So the Liberals are proud of their intensity targets?
ANd when was a growing economy a problem....Wow what a headline that would make
Dion Says, "Growing Economy A Problem"
13 years of nothing...nothing but kleptocrats helping themselves to the nation's confiscated wealth.
..uh, I think we got it Jason...that's why Canadians put Harper to guard the public purse.
Well, that certainly explains it is plain english... NOT! So the Lieberals made all these technical advances in refining and transportation? Next thing they will takes credit for the sun rising in the east.
With this bozo as leader, I am still amazed that the Adscam, etc party is not in the toilet behind the Dippers. Must be one heck of a lot of Romanian strippers... err supporters out there.
How many bareels was that again? A Constishnal crisis?
And the internet, they invented that too, didn't they?? :^))
The message is being spread. Not sure it's getting out, though; possibly Cherniak should face reality and post a transcription.
What's a "buh reel"?
Seriously, if you're going to pontificate on energy policy, wouldn't you take a few minutes to learn to pronounce "barrel" correctly?
Thanks!
What a load!
"Mr. Gore said it's a fraud, it means it's a fraud."
This from the genius that has the gall to call the Prime Minister's position on the issue "rich".
It's still hard for me to believe leftists really take Kyoto, Gore, or even Dion seriously at all.
Conservatives should consider this political movement for what it is, a blessing. No total fraud can maintain it's illusion indefinitely, and when the curtain finally drops it's gonna be incredibly humiliating for leftists everywhere...
Hey, Jason
I totally agree with you. I think this should be the official line that the liberals carry into the next election. How could they be expected to reduce greenhouse gases when they were so busy increasing the efficiency of oil production by 45%.
This increased efficiency has helped the western economy and by default, the entire Canadian economy tremendously. I'm certain that, once you get the word out that it was the liberal climate change plan that made this possible, all Albertan voters will be flocking to the polls to vote liberal.
This is typical Cherniak brilliance!
What language was that?
Could someone please provide this idiot with an English-French dictionary.
Disgusting!
Could someone please provide this idiot with an English-French dictionary.
Disgusting!
Well, guess the Liberals can't afford their own ads, so this is the best we get to see? Only lefties believe that the Liberals did anything to fight greenhouse gasses, but it's easier to fight a fake gas then it is to fight real pollution.
I really, really tried to listen, but he lost me when he kept talking about olive oil. Is that what he said? I have absolutely no idea. How can anyone take this guy seriously??? It's absurd to think that he could potentially lead this country.
I agree 1000%, getting messages out like this as often as possible is the best thing that could happen to the conservative, oops, I mean Liberal party. Bring them on!
That's one of the best threads I've seen on Cherny's for some time now, for the pure entertainment!
And I always get a charge out of how lawyer types sound when the try to pretend they know the in's & out's of how industry works, real knee-slappers they are! I've dealt with a few on both sides of the fence on corporate cases, trying to get them to understand how industry works was both frustrating and at the same time a good source of laughter.
Skal!
Mr. Gore said "it's a frog?"
Posters need to do better than just ridicule M. Dion's English. As for being an "idiot", he's undoubtedly more intelligent than most people posting to this site this evening.
JCl (6:25 pm): No, it was Al Gore that invented the internet.
Richard, although his comprehension of Canada's other official language is pretty bad considering he wants to be leader of all of Canadas, it is his gum flapping while not saying anything coupled with the indignant jab at the Conservatives, Alliance, Reform and maybe Bush (can't be sure)that really irritates me. I am also truly amazed that you know the intelligence level of SDA readers. Did you take a poll?
So Dion thinks the Liberals were responsible for a 45% decrease in amount of emissions per barrel of oil produced? And he thinks that is defined as energy efficiency? And he thinks that if the Conservative policy is a fraud because he alleges it was copied from the Liberals, that does not mean that the Liberal policy was itself a fraud?
This is not a language problem Dion has. It's a credibility problem.
Whose puppet is this guy? I can see the strings.
Richard is right, let's keep the posts civilized. Name calling cheapens the interchange of ideas.
Is Cherniak a fanatic, a moron, or both?
He says about the clip - "I thought his answer was close to perfect".
I thought the answer, was inept and non-responsive to the question.
Cherniak also figures that Harper "runs the most partisan government in Canadian history."
Ignorant doesn't even scratch the surface with this guy. He and Antonia would make quite the couple.
I dont have a comment per se...I will just refer to the responding comments on Jason's blog regarding that post.
LMAO ROFL
So let me get this straight.
First, the Liberals had majorities until 2004. And they couldn't put measures in place because Klein and Harris and Harper were going to take them to court? OK - so? were the Liberals afraid of the outcome? were the Liberals that weak in their own beliefs when they signed the Kyoto agreement?
Second, Al Gore "said so" - is supposed to mean what exactly in Canada? Al Gore is not a scientist. Al Gore is not Canadian. Al Gore is not exactly a shining example of conserving natural resources and respecting the environment - he owns 3 gigantic homes; he uses fuel to travel; he diverts money into his friends' eco-offset company (which is just an aggregate of takeover companies.
OK Jason C. please tell me why your party has stooped to this low level, as to get a multi-million egotistical eco-sinner to be your party's spokesperson on our Canadian environmental policies.
oooohhhh.....that made me nauseous......
and this thing(I wouldn't call it a man) wants to be PM of Canada?
be afraid..........be very afraid!
I am starting to hope that somehow Dion and the Liberals get back into power. It would truly be the death of the Librano family in Canada. While Dion may be intellectually incapable of Adscamming millions of dollars from the Canadian public, his inept and inneffectual governance of this country would surely be enough to convince the good people of Toronto that the Liberals should never be given the reigns of power again, right? Ummm yeah. I wouldn't bet on it.
Better stick with the pseudo-conservatives for now.
Let's give credit where credit is due. Sometimes doing nothing (but naming a dog Kyoto) is the best option ... I think that was what dion was trying to say.
Is dion gore's bitch or what?
Brilliant young comedian! That guy does a French Canadian politician better than anyone I've ever seen!
Move over Rich Little, there's a new guy in town!
Hey Jason,
While you are us Dion's a$$ please let us know if that is where he pulled the 45% figure from. Will ya?
Hey Jason,
While you are up Dion's a$$ please let us know if that is where he pulled the 45% figure from. Will ya?
Hey Richard, tell you what... I'm willing to take a validly administered IQ test along with you, or Jason Cherniak, or Stephane Dion for $3,000 to the person who scores higher.
No strings, just have it administered by a university psychologist with valid testing experience who's not related to Dion.
Sound fair? Until then, don't denigrate the intellect of SDA posters who rightly point out that your leader can't speak English.
I struggled through the clip and don't want to see it again, but...did he say that the Conservatives stole the Liberal plans and Gore said the Conservative plans (that the liberals wrote) were a fraud?
Dion will find out in next election that your statements get challenged. He will have to explain how nothing was done with majority government, but Tories supposed to change world with minority. He will have to explain specifically what his great plan was and why Canada signed on to Kyoto reductions far more than was required, then did NOTHING. He will have to explain why he has no policies, other than those he can cook up during election. campaign. Maybe he will promise to remove the notwithstanding clause or ban handguns, two recycled Lib power ideas that went nowhere last time.
In fact this guy will have to explain Afghan policy, economic policy, Senate reform policy, etc. That is why we aren't in an election right now; the Libs are waiting for "the big one" they can blame on Tories and ride to power. Think of it, we need some kind of disaster, like really bad casualty count in Afghan, for Liberals to win back power. That is leadership.
The NDP are as stupid as nails right now. Peter Van Loan showed how Libs have stalled Senate Reform bill for over year (Goodale says two Liberal provinces NB and PEI representing small percentage of Canadians against it, yet they haven't bothered to confer with them). Libby Davis then starts blathering on about proportional representation, apparently the reform Canadians (in Layton language hard lefties) want, not changes to Senate terms.
Doesn't NDP know Libs will turn on them in election, they are fighting for the same vote. Dion has marginalized his party (many BTW upset about his Senate flip flop and other top down decisions), appealing to anti-US, Gore loving moonbats, and actually expects to win power.
Let's have an election and put Dionsky out of ours, and his, misery.
Jason,
I'm not here to insult your guy's grasp of english.
My problem is that M. Dion it trying to paint a picture depicting the Cons as blocking Liberal efforts to address Kyoto. The Liberals had, post Kyoto signing, at least 7 years of unrestrained majority government plus the Martin months to implement whatever plan they pleased. The Libereals, at the risk of repeating myself, could have done anything but choose to do nothing.
Dion should not try to shift blame by misrepresenting history.
One more point. Anyone noticed when Liberals have failed to take action in past, and has no policies now, it's always SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT.
What a maroon! Words fail me, but this clip was the laugh of the day!
Cherniak, I would have buried this rather than showcase my pathetic leader on one of Canada's most popular blogs. The Conservatives don't need to run their million dollar "NOT A LEADER" campaign when you will do their work for free.
I feel as though I've been deeped in a bareel of oil after that!
Ontario? You do realize that Dion's slaggin' you; Harris and Klein in the same breathe? He hates you too. Because you build the cars that use the oil and gas. Darn your industries that so many rely on.
Let's all be professorial sport fisher's. That'll improve the GDP and standards of living allright.
Dion didn't answer the question; instead, he set up a fictional narrative.
First, he claimed that the technological advances in the refining of oil, and in the manufacture of cars - were due to the Liberals! Wow. What incredible arrogance. And he expects us to accept that?
Second, his attempt to locate blame for the Liberal inaction by stating that the "Reform, Alliance, Conservatives' were blocking the alleged Liberal Motions is another lie. As many have pointed out, the Liberals had a majority gov't for all of this period. No other party could block their Motions. The truth is, they didn't have any plan.
Third, Dion ignores the truth about the Conservative rejection of Kyotoism - which is that the Conservatives do not reject climate change per se, they reject anthropogenic climate change, ie, Kyotoism. And, state that Kyotoism is a money transference scheme that has nothing to do with the environment. Dion leaves this important fact out of his statement -he just says that the Conservatives reject 'climate change'. That's a lie.
Fourth, is Dion serious about setting up Al Gore as a valid expert on climatology? That's a very stupid assertion.
Fifth, as others have pointed out, if Dion agrees with Gore that the Conservative plan is a 'fraud' and Dion claims that the Conservative plan is a copy of the Liberal plan - then, logically, the Liberal plan was/is alos a 'fraud'. Or is it the case that Dion doesn't know anything about basic logic?
Sixth, Dion didn't answer the question - the Liberals didn't do anything about climate change. They could have; they had a majority; they didn't.
If in the next election the east gives us this franco ninny goof they can have him and the whole of Canada that elects him.
THE WEST WANTS OUT.
harper's cat fetish leaves him vulnerable...
harper's cat fetish leaves him vulnerable...
hahahahaha
What the hell is a "soap pail"?
What the heck is a "soap pail green plan"? Could he be talking about the slop pail plan he didn't get around to putting out and is now blaming on the Alliance, Reform and Conservatives?
Three different parties over the span of 13 plus years of Majority Liberal rule and he has the colossal gall to blame the other parties for his own inaction and outright failure on the file.
For Dion to tell us that because Gore says the Conservative plan is a "fraud" it must be so says much about the caliber of Dion's judgment on the matter.
The English language is the least of his problems, he simply has no clue.
Let's see if I got this straight.
Increasing population
= increased consumption
= increased production
= increased pollution
= increased wailing from the Left
= increased (carbon) taxation to pretend it can be fixed
= increased decimation of the free capitalist societies of Earth
= an eventual totalitarian world of warring peasants trying to get enough food
= rapidly decreasing populations with anarchy
Is that about it?
While it's uncool to to mock or call Mr. Dion names, bringing attention to his halting English is a perfectly valid point. I am thinking if Harper spoke French as poorly as Dion speaks English, the MSM would be talking of little else.
Dion states that GHG emissions rose, even with better technology in vehicles, because there were more vehicles on the road.
So, if the real problem is more vehicles on the road, how exactly, will he deal with that, without crashing the economy?
Yup, this trailer’s a keeper.
