Makes you wonder how these guys sleep at night.

Has anyone else seen the TV commercial where Dr. Fruitfly aka David Suzuki is disconnecting someone's beer fridge in his basement? This is Fruitfly's statement: "This fridge uses 1250 kwH per year; that's about $150".

Now, I'm just an engineer and an MBA, so I'm sure my mathematical skills are no match for an aging geneticist, but it seems to me that works out to approximately $0.12/kwH. In Ontario, we're paying about $0.065/kwH as consumers. Is anyone else in the country paying 12 cents for a kwH, or is this just another case of irresponsible exaggeration by Dr. Fruitfly?

I think your calculations are right. The fruitfly is wrong, but what the hell, he's only trying get you to buy more beer. Wait until he figures out that making beer releases CO2.

In ontario, if you add up the hydro charges, delivery charges, service charges, volume charges, debt retirement charge and the Mo Strong retirement charge it works out to between 0.12 and 0.13 cents per KWH. 30 percent higher since the changes 5 years ago. It ain't cheap being green. Watermelons.
