Air Canada - no longer content with stranding passengers in their ongoing battle to curb C02! Update: another poll goes horribly wrong...
The CBC is caught in a fib over their airing of the Altar Boy Gang pilot.
It's not often an audience gets the chance to vote the loser back to a kidney dialysis.
And in late breaking tempest-in-a-blogpot news - David Maclean stands accused of employing pseudonyms to "harrass" left-wing blogs with such "hateful" comments as "Why didn't they put out an RFP for this?, "I don't hate the media." and "change the clocks for more light at night".
Well, I've seen enough - Go David!
(And - don't miss the cheerleading for "giant political mouse", led by "janfromthebruce", "ti-guy", "Zorpheous", "Red Tory", "Paladiea", "leftdog"....)
Busy day here, so add to the list in the comments.

Globe and Mail Poll today:
Would you spend more for an airline ticket with carbon offsets against the plane's emissions if that money went towards supporting not-for-profit projects to reduce greenhouse gasses?
Just for the record, I am NOT David Maclean. And a good thing too, his wife/girlfriend/dog whatever would be really confused. ~:D

In other news, a Palestinian refugee camp gets the lolapalooza blown out of it by government tanks this week, all week long, 18 civilians killed, and NOBODY CARES.
Why? Because they are Lebanese tanks. So much for the Caring Left.

Let Paladiea, Zorpheous and company chew on that a while.

Carbon offsets: the new hair shirt for the emotional greenie.
Soon every company will be fleecing these people at will, resulting in a new marketing paradigm: what do greenies feel guilty about, and how can we get them to pay a guilt tax for it?
Naturally, NewsMax Magazine would like to sell more subscriptions.
They have chosen to feature the ** Al Gore Warming spin** issue to do it.
Less than half the contents list: . .
* An expert's four common-sense "alternative cures" for global warming.
* Why a prominent MIT professor says global warming is an out-and-out fraud.
* Time magazine and Newsweek's dire warnings in 1974 — of another ice age!
* How the global warming scare is cool in Hollywood.
* What a leading U.S. expert told the Senate about the "science fiction" of a disappearing Arctic.
* Why we could actually be heading for a cooler, and not warmer, period. [I feel it! ]
* Vice President Gore's *reign of terror* against global warming skeptics.
* Why America's top hurricane expert doubts the hurricane-warming connection.
* How a clean energy source — which already exists — could eliminate the threat of global warming.
* And the bottom line for you: How global warming policies will mean more government, higher energy prices, and more costs and taxes to you!
* And much, much more.
This blockbuster edition of NewsMax Magazine addresses the key questions surrounding the controversy: Is global warming caused by human activity — and is it really happening at all?

Not to shift the focus too much, but the Caandian dollar has moved well above 93 cents U.S. The Globe and Mail article reporting on it is, by far, the most-commented about report in the Globe's Report on Business subdomain.
Question: I wonder if there will be any Catholic Suicde bombers blowing up innocent people around the world as it would seem justified after the Mohammed Cartoon fiasco last year.
Answer: Probably not, Catholics have evolved since the 9'th century. But because they won't Catholics are an easy target to be picked on by the MSM and the Left wing, wingy's.

No 4645 (64%)
on another G&M topic:
Headline this morning "PM accused of backing US version of Climate"
Comments section loaded the typical left Harper/Bush Bash, then the comments started changing as those that read the article found that the Title was Very Misleading as that was not the question asked of him by Dion in the HOC & Not the answer the PM gave.
Update It has been Pulled: The question now is has the G&M suceeded again in Creating an attack on the PM with their Misleading headline.
It worked to sway the headline readers!
A couple of years back, I called the airline about a special deal they had,Abbotsford to Kelowna, $89, pretty good price.
I asked how much the total was, and the agent was very evasive, and wouldn't give me a figure.
Finally, I said, "look ,I'm going to charge this to my credit card. How much will be charged to my card?" She replied, $147".
That included PST,GST,Airport Improvement taxes, Environment taxes, etc. Now they want to add a carbon offset charge, which will become mandatory as soon as the initial furore subsides.
Don't pay it, raise a fuss if necessary. We are taxed to death in this country, and these money grubbing swine can learn to cut corners, like by firing some of the many layers of management that plague every service government tries to run.
on the Air Canada e-check in page they ask if you want to buy some credits.
It is a yes / no option.
"Get Stuffed" or "Blow Me" weren't presented as choices.
I booked an Air Canada flight on-line today and wasn't asked if I wanted to buy carbon offsets. I split my air travel business between Air Canada and WestJet, and always book online....the first one of them to ask me about carbon offsets will lose my business....I suspect that it will be Air Canada.
If you need a end-of-day chuckle head on over to Cherniaks site and watch Stephanies pathetic response to why the libs did diddly-squat about Kyoto in the 13 years, Chernys even more pathetic praising of said response, and as an apertif see Cherny get his ass handed to him in the comments (again)

Am I to understand that the carbon offest question won't come up until I try to check in on-line next week?
Re: The link on CBC and The Altar Boy Gang....in it Little Mosque on the Prairie is mentioned....is that thing still going or has it been canned?
They can all shove their polls where the sun doesn't shine. They serve to manipulate and become fodder for the MSM. We know at this time the Conservatives are doing well but the MSM are speechless.
Has anyone heard any more about the Media's contention Harper will pull the plug on this session early?
It appears a poll conducted in PEI on the eve of the election served to meddle in the results.
Polls in that province do sway the voters because they are big on going with the flow for the usual reasons.
There should be no polls allowed anywhere near an election. Lazy people don't bother to read to find out what the hell's going on and go with polls.

His explanation of why the Liberals did nothing on climate change for 13 years is so far from reality that he oughta be given a psych exam.

The new Conservative attack ads are there.
The first ad has Dion stating that he is celebrated as a reho, meaning hero.....hilarious.
What smarmy schmucks at the CBC.
Despite their statements to the contrary, and the admission of their executive vice-president Richard Stursberg that it was “unlikely to appeal to audiences,” they were delighted to run the substandard pilot of "The Altar Boy Gang."
Unlike the sensitivity accorded to Muslims in "Little Mosque on the Prairie," the CBC allowed the desceration and ridicule of symbols and practices central to Catholocism and then defended their decision saying that they were "forced" to air it because it had been publicly funded.
What a pile of BS.
Broadcasters have discretion concerning what they air on their channels. The CBC was neither "forced" nor "required" to air "The Altar Boy Gang." They CHOSE, under the mendacious guise of it being "required," to air this anti-Catholic pilot, in order to heap ridicule and contempt on the Catholic Church, which they loathe.
The CBC is not open, tolerant, diverse, or multicultural, as it claims to be. It is a narrow, intolerant, biased, and bigoted public broadcaster, which airs programming only imicable to its world view, which often means that groups they do not favour are ridiculed and mocked.
What's really wrong with this picture is that those who are being mocked and ridiculed are also paying the bills.
It's time for a complete overhaul of the CBC.

I had never read anything on Cherniak's blog but was interested to listen to Dion's attempt to explain why the Liberals did nothing for 13 years. After finding out it was because of Harper, Klein and Harris the mystery was explained, who knew.
Cherniak's response to the eloquent commenters was absolutely childish. How old is this guy, 11. Why do people even give the slightest credence.
Three cheers for Air Canada!!! I've always thought there should be a "stupidity tax", and it warms my heart to learn that Air Canada has my back on this one.
Every dollar that buys a carbon offset is one less dollar in the Liberal campaign contribution coffers, nie?
We should smack David Mclean for having opinions, and expressing them? And by the way, getting two out of three ain't bad.

Iranian protesters shut down Iran cleric visit
Dozens of irate protesters yelling "shame," "murderers" and "terrorists" shouted down a Waterloo meeting last night that was intended to build peace.
About 50 protesters stood around the meeting hall at Conrad Grebel University College waiting for the dialogue between Mennonites and Muslim clerics from Iran to begin.
[...]
The protesters, Iranians and Afghans from the Greater Toronto Area, stayed mostly silent during the opening prayers.
They shuffled around and held aloft a gruesome photo gallery of torture victims, hangings and firing squad executions they say were taken in Iran.
But less than a minute into a talk by a Shiite Muslim cleric from the Imam Khomeini Education and Research Institute in Qom, Iran, the barrage of shouts erupted.
One by one at first, then hitting a crescendo of chanting "Down with the Islamic Republic of Iran!"
Rev. Brice Balmer, moderator of the meeting tried to calm the loud crowd.
"This is a religious conference," he pleaded.
But it was to no avail.
The verbal salvos kept flying from around the room while more than 100 people in the audience calmly waited for the meeting to continue.
After about 10 minutes, and some failed attempts to negotiate for the protesters to have their say, organizers called off the meeting.
Members of the panel rose from their table on the stage and headed for a side door -- the cat-calls turned into cheers.
"We made our point" said Rahmen Nejati, one of the more vocal protesters. "They are not welcome in Canada." ...-

Gathering the Tribes (Newsweek's first positive Iraq report in a very very long time)
Pungent smoke floats through the chandeliers of the tribal chief's reception room. At his home in Ramadi, capital of Anbar province and a onetime Iraqi insurgent stronghold, Sheik Shakir is enjoying after-dinner cigars with his guest of honor, battalion commander Lt. Col. Craig Kozeniesky of the 2/5 Marines. Around the room, Marines and Iraqi tribesmen and police are sitting together, swapping jokes and stories.
Some of these Iraqis were probably shooting at Americans less than a year ago. Now they and the Marines are fighting side by side against Al-Qaeda. "We are not just friends but also brothers," the sheik tells Kozeniesky. "This is a new beginning for both of us." Kozeniesky can only agree: "Things have changed dramatically."
A 5-year-old Iraqi boy in traditional robes and headdress is racing around the room and vaulting into U.S. troops' laps. What does he want to be when he grows up? He proudly announces: "American general named Steve!"
The success of the Ramadi experiment has given rise to hopes that the model can be applied elsewhere in Iraq. A year ago insurgents were launching nearly 30 attacks a day in the city; now the daily average is less than one. Anbar province as a whole is showing similar improvements.
From roughly 500 attacks a week, the rate has sunk to barely a third of that figure.
The insurgents are in retreat now, thanks largely to traditional tribal leaders who began trying to organize themselves in late 2005.
All 23 of the major tribes in and around Ramadi have joined the Awakening, according to Abdul Sattar's elder brother, Sheik Abu Rishah, who claims that more than 1 million of Anbar's 1.3 million people support the Awakening—"and it's spreading to other parts of Iraq." Last week the Awakening even sent envoys to Sadr City....-

Red Tory was caught sock puppeting, big time.
See the comments by biff here (long thread, but look for biff's hint halfway through):
http://tinyurl.com/2gzgug
and the analysis of Red Tory's sock puppetry by "mediate1" complete with links and analysis (on a Post where Red Tory chides Maclean no less):
http://tinyurl.com/yvlz7k
(scroll down to mediate1's analysis)
Also note Red Tory's attempt censure.
Kate this is almost seperate post worthy. So rich, so, so rich.
Mediate1's analysis of Red Tory's sock puppeting as "Red Butler" from the thread:
Background
- On his Jan. 16 post, Red Tory advises he will stop blogging. His stated reason is general frustration, trolling etc.
- He posts once on January 18th, and then reannounces he's back on January 30th. On his January 30th post Red Tory's stated reason for his hiatus is that he has had a heart attack. He resumes blogging thereafter.
- During the hiatus period the Red Butler site is opened. Red Butler posts as well as comments on other blogs, including conservative blogs ("trolling"). Red Butler also posts on Red Tory when Red Tory again operates.
- Red Butler eventually stops posting. Red Tory continues to blog to this day.
Specific Allegations
My review shows that all of the quotes sited by Biff were legitimate. Allegations or suggestions that Biff concocted quotes are unfounded (though Biff's antagonistic presentation of them was clearly unhelpful to his position).
On at least three seperate occaisions prior to the most recent thread below, Biff confronted Red Tory or Butler with the allegation that they were one and the same.
- on March 23rd on Red Tory, the relevant portion of Biff's charge is as follows:
"Was just at Dark Blue Tory's site. All the people that bitch and whine about "trolling" here....WERE TROLLING THERE. Love it! (oh and Red Tory (or Red Butler))"
here: http://tinyurl.com/36nd6f
- on Feb, 1 on Red Tory, Biff stated as follows:
"Except,
the implication was totally dishonest,
as is your attempt to cover it up.
Eh Red Butler."
here: http://tinyurl.com/38tpje
That was the post Gayle referred to as well. And, as was previously pointed out, Red Butler appeared within the hour and made two comments.
In the above two incidents Red Tory does not deny the suggestions, or inquire as to what Biff was referring to.
Also on Feb. 1 Biff confronts Red Butler who is commenting on Chuckercanuck, as follows, commencing with Red Butler's comment:
"Harper will stop at nothing til he has an iron grip over the lives of all Canadians. and Conservatives will eat it up like it is gravy, never acknowledging that it is in fact SHIT. How do you like that manure hanging off your lips, HarperCons? It is pretty ugly from over here, let me tell you. Get a napkin and WAKE UP!!

Red Tory's Defence and Analysis
The principal defence by (and on behalf of by his supporters) Red Tory, is that the start up of one blog around the same time is purely coincidental and means nothing. As well they cite writing styles.
It is true that the start up of one does not mean they are one and the same. However, as with any other situation in which coincidences are combined, the statistical probability of unrelatedness decreases exponentially with each successive "coincidence".
In the instant case, while Biff's agressive tone and over-the-top language was unfortunate, when all the factors are combined it becomes highly unlikely that Red Tory is not Red Butler.
The advent of Red Butler during Red Tory's hiatus, in an of itself raises questions. Particularily considering that out of the thousands of blogs covering a wide spectrum of topics and interests, Red Butler appeared to frequent (troll) precisely the same blogs as Red Tory frequented, including Red Tory. Also, as Red Tory began to re emerge, so too did Red Butler cease his blogging.
d
It is with this backdrop that we find specific incidents in which Red Tory/Butler is confronted with the apparant sameness, and no denial is offered. Indeed on the Feb. 1 comment on Chuckercanuck there appears to be a tacit, if not an overt admission. To put matters in further perspective, considering all of the blogs, and all of the comments of all of the blogs out there, within the hour of Biff accusing Red Tory of being Red Butler on Feb 1 on Red Tory, Red Butler shows up, with no comment from Red Tory inquiring what Biff is talking about, notwithstanding that Red Butler wasn't on the thread at the time.
Particularily troubling is the fact that on yesterday's thread, Red Tory claimed ignorance of the name "Mr. Butler" after Red Tory had been repeatedly confronted with the "Red Butler" accusation in the past. His denial is as follows:
"Anonymous said...
Mr. Butler I presume.
Oh you know.
You know.
Sunday, May 27, 2007 6:52:00 PM
Red Tory said...
I'm waiting...
And no. I'd don't know.
Sunday, May 27, 2007 7:04:00 PM
Anonymous said...
Wow, really keeping it up."
Conisider also the similarities in tastes in art (as pointed out by KNB) the same vigourous opposition to conservatism, even the use of the name "Red" as a prefix. As for the suggestion of different writing styles, the tone of the posts appear to be simply a slightly more aggressive form of Red Tory's posts (though strikingly similar to Red Tory's comments which are more informal and aggressive).
All of the factors when combined make it highly unlikly, indeed from a statistical probability perspective, nearly impossible, that these are all one collective coincidence.
Red Tory is, with near certainty of probability, Red Butler.
It would be in the interests of all for Biff to apologize for the aggressive manner in which he persued this. As for Red Tory/Butler, it would be in his interests to admit this act. While "sockpuppetry" is mildly offensive (although admittedly moreso to some than others) dishonesty is a far more serious offence, even in the informal world of blogging. Red Tory's credibility is at stake.
I find it very theraputic going a few rounds with the game on the front page here: http://www.nodemocraticprocess.com/

The new green scam that air canada is touting will contribute your carbon purchase to a company called Zerofootprint. They have a website, google it,I can't provide a link. I learned that I have a carbon footprint of 11.47 tonnes, well above average.Even though I drive 10,000 kms. a year, live in an apartment, and only fly a couple times a year to warm places. Fortunately, for only $10 a tonne I can buy peace of mind. Yes,if I send them $120,I can sleep at night for the next year. They assure you that the money will go to buy offsetting carbon credits. WTF,Air Canada should be ashamed of itself, coercing thier dwindling customer base to finance an obvious swindle. Someone remind me again why Westjet is profitable.

The passport used by notorious Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann to enter Argentina in 1950 has been found by accident in an archive in Buenos Aires.
The passport, still in good condition, was issued by the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva.
Eichmann was one of the main executors of Adolf Hitler’s ‘final solution’, the Nazi genocide of Jews during World War II. ...-

I'm accused of having 6 or 7 different alias' running from IP addresses in several different cities, in three different provinces from service providers I have never heard of (which don't even provide service in Saskatchewan).
I supposedly have the technical ability to switch computers, cloak my IP address and shift it to faraway cities.
I'm also accused of having friends or co-workers "troll" on my behalf while I am doing a live, province-wide radio interview.
All this and I still have time to take in a little league game!

[Joseph Smith is the Mormons]
Yes, Hugo Chavez shows how democracy and tyranny can be one and the same. He is also repeating history. There was once a man who ran the biggest city in Illinois as an elected dictator. A printing press running defamatory articles against him, so he ordered it destroyed. No, I’m not talking about Mr. Richard Daley of Chicago, but Mr. Joseph Smith of Nauvoo.
Of course, since Mr. Smith was martyred, his intolerance for dissent can be conveniently ignored. Although destroying printing presses was quite common in Illinois and Missouri at the time, Mr. Smith’s candidacy for the Presidency of the United States invited press attention at a time when any perceived intolerance for dissent would be disastrous for his sect. And the negative publicity was so disastrous for his sect that Mr. Smith wound up dead. (As late as the 1970’s, a newspaper in Altoona, Kansas was firebombed and permanently put out of business; violent intolerance against the press isn’t just long ago or far away…)
When a religious leader silences the press in a city under his control (whether it was the murder of the poetess Asma in Medina, Calvinist Geneva’s judicial murder of Michael Servetus, the Roman Inquisition of Pope Paul IV, or the destruction of the Expositor in Nauvoo), there is a limit to the sympathies of outsiders for such a religious leader, for it is clear he exhibits no patience for sincere dialogue but only for the sterile press releases of religious authority. So it is for Hugo Chavez. He seeks the mantle as heir to Fidel Castro and wants no voice other than his own to be heard.
Will Mr. Chavez go the way of Joseph Smith or Julius Caesar? Unlikely, but possible. Like Julius Caesar, Mr. Chavez pushes his enemies to the limits of their patience, forcing them to either concede perpetual dictatorship to him or a glorious assassination to write him into history.
Let’s hope Mr. Chavez meets an inglorious end that cannot pretend to be martyrdom. ...-
