Riders stomp Stamps

Smith came, was pressured, folded. The Stamps truly sucked in the first half.

The Stamps put some fire into their Oline in the second half and allowed a
cold Sankey to throw for almost 250 yards in a losing effort. Most of
that in garbage time however, so really is moot.

The Riders came out driven. Eddie Davis showed why everyone thinks
he’s the leader on D. Fantuz had some challenges, but had a
respectable 5 for 66. DJ FLick dominated his coverage, 147 yards receiving.

Kerry Joesph had some throwing problems in the first half and in an
effort to confront those issues decided to run for a whole bunch
instead. Calgary had no answer.

Calgary’s secondary played a very good game, but their DLine
stunk. KJ had time to order coffee, drink it and then read the defence
and find his receivers in the second half.

All in all. I’m thinking that the Riders are one game away from a home play-off game.

For rookie head coach Austin and brand new GM Tillman . . . good show,
eh. We’re all expecting that you guys will now go beyond that. 🙂

Oh, and the Sens won . . . again. Darn. I just hate cheering for the winners. </sarc>

Go Riders,

  1. Wasn’t post-season either . I’m still pissed about getting punked by the Where’s Waldo link the other day tho 🙂

  2. >Smith came, was pressured, folded
Further proof, if you need it, NFL quarterbacks can’t play CFL!!
    >the second half and allowed a cold Sankey
By adding Sankey to the line up, the Stamps added depth, but not talent.
    >Kerry Joesph had some throwing problems
I don’t know why, Number 2 (I don’t know who he is) and DJ were open all game long in the middle. Should have hosed the Stamps every down.
    >Calgary’s secondary played a very good game, but their DLine stunk
Way too small for a D Line. End of story.
The only question I have is why the Stamps, with a patch work defence and a NFL quarter back were in the game at all?
The jolly green should have run away and hid from us in the first half. But, we still had a chance to catch the Roughies in the forth quarter. To be honest, if the Roughies had faced a better club they would have lost. (Yeah I know, Calgary isn’t a good club this year, so don’t rub it in)
Go Stamps!! ( but I fear that our season is done unless Sankey is better than I remember.)
    Cheers from Calgary,

  3. The Stamps have no depth at QB. That is their problem.
Compare that to the Leos who are winning with their 3rd string QB.
It is going to be the Leos vs the Riders in the Western finals.

  4. It’s a wonderful thing to see the ‘Riders fans finally getting what they deserve. The best damn fans in the league! and it’s been a long long long time comin’.

  5. 🙂
Actually Lance, we’re two wins… or a win and a Calgary loss… or two Calgary losses… away from a home playoff game.
    I like our odds.

  6. There’s nobody sicker than a Buff. Bills fan right now. That was a crazy game and a bizzare outcome:-{

  7. Smith needs to find a new job. If Sask was so great tho, why did they have to try eight field goals, Calgary D had to be doing something right. Calgary scored just as many offensive TD’s as Sask. their only problem was they only played in the 2nd half.
All things considered, Burris hurt, change of defensive schemes, backup (smith) useless, I think Calgary played fairly well. The reffing was brutal both ways as usual.

  8. the Riders have never won the cup when the NDP are in power? well… I suppose I have to wish the Riders well then… and for the right reason too!

  9. Riders seemed to die in the “red” zone having to settle for field goals. 2 were missed. Need to play better if we want to beat the good teams like BC.

  10. Bad news for Rider and Eskimo fans. Burris is back next week.
Doesn’t really matter though. The Leos will stomp on whichever team they face.

  11. “Bad news for Rider and Eskimo fans. Burris is back next week.”
might be bad news for the fans.
Might be good news for the fans and the defensive secondarys. Burris hasn’t thrown as many interceptions as usual. Maybe he is getting better… maybe he’ll thow 8 in the next 2 games.
I’m still glad he is wearing red instead of green with his white uniform!
A home playoff spot would be nice. But I am looking forward to clinching a playoff spot this comming week. Hopefully with a Rider win over Hamilton, but an Eskimo loss would have the same result.

  13. Inaccuracies in Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth
The decision by the government to distribute Al Gore’s film An Inconvenient Truth has been the subject of a legal action by New Party member Stewart Dimmock. Although a full ruling has yet to be given, the Court found that the film was misleading in 11 respects and that the Guidance Notes drafted by the Education Secretary’s advisors served only to exacerbate the political propaganda in the film.
In order for the film to be shown, the Government must first amend their Guidance Notes to Teachers to make clear that 1.) The Film is a political work and promotes only one side of the argument. 2.) If teachers present the Film without making this plain they may be in breach of section 406 of the Education Act 1996 and guilty of political indoctrination. 3.) Eleven inaccuracies have to be specifically drawn to the attention of school children.
    The inaccuracies are:
    * The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
    * The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
    * The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.
    * The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.
    * The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
    * The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
    * The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
    * The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
    * The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
    * The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
    * The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.
It’s a shame that we can’t just simply all agree that it’s time to clean up our collective shit and get on with it.
I say lets start with disposable diapers, and plastic bottles.

  14. Lions. Too much depth, and much better than the other teams in the league this year.
