... we had a neighbor who, in addition to a large and successful farming operation, provided heavy equipment services to local land owners and oil company leases.
One afternoon he happened upon an RCMP cruiser parked near the highway on his property. They were hidden in a small stand of trees, radar trap set.
He drove up and asked them to leave.
Which they did - just long enough to obtain a warrant authorizing their use of the spot.
So he fired up a Cat.

It's pretty obvious where things are going with the envirno mania, private property gets confiscated at will on the flimsiest of excuses.
The left is ever resourceful in finding new ways of transfering wealth out of private hands and into the collective.
Private owners of property are better stewards of the environment than government. That's been demonstrated time and again with ranchers in the States.
Thanks to Duhlton's green belt legislation there's a lot of farmers in this area looking at bankruptcy. They were borrowing against the value of their land for capital expenditures like buildings and equipment. The land value was supported by developers buying and building on similar acreages. Now they can't build in the area and the land values have plummeted. No more borrowing, no more planting.
But hey, there's lots of cheap imports from China, right?
Clearly endangered species need to be protected but it's unfathomable to justify stealing someone else's property without compensation and these scumbag watermelon enviro-commies need to be kicked in their withered berries.
Appropriations for public goods must be paid for with public money at the fair market value. Nothing else can satisfy even rudimentary justice.
Shame on the (exclusively urban) commie watermelons for having so little respect for ethics and fairness that they would even consider advocating ruining other people.
This is another reason to hate the left. As if we needed one.
eastern Ontario is in a recession, unemployment over 10%, one in four have no family doctor, contraband smokes enjoy 50% market share.....I could go on, yet the only thing the librano moonbats care about is protecting some bird that will be wiped out by the forces of nature in the long run anyway....chimpy mcarsehole, our fearless leader
Five hours at 500 mph (8ookph) to traverse from Ottawa to Vancouver. Clear skies all the way. I love looking out the window at our planet sliding by below. Drives wife nuts.
Open spaces. Mile after mile. Endless country side.
Then ... blink, a city flashes by.
Again, mile after mile, endless terrain. Hour or two at a time. Lots of space to set up a humble abode. Blink, another huddle of people passes by.
80% of the people in this country think there is no space. Too many people. Birds are crowded too, they say. Maurice Strong wants to pare us down to a Billion or so. (also see Paul Watson's Sea Sheppard site)
Why do people gather in crowds ?? Simple.
To earn the big bucks so they can buy SUVs and burn gasoline travelling mega miles to the "country" to get away from it all. Some then plan half-way-around-the-world trips in 40,000 hp jets to meet with 10,000 other UNers to draw up restrictions on energy use. Cool.
And they say that man is the higher intelligence animal. Some even muse about it :)
Any native land involved in this. If the govt can take our land, why not native land.
Shoot, Shovel, Shut up! Eh?
"Shoot shovel and shut up"
Naw Mary T., you don't understand how this works.
See Natives, they have Rights. White people (well, and all the other non-Native shades too), we don't have Rights. We don't even have rights, small "r". What we have is privileges, revocable at the whim of the local Justice of the Peace or faceless government functionary in Ottawa and/or Toronto.
Welcome to Trudeaupia, where what's yours isn't really. Especially if the Mohawk Warrior Society decides they want it.
I'm a city kid (in spite of spending most of my adult life in the Army in less than scenic world locales) but this Urban Stalinization has me pissed.
I live in Stittsville, what was once a quiet little town outside of Ottawa has really begun to boom. Housing developments (I can count 7 new ones off the top of my head) are springing up all over but Stittsville is still surrounded by farmland and woodland. Actually much of Ottawa can say the same, its one of the reasons I liked Ottawa so much when growing up here as a kid, it was a Green city. But I knew then as I know now, no matter how green a city is it ain't nothin compared to the wildness of 99% of this country.
Now if the ivory tower bunch could just take their heads out of their asses for long enough to take a trip outside of the city proper. Further even, go past all the 'burbs. Move North West on highway 17, past Arnprior or South East past Orleans. Now turn off the highway onto some lonely county road drive for 5 minutes and stop the car. Get out. Walk for 5 minutes perpendicular to the road. Stop... Tell me again how we are using up all the "wild" spaces.
Urban sprawl is a myth perpetuated by people who through choice have never hauled their pasty white carcases farther away from civilization than the first Starbucks.
Zip, .. amen.
"Shoot shovel and shut up" ( Ralph Klein 2004 on proposed fed Endangered species bill)
Uh... "Shoot, shovel, and shut up," was Ralph Klein's response to BSE/Mad Cow not a Federal endangered species bill.
And it was an idiotic comment. It's basically the same attitude that the Chinese have with their poisoned food exports. Would you like to eat Chinese wheat glutten still?
"Shoot, shovel, and shut up" is a natural and wholly logical response to an unjust law. For the consequences of which, blame the leftards and watermelons who crafted the law which seeks to confiscate what doesn't belong to them without proper compensation to the victim of said theft.
If a farmer sees something that will bankrupt them if the leftards see it then the farmer will get rid of it before the leftards see it.
Simple logic really. Bugger farmers and farmers will react accordingly.
They want to take away someone's property, because other people want it, right? That's legalized robbery. If the property is not for sale, stay away.
We have no property rights--and yet the Natives are demanding land claims that are not written anywhere be given to them. Fontaine states it is hard to be a Native when you look off Reserve and see all the wealth around you! Yeah, like all the farmers that will be bankrupt by this ruling. Yet McLiar's friends got to develop in the OakRidges Moraine! We are suckers of the first order.
Well the thing to do is to patrol your property daily and empty the traps of any endangered species that may devalue the property and degenerate the "best purpose" land use.
"Shoot, shovel and shut up"
The direct result of eco-nazi bureaucratic tyranny will be an instilled hostility to endangered species among landowners.
I have seen rural properties in the US advertised as being "guaranteed" free of endangered species...hmmmm
Another stupid utopisn law backfires when it pits the state against private property ownership...it is an example of why the real deep greens advocate a systemic deletion of private land ownership.
Then we will see some real "shoot, shovel and shut up"
On a slightly unrelated topic, it seems to me that the cops should not be allowed to hide behind the poles or drive unmarked cars looking for speeding and other violations. Take a note, that I am an impartial person: I drive at the speed limit and always show signals etc, as a matter of principal. The issue here is that police should not be allowed to anticipate a violation, while not occurred as yet. We do not allow police to sell drugs to people just to charge them with possession of controlled substance - hiding behind a hydropole or a bush and driving a disguised police vehicle looking for a next person doing an unannounced lane change is exactly same sort of thing - soliciting a violation.
The Niagra Escarpment was a larger land grab than the one used to build Canada's railway, add to that The Oak Ridges Morrain, and Dalton (I'll write the lie down for you) McSlushfund's huge green belt, and our elites control southern Ontario's realestate.
If the Ontario electorate won't give McStalin the political asskicking he deserves in the coming election then they deserve to lose everything he desires to take from them!
Sheeple...........they will be fleeced!
It's this kind of garbage legislation that only makes the situation worse, not just for the landowners, but also for the endangered species, such as the shrike (A very interesting predatory songbird). When these laws are set up, landowners respond by removing the habitat and destroying any animals of this type that appear on their property, thus accelerating the rate of extinction rather than lowering it.
Eco-wackos want all private property transfered to the goverment just like all socialists do
