David Suzuki has come to believe his own press clippings, wherein he KNOWS, the way, truth, etc. He has lost any semblance of objectivity, and sounds more like a religious fanatic than a scientist.
If his “end result” is influenced by a business arrangement with Maurice Strong and company, then Suzuki is a despicable creature. Otherwise, he’s merely blinded by his own sense of self righteousness.
Anytime anyone places a political argument before students without a balanced counter-argument there should be an outcry. Politics has no place in the classroom. Children are not equipped intellectually to deal with political argument.
I’ve gone after my local school a number of times for teachers bringing politics into the classroom and in each case it was lefties doing it. What’s with the left and enviro-porn crowd, that they think nothing of bashing kids with their message, yet they’d go nuts if anyone right of centre did the same. Talk about a religion.
I’ve no idea why, but we have a copy of the Calgary Herald in our mailbox this morning – the headline blazed across it is, “Suzuki says premier unfit to lead Alberta”. As far as I’m concerned, he can leave our province and never come back – he’s not welcome here. His speech to elementary school children in such a manner is the same as using that psychotic-looking kid in the Greenpeace ad.
This fanatic has no place speaking to our children.
I should maybe mention that I’m a high school teacher, and have on numerous occasions encountered kids spouting this kind of leftist political garbage, obviously regurgitating what was force-fed to them, as they immediately backed down when quietly presented with counter-arguments. It’s amazing to me how little these kids are taught HOW to think, but they are certainly taught WHAT to think. It reminds me of one kid who came in receiving an excellent mark on a social studies project titled something like, “Why George Bush is a jerk”. We are failing our children terribly if we don’t protect them from being used as pawns in these political ‘wars’. The grown-ups are supposed to be hashing this out, not using the children as cannon fodder.
I found Suzuki repulsive even before all the hype of all things Kyoto..he is a media-whore,and this latest attempt to brainwash KIDS,should be alarming!Why is he being allowed to trash PMSH/Cons. to a bunch of kindergarten kids? This tour is looking more and more,as part of the Lib.election campaign,and should be labelled as such.Dion is useless as a leader,and Suzuki is the mouth taking over,as Dion is no longer credible as environmental “saviour”.I see in G&M,that Holland is going to Alta.in March..that should be interesting,as a tour of Fort Mac.will be included…maybe some of the “boys” out there can put him to work,earning some “izzy monies”

Now that Suzuki , has retired from the CBC and no longer has his taxpayer paid platform from which to pontificate, he is just an angry old man , and will become even more agitated as more people question his “snake oil” preachings.
… eventually someone is going to call him out and he will likely “lose it” and further discredit himself.
The federal government can declare an organinzation illegal or terrorist or words to that effect. Can a Prov. Govt do the same. If so, Premier Stelmach should immediately declare the Suzuki Foundation a dangerous organization and ban all future speakers from said org from Alberta. I wonder if he used the 800.+ dollars to offset his carbon emmission and sent it out of the country. If a parent threatened their child that way they would have Social Services at their door to take away the kids. Every Albertan should write the Minister of Ed to have this guy and his message banned from talking to our kids.
I wonder how many of those kids he scared are going to give up their X-boxes, i-pods, computers etc. Christmas shopping next year should be much cheaper for parents, if no electronic devices are on the list. Is he scheduled for any other appearances in AB. They should be cancelled NOW.
How long before some lawyer is defending a young offender for destroying a display of video games etc, with the defence, But Your Honor, he listened to Suzuki and was trying to save the planet.
I have faith in our kids and here’s one reason why:
During a recent “brown”winter I was driving my 8 year old to school (we live in the country). He was debating me about global warming like a young Suzuki, refusing to consider any viewpoint other than his own. When he got home off the schoolbus I had a list prepared for him of previous “brown” winters dating back as far as recorded weather records went. He dismissed the evidence as irrelevant.
This winter, which has been very snowy, as we’re making the same trip, the enviro-nazi gestures at the landscape and snorts “Hmpf, global warming!”
This story just pisses me right off. I live in Calgary and if I had my kids in this school they would be moving to another one next week.
Fortunately in my son’s school one of his teachers told the class that Al Gore lied. And in my daughter’s school at least they are seeing both sides.
What a bunch of sheep in that auditorium…they were the classic polite bunch, but someone should have had the balls to point out what a pompous ass jerk-off Suzuki is.
And for those who thought Stelmach would be a no-name patsy…looks like he might come through for us.

What a horses ass…and check out the openly biased politics in the school admin. who allow a political hysteric like the Fly to propagandize a partisan message to kids who can’t vote yet!…seems like child abuse to me soviet style.
I guess I wouldn’t mind so much if the same school had the head environmental egineer from Suncor in to explain some of the new environmental technologies being used and designed for the sands…but we know that won’t happen. Having had first hand experince with the mindset of the dogmatic partisan liberals who inhabit the Calgary public system, I know what the game is….politicization of the learning process and partisan indoctrination on a pervasive almost subliminal level.
This is the school board which once(before Daniell Smith straightened them out) wanted to sanitize all the school texts used to be “gender neutral”….don’t think Calgary has a public school system insulated from pervasive politically correct indoctribation…it is among the worst in Canada for left-wing partisan politics in administration…I know, I have butted heads with them.
I am sooooo glad I got my kids out of the Calgary public system….you can see what’s happened…partisan politics/ideoligies has infected the major Alberta city school boards as a counter to the public will who elect conservative governments…now they are indoctrinating the next generation of Alberta voters with Lib-left dogma and partisan politics at an early suggestive age…kids this age do not need to be instilled with partisan political biases any more than religious or cultural biases…why kill a child’s joy of naivity? Adult pressures come soon enough…it’s absolute evil!

Suzuki, who was invited to speak at Calgary’s Altadore elementary school and accept $835 collected by the students for his foundation, asked kids what Harper’s main priority was after being elected last year.
“The only thing he cares about is getting re-elected with a majority government,” he said, adding any of the PM’s pledges to preserve the environment are cynical ploys to that end.
“I don’t believe there is a green bone in Harper’s body – he has never, ever indicated he cares about the environment.”
He told the room some of his message was directed at the adults, because the youngsters don’t vote and Harper and other politicians don’t care about them.
“It’s up to your moms and dads to ensure your futures and livelihoods are part of the agenda,” he said to about 185 students ranging from kindergarten to Grade 6.
Following his presentation, Suzuki received a warm round of applause, prompting the geneticist to note it was coming from oil-rich Albertans.
Later, with reporters, Suzuki slammed the province’s refusal to rein in the development of the oilsands, which produces massive amounts of greenhouse gas.
“Albertans have always had the highest standard of living in the country.
“Why do you need all this out-of-control expansion of the oilsands?” said an angry Suzuki.
“It’s insanity … it’s crazy.”

Looks like he now thinks he is qualified to judge sanity of individuals as well as predict global warming.
If *I* was the headmaster/principal of that school I would have taken back the check – or told the bank to stop payment.

Suzuki has clearly lost his mind. After his latest childish and partisan outburst in front of those elementary school students, it will become difficult for anyone to take him seriously. He is just an angry old man who craves attention.
Writing as a retired classroom teacher and school principal, I have never had any MLA or MP, nor anyone who visited our school and classrooms for educational reasons indulge in any political partisanship such as Dr. D. Suzuki did in Alberta recently.
All visitors respected the students and understood that presentations must be unbiased and not political in nature.
Dr. Suzuki leaves himself without credibility as a scientist or educator, and becomes nothing more than a zealot and an opportunist without principle. He has lost his ability to distinguish between self-interest and the “Great Cause” to which he has devoted himself. He suckles on donations to his foundation while preaching the wickedness of his donors and disrespect for our legitimately elected government(s) to children captive at school.
I have had snakes in my classroom, and I would much rather have had them visit visit us than Dr. Suzuki.

Wel for the life of me I can’t understand why the Sun chain even give The Fruit fly a pulpit for his crap…I hope the editorial staff os at least the Calgary Sun tell him to:
A) mind his own business and clean up his own province before offering innuendo about ours

Personally, I don’t think there is a sane bone in suzuki anymore. Murtha has lost it in the US, and now Suzuki has really lost it and shown us what insanity really looks like. Re algores oscar tomorrow, of course he will win, but as a climatoligist said, it should be in the science fiction category. He will run for Pres in 2008, saying he is answering the call of his deciples, and by Nov 2008, most sensible voters will have discovered he is still full of crap. Will he kiss his wife tomorrow, on stage.
I think what is happening to Suzuki is that after wearing, for so many years, the mantle of white environmental knight, he expected people to continue to take what he had to say at face value. The difference being his past messages were invariably seen as well intentioned but more important did not have that much of an impact on the daily life of the average Canadian. Right or wrong – it didn’t make much difference. He worked on the periphery of politics.
Now that he has inserted himself in the middle of a highly political issue that has the potential to adversely affect each and every Canadian and his message is under intense scrutiny, he is withering under the heat of the political limelight. I’m sure he is shocked at his treatment by what used to be, if not an adoring media, at least a fairly passive one.
Broad acceptance of his message in the past left him unprepared to face the challenges to a message that, given the consequences, cannot be taken at face value. His ego has taken a huge hit prompting the increasingly aggressive behavior we have seen from him recently.
It’s sad to see somebody reduced to getting his political message out through elementary school students. But considering experiences of the past couple of weeks, it’s a perfect venue. No challenge.
Well done Dr. David Suzuki. The ones who need this spelled out to them are the children and the parents of those children. It’ll be their world when this generation of money hungry knuckle walking cons finish screwing it up.
Sorry but these posts prove that in an Albertans mind money comes before anything else, even children.

The principal probably with the able assistance of his/her teaching staff is responsible for this.
In this time of political correctness you can be assured that the school board has guidelines as to what is appropriate for discussion with students.
One would expect that if somebody is presenting a biased argument that the teachers would question that view for the benefit of their students education.
This is obviously not the case and exposes the public education system (in this school) as no more than a school for indoctrination. Little wonder then that savvy parents are avoiding enrolling their children into such a system.
Let the socialists continue this, then hear them squeal when enrolment drops and schools are closed – as is already happening in Vancouver.That will solve the long term problem.
In the short term if I were a parent of a child at Attadore school I would be writing to the superintendent of schools advising him of my decision to commence home schooling.
One of my favourite High School memories was a speaker coming to our school spouting out some leftist garbage – I can honestly say I have no recollection of WHAT the message was about, but we had shop teacher (Industrial Arts) who was a bit of a loose cannon (totally my favourite in the faculty) who let loose with a couple of zinger questions that totally threw this person one their backside.
Can’t remember the substance, but I do remember as all the kids around me were nodding and “uh-huhing” we were all enlightened once some balance was restored.
Students are not taught to think nowadays. They come to school and are fed from the commie trough. Nuff said.

So the only thing Harper has done out of his own free will is to try and destroy Canadaâs commitment to Kyoto, drag their feet on anything that threatens his beloved tar sands and bring out that little joke of his that he called the âClean Air Actâ. The only time that the cons do anything real for the environment is when the opposition forces them to. Then the only real plans that they bring forward is resurrect something that was put in place by the Liberals and cancelled by the cons when they got into power. Itâs funny when cons say the Liberals did nothing because that nothing is what the cons end up resurrecting, like Energuide.
To date, the media has been wildly supportive of GW because the reporting of catastrophes (real or forecast)makes compelling copy and increase reader/listenership. Fortunately, the case has been made and there is very little doom left to publish that will not be redundant (boring) or wildly over the top and shrill.
Forecast: The media will begin to focus on a new topic. That new topic will be about conflict. The media will begin to search out and publish the conflict between Righteous GW believers and scientists who disagree. This new focus will be rich ground for journalists to plow. No one can stay on top forever so Gore and Suzuki make an irresistable target for the media to bring down. Furthermore, Gore/Suzuki and the IPCC gang have deliberately tried to supress dissent. Even a clumsy, lazy unmotivated reporter can locate solid scientific evidence to make this cabal look bad. Voila, great new angle for the media to beat to death.
Gore, Suzuki and the IPCC have peaked in influence. The GW mania has peaked. Its all downhill from here for the forcasters of doom.
