A Letter To The Ottawa Sun

What is left out of commentary is a very effective propaganda tool used by the MSM. Of course, leaving out the main point of someone's letter is deplorable editing; it is unprofessional and unethical.

But, when has that ever bothered the MSM/

That's why I'd rather comment here and on other blogs, rather than in letters to the editor, in the hopes that "the invisible public" is reading and inwardly digesting what's really happening.

I used to write frequent letters to the editor, but when, for instance, the National Post completely mangled one of my letters a year ago, I cancelled my subscription (I'd been a supporter from the very beginning of that paper's run) and turned to blogging.

The MSM is the author of its own impending demise--or, at least, its shrinking readership. A lot of us out here aren't stupid.

What makes you think the Ottawa Sun isn't infected with anti-American transnationalist progressives? They are flogging the anti defensive missile sheild dogma and must contain all factual info damaging to their spin....typical presstitutes.

Who ever the Sun letters editor is who slips those unsigned snide little editorial remarks/rebuttals in after the letter should be dragged out on the street, tarred and peed on.....the main reason I quit buying a Sun.

This is a carry over from the "star wars" of Ronald Reagan where the MSM said it would never work and they are'nt about to admit they were wrong.Global warming will be treated the same.

The Sun's selective snipping says "we know he's an idiot, but we're not going to admit it."

Michael Harris is the Sun's Lawrence Martin. The best thing I can say about him is that he was far ahead of the curve with respect to the (allegedly) now-fashionable bedhead look.

The stupid media just doesn't get it! In their minds they are the "maker" of the truth So, who really cares if they change someones letter??? We do! The media will pay, as subscriptions continue to decline.
Here in BC we have the Liberal Premier that hangs out with the owner of the Province. Do you believe that we get the truth here? Not frick'n likely......

Omitting facts that would interfere with the philosophy of a particular news manufacturer is the standard practice, even in the land of the free. This practice is so constant that most of the time it is not recognized. When you talk with variety of people, it is amazing how, most follow what ever the news reader or paper says.
It seems they omit things to irritate the reader as a sort of call for response in letter to the editor and then edit the letter to irritate more.
You may notice in TV news, they show mostly close ups, to intensify the feeling of drama, even when there is no drama going on. A wide angle lens would show that in the bigger scheme of things normal life is going on all around.
One of those that blow great balloons of news is Newman of Global news. Notice, when he gives the introductions of the news, it is just bombastic. He would go something like ‘Harper did this, but did he?’ sounds like great news story, no?

How stupid is the Ottawa Sun and the scribes that scribble for them? They and all the other dead tree journalists and TV talking heads are writing there own walking papers everytime they alter ,filter, spin , omit or lie.

It's incredible that the MSM doesn't catch on that their ex-readers witness daily examples of their blatant subversive intent to mislead, as they continue to lead the transnational progressive parade at the expense of their own financial solvency.

The MSM can't die fast enough.

No surprise here. Just looked at how the MSM has messed up the spat between PMSH and the Premier of NS. Twist the news to make Tories look bad; I say go for it, Harper will be PM for quite a while, so they better get used to it.

Aww, the letters editor probably just left out the last sentence because the term "kinetic energy" made his head hurt.

It's not that I'd ever defend the Sun but the original article was a column and as such is not news so from what I understand of journalism 101, you can say whatever you want, facts be damned. The same with submitted letters. I think they even write somewhere that they can edit as they (being the Sun) see fit. The thing that I detest is the actual news item that has a bias to it and presents that spin as fact.

Harris should seek the help of a mental health expert. He's obsessively going after Bush and Harper, it's just over-the -top.
He's hated Harper from the time Harper said we should support our traditional allies in the Iraq war. That was at the beginning when everyone thought they had WMD's. Suffice to say, Saddam was a bad cat. At no time did Harper say he would send troops to Iraq, in the first place we didn't have any.
Chretien signed on to Afghanistan to crap out of being asked for help elsewhere. Now the Conservatives are the bad guys.

The poodle is a hunting dog. So what does it mean to be called a poodle. Someone capable of defending oneself and tracking down one's prey with great ease. Sounds like Harper.

All of the above, Or... maybe a junior editor needed column space and chopped the last 4 lines which do not add materially to the "defensiveness" of the purpose of ABMs, merely technical details.

Thanks for that note about Poodles, truthsayer. I have made the aquaintance of quite a few poodles in my life and I have great admiration for their courage and intelligence. PMSH is an admirer of cats, I am sure that Harris hates cats too since cats are not kow towers, they insist on being their owner's peer and they only do voluntary work IF they like and respect their host(owner). Harris probably owns a Pit Bull.

Whatever, GWB is a wimp, everyone knows that the only effective defensive weapon is a multiple entry thermonuclear one.

Maybe this has something to do with Harris's POV?

Poodles are incredibly smart dogs.

Poodles, as pointed out by truthsayer, are hunting dogs which don't mangle the 'catch' of the hunter. Not to put too fine a point on it, PMSH doesn't mangle the Opposition either.

But he does deliver the goods.

There was a time when Michael Harris wrote for the TORONTO Sun.
I looked forward to reading his stuff, because he made sense from a conservative or libertarian point of view.
Since he has morphed to radio and the Ottawa Sun I can't believe it's the same guy writing.
I don't bother reading his stuff anymore.
I may well put him on my "journalist Liberal lickspittle" list when I update it next.
