The Globe and Mail is late to the game and a few megatonnes short, but finally providing a few facts beyond those pulled from CBC Fruit Fly Guy press releases;
The opposition parties, led by the Liberals, have pushed legislation through the House of Commons to force the government to meet Canada’s obligations under the Kyoto Protocol on greenhouse-gas emissions. No responsible government could come even close to reaching those targets without bankrupting the treasury. But in an effort to score political points, Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion has stubbornly plodded ahead, smearing the gloss of virtue on this economic and political folly.
[…]
It’s the impossible nightmare. Last May, after years of Liberal inaction, the Conservative government conceded that the level of emissions in 2004 was 34.6 per cent above Canada’s Kyoto target of an average of 563 million tonnes annually between 2008 and 2012. Canada’s emissions have since sailed even higher, probably reaching 780 million tonnes a year.
Suppose Alberta eliminated all tar-sands development. That’s a saving of 30 million tonnes a year. Suppose Ontario shut down all of its coal-fired power plants. That’s 24 million tonnes. To cover the shortfall, Canada would have to go abroad to buy emission credits or sponsor carbon-reduction initiatives in other countries. Most experts put the price tag for that splurge at a minimum of $10-billion. It could go far higher as the market gets tighter, squeezing federal funds for everything from health care to retraining programs.
It’s a start. One wonders though, how much the informative quality of their editorials might improve if the G&M yanked a few of those parliamentary press gallery foot soldiers from the “green beat” in Ottawa and assigned them to Google.

Not just late, Kate, but conveniently late it seems. The G&M should have published this as the bill was proceeding through the House, not after. The analysis is good; it would have been far more beneficial to readers as forethought rather than hindsight. This information could have been damaging to Dion prior to the vote, yet now we’re all screwed.
Wh cares if it ws before the bill or not. The bill was to embaress the goverment and it was going to pass anyway. The fact that it was a strategic mistake notwithstanding.
The government can respond to the bill and with a plan that meets the targets, as described by the G and M. Forcing the opposition to agree or counter.
The targets cannot be met responsibly. The oprevious govt took environmentalists to the negotiations, other countries took financial analysts and economists, we took a leaf to a gun fight. and Jean cretin added another 1% juat to better than anyone…what a turd, now that he is shilling Chinese CO2 emitters the Cherry.
Would someone take him to task for that please
Having read many of the comments in the g&m re this bill and kyoto in general, it is surprising how many TO and other libs think the 6% is just that. Several posters tried to make them realise it is 6% below 1990 levels. We have to stress that it is about a 40% reduction of todays levels.
I would like to repost what Stan said last night at 8:29 pm on another thread.
“The MSM were in love with Kyoto and Harper was against it, so they had a stick to beat him with. Now if he professes to be the number one Kyoto fan, suddenly the MSM loses their stick to beat him with. Do they love Kyoto more than they hate Harper? Maybe they start actually looking at Kyoto with a sceptical eye. Anything to disagree with Harper and oppose him and his government looks good to them.”
I think this is an accurate assessment of their “awakening”. They are simply Conservative contrarians.
Yesterday’s 180 degree turn on Kyoto by the Globe’s editorial page caused me to wonder if their Liberal editor had had a Damascus experience and was turning into a “Paul” with a new religion based on reason.
However, today I see he is the same old tax-collector “Saul”. Today he rants about Harper’s “ideological” desire to stack the courts with conservatives. The Charter along with an unelected-stacked Librano$ Senate are the stealth weapons of the Librano$.
Today the Globe editorial harkens back to abortion and SSM. They set up a target of the old “scary” Harper by association with these words. The Globe does not mention the pitiful absence of “property” rights in the Charter, property being the very essence of individual rights. No, they position the Charter as the essence of our democracy. They do not want a living Charter but one frozen in time that must be interpreted by judges who buy into that fundamentalist ideology and nothing about the Charter must be challenged by anyone such as an MP who the great unwashed have actually elected.
To make a long story short, yesterday the Globe editorial found and printed the truth. Today they are back to their ideological support of Librano$.
HOLY GREAT NOSTALGIA BATMAN:
“Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects.”
From the IPCC 2007 report Batman?
No Boywonder. It’s from Newsweek, April 28, 1975. Check it out, a scary read; it’s got charts, maps, even warnings from NOAA scientists. We should be stocking up on food and looking for land in Australia!

The whole idea behind carbon credits just drives me nuts. It’s like taking a PB&J sandwich and slicing it in half. You still have as much sandwich; you just don’t eat all of it yourself.
Another analogy would be farting and assigning the other half of the smell to your wife since she doesn’t have gas. There’s still the same amount of smell, but now you’re only responsible for half of it!
Dion should resign from the leadership position. He is the epitome of the Peter Principle.
He is not just an accidental leader, but he is an accident waiting to happen.
G’dammit, the Conservatives did not have any part in signing on to the outrageous Kyoto Scam some ten years ago. They are in power for a year and are supposed to have it up and running , all planned out, which the signatory Chretien ignored beyond tossing the word “Kyoto” around.
He couldn’t help his whipping boy on the file because he had no clue what he signed on to so they did squat beyond promising a plan would be “coming soon”and we saw none. GHG’s kept rising.
Now, of course, it’s the most urgent matter facing our Country according to Dudley Doolittle Dion.
Now they want the Conservative Government to draft the plan they were INCAPABLE of drafting because it’s a bloody IMPOSSIBLE SCHEME.
Old Dudley Doolittle has his ass in a bind and it’s getting tighter by the day.
I can see SH going to the electorate with this issue but only AFTER it is passed into law. That way, if by some wierd chance, the Liberals form the government they will be hung on their own petard. They will be the ones who will bankrupt our nation with this completely idiotic law.
Hopefully if SH gets a majority government he can repeal this folly.

No w’s at the beginning.
“Canada would have to go abroad to buy emission credits or sponsor carbon-reduction initiatives in other countries. Most experts put the price tag for that splurge at a minimum of $10-billion. ”
This has been what the foot dragging by Martin/Dijon was all about…and now the desperate 12th hour attempt to get the Harper government to commit to targets it can’t meet…it’s all in the script. Chretien agrees to targets that were double what was asked…Dijon/Martin default on targets…Martin pays billions to his pal Chaiman Moe in China for carbon credits.
The $10 billion China carbon slush fund was already allocated in a Liberal account and ready to go to …wait for it…yeah, you guessed it “China” for Canada’s Kyoto default carbon credit purchase….the cash was stashed there by Martin ( Strong’s protégé’) and Dijon ( Strong’s little flying monkey boy) sat with his thumb up his butt while the targets flew out of reach.
Harper’s election put a kink in their little China-Kyoto cash-for-carbon scam. Harper saw the scam.
When Harper took over, one of the first things he did was put the Liberal’s/Strong’s China carbon cash back into general revenues….the Libs were in Leadership transition at the time but you can be assured that Strong’s LPC agents were aware the China carbon money was staying in Canada as long as Harper was in charge.
This latest desperate insane bill to meet Kyoto targets is , essentially, a Liberal bill to ensure we default on targets and pay out carbon cash to the party’s Kyoto carbon banker ( chairman Moe) who resides in Beijing these days, overseeing China’s carbon credit vending bureaucracy.
Pretty transparent… but 20 bucks sez the criminally uninterested Kanukistani MSM will not follow the Kyoto carbon credit money trail right to Strong’s Beijing door step.
“Dion should resign from the leadership position.”
Au contraire. He should stay where he is and not move a muscle except a mouth that is unconnected to a brain.
Dion is Harper’s ticket to a majority government. If even the not-exactly-swift Globe & Mail understands that attempting to reach Kyoto requirements would be economic folly a majority of the Canadian public can’t be far behind.
SH is a master strategist. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.
The Bear” “The whole idea behind carbon credits just drives me nuts. It’s like taking a PB&J sandwich and slicing it in half. You still have as much sandwich; you just don’t eat all of it yourself.”
The carbon credit system as designed by a global socialst (Noe String) to redistribute wealth and productivity from the 1st world to the emerging 2nd world communist economies.
It does not have to make sense…there is no sense to it…it is an agenda.
Had you ever considered thsat Canada’s Kyoto commitments ( where the targets were doubled by Chretien) were NEVER meant to be met? That Kyoto would be an excuse to do 2 things the Liberal cartel have always wanted to do:
1) Cripple Alberta’s economy and make it submissive to Ottawa
2) be a constant capital slush fund for their China investments with the carbon credit purchase on an annual basis.
No doubt in my mind the Martinettes and the Dijonettes ever intended to meet Kyoto targets…Kyoto’s regulatory and taxation regime met their agenda for sunbuing Alberta’s economic independence and the Carbon credit trading allowed them to placate the party’s mascot Moe Strong and his favoite project…profiteering in China with carbon credit skim money.
Hey, what’s the problem? We now have a law, and PMSH has to come up with an implementation plan. So? Let him…A real one. One that meets all the Kyoto targets. Let him submit it for a vote, debate only on whether it meets targets, not on its economic effect. When it comes time to vote, let all tories abstain and watch the idiots in the house destroy the country.
Ladies and gentlemen (& assorted trolls of dubious gender): the voting public of Canada has lost its collective mind and needs a brick upside the head. This might do it: 20% unemployment, 10% inflation, prime at 15%, a 400% jump in the suicide rate, Quebec and Alberta separating…
Harper should call the Kyoto bluff. The Liberals in particular cannot conceive of word matching deed, so let the PM force his political opponents to confront reality. We can treat gently those who degenerate into gibbering madness when their rose-coloured glasses dissolve in the acid of truth – they were sincerely wrong. We can find low-thc hemp for the rest of them.
It’s an excellent editorial – but what puzzles me, is that I haven’t heard anything but versions of this perspective from any responsible journalist, opinion pundit etc. No-one who has even the most minimal grasp of the issues thinks otherwise than outlined in this editorial.
Therefore, all the opposition parties know these facts, as facts. So? What’s going on?
Plan A. Do Dion, and his Handlers, really think that this will enable them to topple Harper’s government? Dion can then claim, as he already has, that IF he is elected PM Right Now, then, he can Save Canada. But, if it’s in 2008 – it will be too late.
So, is the plan to topple Harper’s gov’t and then claim that Kyoto can’t be done, because of Harper? That’s a shaky plan in numerous areas. Is Dion that dumb? Yes, but are his Handlers equally as dumb?
Plan B. Do they actually expect Harper to harm the economic productivity of Canada – and the resultant economic downturn will be blamed on Harper..and..? That’s even weaker than Plan A.
Plan C. Do they actually expect Harper, and the taxpayers, to ship billions of our money off to China?
Plan D. Do they expect Harper to laugh at them and say he won’t do a thing? Then, they will Take the Moral HighRoad, and, to save the country from the Dictatorship of Harper, who is ignoring the Will of Parliament…they’ll topple the gov’t??
Hmmm.
But Harper just blew that; he said he’d abide by the law. Hmmm.
Plan E. Wait until the spring thaw. Throw Dion off the bridge into the Ottawa River. Appoint Ignatieff or Rae as Liberal Leader. ADmit Kyoto can’t be achieved; set up reasonable goals and actions.
The Globe either doesn’t understand what it takes to pass a law, or chooses to ignore the facts.
Royal Assent cannot be forced by the Liberals in the Senate, nor is the bill a law unless it is proclaimed and published in the Canada Gazette. The choice of whether to do that rests with the government and no one else.
If the Liberals want to push legislation through, they should combine with the other parties, force an election and let the people decide.
Wail and shriek as the Suzuki’s may , given the increasing skepticism , especially from the blogs , even the most dumb and arrogantly committed MSM Kyoto types are beginning to realize that following the Suzuki Kyoto path leads to economic ruin.
… and that economic ruin includes them!
Suzuki and the entire environmental movement are going to lose a lot of credibility when the true fraud of Kyoto sinks in ,which is why they have increased the hype volume in an attempt to drown out the Kyoto dissenters.
Since Suzuki and the environmentalists have made Kyoto their banner similar to “Custer’s last stand” and taken the path of no retreat from Kyoto, their existence is threatened if Kyoto is exposed for what it is.
Kyoto will bankrupt this nation…the voting public have no concept of what Kyoto is…if Harper impliments a plan that damages the economy he will bear the blame for it…get real.
The best Harper can do is create a plan that meets exactly what the Liberals are braying for then put the economic sacrifies into terms the dopes in GTA/Montreal can understand….make them see exactly what THEIR share of the economic sacrifece will be….it could be their job…or their home…or their car or just a sizeable chunk of their income.
Then let the Kyoto NIMBYs realize their crippling personal sacrifice is an agenda the liberals are pushing the government into…. when the potential bankrupting pain of Kyoto has finally sunk in…drop the writ!
you can fix anything with money they say
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/6354759.stm
wouldnt this put us back to the science of the 1980s
Its easy for Stephen.
For the first time ever , stack the committee with Liberals, Dippers and Bloq and have them formulate a plan in 60 days for Kyoto.Members from ridings with coalplants and auto assembly plants would be most welcome.
They can all have a little whine with their crow.
“Hey, what’s the problem? We now have a law, and PMSH has to come up with an implementation plan. So? Let him…A real one. One that meets all the Kyoto targets. Let him submit it for a vote, debate only on whether it meets targets, not on its economic effect. When it comes time to vote, let all tories abstain and watch the idiots in the house destroy the country.”
That’s exactly what the bill calls for – a plan in 60 days. Which Harper said he’s going to do.
Tenebris is right.
The plan will meet the Kyoto objectives, but will be so catastrophic to the economy, those who forced the government to do so will appear demented, if not traitorous.
And then, an election.
The cnn strike is starting to have a ripple effect on the rest of the economy of canada. Wonder if all those following kyotology have any inkling that this ripple effect will turn into a tsuami when kyoto is implemented.
Headline saying the govt should put an end to the strike, should be saying, This is the first of what happens when an industry shuts down. With kyoto, it will be the liberals shutting down the economy, if they get into power. Who will the headlines ask to stop it.
I hope the govt lets this strike go on until the unions action is seen for what it is. People are going to be laid off, businesses are not getting their product to sell, exporters can’t get their product to market. All Harper has to do is tie it to kyoto and what happens to the whole country when one industry shuts down. Multiply it by several thousand shutting down.
Here’s my solution. Alberta could cut emmisions in half. The half that goes East is shut off and the Southern route is kept on. Oh sorry Queebec, we thought you wanted emmisions cut. Well there you go, emmisions are cut, you should be happy now, oui ?
Global Cooling…I mean Warming… I mean Climate Change, ( damn it’s hard to keep up) has become a new religion to it’s true believers.
There can be no discussion with them, if you disagree with their assumptions you are shouted at, called stupid, a denier of the facts or a far right neo-conservative wacko who doesn’t care about the planet and is only interested in what he can get out of it.
Hell, I don’t doubt that down the road some of them with start strapping bombs to themselves make their way into some foul, polluting, industrial factory pull the pin while shouting “Suzuki Akbar” and try to take as many hardworking mothers and fathers as they can with them. Hey if you are not part of the solution you are part of the problem right.
The Kyoto Accord…sorry I mean Holy Scriptures, will do nothing to stop the so called man made threat of Global (Cooling warming climate change.) How can anyone believe that if a country is over there limit in greenhouse gas output all that they have to do is buy credits from another country that isn’t and the problem is fixed?

Prime Minister Outlines Plan to Meet the Terms of the Kyoto Protocol as Mandated by Legislation Brought Forward by all the Opposition Parties
February 19, 2007
Iqaliut, Nunavut
PLEASE CHECK AGAINST DELIVERY
Good afternoon Ladies, Gentleman and Starving Polar Bears.
Thank you David Suzuki, Rick (One Ton) Mercer and Al Gore for that kind introduction.
As you all know by now the opposition parties have passed legislation that mandates that Canada must fully meet its Kyoto Protocol Commitments by 2012. As a prime minister of action, following is a plan for Canada to not only meet but exceed its Kyoto commitments so that we can take a world leadership role in climate change and tell the Americans where to shove it.
I have brought you up here to Baffin Island to make this announcement because as you know climate change not only affects has-been scientists, one joke comedians (the Americans suck ha ha) and loser politicians but it also impacts polar bears and other animals living in the Great White North. I know the temperature here is -45 with a wind chill of -80 but if we do not implement climate change programs in 100 years the temperature up here might reach -39 with a wind chill factor of -74. The polar bears will never forgive us if we allow this to happen.
Effective immediately, the following will be banned in order to meet our Kyoto commitments;
* private jets (sorry Mo Strong and Paul Martin);
* all recreational airline travel – take your holidays at home;
* all passenger vehicles except those used for business – walk, bike, bus to work.
* homes larger than 1000 sq ft – people in larger homes will have to share;
* Starbucks Coffee – lattes produce way more global warming than Tim Hortons regular blend;
* pets – do you know how much global warming gases comes out of both ends of a Golden Retriever?;
* children – they consume way too many resources (to meet this goal I am extending a women’s right to chose to 18 years after birth);
* salaries over $2,000 per month – wealthy Canadians produce way more green house gases than poor people so lets all be poor shall we;
* media – why do we need more than one, they all say the same thing any way. Only the CBC will stay and Don Cherry will be put in charge;
* elections – do you know how much hot air is produced during each campaign? – Since there will be no more elections there is no need for more than 1 political party – the Canadian Compassionate Conservative Party (CCCP).
Now I know what you are thinking: If we implement all of the above will not some people lose their jobs due to the lower economic activity. You are correct and for this reason I will be greatly expanding the number of border guards. Their jobs will be to keep those selfish Canadians in Canada who may want to ignore their responsibilities to prevent climate change by leaving the ecological utopia that Canada will become (No more sabbaticals to Harvard Mister Ignatieff).
In closing comrades I would just like to say that when these measures are fully implemented by the 22nd century Canada will become the first 100% carbon neutral country as there will be no people left. The rest of the world will be jealous with envy.
Thank you.

It’s one hell of a fine game of chess going on, advantage Harper,(the one with the strategic smarts).
He’s using a bit of the old reverse psychology on the fools.
They’ll look a fine pack of fools as this Kyoto Scam plays out and drops its blow where it rightfully belongs.
It’ll make quite a wallop.
Paul Martin is about to get himself feathered with a touch of tar with his death bed concoction”Kellowna Accord”.
Their desperation goes way beyond common sense and reason.
They can take their accords, roll ’em up and shove ’em where the sun don’t shine.
“* pets – do you know how much global warming gases comes out of both ends of a Golden Retriever?;”
I’m still trying to figure out how to capture and sequester the gas emitting from mine. Let alone the amount of energy consumed, due to constantly running a vacuum cleaner.
Most people here are overstating Green Guru Dion’s importance. Harper will give the red, pink and mauve socialists their 60 days to come up with their Kyoto “action” plan. How the hell can 2 sociology profs (Diony and Igny), their 3 students (Holland, Rodriguez and Turdeau the Lesser), Layton and Duceppe come up with any plan, not having any real-world management experience between them. All reasonable voters (i.e excluding the inner city latte-sippers in Toronto and Monteal) will see these socialists for what they are. Harper will pull the trigger on an election and Kyoto will die along with the collapsing Liberals.
“Suzuki Akbar”
perfect!
A gentleman by the net handle of “rick” on another forum offered this suggestion to Harper about the bill:
Apparently, the suggestion went to Ottawa to the CPC strategy think-tank, and is actively being looked at… LOL!

Another analogy would be farting and assigning the other half of the smell to your wife since
she doesn’t have gas. There’s still the same amount of smell, but now you’re only responsible for half of it!
The best thing is to assign half to your wife and the other half to your girlfriend then you are not responsible for anything. Just like the Fiberals do.
Where just the national bank for Moe & company to further there ideological world socialism, plus make money while doing it. Kyoto will break that bank.
Use an entire Nation as working fodder in their global aspirations, while destroying that Country’s economy by gutting it . Than using any profit to send to ideological foes. If not outright enemies of all we stand for. While they defile to their heats content on our dime.
While hopefully to them this will cause breaks in American economic viability as well. How they would love to see America flounder, in their small piglet laden hate filled eye’s.
Canada is the thirty pieces of silver, with French Citizen Dion as the new Judas.
This is their way to crucify capitalism by subversion. In order to create a world Utopia based on Marxism wedded to Monopolistic super companies.
Held in “National Trust” but run by these same vultures.
Meanwhile real pollution not man made delusion runs unabated in this Polity by propaganda. Water tables have been contaminated. Chemical pollution has entered the food chain. Its why theirs a plague of cancer . Yet no one talks about it.
Air quality has gone down in cities. We need to implement like the States. A law with Money behind it to install water treatment plants in every town over 2000. Give incentives to make it profitable to research better scrubbers in industry. Not the stick.
We still send raw sewage out. Victoria is a bad example of this as is Hamilton. Just controlling this is what brought the US to lower levels, while ours raised. In Alberta you have Edson sending raw sewage towards Edmonton.
Kyoto is a money laundering scam based on political calculations. The environment has nothing to do with it. Its all Political.
One volcano spews more than we do of so called greenhouse gases in terms of hundreds of years. Yet we little termites are responsible for the world dying ? Absurdity heaped on pretensions of godhood. The hubris of these swine is only exceeded by the BS daily dribbling away like a bad case of the runs.
Lets fix up the real pollution problems, not the made up ones by mercenary globalists bent on world Control of all markets. To create the perfect Totalitarian state for a world elite. Lets cut this pseudo- Religion down with facts & rationality, before the infection destroys the host body. In this case Canada.
If not this Nation will cease to be viable in any real sense of that term. Splintering will soon follow. Albertans will not put up with this absurd insanity of a money grab called Kyoto.
if the lie {kyoto }is big enought and repeated often { msm } many people { sheep } will believe it !! hbw
Y2KYOTO a dog that needs to be spayed at the Veterinarian.
Borat Dion’s dog is loose and trying to inseminate the neighbourhood!
The only mating that Y2KYOTO should be allowed; would be with Belinda’s dog.
Cheers
The Liberals solution to everything is to “promise” to fix, to create, or to repeal whatever they think needs to be promised.
Repeal the GST… boy the sheeple bought that whopper.
Fix the native/aboriginal problem…done! right?
Get Canada out of NAFTA Yea!..on second thoughts..
Kyoto? Busted? solution? more promises? good idea.
Speaking of dogs – Green Guru Dion named is first dog “Trotsky” and the current mutt’s name is Kyoto. There was an old talk show host (whose name I now forget) who referred to environmental activists as watermealons – all green on the outside and all pink on the inside. In the case of Dion, truer words were never spoken.
Good thinking “Skip”. Doubt Pablum Rodriquez came up with anything much on his own, it would be a concoction of the bone heads in Dion’s inner sanctum. The “Experts”.
Revnant Dream is right, KYOTO is another money laundering scam and so typical of that gang, they just never learn. It has everything to do with sleazy politics and nothing more otherwise Chretien would have acted on it instead of ignoring it, except the part that interested him most, the buying of carbon credits from China, that is where his buddy Mo Strong comes into play.
How the hell will that clean up OUR air? How will giving China more money to build coal fired plants and pollute clean up the global environment?
It’s about as dumb as it gets folks. Can’t believe we’re even discussing such stupidity.
This whole Kyoto thing is entirely bullshit. They claim a country’s emissions per population, this screws us because we have a high landmass and low population compared to China. using this formula guarantees china will become the next superpower.
An ‘inconvienient truth’ on this is Kyoto ignores the carbon reducing properties of a landmass.
With our vast forests we reduce CO2 1000 times more than we produce. I think the world should be paying Canada billions instead of the other way around.
KYOTO the truth
Remove production capacity from industrialized nations and transfer it to 3rd world countries. (Carbon market). The result is a dramatic slowdown of Western economies (read mass unemployment etc) and a speedup of third world development. This does absolutely nothing to address AGW and everything to change the socio-economic makeup of the planet. This is the truth that should be hammered into the public. The great experiment foisted upon us by the socialist elite. Makes me sick. I think that once the average voter realizes this attempt to dupe us into giving up the lifestyles that we and our ancestors earned in order to elevate a segment of the population through wealth transfer (Now I have seen this somewhere before… Oh yes, it’s the same scheme as the wealth transfer we use to subjugate the natives in this country. And we all know how that is working 🙂 any fool and their party that tries to implement Kyoto and the grand Carbon Market will be buried in the next election. I hope
as a side note… I think mandatory teaching of biology, psysics and chemistry in our public schools will avoid this fearmongering bullshit in the future. you cannot fake pure science and our youth will not believe this propaganda anymore.
and by this I mean real science labs in schools; not what the teacher presents as how it is.
A little story of when I was a child in grade school… A teacher was demonstrating on how a candle burns and she maintained that it was the wick that was burning and not the wax. I must have been 12 years old and I objected in front of the class that she was wrong and it was infact the wax that was burning. With my rudementary science my father taugt me I persisted with the goal of the truth. Needless to say I was sent to see the principle.
This is why I say real science needs to be demonstated.
With apologies to John Lennon

You owe me a new keyboard. I couldn’t keep the coffee in my mouth when your post implanted the vision of eco-terrorists shouting “Suzuki Akbar”.
Will their explosions release swarms of giant flesh-eating fruit flies, I wonder?
I wonder how many cdns searched and read the whole charter before it was signed. Probably on the same par as those that have studied the Kyoto Protocol. I really wonder how many mps of any party read it and asked. What if this comes up or that comes up. I remember at one meeting asking a speaker something about homosexuality becoming legal and lead to ssm. Answer by the experts, never going to happen, to loud laughs and finger pointing at me.
Most people are sheep and afraid to ask questions for fear of being laughed at, or voting against something that is plain wrong, to be with the in crowd. With the internet now, people have the time to read and study everything, get opinions both pro and con, and find they are not alone in their views or values. The silent majority are using their keyboards to warn people.
How many mps of any party do you think have really read and studied the Kyoto Protocol. Certainly not many of the opposition, and how many voted for the recent bill for fear of being kicked out of caucus if they said no. How many really know what meeting the targets by 2012 will do to the entire economy, not just Alberta. How many people in Ont know how their job is tied to our oilsands, or agricultural industries. Not many.
Years ago Brian rolled the dice re another accord, and lost big time, not only his govt, put his party was gone, never to recover.
I think dion has rolled the dice with this bill, and will meet the same fate. The pro kyoto crowd will split 4 ways, leaving the anti-kyoto group to the conservatives all by themselves.
Craig O. had some not nice things to say about dion, on Adler last week, so did Chantel. Wonder if any of it will be repeated tomorrow on QP, with giggles and pal.
I am so shocked that no one has had a positive comment on JVDs calmed down hairdo. Did she read the nasty comments re her hair on SDA, or sent to the cbc about her.
Seems dions efforts to get ndp women to run as liberals is not going over well. The same guy who tried to get Grewal, and was taped, is on the search again. There are rumored to be some 20 libs not running in the next election. Why don’t they go out in style and vote against repealing the terrorist laws.
I think that most Canadians thoroughly deserve Kyoto.
The fact that the editorial appeared in the “Globe”, which is usually the diligent mouthpiece for the Liberals, shows how bad the situation with the law is.
You have to wonder at the way those who brag and bluster get blindsided by events. Take Alberta,the place that Harper told to build a wall or fortress around itself to keep out the Feds and the teeming armies of socialists anxious to tax the natural resources wealth. Just look at that place now. Leading the country in nearly 110 million tonnes (SO2 equivalent) of greenhouse gas emissions. Even populous Ontario is way behind at 77 million. And this is due to oil and gas, mainly the energy cost of stripping the oil out of the sands. So the very thing that Alberta wants all for itself, as some who claim to speak for Alberta say, that has become already a millstone around its neck. There are those huge subsidies from the FEDs, and they surely will be chopped, and then there will be no future for oil sands, well, not at present. And the population that rushed into Calgary will rush out, leaving a collapsing property market, among other woes. Terrible, this fate thing, isn’t it?
“garhane” you are a moron. GHG emissions is a non issue except for people with their head up their ass or are a communist(same thing). Oil as a primary energy source will be around for quite some time as well as the prosperity of Alberta and hopefully Canada as long as people like you aren’t making the decisions.
