If what he says is true, and I happen to believe him, that is exactly what will take place. Vae Victus, woe to the vanquished. It also lends credence to my belief that the left is not stupid, if that were the case they would have to be right a certain amount of time, at least according to the law of averages. There is, as suggested in the video, something more sinister in the offing. As I have preached here many times in the past, the real enemy of Western civilization, lay's within.
Quote, tolerance is the virtue of the man with no conviction.
Very interesting! He has stated succinctly what I have recently suspected.
One wonders what specific actions they have funded, and blowhards such as Michael Moore, Greenpeace, and some supporting role for this global warming fanaticism come to mind as distinct possibilities.
What a compelling argument. Many of us have presented points of view that seem to go over the heads of people. This argument that "demoralization" robs the person of the ability to critically question their assumptions is so powerful and seemingly applicable; witness the global warming scare where twenty foot sea level rises, argued nowhere in IPCC literature, is now a "fact" courtesy of Al Gore.
I think Mr Besmenov is also right when he argues that the academic, bureaucratic and media elites won't know how wrong they are until they have a totalitarian boot up their rear, that it will be too late, and they will be the very first victims.
If you thought this was interesting -- I thought it was fascinating, and chillingly accurate -- I suggest you click on some of the other clips from that same interview posted You Tube. You can get to them via the little windows at the bottom of the insert.
The guy, a defected KGB officer I hadn't heard of, has some amazing stuff to say about the malleability of Western media, Marxists and Useful Idiots, and other topics.
The interview was done in 1984.
I'm not into conspiracy theories or anything like that. So, I'm not sure I would buy the idea that the hippie movement - and everything else from the 60's - are part of a KGB plan.
But, I do believe that leftists everywhere study (and copy) each others' examples when it comes to controlling a population. For example, it used to be predictable that a revolution would ensue whenever the tax rate went above 30%. But, this hasn't happened since before the 20th century - which, as luck would have it, was when socialist revolutions (takeovers) started.
I think that Bezmenov has simply put into words what most of us already know about the workings of the left and Marxist-Leninist idealism. It's all about group mind control...turning the idealism into a matter of faith so strong that facts don't matter. We already see that with global warming, second-hand smoke, welfare state dependecy, etc. It is super-easy to prove what's real...but the major parts of society don't care to see.
And, even among those of us who do see what's real, what are the odds that there will ever be a revolution (of any kind - not necessarily bloody)? We all know that, if the individualists and free-thinkers would actually unite and revolt, the leftards would roll-over so quickly - because, hey, surrender is their thing. But, we have been so "demoralized" that we can't get past the point of simply saying, "Yeah, that sucks...pass me another beer."
...and the next one in the series (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gqd-x0omd_o) complete the theme:
Ideological subversion is a change in the perception of reality where no one is able to come to sensible conclusions. There are four stages of this brainwashing process:
(1) Demoralization, a generational process that is now complete;
(2) destabilization, a 2 to 5 year process;
(3) crisis, up to 6 weeks;
(4) normalization, continuing indefinitely.
Fortunately for us, the useful idiots jump to stage three before completing stage 2, somewhat resetting the clock on the whole process. Still, it does proceed.
What I find somewhat shocking is that the writers to this post are surprised by this phenomenom. This was a well known process that was recognized by our security people back in the Trudeau era. They recognized the first steps, that of the tearing down of our institutions, as a factor of the 60's hippie cult; (read the pourquette behind the Queen's back in a new light). They were also alarmed at the left wing emergence in our university faculties.
A good book on this subject is "Peace With Freedon"; Dr. Maurice Tugwell.
The KGBs of the world knew of the four groups that would be 'soft targets'.
1) The Media
2) Universities
3) Hollywood
4) Public School System
I have to admit that I did not see it happening back in 1984.
But why these four ?? What do they all have in common ??
A group that would have a hard time functioning out in the real world ??
They would fight tooth and nail to promote a "system" that "takes care" of everyone ??
As in the former USSR :)

Sounds like a hyppie.
Fascinating to watch someone articulate so succinctly what we all suspect but never verbalize. The fact that this is 20 yr old footage makes it all the more chilling.
Knight; that's exactly the problem. Free people who won't think and inform themselves are very vulnerable.
In Canada (60's/70's) our head of state was mocked openly, we had the separatist threat and foreign takeover of industry held over us; in the US it was the Viet War excuse to attack Government institutions. The CIA was behind everything including the Kennedy assassination.
The present Global Warming threat is likely intended to keep the phobic population off balance and in the dark as to real threats to our society.
As Richard Nixon pointed out, the Soviet Union may be over, but their covert warfare is very much alive.
This theory was first tried in the Thirties with great success. Anybody remember the Philby, Burgess, McClean, Blunt affair. Worked so well on the small scale that it was only a matter of time before it was expanded.

That's nice and depressing.
The power of free people is highly underrated throughout this video...
