Democracy By Doer

Right in Manitoba;

The part of the quote that caught my attention though is the fact that Gary Doer feels that polls are undemocratic. This has not however stopped the NDP from spending their money on polls an it has also not stopped the NDP from spending taxpayers money to conduct polls. Of course the NDP has refused to release any stats from the polls conducted on the taxpayers dime. Criticism of this has caused the NDP to introduce legislation that will add government polls to the documents which can be obtained through freedom of information.

So it appears that polls according to Doer are only undemocratic when they are not commissioned by the NDP. While this attitude by the NDP should come as no surprise to anyone.

Here is the real kicker though. Gary Doer and gang have no problem hiring Viewpoints Research Ltd.* to do polls on behalf of the NDP and Manitoba government. A company that is owned by Ginny Devine who just happens to be Gary Doer's wife!

Forget polls. Check the horoscope!

Manitobans vote tomorrow. For what, nobody seems quite sure.

Of course not this one sided conversation/debate is the "new democracy" of the ND party.

...they have always advocated the "new democracy"..that's the democracy which has only one side, one Ideal, one party state....as opposed to the "old" democracy which opens a level dialogue for multiple opinions.

The "new" democracy belives in diversity for everything but opinion.

WLMR....I think you forgot to add "in diversity for everything but opinion....also truth, facts, figures, etc.

Doer picked the election day to engineer a low turnout!
It is well established that low voter turnout favours the incumbent. That is why the day after the Victoria day weekend was chosen.

Worrying about low turnout at this point is a sign of real confusion. Of course low turnout of NDP supporters could be a problem for him.

Should it surprise anyone that Doers wife also got polling contracts from Crocus?
Funny how as Doer was changing legislation to prop up Crocus, his wife was getting the polling contracts from Crocus and Worker compensation, both were controlled by Wally Fox Descent.

In spite of the fact that Hurricane Hughie and the Manitoba PC's really come across as NDP-lite, I don't have any choice but to vote for them. They are the closest thing to a conservative party we have in an election cluttered by moonbat-lite and moonbat-extreme parties.

The unintended laughs are being provided by the blast from the past wackos, the old Communist Party of Canada I thought had been made extinct by the new "progressives". Received their campaign brochure a couple of days ago:

"Put people and nature before profit, vote for real change, vote Communist!"

"Stop the big business destruction of Manitoba!"

"Resistance is growing - Act now to survive!"

"Earn $15.00 an hour (at least) and have a 32 hour work week with no loss in pay!"

"Tax the greedy, not the needy!"

"Peace is everybody's business!"

"Lift the ban on union donations to political parties; keep the ban on corporate donations."

"Turn Winnipeg's CP rail yard into housing and parks."

"Reverse the privatization of MTS."

...and much, much more for your badly needed election campaign humour. At least they aren't advertising on the taxpayers' dollars and hiring the Premier's wife to do their polling. And you don't see them getting any free political advertising from the Nurses' Union.

Hugh McFadyen IS A DOPE

Too funny. McFadyen, in an obviously losing clause, begs Manitobans to vote for him because Gary Doer might not complete a full term.

Translation: Yes, yes. Doer is a much better premier than I'd ever be. But, who knows? Maybe I'd be better than the next guy?

Doer commissions polls using a company owned by his wife!!???

Jaysus, I thought we had corruption out here,(BC) by past NDP governments, but this takes the prize!

A prominent Manitoba Liberal told me , back in the 80's, that Manitoba, my home province, had passed
the economic stage where more than 50% of its citizens earned their wages directly, or indirectly, from the government.

This indicates a state in near Third World condition, without the generous "equalization" payments from Provinces that dare to be productive.

Lower taxes, reverse socialism, settle the land claims, clean up crime, then invite the world to come and do business with you. "Try it, you'll like it".

Not much of a challenge for a group of politicians that allege they are the "best and brightest".

Good luck, Olde Sod, you're going to need it.

I predict there will be more coverage of the by-election in Ralph's riding than who wins in MB tomorrow.

Gary Doer's secret weapon has always been Mcfayden. Every time Doer opens his mouth Mcfayden reach's for a new set of pampers.

It's down right embarrassing, the man has no back bone and has spent most of the campaign to the left of Doer. He's as anti-business(Olywest)as any NDP'er, and loves state run enterprises(hydro)even more than the die hard socialists. And his vote for me and I'll bring back the Jets is right out there in moon-bat, la, la land.

This is not Conservatism, it's outright capitulation to the socialist agenda.

From what I've read and seen, Gary Doer, in mannerisms and agenda, is not unlike a Richard Nixon of the left. Make of this what you will.

Felis @2:28"....I don't have any choice but to vote for them." Also my sentiment, unfortunately it does look as though we'll have another four years of NDP misfeasance.
This goes quite a few years to the Schreyer era, but I was just out of university and eagerly anticipating voting for the first time (age of majority was 21 then)& had decided to vote NDP. Did a complete about face however when I came home after work one day & my landlady told me about the door-to-door that the local NDP candidate had conducted that day. His main campaign point?....if the conservatives get in they will take away your pension! I have never again viewed the NDP as anything other than odious!

We know there are -40C below conservatives. Will there be "severe thunderstorm / torrential rain / hail / funnel cloud" conservatives in Manitoba tomorrow?

Rrather than vote NDP or PC I declined my ballot!!
