That picture of Rosie is priceless.
What amazes me is her ability to play the victim.
Even though Elizabeth Hasselback isnt the brightest bulb in the house she nailed it when she called Rosie O D on not answering her own rhetorical question.
It is a cheap and intellectually lazy parlour trick to ask a controversial rhetorical question like, there are 650,000 dead Iraqi's since the invasion....who is really the terrorist....and then try to claim that your are amazed anyone would think you were implying that american troops were terrorists....
She deserves whatever downward sprial she is on, assuming she is even on one.
Sad that she is valued for her ratings even though she makes idiotic comments like that and the 9/11 conspiracy theory stuff....which never did get followed up. Likely because she was bellowing in the background that she didnt actually mean to imply what she implied.
Rosie has offically jumped the shark
Now when I read this headline my first impression is that the ambush killed two dozen Allied troopers.

Seems like a reasonable conclusion right?

Thunder rolls, tears rain on Vietnam vets' parade
THE ponytails might have greyed, and they're not as lithe as they were 40 years ago, but for the Harley-riding Vietnam veterans who descend on Washington for Memorial Day, it's a chance to remember and reflect on the war that changed their generation.
An estimated 400,000 motorcyclists swarmed the capital at the weekend for the 20th Rolling Thunder event. Many were veterans sporting leather vests advertising their platoon, their tour of duty, fallen comrades — and their devotion to their Harley-Davidson.
Some had ridden across the US in a pilgrimage to "the Wall", the name given to the stark yet moving monument that records the names of the 58,000 US servicemen who died in Vietnam.
Others had come from closer states. Like Jim Burgess, from Florida. He flew reconnaissance planes out of Thailand along the Ho Chi Minh Trail.
"I got 10 people up on the Wall — one from my squadron. You gotta come and visit them once in a while," he said.
Ben Ompad served at the Phan Rang Air Base alongside Australian servicemen in 1967-68. "They were flying Canberras (bombers) back in those days, and I was like an adopted son," he said....-

Just returned to the UK from a week in Canada (scouting for a house as I'm moving back this summer).
Saw Mayor Miller on TV decrying the pernicious proximity of the US and all the handguns flowing across the border to kill our schoolchildren.
I found that interesting. Here in the UK, handgun crime and death would put Canada to shame. Three interesting "factoids":
1. Handguns are illegal in the UK. Even the police don't routinely carry them. Essentially, only criminals are free to carry handguns (because of course, the law doesn't apply to them: they're criminals!).
2. The Atlantic Ocean is a considerably larger body of water than Lake Ontario; how are all those handguns getting from the US to the streets of London, Birmingham and Manchester?
3. You will not be surprised to know that most of the perpetrators and victims of handgun deaths tend to be Jamaican "yardies" (members of Afro-Caribbean gangs).
Huh.
Words escape me...

America Dishonors Her War Dead On Memorial Day

"... environmentalism seeks the destruction of the energy base of the modern world, along with the elimination or radical reduction in the supply of all goods and services that depend on it."
The Arithmetic of Environmentalist Devastation
Ludwig von Mises Institute ^ | 5/23/2007 | George Reisman
A major demand of the environmental movement, put forward as essential to combating global warming, is the imposition of a massive rollback in global emissions of carbon dioxide accompanied by a freeze on such emissions at the sharply reduced level imposed.
In this spirit, Britain's Stern Review, published in the fall of 2006, seeks a reduction of 25 percent by the year 2050. Going considerably further, the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has urged a 60 percent reduction.
Such pronouncements can be made openly and repeatedly only because the immense majority of people do not take the trouble to understand their implications. They do not because what is required to do so is a combination of making connections between various facts and performing calculations. These are activities that are widely perceived as onerous. Nevertheless, this level of thinking is essential if people are to understand the implications of environmentalism's demands.
In purely verbal terms, those implications are that environmentalism seeks the destruction of the energy base of the modern world, along with the elimination or radical reduction in the supply of all goods and services that depend on that energy base. It seeks this on the grounds that these goods and the energy on which they depend entail the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. The goods and services in question are air conditioners, automobiles, airplane travel, housing, food, clothing, refrigerators, freezers, television sets, telephones, washers, dryers, books, computers—everything that depends on the production and use of oil, coal, or natural gas, which all release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere in being burned. The destruction of the energy base and the production of goods and services is implied by the fact that in order to rollback the emission of carbon dioxide, it is necessary to rollback the production and use of energy in these forms. But rolling back the production and use of energy reduces the production of goods and services.
Turning now to the arithmetic of environmentalist destruction, I will proceed to calculate the extent of the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions per person that is entailed in the environmentalist demands. This will serve as a guide to the extent of the reduction in the production and use of energy per person and thus as a guide to the reduction in the production of goods and services per person. Proceeding in this way, it will be very easy to prove that environmentalism seeks the destruction of the energy base of the modern world, along with the elimination or radical reduction in the supply of all goods and services that depend on it.
Let me start with the 25 percent reduction in global carbon dioxide emissions urged by the Stern Review. ...-

Finally
The TO Star has run an article (Tues) questioning the wisdom efficacy of Official Multiculturalism in Canada. If Harper is tuned in - he might do well to get off the instant/high powered move to green and get on this one.
I have about given up on any move to reduce Official Multiculturalism federally to "small m" multiculturalism (integration with allowances for reasonable accomodation) and really only believe that it can be done at the provincial level mow - if it is to be done at all.
The extreme political correctness mode we find ourselves in today was initiated by Trudeau et al, perpetuated by Mulroney et al, and simply has to be taken apart by Harper et al (the Liberals sure are not about to do it now or anytime in the future) before we end up like to many places in Europe.
Australia seems to have moved to legislate important factors that "must be accepted" by those wanting to immigrate to Australia. Read integrate.
It is about integration and not this mythical beast that has been forced on decades of public school teachers (hence on society generally over the decades)- that of Canada a a Mosaic. Teachers had to/still do use prescribed text books and since at least 1984 in Alberta, those prescribed text books in Social Studies include the concept of Trudeau's mosaic.
It is now up to the younger baby boomers who basically know nothing other than this concept to really put the question to themselves - is it (the mosaic concept) working for you and your children now or does it have to change significantly.
The Trudeau concept of the Mosaic was born out of nothing more than that we in Canada must have something unlike that big, bad, U.S. (melting pot -read integration) so let's invent a new model of social engineering and call it the mosaic.

ORCAS ISLAND, Wash. - Vandals burned dozens of small American flags that decorated veterans’ graves for Memorial Day and replaced many of them with hand-drawn swastikas, authorities said Monday.
Forty-six flag standards were found empty and another 33 flags were in charred tatters Sunday in the cemetery, authorities said. Swastikas drawn on paper appeared where 14 of the flags had been.
Members of the American Legion on this island off Washington’s northwest coast replaced the burned flags with new ones Sunday afternoon.
The vandals struck again on Memorial Day after a guard left at dawn, the San Juan County sheriff’s office said. This time, the vandals left 33 of the hand-drawn swastikas.

In papers filed to the Federal Court on behalf of Friends of the Earth Canada, it is alleged the government is violating Canadian law by failing to meet the international agreement to cut greenhouse-gas emissions.
