Mörner was recently interviewed by Gregory Murphy of Executive Intelligence Review, and began by making it clear that the sea level claims made by the IPCC are a lot of nonsense (emphasis added throughout, h/t Eduardo Ferreyra):

Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming
Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.
Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.
"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

A friend of mine, a environmentalist
say's he loves camping getting back to nature. Camps without disturbing anything (in a very obsessive way). Unfortunately just being there changes and distorts the animal patterns, as they can smell you. The focus needs to change into, reduction and elimination of pollution (C02 is not a pollutant), the only other alternative is to kill yourself.
There was a great article in this weekend's Financial Post Comment section by a mathematician from UWO (can't remember his name) pointing out how talking about "mean global temperature" is about as meaningful as talking about the average telephone number in Calgary. There were two other good articles on the page about junk science including the genocidal effect of the DDT ban in Africa -- highly recommended reading.
Did anyone else read the article by Noel Sheppard. If you did you would see this statement (bold added by Sheppard).

However, Dr. Mörner seems to have missed some things. Sea level rise is due to two things, thermal expansion and glacial melt. While thermal expansion would cause a decrease in rotation, the melting is a different matter. When glaciers melt the water flows down hill to the ocean and thus will act to increase the rate of rotation, just like a skater bringing her arms in.
The fact that Dr. Mörner seems to have missed this does not speak well of his understanding of basic physics.
John, he's been studying this stuff for 30 years. I expect he's taken many variables into account. He has also been an IPCC reviewer.
Why not write and ask him.
Also, he takes measurements!! Egad!! Then apparently tries to make models that explain or mimic the measurements; WOW what a concept.
But it his his charges of fraud which are most telling.

I pointed out what I believe to be a significant flaw in his argument. It is based on some basic physics - so let me ask you directly, do you agree with my logic or not.

I didn't mean to make the argument from authority.
But I don't really have the time to develop the whole theory. There are many things to take into account, such as the fact the the sea level will rise more at the equator than the poles due to its spinning. You are right about the thermal expansion being significant; I doubt he isn't aware of that.
In his article he wasn't trying to make an encyclopedic exposition on the subject, but highlight why he found the GW and IPCC a fraud.

The NRSP is led by executive director Tom Harris and Dr. Tim Ball. John Cross, the ice that melts and flows downhill are mostly near the poles and thus are closer to the axis of rotation. As sea levels rise around the world, the biggest effect on rotational speed will be water near the equator since it is farthest from the axis of rotation. If the sea level rises uniformly over the world, then the doc is right. If water from the melted ice stays near the poles, then the Doc is wrong. What, in your opinion, is the likelyhood of the water level rising significantly at the poles but not near the equator?

Do you think this man had an earthworm's hope in hell to get funding for his own interest if it didn't have a gl;obal warming spin?
John Reynolds: Good point. The important distance is the distance from the axis of rotation. All things being equal if the melt is from below 60 N or S then it should act to increase the spin. However this does bring up an intereating point since thermal expansion is back in play. If seas at the equator suffer thermal expansion more than others areas then it will act to decrease as well.
Of course things are not equal since we have those pesky continents in the way. And just to make matters interesting, if we see significant melt from Greenland then that will change the location of the axis of rotation and then all bets are off.
Anyway, I do agree that the matter is more complex than I initially thought.

Here's a non scientific opinion based in personal observasion of human nature and taking past geolocical record into account...the sea may rise..then again it may not...the climate may warm then again it may cool, the sun may get hotter for a while then it may go cooler.. these are nature's trends billions of years old.
The one modern trend I can definately conclude as accurate is that man-made hysteria over these ancient cycles of change is pointless....they occured before we were here and will occur after we are gone. They are controlled by natural/cosmic forces greater than we have the knowledge or ability to control.
Probably the most abhorant trait of the global warming micro-thinkers is they take man's roll in natural cycles too seriously...it is the height of human hubris to think we can actually effect natures forces to the extent of breaking it's cycles or ability to reclaim damage. Nature has historically be the most destructive force on earth with everything from continental upheaval to vulcanism to climate change, to solar flaring and all the defoliating and species killing properties these cataclysmic events carry with them....just WHAT is it that Preacher Gore thinks he can do in the face of such massive might...so far all he has offered is a tax system and economic plan which benefits him and his profiteering camp followers...when you think about it, the puny efforts the snake oil selling hucksters endorse really offers no hope in coping with the massive forces of nature.
