She just underwent a mastectomy and breast reconstruction. I'd invite readers to put politics aside this morning and wish her the best.
Stupid comments are most unwelcome at this time.

Well good luck to her.
Its strange we usually don't do routine mammography for screening in Ontario until age 50 unless there is family history.
I wish her well. I have an aunt who is a survivor of a double. My father successfully fought throat cancer. And my gran who has a tumour the size of a grapefruit in her colon. It can be so hard when things are so uncertain. On the victim and those who love them.
best of luck to her, horrible disease.
I have a wife and three young daughters. Even if I didn't I'd still say the same thing, setting all politics aside.
All the best, Ms. Stronach. May your recovery be swift and as complete as possible.
een.
I agree, best of luck.
My Prayers to Ms Stronach & her family
My mother had the mastectomy last fall, we thought it was successfull only to find out that the cancer had spread to her bones, mother endured the month's of chemo & the side effects. She has now been told the cancer is aggressive advancing further in her bones. She has decided forgo the chemo, she is not giving up As she is now trying hormones.
Best Wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
No woman deserves this horror.
Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery Ms Stronach
Just as an aside: a few years ago, Magna provided funds for a large cancer treatment facility at Southlake Regional Hospital in Newmarket, Ontario.

This is my local hospital -- my daughter was born there -- and I pass by it a few times a week. The new buildings seem almost complete externally. Not sure when the centre opens, though. If it is already open, I wonder if that's where Ms Stronach might be undergoing treatment.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Ms Stronach, and may the cancer never come back!
Best wishes to Ms. Stronach.
signaller222: As a throat cancer survivor, (almost 5 years), I understand what your dad went through. It is just as tough on your loved ones as is it on yourself. I wish him well and also your gran.
All the best to Ms. Stronach and family. I wish her a speedy and full recovery.
It takes a lot of courage to opt for this kind of procedure as a preventative measure. Hats off and heal fast...
Definitely this isn't something anybody deserves. Here's hoping she makes a speedy recovery.
God bless her and her family.
I guess that explains her departure from politics. Breast cancer is a strange disease. Sometimes it's treatable in a very successful fashion with minimal surgical intervention. Other times it is quite aggressive and potentially very deadly.
Best of luck to Belinda.
Best of luck to Belinda. I had a very dear, close friend of mine die from this horrible disease, only 1 year after we both graduated from the same college. She was only 34. No woman deserves this. I only wish her Godspeed.
lanqmann...here in Alberta all women over 35 can get a mammogram, and are encouraged to do so,regardless of family history.
Belinda: take care and get better!
An eerily similar path my mother.....but sounds like she has gone with the more agressive treatment.....10 years ago the pressure for her to go with a minor mastectomy, as it was with my mother, would have been high.
Irony it was the womens movement who pushed hard against mastectomies. At one point they were considered insensitve butchery of the patriarchal medical establishment.
Good to see that good sense now prevails. That extra step of a minor mastectomy bewteen lumpectomy and major mastectomy cost my mother her life.
I wish Belinda good luck. My sympathies to her and her children, lets hope it is all gone.
I hope that catching it early they were able to get in all. All the best to Belinda and her family.
Good luck to you and your family.
Good speed,
Pat
She's so young for that! I know she has a couple of kids, so I most definitely wish her well. As an orphan, I don't wish cancer on anyone! Politics aside, no one deserves that.

My wife, my sister and at least a dozen friends and family have had breast cancer, all are still here and are cancer free. Belinda, successful treatment and long and happy future.
Aw Brenda. I have fired a few bullets in your direction. I wish I hadn't now.
My wish is that Ms. Stronach returns quickly to a full and active life. And I thank her for her humanitarian work.
I wish Belinda a speedy and complete recovery. Best of luck to her. But, hey, let's not get too maudlin here. Any 'bullets' she took from conservatives during her political 'career' she deserved. And should she return to political life, having had cancer doesn't place her off limits from more of the same treatment.
Probably why the MP is leaving. Sorry to hear that. From what I've read, she does good work with good intentions - most of the time.
I obviously wish her the best because personal battles always trumps politics. I don't respect her as a politician but I wish her the best in her recovery.
Glad to hear Ms Stronach's prognosis is excellent. God speed your recovery.
I've just sent her and her loved ones good thoughts and prayers.
I wish her well. I hopes she kicks the shit out of that miserable disease.
Best wishes for a speedy and complete recovery -- a very difficult disease to cope with on many levels -- all the best.
Although I've always thought she is a ditz, I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy.
Good luck on your battle, girl.
Yes, many of us here have fired many bullets at Belinda Stronach, but I don't believe any of us would wish anything other than a full recovery.
Being on the opposite side politically, does not mean we hate our opponent, just disagree on the political aspects.
Good luck in battling this Ms.Stronach, and I hope the cancer is beaten permanently.
Best wishes for a recovery for Belinda! At times like this important things in life are given proper perspective.
Politics is very unimportant in today.
pundit/bollocks - by what right do you take on yourself the authority to define or 'make a deal' about what goes on in this blog?
The only reason you said what you said was to assert yourself as 'superior'.
Arrogance has no place in this thread - which is about one thing only - a disease and the indifference of that disease to position, authority, the presence or absence of wealth, self-defined superiority, threats to others.
Kindly keep your threats to yourself.

It's a shame that Belinda Stronach has breast cancer,
it's not something I would wish upon my worst enemy...
but I know 324,486 people, in this particular instance,
who aren't going to be all that impressed.
Chances are you know one of them.

The Left and Right might chuck crap at each other, but sometimes we have to look past those differences when we face things that don't care what our politics are.
Best of luck and a good recovery.
Umm pundit/bolllocks, unless some negative comments have been deleted, I see only best wishes for Ms Stronach. What are you talking about?
Frankly I'm impressed with Ms Stronach. She is sharing her plight in a courageous way and adding her public profile to this terrible disease is very welcome. If she can increase, even through her suffering, awareness of breast cancer, then good on her and, sincerely, best of luck.
Our prayers are with you Ms. Stronach.
Breast cancer survivor here....or so I thought...seems that it's spread to the lungs and lymph nodes. I'll find out for sure this week when I get a CT Scan done.
Doesn't matter if you have or don't have money/power/prestige....we're all the same when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of life.
I don't think Belinda Stronach cares much what people have said about her politically, or what she has said. Her concern is on recovery, and doing what the doctors think is best.
It's okay to be political about issues....but when it comes down to it, people pull together when someone is sick, like it's shown in these comments.
Hopefully she gets well soon. Breast Cancer is a serious issue. I still think it has something to do with the fact Women use "Anti-persperant" and men use " deodorant " .....there are huge differances in the two products. I make my wife use Men's deodorant because she has a ton of Breast cancer in her family. You really have to look at the label to see the differance.
My best wishes to Belinda and every other woman with breast cancer, being a 4 yr survivor. Anonymous, sorry to hear your news - God bless.
Belinda (and anyone else who has had mastectomy) should see about getting some myofascial release (aka active release) treatments in a few months after the scars heal up.
Commonly the fascia in the pectoralis area proliferates after the surgery and can result in a variety of shoulder and neck/upper back problems. Releasing the fascia in the area normalizes posture and takes away the tightness of the scars.
Keep on keeping on.
I disagree with her politics, but I wish her all the best personally.
anonymous ---hoping the best for you
and also for Ms Stronach
Praying for her speedy and complete recovery. Like Daverbonz said, critical personal battles such as this make politics irrelevant.
Cancer doesn't care about political affiliation and like everyone here, I wish any person the best when dealing with this devastating disease. It is a shame that pathetic people like bullocks try to make something out of it that it clearly isn't.
I've been working with cancer for the past dozen years or so and the truth is that almost all of us here would like to be put out of business with a cure. Our motto here is "Making cancer history" and that about sums it up.
BTW, Anomynous, keep up the fight. It's tough but you can do it.
Thanks for the encouraging words, folks. They help, they really do.
Jim....there are men who get breast cancer too....a smaller # of them, but the disease isn't restricted to women only.
Anyway....good wishes for good health all around.
