The Ipperwash affair is a open learning experience in Canadian political culture.... aside from CBC pravda working the "Mike Harris said a bad word" revalation to death, you have to read the summary yourself. If you do you will discover:

1) The government is a bully who takes land for war work and doesn't give it back until embarassed

2) Half drunk rioters burning things vandalizing homes and shooting wildly into the air, does not make a legitimate protest movement.

3) If you show up to confront police after shooting, rioting and burning stuff you stand a good chance of being shot.

4) Dolton McGuinty is probably the lowest form of life to ever inhabit human skin...he takes a federal indian affairs issue to granstand his liberal love for FN in a contrived and managed theatrical "inquiry", yet dumps the responsibility for his malfeasance at Caledonia DCE on the feds...this man leaves a slime trail.

5) It was federal inaction on returning Ipperwash in an above-board and timely manner to its rightful owners which caused frustration with FN, However FN were liable when they turned to violent demonstration, murder ( there were 2 unsolved murders on FN Ipperwash during the riots) and vandalism (which continues today un policed)

6) the MSM missed all the meat of the inquiry to trash Harris for saying "F'n Indians"...I have heard 10 times worse from DCE squatters...but who's listening eh?...media whores who chase racism in only one direction.

My suggestion is for governmet to trim its size and live withing the means we can afford...obviouslt many people can't afford a government that needs to tax consumer commodities this deeply... the message is "cut back" or there will be more tax revolts ( which black market smokes...or grey market labor is)

Was Commissioner Linden asleep on the bench or did the batteries in his hearing aid go dead when the following evidence was introduced since his report could find no blame with the natives.The country would quickly go to hell in a hand basket if people like Linden were responsible to maintain peace and law and order in this country.

A LITTLE HISTORY: (for thwap)

In WWII, hundreds of Albertans (all white) were displaced from a huge farming area north of Suffield,with almost no compensation, to make way for an army training base. War's been over for awhile, but the feds still have the land. A few years ago, foreign troops were holding maneuvers on it. (How's that for irony!)

The dispossesed have scattered with the four winds and built new lives for themselves. Some, in spite of what had been done to their families "for the general good" joined the military and quite a few of those never made it back from Europe.

My point? You can't turn back the clock. Bad things have happened to lots of people (including my ancestors) but carrying a festering rage on through the generations leads only to worse problems. (Ask the Palestinians.)

It's about time for the natives to grow up, forget the past, join the greater society that is now wide open to them and stop expending their energy screwing the descendants of people who screwed their ancestors. Enough already!

Whole lotta Japanese Canadians were screwed over, lost land, property, were wrongfully imprisoned, etc., back around WWII. No doubt it was wrong, but there are better ways to approach past injustices. I haven't noticed any Japanese Canadians making the news in the same way many aboriginals are with their violent actions.

Interesting comment about fighting for family homes from Thwap. Taking responsibility and protecting your own property especially with a gun is not something one expects to be espoused by a lefties. I guess it's okay in his eyes if you're a minority.

My great grandfather had the mineral rights to the land he homesteaded back in 1905. He ceded his land to his son who ceded it to his son who ceded it to me. Over the years the government took away the mineral rights at time of title transfer so I have no claim over the natural gas they found under the home quarter.
