An Inconvenient Knob
: by Junker
My personal limo slipped through the cool Tennessee evening. The soft glow of Nashville burned gently behind me as my driver expertly guided the large vehicle through the city suburbs. Ahead I could just make out my final destination. It was a home, larger than most, and indeed, the biggest in the neighborhood. All along its lengthy drive tall lamp posts pierced the blanketing darkness with splashes of light. The home itself stood in near daylight, bathed in countless lights that dazzled that eyes. Around its base a gaggle of limo’s identical to my own sat dispersed here and there. Normally, I preferred to travel by less conspicuous means, but the host had insisted, and sometimes one must comply to the insistent needs of blogging, and go where it guides.
I stepped out onto the cobblestone drive and embraced the sharp cool air. It was certainly unseasonably cold for Nashville this time of year, and it reminded me of home. Unconsciously I straightened my tux and strode confidently toward the entrance. The outward confidence I displayed was nothing more than a bluff, a cheap trick I had learned over years of doing this sort of thing. Inside I dreaded the prospect of an evening at this particular shindig. Still, my blog readers demanded, and I would certainly try to deliver.

Pretty good for a 15 year old.
This is a spoof right?
... yes
Well Kate, speaking as one of the down troddin, I have always held the view that any relationship between education and intelligence is purely coincidental.
Got that from my dad. A good Saskatchewan boy from Landis ;)
Great link!
I didn't submit that one. Paul of Cjunk has been kind enough to help fill in while I was away.
Doh! Gotta remember to finish reading things....
One awaits the screen treatment.

"Dario Franchitti, No. 27
Team: Andretti Green. Car: Dallara-Honda. Pos.: 3. Comment: Can he finally win this race and be known as more than Ashley Judd's husband?"
Actually, Dario is best known to informed (or interested) people as a very good race driver, with an Italian name, who is in fact Scottish and speaks with a lovely Scots accent.
The facts...

I watch 'The Great Global Warming Swindle' on You Tube this weekend. It was the first time I had heard GW science discussed instead of consensus.
And for those that do believe in man made global warming, take a look here
II am getting really annoyed with the air time that Gore gets as an advocate of climate change and how great this man is and how the US would be a utopian society had he been president.....blah, blah, blah
He's been a great activist of the environment for so long, as he proclaims, yet nothing was done of any substance while he was the VP. He's peddling a new book looking at the loss of reason in US politics and how the media doesn’t question authority, yet ignores people who question his “science” and his “consensus” beliefs.
Although I disdain Bush, I find that he’s been saddled unfairly with 9/11. The terrorist groups were well known as far back as 93 yet nothing was done to eliminate these threats that were very real (see embassy bombings in Africa). Clinton/Gore spent 2 terms in the White House and nothing was done, where is their burden in all of this?
It bothers me to no end when politicians become self-righteous after they've left office; where were these conviction when they were in power? Why doesn't anyone call them on it? All I want from our political leaders is to govern with honesty and integrity, will this ever happen?
