A Canadian political scientist excoriated for attending what was widely labelled a Holocaust-denial conference in Tehran has retaliated with a blistering published attack on his university president and his colleagues for being illiterate Islamophobes.
Writing in the influential Literary Review of Canada, Shiraz Dossa, a tenured professor at Nova Scotia’s St. Francis Xavier University, said that his academic integrity and academic freedom were grossly impugned by the university administration, an assault on his reputation that he said has yet to be remedied.
He accused the president and chancellor of authorizing a “small Spanish Inquisition” to denounce him - a campaign he said was initiated by two Jewish professors and the Christian chair of the political science department.
Prof. Dossa also wrote that the attack on his reputation was launched by The Globe and Mail’s editorial board and by columnists John Ibbitson and Rex Murphy, whom he described as being “intellectually just a cut above the Trailer Park Boys” and ignorant of the Middle East.
James Turk, executive director of the Canadian Association of University Teachers, likened the treatment of Prof. Dossa to the 1950s McCarthy period in the United States when academics and others were subjected to intense pressure not to attend events that were unpopular.
Meanwhile, another Islamic 'scholar' says:
Gomaa himself is the author of a controversial book which claimed that Prophet Mohammed’s (PBUH) companions used to drink his urine, considering it a blessed act, as reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.
Gomaa stuck to his position despite criticism, claiming that everything which emanated from the Prophet is pure and sacred.
So, I think we can take 'scholar' Dossa's words and with slight modification make it applicable to Muslims: "Intellectually, just a cut above a trailer in a park."
This is so wrong! Negotiating with terrorists. The natives that are on DCE land have no right to be there. Now, they are getting rewarded for their "bad behavior". I hope someone can talk some sense in to Harper before its to late! This is such a dangerous road we are heading down.....

"For a guy that is hated so much there sure are alot of people that would watch the Stanley Cup with him. Harper 60% Dion 12%"
Bryan once we realize that Harper is only "widely hated" in the liberal media, then realities come back into perspective.
One of the themes of Kate's bog and the realities of Life in Canada is that we rarely recognize our feelings, thoight, perspectives represented in the largely liberal largely GTA media.
The realities MSM create are not the realities we live.
The Toronto Star runs daily "speak out" sessions on various topics. Typically they take responses for a day, and then publish them in a highly edited form that often alters the message.
They have poked a pinkie finger into Islamic related matters in recent weeks. This link will take you to some recent polls.
Notice that the one on "Canada's multiculturalism policy" is still looking for responses, even though it's nearly a week old. Several polls above it, which came later, are complete.
Yet the multiculturalism one does not show any of the results. Dollars to donuts, that's because th e responses were so overwhelmingly anti-multiculturalism, that the Star does not want to publish them.
Interestingly, the previously poll, which related to women's rights and multiculturalism, had a number of strong anti-Islamic responses, and was cut very short.
Once again, MSM hides from us that the true thinking of much of the country is. Arrogance beyond belief.
Kennedy is suing the Nat Post for supposed lies re the backroom dealings at the leadership convention. An ex Green honcho is suing the G&M.for a 3rd party remark on a blog. How come no one is suing Jason C for his derogatory description of PMSH, which he has repeated on more than one occassion. Seems he is very upset that another set of truth ads re his leader is out and he doesn't like them.
And, are the young liberal ads supposed to do anything except make us realize how sick the young liberals are. They are also asking for donations so they can raise money for them to be shown on nat tv. Why, so more people can laugh at them.

OTTAWA -- Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has been heckled off the stage at a labour protest rally in Ottawa.
Dion was taunted by several thousand unionized workers as he spoke on Parliament Hill, and was eventually drowned out by chanting.
There were loud boos from the crowd as he left the gathering, with many people complaining about the Liberal party's stand against anti-scab legislation.
Jake Lombardo of Hamilton, Ont., accused Dion of double-speak as he taunted the Liberal leader.
Lombardo blamed the Liberals for launching policies that he says are costing Canadians jobs.
The demonstration was organized to protest the loss of thousands of manufacturing jobs, particularly in Ontario and Quebec.
Labour groups blame Ottawa for the job losses by allowing interest rates to rise and for negotiating trade deals that they say are killing high-paying jobs and sending work overseas.

re: military funeral for Cpl Dinning. When I was in military, I was the officer who went through the funeral bills. As usual, press has it wrong.
Family spent $3000 on arena rental and about $4000 on bereavement counselling. These costs are not covered by the pertinent orders. Basic funeral costs (4675 maximim, was $3500 for years, is too low) plus all costs associated with transportation, memorial and perpetual care are covered.
Families were ripped off time and time again by unscrupulous funeral homes who seemed primarily in the casket selling business. Assisting Officer ensures family fully advised, after they are briefed be admin officer. I had list of funeral homes set up, those who would only bill within our limits.
I would get the funeral home to send me an itemized bill for all services, which I would go through and extract every penny I could pay. Anything above that, such as costs of arena rental and bereavement (provincial responsibility?), require higher authority, likely at least Vice Chief of Defence Staff.
It is a shame family felt they had to go to press, but their letter weren't answered. Anyway, the family, on Adler today said bills, including subsequent costs, will now all be paid. It is unfortunate his staff dropped the ball on this one.
I believe though, that Cpl Dinning's father is in error with his statement that $250,000 is paid out to spouses in same circumstances. Did some basic checking and Cpl Dinning's parents would be entitled to two years pay. If Cpl Dinning elected group life insurance (SISIP), then again moneys available to family. I know of no differentiation between married and single, except the spouses of member may elect dependent life coverage with SISIP. I've been out for a while but did some research. After reading Gloria Galloway's article, I'm sure she did no research on this issue whatever.
Understand Dion made it an issue in HofC today, of course demanding resignation of O'Connor. Harper shot back he will back up O'Connor, given he is an honourable man who wore uniform for his country, before Dion anytime, who never wore a uniform. Ignatieff shot back that Harper wasn't in military either. Hmm, wasn't aware he was Defense Minister. Pretty lame comeback anyway.
I just thought people would like some facts on this issue, rather than the unresearched crap we've seen so far.
Shamrock, thanks for more information than the MSM could ever muster. While is is a shame that there was some missed communications or something, I think the only reason the opposition cares is because it is another thing to whine about. In my 22 years I never heard of anyone renting an arena. Any post church/chapel services I've attended have usually been in legion halls although I'm not sure how that was arranged. It is a shame that the family had to go to the media but my condolances go out to them just the same.
Organ Transplants in China: Just Like Picking Lobsters in Restaurant By Lee Yuhan Sound of Hope Radio Network May 31, 2007
The Human Rights and Medicine Forum drew an interested crowd to the University of Chicago on May 24.
Canadian Independent Investigator David Matas, coauthor of "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China," Dr. Kirk C. Allison, Director of the Program in Human Rights and Health, University of Minnesota, and Falun Gong Spokesperson Zhang Erping attended the Forum. Two of the University of Chicago Student clubs, Falun Gong and Amnesty International, sponsored the Forum. The investigation of the illegal organ harvesting in China was discussed in earnest.
Dr. Allison believes evidence has shown the organ harvesting and transplant procedures in China involve cooperation from many Government departments. These departments include all levels of government, the police, the courts, the Ministry of Health, the military, the penal system and many others.
For instance, one Taiwanese patient visited China twice for a kidney transplant. There were four donors at each visit. The exact match was found with the eighth kidney. This gruesomely tells us eight people were on the execution list to find one exact match for the kidney transplant patient.
Dr. Allison also indicated that these transplants did not come directly from scheduled executed convicts. According to the spouse of the Taiwanese patient there's a large bank of prisoners as donors. The spouse said the doctor was holding a 26-page-long list of donors already pre-typed for blood group and HLA matching. The doctor then marked several donors on the list and put them in order. Further examination was performed on these selected prisoners. The transplant will be canceled if the test turned out to be positive. Otherwise, the operation will take place immediately. Allison mentioned that this is like picking your own lobster at the restaurant.

I'm researching various aspects of the Meadow Lake Pulp Mill and I have many questions about the situation. As you are the MLA for the area, as well as both the Minister and the Chair for Saskatchewan's Crown Investments Corporation, I believe you are probably the most well-informed person on the MLPLP.
My research, which has only skimmed the surface so far, has uncovered some puzzling aspects. Would you be kind enough to answer some of the following questions:
* As the mill was supposedly sold in January 2007, why has the bankruptcy once again been extended, this time to July? Shouldn't the sale have ended the bankruptcy?
* Has the sale actually taken place?
* How much was the value of the inventory that was included in the sale?
* Why was the mill sold for $37.5 million when there was at least one other interested party who told government ministers he was prepared to pay fair market value, estimated to be between $125 and $150 million?
* Were you involved in the meeting with the interested party?
* Were you aware that members of your own constituency, contractors who worked for the MLPLP, are still owed a substantial amount of money?
* Apparently some of the unsecured creditors have been paid. Why are only selected companies being paid? How have those decisions been made?
* Who has received the over $20 million in fees, commissions, and 'Other' during the first 11 months of the bankruptcy?
* Are those fees still being paid? To whom?
* Before the sale, was the government made aware of the disastrous environmental record of Asia Pulp and Paper?
* Before the sale, was the government made aware that APP and their parent company, Sinar Mas, had defaulted on loans of over $13 BILLION dollars, monies raised for them by prominent financial institutions in the US?
* With the information about APP and Sinar Mas being publicly available for years, how and why did Victoria Park Capital and/or government members make the decision to sell to APP?
I still have much work to do in this investigation, including reading all material related to the bankruptcy. I also need to do more research on APP as information about their very questionable ethical and environmental issues continue to surface.
Some background on me will assure that this is a serious inquiry.
I'm a professional researcher with 17 years experience in similar investigations. I literally set up the Canadian Taxpayers Federation office in Edmonton, Alberta in 1990. I also did research, wrote articles, and did media interviews for newspapers, radio, and TV for CTF. I was the Principal Researcher on the Alberta MLA Pension Plan which resulted in cancellation of the Plan by Ralph Klein in 1993. For confirmation, see Jason Kenney's website at http://www2.parl.gc.ca/Parlinfo/Files/Parliamentarian.aspx?Item=106c623c-3606-40ae-a2f6-f4a619cf02f6&Language=E&Section=Publications.
Since then, I've investigated numerous areas in business in Alberta and in the Government of Alberta. I was privileged to work with Scobey Hartley in these areas. To quote Mike Byfield on Scobey, "The Calgary oilman was the most politically influential business figure of the Ralph Klein era, to the point that his death on June 6 drew national media coverage." Mike's article is at http://www.dobmagazine.nickles.com/columns/column.asp?article=%5Cmagazine%5Ccolumns%5C060821%5Cmag%5Fcol2006%5Fgl0000%2Ehtml

Hardboiled, it didn't take long for the predictable reaction from the usual suspect: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=10577080.
"Almost fell"? Hah. Hansen's chair must be a rocker. I saw a program featuring him on cable -- UCTV? -- and his arrogance and condescension were amazing.
Bush is very foolish or very cynical. He's flirting with trouble either way.

re: military funeral for Cpl Dinning.
Dr. Allison said, "'That one', you see, that's what's happening, 'I want that one'." ...-

Saskatchewan cabinet shuffle...
Re-arranging the deck chairs?
The Honourable Maynard Sonntag
Dear Sir:
I must tell you that my recent move to Saskatoon has been wonderful and I intend to make it my permanent home. I'm impressed with the beauty of the city, the friendliness of the people, and also with the potential that Saskatchewan has.
Thank you, sir, for your time and for whatever assistance you can give me on this matter. You can reach me at 306-979-4744.
