“The storm prevented the use of solar ovens for a potluck picnic, Stiller said.”
Back to work;

Evidence of the economic impact of the labor dispute emerged when Statistics Canada said a 15-day strike in February helped shrink the value of manufacturing shipments by 0.2 percent in February from January.
New Democratic Member of Parliament Charlie Angus said the strike’s economic impact was not enough grounds to override the collective bargaining process. “That’s what strikes are. They have economic impact,” the Ontario lawmaker said.

Ottawa Citizen“It’s time to ask what secret agendas exist on the left. Green party leader Elizabeth May is no doubt repulsed by Mr. Potvin’s views on 9/11, but how many others in her party are sympathetic to Mr. Potvin’s crazed anti-Americanism?”

  1. Dumping Stephane Dion might seem like the obvious thing to do, but if I were a Liberal I’d certainly think twice before pushing for that.
There are only forty or fifty — maybe sixty at most — Liberal MPs who could do as capable a job as Mr. Dion.
The numbers just aren’t there yet. The LPC should wait until every Liberal MP is blatantly more capable than Mr. Dion before they even think of making any rash moves. And in the meantime they need understand that whoever replaces him won’t be a Stephane Dion.

  2. One has to worry somewhat about what seems to be a worsening self destruction of the Liberal Party under Dion and various players with Potvin treason and Belinda loyalty..
While I have not been a Liberal supporter for ten years or so, the complete deflation of the Liberal Party seems somehow Un-Canadian. Liberalism before Trudeau seemed constructive and often wise. The last 13 years have been a disaster in fraud and corruption, total lack of ethics and the Auditor General*s inability to discover fraud until it is reported in the media.
When there are lists of 100 frauds as in *Scamslist* on the net, one would guess that those who do vote Liberal may not be aware of current events or may not have internet accesss or watch too much Dr. Phil and Jerry Springer TV. = TG

Some Are More Equal Than Others
How does gun control work in other countries? There is one case with which I am familiar. In the Philippines where gun ownership is theoretically highly restricted, a private permit to possess a firearm is a highly coveted status symbol. It’s a society where some are more equal than others and that extends to firearms. According to the BBC:
There are more than 800,000 licensed gun owners in the Philippines, but millions more firearms are owned illegally. … Although carrying guns in public is already illegal, there are a multitude of exemptions. Movie stars, judges, politicians and those living under death threats are all currently exempt.
Not only does the number of unlicensed weapons dominate the distribution, but these are preponderantly used in the commission of crimes….-

  11. I’m getting the warm fuzzies over the Librano family feud and the contract they have on Citizen Dijon.
Watching the Librano capos squaring off for a turf war and seeing the scars left on Deyawn from the attacker’s revelations (He really didn’t know who Peter C Newman was??) is a wonderful foreshadowing for a Harper majority.
Harper will not have to savage this demented French citizen….he comes into the Librano clan like Chance the Gardener ( from Being There) spouting meaningless bromides and being generally as threatening as a sleeping gerbil and he leaves it looking like a warner brothers cartoon character after a stick of dynamite expodes under their nose.
Gotta love Liberals….their vile predatory nature makes them incapable of passing up an opportunity to dine on the weak and defensless….they can smell weakness and fear and it triggers their beastial attack nodes. DeYawn never had a chance with these snarling party hyenas lurking for a kill.
Gotta love that Ray Heard…if he wasn’t a Librano capo he’d be in a maximum security institution trussed up in a straight jacket with an anti-bite mask like Hannibal Lechter so that society at large is not privy to his finer predatory instincts.

  16. Yesterday there was lots of info on what the Charter had done for/against Canada. First time those under 30 had a chance to see that many of the so called rights, gay/ssm/abortion/ they supposedly enjoy today, were violently oppossed by a majority of canadians. They were forced on us by the courts. If nothing else, seeing trudeau and hearing and seeing this again, will remind many of us why we don’t vote liberal. It also give cdns a chance to see the results of what liberals said would happen and what actually has happened. When you hear them praise gore/suzuki and how great carbon credits will be, think Charter and the lies. If the red/green show ever gets anywhere, in 25 yrs, these young people will see what was promised and the disaster that did happen, to their lives, jobs, and country.

  21. Sealing ships caught in icepack. Does gore/suzuki know about this. Thought all the ice was melting.
3 inches of global warming snow on our lawn. Guess we won’t emit any co2 today with the lawnmower.
A female on cbc talking about earth day. Tells us to reduce consumption, question what we buy by asking Do you need it. She did mention that they were not trying to hurt the economy by buying less. Supposed to examine our garbage for a week, and see what is in it that we didn’t need. Hey, if we needed it, it wouldn’t be in the garbage.
How much food do we throw out each week. Buy less. We should also watch the packaging of what we buy, will it end up in the garbage. What consumer group started movements, years ago, that everything had to be packaged.
I predict that the environment will not be the ballot question in the next election. It will be leadership and red/green are not it.

Al Gore never mentioned the massive energy savings if we were to hang more clothes to dry rather than turn on the dryer.
If apartment dwellers had a privacy curtain or tarp inside the balcony rail, clothes hanging to dry would not be an eyesore from the street.
The energy saved is an export to the USA.
The energy saved could be a buffer for the overnight charging of EVs.
Currently, the grid can only support overnight charging for 180,000,000 electric vehicles before showing signs of stress.
Yes, that is 180 million evs.= TG

Coderre wants firm commitment from Parliament that troops to be withdrawn by 2009. TStar says Harper can make this a confidence issue. Why would PM make meaningless motion, by another party, confidence motion. I smell a trap, trying to fool Cdns that Tories forced election.
New Lib election ads: Dec 05 Dion brought 182 countries together, to save our climate, triumphantly smashing down his gabel in relief, “it’s decided.” (re above thread, just like the Goreicized “science”). I love his passionate defence of the planet, complete with horrible English.
Close polls embolden Dionsky and Libs to challenge bad man Harper, to save the planet from Tories, er I mean climate change.
Great, bring it on. Wait till electorate gets a load of Dion explaining Libs foreign, economic and environmental (unless Liz does job) policy to Canadians, most of whom have never heard of the guy.

I ask the question that nobody seems to be able to answer. Aside from stroking Mr. Dion’s ego WHAT did we canadians GET for our $50 million.???
The increased chants by these same freebie loving attendees for us to pay billions of dollars to other countries AND dismantle our entire economy?
Dion – your proudest moment is one of absolute Liberal shysterism and shame. You stood up for a bunch of enviro-radicals and NOT your fellow Canadians who footed the bill against our will!!

Are there any liberals out there with the guts to start a new party to show their disgust at Dion/Chretain/Mo and gang? I doubt it.

  35. Mary T asked..”Are there any liberals out there with the guts to start a new party to show their disgust at Dion/Chretain/Mo and gang? I doubt it.”
I have not heard a funnier question asked since, since,…well I don’t know.
    I hope you weren’t serious.

  36. Mary – yes, I think there are plans underfoot to “start” another party to take on the Liberals on the left.
It is actually the osmosis of the Green Party. So far the Liberals have drafted at least two Green members to run as Liberals (not greens in liberal clothing like May but actual Liberals).
One is the Lady Godiva nudist from Salt Spring Island. She was wooed by Dosanj and several other environmentalists who are known Green party members have reported he also approached them.
So the Liberals are in fact sponging members from the Greens. So they are Greens posing as Liberals.
Do they think people are stupid??? If voters are mad at the corruption of the Liberals these “Green-Liberals” can then say well I’m really a Green so you can’t paint me as a Liberal.
Or, as Elizabeth May told Charles Adler the other day- “he asked her -why not just join the Liberals”.
Elizabeth May said “I would NEVER do that. I HATE Liberals.” Huh!!! Are we all stupid dorks who don’t get what they are doing?
The Liberals look at the polls. They mathematically add the Liberal poll numbers to the Green’s numbers and that makes more than the Conservatives.
So, in keeping with believing Canadian voters can be manipulated like sheep by a good PR spin they figure together they WIN POWER !!!!
Mark my words – the Greens will not be running candidates in those ridings where Greens have been enlisted to run as Liberals. Or they will just have a name and no real campaign.

  37. The Liberal Party has *gasp* released non-attack ads! I must admit they’re not bad. They’re actually some competition. 🙂
Mind you, three radio attack ads came out in Québec on the same day, so take it for what it’s worth.
