[B]oth doctors trained in their home countries, neither of them practised there. As soon as they qualified, they left for the west, whose government health services have a chronic shortage of medical personnel that can only be filled by fast-track immigration from almost anywhere on the planet. If that's a strategic decision to exploit a vulnerable express check-in to the western world (as they did with Britain's fast-track imam immigration program of the Nineties), it's an extremely canny one.
Story: Five doctors held over attacks. Freedom fighters, driven by despair, poverty and hopelessness.
Update: And another, arrested in Brisbane. (h/t Maz2)
Should the term "terror cell" be updated to "terror practice"? One wonders what the hell is going on here.
Oh, looks like terror practice is appropriate. (On a different topic - someone help me out here. How does a 26-year-old become a practicing neurologist? What is this, the Readers Digest version of medical school or just Mohammed Jamil Howzer?)
With the numbers of foreign-trained doctors peopling our marvellous medical system, all ll I can say is that I hope CSIS is on scramble orders tonight.

So far we've got an Abdulla and a Mohammed in this broad strata of society.
Any wagers that we'll see an Ahmed?
Sorry for the OT, but did you catch anything?
The fact is that in Canada there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of young men from the Middle East, Pakistan, and other countries where Islam holds sway, who are "visa trainees" in medicine. I suspect they get very cursory checks by immigration/CSIS.
The universities love them, because they are funded from their home countries at extremely high rates, so the hospitals where they work are essentially getting free manpower, and even a bit extra "spreadin' around" money for the University.
When you go to a University affiliated hospital - they are doing a lot of your medical care. No doubt most are genuinely here to learn medicine and pose no threat to Canada - they are presumably the best of the best from their societies, and can be good people and fine doctors. But, how hard would be it be to sneak in a few who have other purposes?
zawahiri,,,al queda number 2 is a medical doctor.
Nobody says being a doctor doesnt mean you cant be radical.
Only one that I threw back. But we had kind gentlemen fishing beside us who overcaught their limit and passed them along to us. Yum, perch!
"Yum, perch!"
I didn't know non-franophones ate perch, you learn something everyday.
The age of some of these "doctors" leads me to presume that they're in their residancy stage, not that it matters in what they attempted. It just kinda blows the poverty bs out of the water.
Muslim terror-monkey Dr Mohammed Asha is described as a "brilliant" neurosurgeon. Good thing setting off car bombs is so much more difficult than brain surgery or they'd still be pulling the charred corpses out of the Tiger Tiger nightclub.
I agree, Kate. If one's interested in high quality prairie seafood, perch is a good perch, as long as you catch and kill it, and fry it, with butter, salt, pepper, and lemon, in a cast-iron skillet over a wood fire, on the shore, within fifteen minutes of catching it. Yet care is required: the more the minutes pass, the higher the risk of falling off your perch.
Whitefish, northern pike, and walleye are less subject to this phenomenon, so it's hard to do the perch joke based on them.
It's interesting how much water-borne food is so dependent on quick harvesting, preparation, and consumption, whereas good beef is cured for a couple weeks. And then, if you're fortunate enough to have brisket, it's cooked for a few hours.
From LGF comments:
How many muslim Drs does it take to light a can of gas? More than five.
Checked out the Hippocratic oath, both classical and modern versions, and could not find any reference to this kind of activity.
Perhaps some Islamic doctors adhere to a different oath.
The physician thing is interesting not only from the point that we in the west are always actively recruiting, but I would think that a system of communicating through patient's charts (electronic) would be very difficult to pick up since we are so preoccupied with privacy issues. Access to patients charts is extremely limited, except, of course, for physicians and a few other health care providers.
Sheesh....If these Dr's are so PO'd at the Brit medical system,it won't be long before they are blowing up(or attempting to) ones here in Canuckistan!!!
The really scary implicaton here is that the terrorist doctors by any normal measure would be described as modern men, people like us. It's beyond irony that these degenerates were in the noble field of healing people while plotting ramdom mass murder. It's absolutely chilling.
Islam is a degenerate death cult at its core. And, until we stop the madness of refusing to name this problem publically and debate how far we will tolerate this evil our death toll will keep rising. We are only in the second inning against the Islamofascists, they have a lot more depavity and death to deal out to us.
" Perhaps some islamic doctors adhere to a different oath " The hippocratic oath is a KUFFAR oath and as such nonbinding ...
Jihad truth is stranger than Michael Moore's fiction.
What I can't come to grips with is their method. Self-immolation is spectacular no doubt, though in this instance, obviously ineffective.
If I had hospital priviledges and a malevolent mind, I'd want to introduce something ugly into the ventilation system or try to spread a virulent disease. Imagine the panic if one could no longer a hospital to be a 'safe' place, esp. following other, more conventional attacks.
Just had company with a 'socialist bent' - but somehow I love them despite this personal failing - we were talking about Las Vegas and to them, all that wealth is obscene and must result in other people being poor - you know the types. Anyway, I'm amazed at how many people fail to still connect the dots around the world. To them, these are all just 'local abberations' caused by a few unbalanced and misguided souls.
More evidence of Canadians sleepwalking to their own potential demise.
It*s OK to be alert, - aware.
A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror "spectacular" this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.

@ Kate: The 26 year older was a Junior Doctor, which means under the British system he is a doctor training to be a neurologist and is in his first year of such training.
He isn't a practicing neurologist, in other words he'd be called a Resident in Canada, and while seeing and treating neurology patients he would be under the supervision of a certified or FRCPS registered neurologist. For what its worth.
Cmon! Every leftist will tell you it's POVERTY that's the root cause of terrorism. Ya know, like the kind of POVERTY Israel creates in the Gaza strip...
Vit....hate to be picky...but Saskabush perch are not seafood....just freshwater fish...but yes...very tasty when nice and fresh!
Thanks Langmann. The news reports made it sound as though he were a brilliant surgeon already.
Makes one wonder though - what sort of liability does a hospital open itself up to for not screening out foreign terror cells?
I'm glad I live here - in Saskatchewan few hospitals can afford a full cell of doctors.
I wasn't aware "cadaver creation" was part of the medical curriculum in Britain.
Do they cover that in Mortuary 101?
The Hippocratic oath is now undone, and becomes the Hypocritical oath.
Mary Shelley would have a field day with sequels to Frankenstein.
Or perhaps Robert Louis Stevenson would do an update of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?
All quite 'meschugge' really.

Now I see why Brits keep complaining about the service in the NHS.
This Arab neurologist clearly needs his own head examined.

Radicals vs. the Moderate Masses
...Comparing the two groups produces a number of key insights:
>Perhaps most surprising to many Westerners, the two groups showed little difference in religiosity as measured by the frequency of religious service attendance and the affirmation that religion is an important part of their daily lives.
>In addition, political radicals were, on average, slightly more educated and more affluent than the moderates, suggesting that the root causes of extremism typically do not include manipulation of the ignorant by religious superstition or promises of economic assistance.
>The responses of the “radical” group are more likely than the “moderates” to indicate a sense of being dominated, even “occupied” by the West. An unfulfilled desire for self-determination appears to be felt more acutely among the radical group...

The Hippocratic oath or any other oath, oath of allegiance to any western country etc. would be trumped by their allegiance to Mohamed and their god Allah.
It seems to follow, any religion that is all consuming, instilling fear and forcing adherents to pray many times a day is more capable of producing radicals.
The Muslim religion is producing the biggest threat to our world today. Take away that threat and we would have a remarkably safe world.
It's an extreme problem and requires extreme measures to put down. We are not doing it. We are still welcoming immigrants from those hotbeds in the guise of refugees. It's utter stupidity and it can kill us.
We have the likes of Jack Layton and his Lefty cohorts called Liberals and Bloc who are against fighting them on their own turf, and at the same time welcome them here.
They don't get it. George Patton once said "The object of war is not to die for your country but to make the other bastard die for his".
Problem is we are fighting an ideology and it's spread throughout the ME.

slightly ot but there has been and continues to be a discussion on the koran at hot air every sunday with robert spencer. it is worth the read.
"Any wagers that we'll see an Ahmed?"
Well, from BBC:
A suspect in hospital after the Glasgow attack has been named as Khalid Ahmed, who is believed to be a doctor.
A man arrested in Liverpool on Sunday has been named as Sabeel Ahmed, 26, who trained as a doctor.
It is interesting to see the incredulous response by some who don't believe 'educated' Muslims would be such extremists. Perhaps it is the bigotry of the secularists who think that only uneducated rubes would be fundamentalist a.k.a. fanatics; Muslim, Hindi, Christian or whatever.
Thank "you know who" that they weren't Dentists.
Doctor, heal thyself.
