I think the Conservatives had to put up the most recent 'ads' because of what the Liberals have done to denigrate and destroy the elected House of Commons.

Reducing the House to irrelevance is the Rule within the Liberal Party. Chretien governed primarily from his Office. And Martin essentially ignored the House, including a confidence vote, including manipulating cross-overs etc.

What has happened is that the Liberals do not accept their Oppositional Status, because they have no policies of their own, and cannot properly 'oppose' the Gov'ts policies. That is why they only 'oppose' no matter whether/not the CPC policy is good/bad; they simply oppose it. Liberals don't know that Opposition doesn't mean knee-jerk opposition; it means a critical evaluation. They can't do this and exist only within Power-Networks.

So, the Liberals have moved to acting As If they were governing, by calling in all their patronage appointees. These include the Senate; the MSM; and the civil service.

The Senate has moved from its traditional role as discreet background check, into a legislative role, a role developing, making, authorizing legislation - and supplanting the elected House. These Senators are primarily Liberal patronage appointments - and they are unelected, unaccountable - and have moved into an authoritative role in our gov't that is supplanting the electorate's powers.

We, the electorate have no control over the Senate. They are totally unaccountable; they've refused Harper's Accountability change which would have put the Senate under the review of a non-Senate Officer. They insist that they will 'oversee' themselves. So, you get Colin Kenny, an outspoken, anti-Harper Senator, actually sitting on the Committee that reviewed his group's costly trip to Dubai; Kenny and his friends reviewed himself, and found 'no abuse of the taxpayer'. Heh.

But, the Senate is refusing to change; it has sat on that 3 paragraph Motion passed by the House limiting terms to 8 years (rather than 45) for over a year. The Senate is starting to propose Motions. Remember, the Senate isn't accountable; we, the electorate, have no control over them. They are an elite upper class; the Medieval Lords who take our money and give us nothing.

Note also that the Liberals control the civil service - and the civil service is 'doing their bit' by an abnormal number of leaks and outright thefts from CPC documents and files. These include the Liberal theft of documents meant to be moved to CPC offices (Mark Holland); they include leaks (Monaghan; Committee Documents); and so on.

And the MSM - ahh, the MSM. There are the Liberal party faithful - Travers, Weston, Tabers, Riley, Newman, Mansbridge, Duffy - on and on and on. Anything from Canada Press will be hostile. And their attacks on Harper are relentless.

So- what is happening is that the Liberal Patronage system built up over the last generation, is being called into Obedience and Duty to their Masters. The Senate, the Civil Service and the MSM. All - unelected, unaccountable, and working for the Liberals. And not from the Liberal Party coffers. Oh no- We, the Taxpayer, are paying for the Liberal Partisan Agenda. Not the Liberal party - they've gotten around their lack of money by having us, the Taxpayer, pay for their Partisan propaganda.

The CPC pays for its own ads. The Liberals get the Taxpayer to pay - using the MSM, which they long ago bought by patronage.

OTTAWA (CP) - Liberal Leader Stephane Dion has been heckled off the stage at a labour protest rally in Ottawa.

Dion was taunted by several thousand unionized workers as he spoke on Parliament Hill, and was eventually drowned out by chanting. There were loud boos from the crowd as he left the gathering, with many people complaining about the Liberal party's stand against anti-scab legislation.

Jake Lombardo of Hamilton, Ont., accused Dion of double-speak as he taunted the Liberal leader.

Lombardo blamed the Liberals for launching policies that he says are costing Canadians jobs.

Has anyone else heard a bizarre commercial for Maple Leaf Simply Fresh products? I only heard it once this afternoon but I swear that they "interviewed" a "Mexican revolutionary" and he says how delicious the meals are and then something about capitalism not being so bad. Truly bizarre.
