Socialists (even to the point of banning their political uniforms..the men just showed up, bare chested, anyways..) they were not as severe on the Red front groups, and in many cases assisted their growth through benign neglect and tunnel vision on Nazi activities.
The NSDAP was but one of a dozen unsavoury elements in late 20’s and early 30’s Germany, but then (as now) there were elites who thought they could control one or the other , to the benefit of a certain few..certainly not for the greater good of Germany..
Oh,…and Kingstonlad..in the immortal words of Sylvester’s son..”Oh.. father..”
Prepare thine ears for such utterances..
Btw, did Sylvester’s son even have a name? heh!
I know when i was in Italy they called him ‘Sylvestrino’ on the T.V.!
“when the Communists show up to protest the Nazis, you’re supposed to pray for an asteroid, not pick a favourite”
Interesting…the phenomena of wide spread dyslexia in political optics is a subject that Kathy addressed thusly:
“That such immature, unsophisticated, poorly-read, literal minded folks are allowed to vote and reproduce distresses me enormously.”
Smug, but it would explain the ease with which many adopt “faux liberalism” as a moral authority to do civilly repugnant things.
It’s easy to see the folly of allowing such “immature, unsophisticated, poorly-read, literal minded folks” control the political agenda. The “cheering section” on the “sides” in the Nazi-Commie confrontation in Calgary is just a small glimpse into the dystopian ideals of “faux liberalism” or , more properly, “progressivist machiavellianism”.
The new progressive is a creature of inverted logic and a dyslexic view of history. The goal of Progressivist despotism is forced acceptance that the unquestioned natural order of things is their dyslexic world view,… that public is always better than private, That individuals are always wrong and groups are always right, that rational self interest is always bad and self destructive altruism is best, that the main functions of government is to enhance opportunities for the imagined oppressed minority class and suppress the rights of everyone else.
The orthodoxy is vacant, the methodology belligerent, bigoted and amoral and the certain massive backlash from civil-minded moderates will be brutal.

It’s to bad the HRCs adjudicators apparently haven’t read the above, the God part might of confused them when they have banned versus from the bible that “Are likely to upset”.
The sad part is the Neo Nazis and the Commies are different sides of the same coin. Hitler believed in both ideology, he believed that the White Race was the master race and he used communist doctorine vis a vis violence and genocide to try and ensure his Utopian dream. Neither should be allowed to walk and march on the streets of Canada, millions have died in the name of Communism. If we as a society are being denied our right to speak yet filth like those groups march unimpeded tells me how far left this country has fallen. The lefts new mantra, “Freedom for me but not for thee”.
And Christians have been sternly told they have no place in public life.
Christians are involved in public life at every level. It is your deities that have no place in public life.
Manny, it pains me to no end to say this:
Well said.
You will most likely never hear those two words again. Certainly not from me.
All the Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) constitution decisions since the adopting of the Constitution in 1982 may be invalid. The decisions were not made by a competent jurisdiction as the members of the court do not have theology training or degrees. Can you swear an oath to uphold the law and then be deemed to be a law enforcement officer or judge. If a judge can hold a degree in theology and law, then this must be the pool of court representatives that must be drawn from for service. All others would be invalid or not in compliance with the foundation of the Charter and more particular upholding the supremacy of God and the law. The SCC may be an invalid institution as currently constructed until changed to meet the Charter requirements.
Thanks, Warwick, I got a gut bustin’ belly laugh out of that one.
Kingstonlad,
Wish I could be there to watch your back. Be careful Lad, they’re all nasty ba$t@rd$ that you’re dealing with.
God Speed,
Pat
Christians are involved in public life at every level. It is your deities that have no place in public life.
Heh, I don’t think He cares what you allow. Unbeknownst to the Biblically illiterate, things are going exactly as planned.
“(Speaking of which – when the Communists show up to protest the Nazis, you’re supposed to pray for an asteroid, not pick a favourite.)”
Im definitely using this. LMAO
“Speaking of which – when the Communists show up to protest the Nazis, you’re supposed to pray for an asteroid, not pick a favourite.”
Not if the asteroid is going to hit the police escort. I like most cops.
“Neither should be allowed to walk and march on the streets of Canada”
Sorry, Rose, you’re wrong on this. They have every right to peaceably assemble, to say whatever they want to say in whatever ridiculous chants they come up with, and to make utter fools of themselves if they want. They have this right just as much as Ezra Levant and I had to publish the Jyllands-Posten cartoons. It is up to everyone else to individually decide if the Commies or the Nazis or Ezra or myself make sense or are dullards.
At the very least, when the Commies and the Nazis parade down the street, they are providing a public service: they make it easy to tell who to avoid associating with in the future.
Christians are involved in public life at every level. It is your deities that have no place in public life. -Manny
I see. Thank you. And I’ll remember to get ahold of you when it comes time to tell the Muslim public-life folks that Allah has no place in public life whatsoever, so they better not complain about tissue boxes with Piglet on them or about the “gay” parades or motorcycle gas tanks with fornicating naked dykes airbrushed on them…

ET:
What you describe is the very essence of the term “political correctness”. It’s a prescribed and enforced way of thinking, handed down by an elite cadre.
It’s particularly noticable in higher education, where even today deviation from political correctness can result in punishment, ostracism, and denial of opportunity.
Political correctness, however, is not based so much on reasoning as on the desire for social engineering. Although most of us want to transform the society we live in, restricting freedoms is a destructive and self-defeating way to do it.
