The Government has decided that young people are rude and must be taught better manners in school. Of all the currish, lily-livered, puke-stocking ideas dreamed up by those odiferous tickle-brained rump-fed codpieces, this must be one of the most addle-pated.There, that feels better. Rather than teaching children courtesy (which cannot be taught, only learnt), schools would do far better to instruct their wards on the long and glorious history of the British insult. The ability to give and take offence is a vital part of our national heritage, but it is a tradition of scorn that is fast dying out.
One of the more depressing aspects of political discourse in Britain over the past decade is the lack of memorable insults. The late Robin Cook was the last politician willing and able to dish out really inventive invective, and even he was mild compared with his more malicious predecessors.
Maybe Brits are worried that all those surveillance cameras are also equipped with microphones.

Britain suffers from STATISM not any particular partisan brand of it either left or right.
A change in government will not change the micro-management of civilians....only a catharsis on the British public to cast off both Nanny and Big brother statism will create a atmosphere where civil freedom and constitutionally constrained government will exist....I doubt Brits have the sand or means for a good old fashoned civil revolt but they are long over due for a general strike or tax revolt by citizens who are sick of aggressive intrusive costly statism from all their political leaders.

They have a massive task ahead to insist the Muzzies integrate into British society and charge those who are "citizens" with treason, like the dregs who did the London bombing, and boot those out who are not. Then slam the door on any more such evil creeps of humanity.
Canada can't be smug, we have more space than Britain, more places for the bastards to hide and do their covert activities. We too have to stop immigration from all places where radical Islam is spawned. We have to keep close watch on all who travel back and forth to those places as well.
We think we have a problem with the Lefty creep that's taken over so many of our institutions of learning and other facets of our lives and governments. Wait until we have another generation or less of Muslim/Islam demands for things like Sharia law. With our Charter and Multi-Culti policies our SC judges will have to grant it.
Time to wake up is almost past.
As Thatcher said "The only way I can do everything for you is to take everything from you." It seems the Brits are fast approaching the point at which everything in terms of civil liberties and personal responsibility will indeed be taken from them. At that point the most galling aspect will be that despite having given up everything of real human value, the government still won't be able to do very much for them.

We have in our Canadian schools and at early grades, the buddy system, the teachers are the kids' buddies. The teacher's name isn't Miss, Mrs or Mr. it's Jane or Sue or Jack. Tell us that isn't the lefty creep at work, you know, the equality thing carried to the ridiculous.

Strange feeling I had about a discussion in one martial arts forum about prohibition of nunchaku and related Okinawan weapons. It ended with British moderator locking the thread with a comment along the lines of 'we need to know who is carrying what'. If the 'bravest and most fit' of the country feel that way, the nation is doomed.
