A Visit to Fatah's Torture Chamber
Germany’s Spiegel Online has a piece on the new Gaza amusement park formerly known as Fatah’s Torture Chamber.
Note: this was a facility owned and operated by “moderate” Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas, who’s about to receive another financial windfall from the US.
A building formerly occupied by Fatah’s intelligence service in Gaza was long notorious for torture and execution. Now Hamas is in control — and is letting former inmates visit the chamber of horrors.
The cells are small, perhaps six feet by six feet, with only an overhead lamp to provide light. The toilet is a hole in the floor behind a small wall. The prisoners have scribbled graffiti on the walls, including slogans like “Al-Qaida in Jerusalem” and “Islamic Jihad.” One inmate even scratched the phrase “Mother, oh my mother” into the plaster.
The children have no interest in the graffiti. Four of them are rushing through the 30-odd basement cells, their mother and aunts in tow. The nine-member family has taken the afternoon off. Where parents in other parts of the world might take their children to a chamber of horrors in an amusement park, the main attractions in the Gaza Strip these days are Fatah’s torture chambers. ...- http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/

“The Palestinian people will never forgive the Hamas gangs for looting the home of the Palestinian people’s great leader, Yasser Arafat.” So Palestinian Authority spokesman Abdel Rahman recently exclaimed. “This crime will remain a stain of disgrace on the forehead of Hamas and its despicable gangs.”
Looting? Crime? Despicable gangs?
Excuse me. For years, Palestinian Authority-sanctioned gangs shot and tortured dissidents, glorified suicide bombing against Israel, and in general thwarted any hopes of various “peace processes.”
Of course, this kind of behavior isn’t limited to the Palestinian territories but is spread across the Middle East. The soon-to-be-nuclear theocracy in Iran is grotesque. Iraqis continue to discover innovative ways to extinguish each other. Syria assassinates democratic reformers in Lebanon. ABC News now reports that new teams of al Qaeda and Taliban suicide bombers have been ordered to the United States and Europe from Afghanistan.
Here’s why much of the region is so unhinged — and it’s not because of our policy in Palestine or our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
First, thanks to Western inventions and Chinese manufactured goods, Middle Easterners can now access the non-Muslim world cheaply and vicariously. To millions of Muslims, the planet appears — on the Internet, DVDs, and satellite television — to be growing rich as most of their world stays poor.
Second, the Middle East either will not or cannot make the changes necessary to catch up with what they see in the rest of the world. Tribalism — loyalty only to kin rather than to society at large — impedes merit and thus progress. So does gender apartheid. "Taliban executed civilians" (slashed the throats of women)
THE HAGUE (AP) - Taliban fighters executed Afghan civilians, including women, who refused to join them during a recent fierce battle against NATO and Afghan government forces in the south, the Dutch military chief said Friday.
Citing ''solid reports'' from Afghan police, Gen. Dick Berlijn said Dutch and Afghan forces, supported by Dutch and U.S. air strikes, fended off an attempt by about 500 Taliban fighters to overrun the southern town of Chora last weekend.
During the attack, Taliban fighters tried to force local civilians to fight alongside them, ''and killed citizens who refused - they were hauled out of their houses by the Taliban and executed,'' Berlijn told reporters.
''One police checkpoint commander saw two brothers murdered before his eyes by the Taliban,'' Berlijn said. Another police report ''said that eight women were murdered - they had their throats slashed,'' he added.

If you think the childcare battle is won, you are wrong. The provincial government has reduced the number of chidren you can care for without license to 4 from 6.( all on the sly mind you) This will be uneconomic and drive the better ones out of business. So over the next few years people will find they have no options. Guess what the solution will be? And hang all the parents who can't find childcare. It's for the cause.
Thank your government and your ideological progressive neighbour. They won't be happy until everyone depends on the government. We buy jobs at $8000 per. Government, the media, and big business are complicit in shearing the Canadian sheep. We prefer the government to look after the minor things like our health, our children, our parents. We like to look after the important things ourselves.( to be honest, I'm having trouble coming up with something) I'm ashamed to say we Canadians have become a pretty feeble bunch. Sell your soul for the government dole.
The natural, end result of socialism: Zimbabwe.

More government attempts to make a perfect world, anyone whose vehicle is "voluntarily idling" will be fined $50, including bus drivers, and people in drive through lineups at fast food places.
It doesn't occur to them that restarting your vehicle over and over is less efficient than idling, especially when you're the thitieth car back at Tim Hortons. Not to mention battery and starter wear.

Berlijn said reports suggested that between 30 and 70 enemy fighters were killed in the fighting that started June 15 and raged for several days. ...-

Nancy Peolosi is all for increasing Veteran’s funding, if the vets are Canadian
Really, this again points out how very little the Democrats know about our military. This is simply basic stuff, but apparently not something any of Pelosi's staffers could be bothered to check out or most likely would know anyway.
Take a look at the pic on Pelosi's website (it's a flash thing, so wait till it comes around but there is a screen cap below) where she touts how "the House is providing the largest increase in veterans’ funding in history". The picture?
That of a Canadian officer. Unless written otherwise, all epaulets have "CANADA" in gold lettering on the epaulets on the part nearest the sleeve.
Do they even know what our uniforms look like?
